Ordered the soft shell crab tempura as a starter and it came fancy on a bed of salad topped with seaweed salad and tobiko, drizzled with unagi sauce. It was crunchy and delicious. Also ordered the Dragon roll, was awesome. Avocado was ripe and creamy and had just enough sauce with rice. Ponzu sauce was so good to dip in. Salmon nigiri was light, fresh, and the salmon to rice ratio was perfect. Server was polite and helpful. On the leeward side of Oahu (Ko' olina) on vacation, and we've been pretty limited in dining options due to covid. Sakura looked fun, and since Kapolei is within 15 min of our resort, we have it a shot... ended up being a great choice. We sat at one of the Hibachi tables, and had a great time. As a customer I called the day at 5:00 pm to confirm if my reservation are still good and it was. So we arrived about 8:15 notify them . Ambiance was amazing !! First looks outside super nice and clean. The hostess wasn't too enthusiastic and seemed like she was having a bad night didn't greet us when we entered and had low energy. But to make up for that the server, chefs and bartender was great! We enjoyed watching Akoni from a distance he's energetic, funny, and played the best music with his block rocker! He knows how to get everyone involved and have a good time even though he wasn't our chef. Our chef was Collin! He was great too he had some crazy tricks and kept good conversation also good music. We had best of both worlds with Chef's specialty Sushi rolls & Combo Hibatchi Steak & Calamari and ALL were amazing! For all that we spent under $100. Our server was Neil or Neal he was funny too ! Good portions and tasty food. Ordered the Surf and Turf. It's fairly new, opened about a week ago. The manager came by to say hi, asked how our food was and told us they were having a grand opening in a few weeks. She also thanked us for coming in. The waiter was nice but forgot my side order of noodles, but didn't want it anymore since there was a lot already on my plate. When the check came, the noodles were still on the bill and the waiter didn't realize it. Also, expected that the waiter would check up on us and refilled our water during the time we were eating, but didn't which is why I'd rate Sakura with 4 stars. Only redeeming quality for Sakura were the Hibachi chefs. We've been here twice and both times the servers were lacking to say the least. Refills for drinks seem to be a commodity. You'll have to ask for refills and even then it's not guaranteed. The first time we went, we had no water refills despite asking three times until we left. Our server tonight was not wearing his mask properly (hanging by his chin) while taking our order. It also seemed like he and the Hibachi chef were having disagreements while both working within the same grill space. The Hibachi chefs on the otherhand were entertaining both times and was able to get the table participating without taking it too far. The check took too long to come out, so we had to ask the server/host to check up on it. Most of our table had gone out of the table but the paying person stayed in the table with the check until no one got it so we had to go up to the desk to pay. They assumed we had dined-dashed, assumingly without checking the table first because then they would've seen the person and check, because they asked a host to chase us out saying we hadn't paid. Mind you, the rest of our table was hanging around either in the lobby waiting area or right outside of the restaurant. This wasn't really her fault, she seemed new and only taking orders, but the lack of caution by not checking the table or checking in with the actual server first really lacked professionalism. i only gave this review stars because the staff was super friendly and nice. However my best friend and I went there this past week, ordered the Kapolei boat. the sushi was good or we would've thought if we haven't seen little baby german roaches crawling on the boat and on the ginger/wasabi. Not only one but two of them As my best friend was speaking with the manager at our table, i looked in the cracks of the boat floor and notice there was a roaches egg! We felt even more sick they comp our meal (still had to pay for our drinks though) and offered to bring us another one but we wasn't not feeling it after that. i was a little upset they left some of the sushi from the boat on our table as if we were going to finish that. So if you decided to go there, check the boats for insects first and if Sakura is reading this, I highly recommended you clean each of your boats as well. We visited on a Sunday for lunch expecting to get the lunch specials. Unfortunately we weren't told until after we were seated, and ordered drinks that lunch specials are not valid on Sundays. Y'all I REALLY wanted to love the new location for Sakura out in Kapolei but everything was sooo disappointing. We got there right after opening at 11am on Saturday for lunch to have hibachi and they didn't actually decide to open until almost 1115am then they took us to a table and sat us down but didn't come back until 1145 to even get our drink orders I tried ordering the Filet mignon which I know is on the dinner menu and has the dinner price, but the server said that this location absolutely does not serve it unless it's dinner hours. I pointed