This place was clean and super welcoming! The music was chill and it felt/looked really clean! The bar was open and the host was very sweet and attentive! The waiter was also extremely polite and friendly! The energy felt good! I ordered a cocktail called Crazy Mango but I didn't like it. It tasted like regular mango lemonade which is tasty but it wasn't the cocktail I thought based on the name. I did LOVE that they added fresh mango! That was surprising and special! I love when bars have real fruit, I just think the mix was a little off but for the price I get it! Now... the food, OMG nothing short of AMAZING! The Shrimp Pad Thai was SOOOOO flavorful! It's literally my new favorite place to get Thai! Especially if I'm craving Pad Thai! The Chicken Basil Fried was was one of the best I've had in DC! I mean top 5 FOR SURE! It was the perfect amount of spice (even with me asking for it be mild)! The shrimp spring rolls were the freshest I've ever had! The flavors were on point! I loved every dish! I ordered via DoorDash and my food was still warm upon delivery. Here's what I got: Green Curry w/Chicken: 10/10. This was delicious! Drunken Noodle w/veggies: 9/10. Big portion and great flavor. I just wish the carrots were smaller. Pineapple fried rice: 7/10. Nothing special. Wish it had more pineapples in it. Perhaps it's because I ordered it on DoorDash but it did not come in a pineapple. Located in a new building construction near the Stadium Armory metro station. The place is modern and bright with colorful murals. Service was great, everyone was friendly, and they checked on us a few times to make sure everything was good. We got the Sushi 3 ways set (salmon) - maki roll, nigiri, and sashimi, and it came with a miso soup. The salmon was fresh, a little thickly cut, but I'm not complaining. Only downside was the seaweed wrap on the roll seemed a bit stale and once you start chewing, it was a bit tough. The seaweed used in the miso soup was also a bit strong. We also got the Sala Thai lamb and the sauce and flavors were nice. You get 3 pieces of small chops, but portions were good with the veggies. Definitely recommend their Thai food, maybe not so much the sushi, but I'd eat there again. read more

Have done to go orders a couple of times here and it hasn't disappointed for solid take out. Tried going for dine in on a Friday night before, but it was so packed we had to get items to go. Hopefully a great sign that their business will continue to flourish. Love the Pineapple Fried Rice and the noodle dishes too. If you like pork, give the Kana Moo Krob a try. The Pinky in a Blanket shrimp appetizer was OK, but would try something else next time from the Starter section of the menu. read more

This place is really good - went to their soft opening weeks back and have been back a handful of times since. They have ironed out a lot of issues with service and they have applied to stay open/serve alcohol later. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They will speak with you as much or as little as you'd like, and they do a great job describing the dishes. There are a couple really great dishes, including their Pad See Ewe (I sub the pork for shrimp) and their Kao Pad Keaw Wan Gai Krob. They also have sushi which is always made fresh. Their cocktails are very well thought out and tasty as well. It's not a huge place, but it's got a very intimate vibe inside. There are two beautiful murals inside. Located in a new building near the Stadium Armory Metro Station, this location comes with a bar, murals, and plenty of seating. Ordering takeout for pickup on a Friday evening, my order of green curry chicken and mango and sticky rice was ready withing 15 minutes. The flavor on both tasted great! We've gotten takeout from here a million times and dined in once. The food is SO GOOD. The flavors are amazing, the food is fresh, and the menu has classics and unique dishes. The staff is always so friendly and attentive, and the restaurant is really pretty and clean. Our favorites are the catfish and beef panang, but you really can't go wrong with anything. The food, service, was amazing. I greatly enjoyed the food. The yellow tail crudo had its own spin and not the typical tradition crudo some of the sauce was slightly overwhelming so we had to take some off. The Panang curry with beef did not disappoint the spice level was amazing and just full of flavor. We also had the green chicken curry equally as delicious but if you are ordering from a scale of 1-5 it was a five. I don't mind spicy so I really loved it but definitely has heat to it. The miso was fantastic ordered that as a little appetizer, and of course each curry came with a small amount of rice that was a perfect complement. We also had a Sapporo and they brought us a chilled glass for the beer, was truly a great combination. The staff there were super kind and attentive. I watched in anticipation of Sala Thai opening up in our neighborhood. We went to the grand opening and the service was awesome, but (at the time) the food was good, but not great (but we also decided to give some grace since they were just opening and had a TON of people coming through). Before leaving, we privately shared feedback and they definitely took it to heart because BAAAAABBBBYYYYY!!! When we went back on a subsequent visit, the did NOT disappoint. A whole new expanded menu where EVERYTHING was hittin'..... YOU HEAR ME?!..... The crab rangoons (with REAL crab) were fantastic! Panang Beef..... EXCELLENT!!! Full of flavor, but it has a lil' kick to it! I can't even remember what my husband had but it was phenomenal. I love how this restaurant has continued to get better every time we've come. There are a number of Sala Thai franchises around the DMV. This location is a great add to the Hill East area. It's soft opening menu featured some of their usual Thai options plus Sushi that stands out from their other locations' menus. The staff was eager to tell us about plans to come on their more upscale version of the Sala Thai locations. While I find it a bit odd to have a sushi menu at a Thai restaurant, I was very happy to have the option for miso soup since my kiddo loves it more than anything on the menu. Some mentionables include pretty darn good Thai iced tea, duck on the menu, all gender restrooms, and the soon to come lunch specials and other menu offerings. Hoping for some chicken satay over here :) As a new restaurant, they did not seem to be overwhelmed nor understaffed which is a great start. Prices are higher than I would've wished but maybe it comes with their upscale plans and the ambiance. My fam ordered and finished the Thai iced tea, pineapple fried rice, beef sukiyaki (cellophane clear noodles), and mango sticky rice - all flavorful and delicious. Kiddos ordered but did not finish their fruit punch, cranberry juice, and blueberry cheesecake pie portion of the dessert that came with ice cream lol. Would def come here again! read more

