If i could give 0 STARS i would. let me start by saying I'm NOT from the Houston area. I planned a trip to Houston and checked Groupon for a good deal on food. I seen this place and the pictures of the food looked delicious so I bought it. I drove 15 minutes from my hotel when I arrived to get to them and me and my family were super excited to try the food. Upon walking by the waiters in the Cafe not once was i greeted. I go in and there's probably like 2 tables with ppl at em. the host has a disgusted look on his face. I explain to him that I have a Groupon to redeem and he immediately shuts me down and says THOSE ARE ONLY FOR MON -FRI and Sunday but NOT TODAY. Knowing me I ALWAYS read the fine print to make sure it includes the date I want to go so I'm like OH REALLY he's like YES ITS FOR EVERYDAY BUT TODAY (SATURDAY)so I'm like well how do I redeem it anyways bc I know it's for curbside or takeout (while I'm telling him this I'm purposely looking up the coupon I bought ) He's like YEA ITS NOT FOR DINE IN mind you I wasn't expecting to I wanted it to go anyways. So I finally find the coupon and it literally says VALID 7 DAYS A WEEK. I show him that and he looks kinda pissed and goes and shoes someone and comes back. He then PROUDLY says well it has to be to go. I again state I wanted it to go anyways. So he's like OK you cab order again I'm not from here and OBVIOUSLY never been here and not ONE TIME did he offer to help me offer any suggestions or anything. He was Very dismissive. When I finally attempted to order even though I had no idea what I was getting. I couldn't fine one of the things I wanted to order and this man had NO PATIENCE fr me and immediately says DO YOU NEED MORE TIME. Like ugh I had my kids with me so I didn't want to go off in front of them but I felt totally disrespected. Anywho once we do get our food (it was ready WAY too fast so I knew it would be a problem) this is what we got. i wouldnt feed this to a DOG! This ONE plate was 24 dollars by the way. They obviously don't want my business and I definitely won't give it to them again. Now I see why they were Groupon not worth the money or drive AT ALL! I'm disgusted with this place whoever is management here needs to teach his employees discrimination is NEVER ok. read more

Let me start off by saying, THIS WAS THE BEST STEAK MY HUSBAND HAS EVER HAD IN HIS LIFE. With that being said, the service was incredible, everyone was friendly, and most importantly our waiter Christian was very knowledgeable about the menu, the cuts of meat, and his recommendations. I highly recommend this restaurant. We also tried the empanadas. They were good, could have been a bit warmer but the flavor was there. The chimichurri sauce was AMAZING. I was not a fan of the mashed potatoes, I think they had olives and tomatoes in them (I'm not big on olives) so that was a personal preference. COVID-19 Precautions- There was adequate spacing in the restaurant, they even had a separate area partitioned with glass-- we didn't sit there but if I knew it was there I would have as well. I really enjoyed this place from service to food. I had the lobster stuffed shells topped with crab, amazing flavor and presentation. The complementary beead and chips were also pretty amazing. I wasn't a fan of the white sauce on top and would have just preferred chimichurri sauce but that's just a preference thing. The mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned. The pork tenderloin was perfectly tender and seasoned. The chimichurri on top really highlighted the dish. My mouth is watering as I think back to its memory. Yum!! Dessert: ordered the house four leche cake and some kind of authentic dessert from the menu (forgot the name) the cake was BOMB. For valentines we decided to try the 3 course meal they were having. We were on a double date and it was my fir time there. now the food was excelent however our server was terrible. First he forgo an additional appetizer we had ordered. At that time we were having a great time so we didn't mind it. for dessert I had asked him for bread pudding later on he informed me that thwre was no. So I asked for the 4 leches cake. It is also my birthday month so we did let him know and he brought a candle and happy birthday on it. However when I tried it he brought the tiramisu. I called him over and said i wanted the 4 leches and he replied with, "oh and you realized it after eating half of the cake?" What a great find! Everything was so delicious. The service was great. And the drinks were strong (as they should be). My waiter was great in helping me decide between different items on the menu and explaining any sauces or names I didn't understand. I bought a Groupon (4 course meal for 2) for this place for my 6th year anniversary and I am so glad that I did! After reading other reviews, I was so worried about having issues, but we didn't. I did call to make reservations and told them about the Groupon to ensure that everything went smoothly. I think the restaurant just doesn't want people to abuse the promotions by bringing 4 people to share a Groupon that is meant for 2 people. Yes, I know it doesn't make sense and we should be able to use our Groupon however we like, but if you want to eat here, just follow the rules. We had reservations at 6pm and it was relatively slow, but definitely started to pick up by 7pm! I was so glad that we came when we did because I just felt like it was quieter and more intimate. The waiters were all so nice and professional. We truly felt catered to! They were attentive, but not over-bearing. I came down to visit some girlfriends that I graduated UT with to spend the weekend and this was on the list of places to visit in the town and country area because of the great reviews. The Mango and Seafood salads were cool and refreshing on an unusually hot evening. The Entrana a la Parrilla was so well seasoned and tender that it melted in your mouth, accentuated by the excellent chimichurri sauce. The Chilean Sea Bass was cooked perfectly, firm yet succulent. We ended our meals perfectly with cappuccino and sweet Apple Bread Pudding and Dulce de Leche crepe desserts. The service was impeccable. Also compared to the other meats on their menu, it seemed like a good deal. The meats were cooked well and seasoned delightfully. They were a little rarer than I usually get (I got medium rare) but I trust that they were cooked from highly skilled chefs. The leches dessert was super moist and realllyyyy good. I normally do not leave poor reviews, but I am flabbergasted at the way the general manager treated us. We have come here a few times, and always recommend this place to our friends/family because there are lots of options and the food is great. We are definitely not coming here again. My husband found a Groupon this time, and I was excited we didn't have to pay so much. Groupon was for 4, but our 4th couldn't come last minute. No matter! We let them know that we have a Groupon upon reservation, and enjoy the meal. We added drinks and knew that it would be an add on to Groupon. Then came the bill. We reminded them of our Groupon, and then the general manager, Kevin, came. He told us that our Groupon is not valid because we are 3 people, and the Groupon is for 4. It doesn't say anywhere that the amount of people on the Groupon have to be there. This man was so rude, did not even crack us a smile, and treated us as if we were trying to steal from him. If you have some sort of policy, there is a way to at least be kind about it. This guy was just a bully. He made us have to buy another Groupon that was meant to 2, which basically meant we didn't save any money. When my husband asked for his name, this man literally chased behind us to the front door and shoved a "complaint card" in our hands and said "here's the card. Go make a complaint". So rude. We were honored to be seat with Fabiana Bracco the Director of Bracco Bosca Winery! The menu drifted from what was originally posted, but only for the better!! The lamb chop was the best I've ever tasted, charred on the outside med-rare on the inside with great wood fired flavor. A perfect little steak also cooked excellently; but then that's what you get accustomed to at Say Y Pimienta. Way too much food and equal amounts of 5 different wines and one bubbly. We were doing some shopping in the area and my sister in law proclaimed her love for this Uruguayan place, so as it was lunchtime we decided to stop in. What a great decision it turned out to be. As we entered we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. We were lucky enough to be seated in a glassed in room and surrounded by an extensive collection of wines. The lunch menu was twofold. There were a la carte options or you could choose from a sort of fix prixe menu. I went that route. Our wait staff was amazing. I mean it too. I would put these guys up against the best service I've had in the finest restaurants I've visited. Our drink and lunch orders were taken, and soon thereafter our drinks were delivered. I went with flounder ceviche as my starter, mahi mahi with quinoa and broccolini as my main, and flan for dessert. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. This was the first time I'd ever had flounder ceviche, and the flavor was light, fresh and bright. Just so good!! The mahi mahi was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The quinoa was different than any I'd had before. There were no mix ins - it stood alone. It was earthy and more bold than I expected. The broccolini was equally appetizing. I ate everything on my plate. The waiter also brought sautéed peppers and onions to the table. I had some, but they were just a little too spicy for me. Last, but certainly not least, was the flan. I had high expectations for Sal y Pimienta as I had heard a lot of hype about it, but at the end of the day, it was underwhelming and under achieving. It was just average. Located in the heart of city center, we went there on a Sunday early evening. We walked in and it was kinda chilly inside, so we opted to sit outside at the patio with a canopy above us. It was a nice bright sunny day, so we were satisfied with our seating arrangements. After a few minutes, our server came by and gave us a few recommendations. We went with lemonade as our drinks and it was pretty good. For appetizer, we ordered the ceviche. This is a Uruguayan restaurant, so their version of ceviche is slightly different from the traditional Mexican version. They used founder fish and a lot of lemon. I still liked it. Had a acidic kick to it. For the main course, I ordered the Asado de vacio ( 10oz akaushi flank) served with chimichurri sauce and carnival potatoes. My friend ordered the picanha (10oz Brazilian cut). After 20minutes our waiter come back saying that they ran out of Picanha. WTF bro!!! After all this time? And now my food is almost ready and her's is at square one. She asked for the menu back and went with Entrana (10oz inside skirt). I told them to bring both items together . Finally both items arrived. The entrana was good. Cooked medium, juicy and tender with flavor. I did not like my Asado Vacio. It was dry, and without flavor and definitely well done, when I had specifically asked for medium and the waiter had agreed. Also I had never imagined in my wildest dreams that the potatoes would be smothered with bacon all around, as the menu did not specify that. So I lost out on the potatoes due to my anti pork restrictions. We did not opt for any dessert as our bellies were full by now. I have been meaning to try the brunch on Sunday so this was on my list. Instead we went for a birthday dinner. Made reservations. Although it was during the week and it would have been fine at 7:30 to just walk in as a party of two- I'd suggest reservations regardless. I wasn't sure what we were winding up with so here goes. It is a really great vibe, decor is nice. We were greeted by the host/manager, got a great table, they have a very nice wine menu and not very expensive- we had a fantastic malbec blend. The menu is also interesting. We wound up selecting for the meat block and sharing. The meat was incredible. The sides were great too. The service was impeccable, the manager/host came by to check on us. I definitely want to go back for the brunch now. read more

Sal Y Pepper is unique in the very nice but otherwise sterile Town Center development as an authentic Uruguayan steak & wine house. I love how the chefs grill prime Texas and South American beef so close to where you sit you can hear the sizzle and smell the flavor. The host and wait staff always seem to enjoy making the dining experience an event as it should be. They present the world class beef telling a bit about each cut and farm it comes from. We eat here about once a month hosting visiting team members from different parts of the US and they always enjoy and remember. We usually order the filet and the bone in rib eye family style. Both are amazing! Vegetables here are a distraction and I personally don't order any. The wine list is heavy South American. Some excellent Argentinian and Uruguayan values in $50 range. Last night we enjoyed an epic 2012 Watermill, $72 Cab from Wala Wala, OR. The waiter promised it would drink like a $300 Napa monster. He was right. Satiny, rich, smooth, with vanilla finish. Really enjoyed dinner last night! Friendly, considerate service, wonderful lobster pasta and spinach salad. I had the best veal sweetbreads I've since I was in France! And the Uruguayan Sauvignon Blanc was delicious, too. We'll be back for sure. It does get a bit noisy, but oh well. The private party rooms looked really nice, too. read more

The food was great and the portions sizes were decent, you'll find some things that have been hard for us to find in Texas in Argentinian/Uruguayan restaurants like Matambre (very good) and the service and atmosphere were great. It's located in CityCentre which is like a tiny super wealthy city onto itself. There's parking on the street if you're lucky (meter) and a garage, relatively easy compared to the rest of Houston. read more
