This is our favorite sushi place in town. We usually get to-go, but we dined in last night and had an exceptionally lovely time. First of all, the "big nasty roll" is the most delicious thing on the menu. If you like giant savory sushi with a ton of meat, get this. It's tasty. My partner always gets it, he's a big guy and it's filling. I got the Hawaiian roll and sweet dream roll. They are two of the rolls with no rice, and they are both amazing. I might slightly prefer the Hawaiian roll, they have a similar flavor profile with the ponzu sauce, but the Hawaiian was a little sweeter. My friend was amazed that they had beef tataki, it's not too common of a dish but it's her favorite, and she said it was delicious! We were expecting great food and Sakura absolutely delivered on that front. We also got the sweetest most attentive server! She happily pointed out her favorites items, gave us ideas for next time, kept our drinks filled, and really made the experience delightful. Thanks for everything Angelle! Quick note to the owners: guys you need to fix your website. Your patrons don't need to be assaulted with pop ups while looking at items to buy from you. Get rid of the ad banner across the top that takes up over 50% of the readable content. You're better than this. read more

This was our first time trying this place, I found it by looking on google for something close by. The place itself is pretty nice and the waitress Adrianna was super nice and friendly. She likes anime like us and she gave us some anime stickers. The seats could use some upgrades due to splitting but I liked the lights in the place. The soup was amazing and didn't need any extra salt it was perfect. The food I had was good but my only complaint is that the rice was cold and the steak was like warm. My kids food was not hot either but they liked the way it tastes. We will go back and try some other food and hopefully it will be hot. read more

Wasn't sure if I wanted to eat here at first glance. Not gonna lie, it doesn't look like much on the outside & the inside isn't the best either, but it was decently clean. There were a few patrons inside, so we decided to go ahead & give it a shot. We placed our orders & were promptly given onion soup. We ordered a sushi appetizer to share & it came within 10 minutes. I didn't get a great pic because my boys jumped into it almost immediately, but the sushi was freshly prepared & delicious. We all ordered hibachi dishes of some variety. Mine included ribeye & shrimp. The ribeye was cooked perfectly. The shrimp was a tad overdone, but still enjoyable. The rice & veggies were well seasoned. My husband's included tuna & scallops. The tuna was a bit dry, he would've preferred it to be a bit rarer. The scallops were seared perfectly. One of my son's had salmon. This, I highly recommend. The seasoning & cook of the salmon was beyond belief. The flavor was so good. I'm actually glad we stopped by & gave it a chance. I will try some of the other menu items later, as the menu was massive! I still recommend that anyone stop by and give this place a chance. Looks can be deceiving. read more

Everything was mediocre. I had the steak and chicken teriyaki and it was incredibly dry. I had to get a bowl of teriyaki just for it to be edible. The zucchini was really undercooked and hard. The rice did not have good flavor and the peas in it looked like they had been sitting out for a long time. Our sushi rolls were mostly lettuce so that was a disappointment. Only getting three stars at all bc our server (I think her name was Larissa) was PHENOMENAL and the only great thing about our dinner. Soup was not hot even though was given as soon as we sat down. We were a group of 9 n no problems with seating. Food preparation was quick but my dish Seafood Delight was bland n they overcooked the salmon which was very dry. Faces in group did not seem pleased with their plates either. The manager she's is very rude and she also wanted her underage employees to work behind the bar and would try to hold there tips of that didn't do it even though it's against the law for them to be back there!! Every time I visit Florence, I have lunch with my sister at Sakura. We don't just go there because it's convenient (it's not far from my sister's workplace), but the food is real good as well! The lunch rush normally hits at about noon. It gets crowded, but there are always plenty of seats available from what I've seen, so no need to break your neck to get there in time. There's plenty of seating...a bar area up front, plus a full dining area on the other side. I always order some type of sushi roll, and they are always pretty decent. The service is good, the people are friendly...there's nothing more that I could ask from Sakura. My sister always gets some type of steak dish with rice. She likes to put a lot of some kind of sauce on her dish...I have no idea what it is, but she seems to like it a lot, so I trust her and I will recommend it! LOL I really think that their miso soup is some type of chicken broth though...I could be wrong, but that's what it tastes like. It's worrisome, but it didn't bother me too much, maybe because I was visiting family and wasn't really concerned. Like I said, I could be wrong about that though, but it did look and taste like chicken broth, so Vegans be careful. This restaurant raised their prices on almost every item by $1.50 to $2.00. and the price of a small container of sauce from $.50 to $1.00. and they charge $1.00 for a glass of tap water. Sakura is a great compliment to Florence dining. They offer great Japanese hibachi sir meals at a very budget friendly price. Sushi is one of my favorites to order here. This is not 5 star premium, but more of a "blue collar" sushi bar. That being said the tuna has always been fresh, the rolls made well. But prices that will not break the bank. read more