me and my man went to this location today. the food was better than nobu. the service is fast asl and everyone was friendly and kind which is really nice bc who doesn't eat better with good customer service. Its late at night and I'm still thinking about how good the food was. Really solid Thai option. We got the "Tofu in Law" appetizer, Shrimp Pad Thai, and Kapow Goong Gai (spicy Thai basil shrimp and chicken) takeout. All were really fresh and delicious. It definitely exceeded my expectations, and the food preparation was much better than the other Sala Thai locations. The service was pleasant and friendly. They had a bunch of tables for those eating in, and a bar in the middle of the restaurant with taps. Ambience was modern and nice. Gonna have to go back for a drink sometime. I want to be clear that I love this place and want them to be successful. Excellent food. Great people. But Horrible lighting. Each time we have visited we've mentioned that the bright fluorescent lights really detract from the enjoyment of the meal. Each time they've laughed and ignored us. One night we managed to get the bartender to turn the lights down a bit. But minutes later one of the other employees turned it right back up. I sincerely hope they do well and sincerely hope they understand soon why their insistence on intense bright light is keeping me, and my friends away. read more

Food is 5/5 stars. Drunken noodles are always a hit and great to go. Only took off a star due to the unfortunate layout and finishing of the restaurant itself. The bar is very large for the space and lighting is very harsh with concrete floors. Maybe not the best spot if you're going for ambiance. Having lived in Japan for several years, I can say this is on par with some of the best there. The Thai is super fresh, innovative and reasonably priced. I got the prik king moo krob (crispy fried pork belly) which was served with rice on the side and green beans and some bell peppers with the pork. My lord, that was so yummy, and it came with a great amount of pork for 18$. We got some sushi as an appetizer which was yummy, and I tried the shrimp pad Thai my dad got, the pork drunken noodle my brother got, and some of the papaya salad my mom got, and everything was great (the papaya salad wasn't quite my speed, but it was good). I patronized this particular location on Saturday 9/14/24 with my kids and had a terrible experience from a customer service standpoint. First of all I'm a frequent customer of Sala Thai at it's other locations and decided to give this one a try. I ordered sushi for my kids and myself and patiently waited about 30 minutes all to find out that the server never put our order in. After they finally put the order in, the manager came over and only offered my kids a free drink that was it. Finally,when our sushi came out, they again forgot my daughters sushi. This was a horrible experience and displayed poor customer service. The manager never offered to comp anything after that long wait and both of those mistakes. I didn't complain or ask for anything as a result but that's not good business and I will not spend my dollars here again. At least the manager should've offered to comp the food that we longly awaited and then with the 2nd mistake happening only offered a free soft drink to my children. read more

The Thai food is really good but the sushi is among the worst I've had in DC. We tried a bunch of entrees and they were all solid, good mix of hot and flavor. The sushi however was mostly rice which was also gummy and they used way too much rice vinegar. The fish itself tasted low quality and the crab was almost inedible. Overall I'd definitely go again for the thai food but would skip on the sushi. read more