out that it was Saturday and they had dinner menu prices all day per their sign on the front door. I don't know if the chef was new but he dropped the utensils a few times which they landed on the grill except for one switch they landed on the floor and he picked back up and try just to wipe it off and use and I pointed out that that had hit the floor where he was standing and I would prefer him not to cook my food with it. He walked away and came back 10 minutes later. We frequent Mililani location multiple times a month, I know LOL we're obsessed, so I know what the food should taste like and this was far from it. It's like he forgot the sauce on the noodles and only cooked the meat with salt and pepper which normally it has tons of seasoning and whatever sauces they put on there but this was bland Although he did use lemon on my steak because somebody had ordered shrimp so that was an interesting addition I would not recommend the server only came by one time during the meal to grab the miso empty bowls and I asked for a refill and they said okay but didn't bring it back- 10 min later- I looked all over and all the employees were standing behind the bar, there were 11 total, they were on their phones and talking to each other so I walked up our cups and got refills that way. Our server apologized multiple times and offered the kids free juice. When the chef finally came... our grill apparently wasn't turned on so he left again. They offer both sushi and a cook in front of you experience. The sushi is meh. Disappointing for the price. The cook in front of you experienced is pretty good. It's pricey too, but the food is good and depending on the chef (we've gone twice - one was great and one was sooo boring). Tanaka of Tokyo is better, but it's still worth a go at least once. It's nice to have a place like this out on the west side. I hope they can get their chefs to be consistently fun. Service was great from the time a reservation was made over the phone, 6 days prior. The young man who answered was polite and efficient. We called and confirmed the day prior and to check if we could bring our own birthday cake, which was not a problem. Our party consisted of 15 which included 4 children, 3 teens and 8 adults. Our family was extremely happy celebrating our mama's 75th birthday here. Fun night out! We were greeted very graciously by the host, a tall thin young man and seated immediately. Our waiter, Vincent was so accommodating with separate tickets and many drinks orders. Colin was our chef, the food was so good. We had everything from chicken to lobster and everything was exceptional. The bartender, Darren stopped by our table and was also very friendly. Food was pretty good but SERVICE WAS BAD. I went with a group of 8 ppl for a baby shower. We all ordered food, many of us had the same order of the chicken. All of our food came except for one girl's dish (the same chicken we all had). Long story short her food took ONE HOUR AND A HALF TO COME. Maybe 15-20 min after we got our food We asked the waiter to check on the missing order. She said the kitchen messed up and it is coming soon. Another 30 min went by, we asked again... she said 2 minutes. Still didn't come. Automatic gratuity of 18% for a party of 5 that he barely even serviced. On top of that there was still a tip option on the receipt. It's a good thing I read the receipt thoroughly. We were told drink tickets were 1 ticket per drink on their menu except for big bottles which is understandable. They were charging 2 tickets for any mixed drinks or shots. We were suppose to get 1 sushi roll and individual sashimi per guest, but they put 4 rolls on a boat and maybe 4 servings of sashimi for 12 guests. 2 boats per table of 24. They only had 4 chefs when we had 10 stations going at once. The last 2 stations got their food 2 hours after the first table. Very poor experience. read more

Don't get me wrong the food is good, no complaint there but it all starts with first impressions and how you walk in and are greeted. The Host are a hit or miss tonight they were good a little confused but they were nice. Same thing about the manager she was nice but that's about it not really helpful. If your paying your money to an establishment you expect to be treated with some respect just like they expect you to pay at the end of it all. Tonight my family had dinner here. Our server was yoyo and our chef was Johnny. The service was absolutely amazing. All of the staff were awesome. We ordered the Spider-Man Roll, edamame, gyoza, shumai & we ordered from the hibachi dinner entrees. My family and I had the Emperors Feast & Sakura VIP Special For Two. I would like to rate everything there as a 10 out of 10. What I was impressed with the most was the ribeye. The steak was so good. It melted when you ate it. We will definitely go back again. The service was the best that I have ever had because ALL of the staff was great, not just Yoyo & Johnny. Yoyo was so quick with bringing all of our food to the table. Johnny was very entertaining and the food he cooked up for us was so good. The price was right. The atmosphere was so fun. The customers at the other grills were dancing and singing with the other chefs. Last but not least, we did complete our dinner close to closing time. What I witnessed was incredible.
