Fettuccine and Shrimp

Love going to Arturo's! It seems to be the hidden gem in that neighborhood. Very intimate, cozy and romantic but also a great atmosphere for family dinners. Arturo is a remarkably talented chef and has had various restaurants in Houston for years. I love the bread! My favorites are the mussels, house salad that is enormous - love the hearts of palm, and the shrimp pasta pesto. I'm sure everything is delicious and the seafood dishes have gotten rave reviews. Nice creme brûlée taste at the end! Wish they had a full bar but it's just beer and wine. Service is consistently good. Valet is available but I've never used it.

I didn't intend to eat at this restaurant initially, the restaurant across the street had a bar that was full so I decided to come here instead. Very quaint, but nice ambience inside, the wait staff were incredibly hospitable and put a seat at the bar for me so I thought that it was going to be a good experience. Unfortunately, the owner was incredibly condescending to me and even made a comment about "watching me "and that he had cameras. I am a person who spends a good deal of money at restaurants, and so I was incredibly appalled at his remarks. Saying something in a joking manner does not make it better. Please know that my server was amazing and I let her know about my experience, and she apologized for him and insinuated that this was not the first time he had offended a customer. I will not be back. Please make your decision wisely.

4 top table in the wine cellar makes for a cool and uniquely Houston experience

This neighborhood gem is the complete package. The valet is a permanent fixture and is friendly and professional. Fresh and tasty specials every night, a wood burning oven for pizzas and rolls - and an excellent wine selection. Service makes you feel comfortable - as they have a professional and tenured waitstaff. The red snapper, carnitas pizza and mussels with the jalapeño/tomatillo broth are unique and worthy. If you have a party of 4 and you are very proactive - you can book the wine cellar table. Expect Arturo to say hello. Such a nice touch. And the crème brûlée spoons are perfect ending. Just love this place.

Dear foodie readers, a new review, I have been a little off my game...a lot going on, but let's get to why you are reading this...Arturo Boada...nestled on del monte street in in the briar grove area...unfortunately the facade doesn't do it justice, but I felt it added to the charm of the whole experience...it's a small space, I recommend reservations...we were welcomed by the super friendly staff...once we sat down, we took in the vibe...I loved that it was just a tad old school...nothing over the top...and honestly no need for fancy, because his food is fantastic. We started with delicious garlic bread, along with the sautéed calamari....yes you read that correctly...sautéed, and let me tell you, wayyyy better than fried....the garlic and oil sauce was beyond amazing, we wanted to dab anything we could in it, it was that good. We also had the ceviche, was excellent as well. Our entrees next, I had one of specials, it was branzino with crab on top, sheer perfection. Simple no frills, and paired with some veggies...my husband got the tuna, and enjoyed it as well. My kids loved their steak and pasta. We then ordered dessert, 3 of them, we couldn't resist, I was celebrating my anniversary so why not. In house pistachio gelato, apple tart, and flourless chocolate cake...can't say which was my favorite, they were all wonderful. The best part is Arturo comes and visits his guests, very hospitable man. Thank you for a great evening.

I've only been here once, first time on Wednesday 02/10 for a surprise early Valentine's dinner from husband. We were also accompanied by two of our kids (elementary kid and preschooler). The staff-awesome- in welcoming us to the restaurant, and even considerate to our kids. There were no eye rolls or scoffing, lol, at us. They offered custom off menu items for us as well, especially with children accompanying us. SERVICE: We were politely asked permission to have our temperatures taken and hand sanitizer, I absolutely love that it wasn't something forced upon us! Doors were held for us upon entry and exiting. Tables were separated well enough apart. Drinks refilled in a timely manner, plates moved in a timely manner, food was given in great timing, everyone was extremely polite including the chef himself, server knew the menu items, and just all around great service! FOOD: -Tacos Snapper-YUMMY, best fish in a taco I have ever had! Seasoning, flavor, moisture-it was all PERFECTION with the the fish. The tortillas, I wouldn't say it's store bought, but the taste similarly aligns with that. Overall, if you're a fish taco lover like me-this was still a good choice. -Cauliflower soup-YUMMY -Tuna Tartare-Decent, slightly salty -Charred tomato basil-eh okay, server warned us it wasn't like La Madeleine style tomato basil which we were okay with, but tasted like gas to me. -"Why Not" Margherita Pizza-YUMMY, even kids enjoyed this pizza dish, everyone did -Rigatoni Pasta-decent, chicken was more dry than wanted for me and pasta could've been slightly softer. Sauce was good -House spaghetti marinara side order- kids ENJOYED, I liked it as well. -Frutti Di Mare-Husband was absolutely DELIGHTED with this dish DESSERT: -Tiramisu-Not for me, I was not a fan with unexpectedly tasting an orange flavored Tiramisu -Key Lime Pie-although it definitely tastes homemade with real limes, it was too soggy and more tart than would like. -Wood oven baked Apple Pastry-favorite dessert of all for husband and kid, I didn't try -Creme brûlée- to be fair, we did not order this, but got complimentary spoons of tasting for this. I think getting the spoons didn't do it justice how we tasted it...so tip, I heard if it's your first visit and you don't order any dessert you may be able to get the whole creme brûlée complimentary. AGAIN, we have only been here once. Although some of the food items could have been better, the service made the entire experience feel like 5 stars. However, don't expect it to be five star dining with hot towels, someone waiting by your table to collect crumbs, seat pulling each time, and coat collection-it wasn't like that. It was just a great, laid-back welcoming atmosphere!