When I first moved to Florence, I went searching for a good Japanese hibachi place that didn't involve sitting around a giant grill amidst a din of clanking metal and airborne food. I was happy to find this place because the food was good, the prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were good. They offered a nice variety of hibachi dishes like red snapper and grouper. However as time went on, everything went down hill. On my last visit, which was months ago, I decided not to waste my time and money here anymore. The fish I ordered was cold but burnt to a crisp, the rice hard and dry, and the sushi was a sad roll that fell apart on the plate. To add insult to injury, the service was terrible. I don't know if the manager was out or what but we saw our server maybe 3 times throughout the night. More so we saw her the whole time, leaning against the bar and texting while talking to someone from the kitchen while our drinks went unfilled and our food cooled on the counter near her. And it wasn't as if it was busy either. There was one other table with us. That's it. The main reason I'm giving it a two star rather than a one is because I did have good experiences there once upon a time. Maybe they'll improve in the future but I'm not willing to go back anytime soon. read more

I was very disappointed with our meal. We ate here last night and the service was beyond awful. The waitress failed to bring us silverware, drink refills or napkins. She was standing at our table drinking a drink asking us if we wanted tea when both of our glasses were clearly empty. We ordered an appetizer that came out after our food. We asked for a fire roll of sushi which comes out on fire and she brought us the wrong sushi. I asked her if she was sure that was the right dish and she was adamant that it was. I explained that it typically has come out on fire, would she mind double checking. She huffed and said I'll check. Comes back and tells us we were right they're making it now. I ordered the chicken seasame for my main course and it was improperly plated. She told me I was wrong when I asked her why I had no pineapple, zucchini or grilled onions. Then after checking the menu, she yelled across the restaurant "oh, sorry..you were right." Instead of bringing me the missing items, she comes back and asks oh do you want them to put them on the grill? To top off our experience, the restaurant was overly noisy. A table of teenagers was extremely loud and rude. Never once did the waitress ask them to be considerate of others and tone it down. Needless to say, what used to be one of our favorite places to eat has quickly become a place I don't care to dine at again. read more

My son and I stopped in for a late lunch a a treat for getting my taxes done. It had been a couple of years since I been here but remember the tempura being good. On entering, found the interior a bit run down but otherwise serviceable. The staff was friendly and attentive. We ordered a bit too much sushi and while waiting for a to-go box a large roach appeared on the wall at our table, wandered up a bit and disappeared again. The most amazing spicy chicken. I always go to Sakura when I'm in Florence I love it a lot.

I prefer to get pick-up orders from here. It never takes long-only about 15 minutes to get your togo order. The spicy chicken is superb.

I love the food here. It is absolutely delicious and you get a huge amount... however, be ready to pay a pretty penny. If it were a bit more affordable, I would eat here all the time. It is certainly worth it, though so don't hesitate to visit. Sakura by far has the best sushi and the most authentic Japanese food in Florence. read more
