We have been coming to Sakura Bana since 2005, when we first moved to Glen Rock. We have been coming regularly for the past 20 years. The food is always amazing, with anything we order, sushi/sashimi or cooked food. My son's favorite is the beef teriyaki. Mine is the sushi sashimi special. My daughter loves the hamachi Kama. If you haven't tried the Nabeyaki Udon, it's a must. I have known Ken-san and Rico, since the beginning. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail is unsurpassed. If you come for the first time, definitely ask to with Monica, the server. She is simply the best and the sweetest.

Honestly, a 10/10. Friend from Jersey recommended this spot. The sushi was fairly priced and it was so fresh! It's super authentic and the people there were so nice. I got the omakase and it did not disappoint. It's more on the traditional side though as opposed to fusion like the ones in Manhattan. When it comes to sushi authenticity and freshness is the most important to me and this restaurant has both. Highly recommended!

Sakurabana is real Japanese Restaurant. The owner and chef is Japanese. Flesh fish and they know how to cut the fish to make the best taste. If you want to taste the real Japanese Sushi Sashimi and dishes, Sakurabana is the best choice. I guarantee, because I am Japanese.

My family loves to come to Sakura Bana for their Bento box lunch special. You have a couple of different choices and it comes with soup and salad. I chose the sashimi and subbed a cucumber roll for the California roll that's apart of the box. It's definitely a good portion for the price and their salad dressing is different than the normal dressing you get at most Japanese restaurants. My only complaint was the cucumber roll was a thick sliced of cucumber versus the multitude of skinny pieces they normally give.

Patrons here are usually 20-30 year loyal to Sakura Bana. I was told chefs were serving fresh and tasteful sushi and sasimi as long as three decades. I myself have been enjoying their sushi for more than 15 years.

A Hidden Gem You Can't Miss!…read more I stumbled upon this adorable local café by accident, and I'm so glad I did. It's a truly special spot that feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the usual chain coffee shops. The coffee is outstanding. Their cortado and flat white are perfectly crafted and some of the best I've had. We also tried the cold matcha with a squirt of strawberry syrup, which was absolutely delicious a perfect refreshing treat. The pastries are a highlight too; they are homemade and baked fresh on a "need-to-basis," so you know everything is made with care and never sits around. What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. It is incredibly dog-friendly, which was a huge plus for us since we brought our furbaby along. He absolutely loved his "pupachino"! We were lucky enough to enjoy the beautiful weather on their outside seating area, which added to the lovely vibe. We even got to meet the owner, who was kind, warm, and welcoming, and the staff is equally friendly. It's rare to find a place with such genuine hospitality. Definitely make this your go-to spot before heading to Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts. You won't regret supporting this wonderful local business!

The tres leches ran out (theres one on pic but already reserved/paid for by another) and i wouldve wanted to try that so ended up with a biscoff cheesecake. It was good but sweet. The lattes were enjoyable as well as the brownie cake which was decadent. Overall a good place for some slow time while being caffeinated.

Outdoor seating available, but large windows, which were open last night. We were seated promptly at a window seat and Diana came by pretty quickly to take our order. You have to try their Focaccia bread. They do a little something special that makes it so crispy outside, but fluffy and buttery on the inside. My wife ordered the "The Clam Jam" (beer-braised littlenecks, Calabrian chili, house sausage and Espelette Butter). She love the dish, as did I the one clam she allowed. I ordered the Hamachi Crudo (Organic cherry ponzu, lime, jalapeño, shiro dashi, pistachio gremolata and red onion.) This is a very fancy ceviche, with cherries and all the fixins' which I would gladly order again... My wife's entrée was the Goffle Road farm half chicken (crispy fingerling potatoes, herb butter & roast chicken jus). Gotta say, they Lula's does a great job with this chicken. I stop by Goffle Road farm and the chicken is superior to pretty much anything else, but this came out with such a light crispy skin and so juicy and tender. Excellent! My entrée was the Elite Prime Grass-Fed Coulotte steak (Pomme puree, crispy sunchokes & black garlic jus.) The steak was done to perfection and the potatoes puree were so very creamy and good. No dessert tonight... just a couple cups of coffee and a little walk around Ridgewood. Busy place! Lula is a BYO!