Chef Arturo is highly passionate about his creations and it shows in every dish. This is my 6th time and have never been disappointed. They have an excellent selection of wines which are paired well with each dish. Do try the chef tasting menu as it's an amazing feast.

What an amazing place. The outside looks like a regular establishment, however, do not let that fool you- this place is AMAZING! Party of 4 - mama sonia ravioli, snapper with potatoes, rigatoni was to "die" for! Creme brûlée for dessert was delicious! The establishment is beautiful! The owner Arturo is AMAZING!!! The waiters attentive and friendly. The next time I come to Houston, I will definitely come back! Best place to eat authentic, delicious, Italian food.

The staff is super friendly, and we were welcomed as we were (we had hoped to eat at a sister establishment but they sold out of what we wanted). Mimo's offers a great selection of Italian inspired apps, three well appointed pizzas, a few varied and surprising options for pasta dishes, and some mains. Items we tried: Pane - delicious Roasted Carrot Pizza - AMAZING, A little spicy, but definitely something we would order again. Pastas we ordered initially came out cold - our incredible waiter immediately corrected the issue. But from a flavor profile - Pansotti - sooooo delicious. You'd never guess that it was a vegetarian option - the mushrooms were so meaty. The delicate pouches with the spinach and ricotta were heavenly. Pappardelle - The lamb braised sauce had a depth of flavor that could rival any restaurant in Italy. My only tiny hope was that the pasta would have been served aldente, it was a little overcooked. But to each his own. Overall - really great. Would recommend. This would be great for a weeknight dinner or an off the beaten path date night.

We chose patio seating, which was nice because the interior is quite dim -- although I now have 7 mosquito bites. I overall thought the food was good but nothing was stellar. We ordered the house salad and Capicola, which was a mistake because flavor-wise they were nearly identical, the main difference being that the Capicola had meat. Both salads were well done and had a nice balance of flavor and freshness. I really enjoyed the fish -- lightly salted, nutty, and crispy -- but I added the lemon it came with, which made it bitter. The rigatoni was creamy and cheesy. It was a solid pasta, nothing out of the ordinary but still enjoyable. Mimo is the type of place I would visit if I lived nearby.

The fresh red pepper offered at the table really kicked the flavor up a notch. Beet salad (8/10)- nice presentation. The fried cheese, tomatoes & candied pecans are a great complement to the beets and greens. Add the fresh cracked black pepper offered by the server. Seafood lasagna (8/10) - the seafood is not lacking! Its very seafood-forward. Salmon, shrimp, clams. You definitely know you are eating seafood. The cheese/seafood/pasta/sauce ratio is spot on, well balanced. It felt more like a seafood dish than a lasagna/pasta dish. My only complaint (and it's not really a negative) is I was in the mood for lasagna & after eating this dish, although it was very good, I still had a hankering for lasagna. Other: - Service in general was good. It was a slow day during my Sunday afternoon visit. - Bathrooms were well kept & had cool big mirrors in the hallway upon exiting the bathroom. - Parking in the attached garage is free. We ordered the tiramisu for dessert, and nowhere on the menu did it mention that it was served with a slice of kiwi hidden underneath the whipped cream. I'm allergic to kiwi, and because it was completely covered, I didn't realize it was there until after I had already taken a bite. I brought this to our server's attention, not because I was looking for a discount or anything free, but simply because I wanted the staff to be aware so this wouldn't happen to another customer with a food allergy. Instead, the first response I received was asking if I had read the menu, which I had. Unfortunately, the menu never mentioned kiwi being part of the dessert. What really bothered me was overhearing the conversation afterward. Our server spoke with another staff member a few booths away, and I heard comments along the lines of, "Well, he should've mentioned his allergy," and "He should've asked." It felt like the responsibility was being placed entirely on me rather than acknowledging that an undisclosed ingredient had been served. I understand that customers with allergies should communicate them whenever possible, but I also think restaurants have a responsibility to disclose ingredients that aren't typically expected, especially when they're hidden in the presentation. I've had tiramisu many times and have never encountered one served with kiwi tucked beneath whipped cream. Again, the food itself was good, and this review isn't about trying to get compensation. I genuinely wanted to help prevent a similar situation for someone else. Unfortunately, the way my concern was handled left me feeling dismissed and caused me to lose confidence in the restaurant's approach to food allergies.