The hospitality was incredible. We went there for my birthday. All the staff knew it was my birthday and they also knew that I was eight months pregnant and wanted to make sure that I was comfortable. The food was exceptional. The wait staff was so nice and provided recommendations while not pushing any one dish. We got the focaccia, softshell crab, Peking duck and chicken liver for appetizers. The softshell crab was the best I've ever had, and I would come back to this restaurant for this alone. The Peking duck was juicy and tender with the most incredible slaw type salad underneath it. The focaccia with the butter was also phenomenal, the owner actually brought it out to us and we had a nice conversation with him and you can tell he just poured his heart and soul into this restaurant. The focaccia is definitely not an appetizer to be overlooked just because it is bread. While I couldn't have any of the chicken liver mousse, it looked stunning, and my husband said that it was incredible and so light and fluffy, and it was a massive portion. I look forward to when we come back when I'm not pregnant and I can eat it. For dinner I got the Arctic char, and my husband got the pork. The Arctic char was unbelievable. It was piping hot and literally just melted in my mouth with each bite and the side that came with it was a mix of asparagus, mushrooms, farro and I don't know what else, but it was fantastic if I could have that side on its own as well, I would order more. My husband's pork was crispy and delicious with another incredible slaw topping, and it was so massive he has to take home like a third of it for dessert. We had the lemon meringue tart for dessert, which was also incredible and so refreshing for a dessert. All of the food was outrageously fresh and just outstanding. This restaurant is our new favorite place and on the way out we even made a reservation for three weeks from now to come back. This is probably the best restaurant that I've eaten at in Ridgewood hands down and I'm so glad that they are in the area. The restaurant adds a new vibe with food that is so phenomenal to match. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area as a MUST try. Of course me and my husband will be going back in a few weeks and we can't wait.

This was obviously an emotional day for our family, but he and his team created exactly the right atmosphere: elegant and classy, but still warm, comfortable, and family-centered. Our group of 32 guests was able to relax, talk, laugh, remember my mother, and truly enjoy being together. The food was outstanding from start to finish. This is authentic Italian cuisine prepared with real care. Every dish was flavorful, beautifully presented, and memorable. There was not a single mediocre item served. The short ribs and branzino were particular standouts, but honestly, everything was excellent. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff was warm, attentive, and genuinely hospitable. When we went through all the bread, they went across the street to a local bakery to get more. When we were short on white wine, they helped procure additional bottles. At the end of the meal, Massimo even gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne to take home as a thank you. Those kinds of gestures say a lot about the heart of a restaurant. Every person in our group raved about the experience. Osteria Sola is a hidden gem right in the middle of town, and more people need to discover it. We are deeply grateful to Massimo and his team for helping us honor my mother with such a beautiful meal and such genuine hospitality.

Don't go too far, because somehow they're able to move the tables without making folks feel rushed. Each person we encountered -- the host, the folks at the counter, our server -- was nicer than the last. I got a bowl that had slightly cooked spinach, poached eggs, sweet potatoes and that GOHgeous avocado I mentioned above. One thing I really liked about this bowl is that it didn't have rice in it -- something that would've made it too overwhelming. This was the perfect combo and portion size. Dressing was just right as well - not overwhelming, but enough to definitely taste it. + Beef and Lamb Gyro Pita - Tender and tasty gyro meat. Pitas were stuffed pretty well. Had some tzatziki sauce mixed inside along with onions, lettuce and tomatoes. Definitely the best of the 3 gyro meats we ordered, but also could have used improvements too - like being juicier and warmer. + Chicken Gyro Pita - Decent. Once again, stuffed with gyro meat. Chicken gyro was good, but not great. Could have been a bit more juicier and warmer. - Pork Gyro Pita - The worst out of the 3 pitas we ordered. The pork gyro was dry and could have used an abundance of tzatziki to offset the lack of moisture in the meat. + Baklava - Staff was nice enough to give small pieces of it on the house and it was good. Most baklava tend to be overly sweet, but not this one. Was just enough of a serving size to crave more! THE SERVICE ------------------- + Employees, specifically the maître'd, were friendly and greeted us on entrance and exiting of the restaurant. + Waiters were efficient in taking our order, bringing out the food quickly and clearing our table of finished plates. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------- + Spacious interior. Plenty of tables and seats. + Like most Greek restaurants, a lot of white and blue colors inside. - No private parking lot. Street parking only. When we sat down, the server brought a small bowl of complimentary popcorn, which was a welcoming touch. My nephew ordered the short rib benny and he cleaned off the plate. He thought it was a savory bomb. I had him try their horchata, which was his first time trying, and he loved it. I ordered the Thai chicken salad. I like that they use Goffle Road chicken and it came out nice and tender. The veggies were fresh and good quality. I also thought the portion size was perfect. I asked for the dressing on the side and the dressing came in two small cups. One seemed to be a mix of soy and oil, I think there was a bit of sesame oil too. The other was a creamy dressing. I was expecting, nutty, sweet and savory dressing, but it was kind of bland mayo like dressing. The dressing would have also benefited from acid like lime juice. While I liked the salad, the dressing was a let down, so I'm not sure if I would order that dish again, The service was wonderful, everyone was smiling and our server was attentive. I would definitely try again and next time, looking forward to trying some of their brunch/breakfast dishes.
