My wife, oldest son and I enjoyed a delish and filling dim sum lunch yesterday at BK's Bistro. There were a few people in line as we entered the restaurant. The line moved quickly and we were seated in around 5 minutes. The restaurant was crowded, but there were still a few tables available, when we arrived around 1:30pm. The restaurant was abuzz with guests talking, interacting with the staff and a lot of conversation going-on. We ordered Steamed BBQ Spareribs in Black Bean Sauce, Baked BBQ Pork Buns, Soy Sauce Chow Fun, Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce, Salt & Pepper Fish Filet, Har Gow (Steamed Shrimp Dumplings), Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Beef Rice Noodle Roll, Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai and Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll. We enjoyed all our dishes. They were hot and fresh. All the dishes were very good, but the Salt & Pepper Fish Filet was our fave. It had a crispy exterior and the fish inside was tender. In addition, the Baked BBQ Pork Buns were very similar to the ones they serve at Tim Ho Wan in Waikiki. The sugar coating on top is amazing. Our dishes came-out quickly. The staff were efficient, friendly and quick. The only downside was the noise level inside the restaurant. It was quite loud. Between the customers lively discussions, the staff helping the customers and the sheer liveliness inside, made it hard to have a quiet conversation. However, that didn't deter us from enjoying a very good lunch. As a bonus, we actually took several pieces of dim sum home, that I'll enjoy later. read more

The food is AMAZING and delicious, but unfortunately the service is awful. I usually call ahead or order online because I already know the food can take a while, so I don't mind waiting for that. However, every time I come in to pick up my order, I end up standing there for 15+ minutes before anyone helps me, even when there are employees standing right by the register. There's no greeting or even a simple "Are you picking up an order?" I'm always the one who has to speak up and let them know I'm picking up. I can literally see my food sitting there, and sometimes I feel like I could just grab it myself. And unfortunately, this isn't a one-time experience--it happens every single time I come in. The food is good enough that I keep coming back, but the customer service really needs improvement. I hope management takes this feedback seriously because a little acknowledgment and communication would make a HUGE difference. read more

Dim sum done right! This spot is tucked into the plaza on Stevenson Street next to Citizens Business Bank. The dining room is on the smaller side, but it's not cramped--it's clean, comfortable, and well organized. Every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The House Special Pan Fried Chow Mein had perfectly crisp noodles topped with a generous mix of seafood, chicken, and vegetables in a savory sauce. The Beef Brisket with Daikon Clay Pot was incredibly tender, with melt-in-your-mouth brisket and daikon that soaked up the rich, comforting braising sauce. The Seafood & Pork Dumplings with Truffle were plump, juicy, and elevated by just the right amount of truffle without overpowering the filling. The Shrimp & Chive Dumplings had a delicate, chewy wrapper with fresh, juicy shrimp inside. The Bean Curd Steamed Dumplings were another standout--silky bean curd wrapped around a savory filling and served in a rich sauce that made them incredibly comforting. We also loved the Salt & Pepper Fish Fillet--lightly battered, perfectly crispy, and seasoned with garlic, scallions, and just the right amount of pepper. Beyond the food, the service was friendly, efficient, and attentive. Everything arrived hot and quickly, even with a busy dining room. It's always a great sign when every dish at the table is a winner, and that was definitely the case here. We genuinely loved every single dish we ordered and would happily order them all again. Been coming here for years and is one of our favorite spots. The dim sum is so good and offers a great variety of dishes. The baked pork buns are out of this world. If you haven't tried them, you must give it a try - sweet and savory - SO GOOD. The chicken feet is a favorite for the taste and texture as well. The salted egg buns are really delicious. Too many items to note, but everything is good to great. The salt and pepper pork chop, hot & sour soup, tomato beef chow main and black bean sauce chow fun are family favorites. New special menu item is Peking Duck, aka Beijing Duck. They make it in house and comes with 10 buns. The duck meat can be made into a soup or fried salt and pepper. Very tasty and great value at $48.99 for the combo, especially compared to other restaurants that offer it. Call ahead at least 2 hours to make sure they have it though. They get slammed, so give the staff a break. They are working as hard and as quickly as possible. Some of the dishes due take time to prepare and the kitchen can get a little backed up at times, so plan accordingly. Some of the reviews are very unfair in my opinion. People who complain about it being loud, have you not been to a Chinese restaurant before? It's in an interesting location. The business plaza has a dental office, is across from a Sutter Health and across the street from housing. Got there early, I bet they get busy from the surrounding aforementioned places and we're seated immediately. There's also outdoor seating. In any case, see pictures of extensive menu. You're also able to order by scanning a qr code and using a pencil and paper to order the dim sum and other food. It is located inside the same parking lot as Palo Alto Medical group and the line is long if you go in peak hours . We like to go either earlier ( 11 am) or later ( 1:30 pm ) It operates as more gif text now . At the front entrance you can check in and join the wait list with your phone number and the number of guests in your group . They will call your number when it is your turn . You can also order on line and then pick up when your order is ready . Monday to Friday they have lunch specials with a free drink . It is very popular and sometimes one person pick up 6 lunch boxes . We enjoy the dine in dim sum experience so the food is presented one by one and is steaming hot . Our favorites dishes are steamed beef balls , salt & pepper chicken wings , shrimp rice roll ( steamed ) , crispy tofu skin shrimp & chives roll ( deep fried ) , stir fry beef in green onion , minced beef congee , etc . The price are more down to earth compared to Koi Palace . Lots of parking in the front and they have 5 restrooms for the guests . The service is efficient but sometimes a bit rushed. We goes there for their Baked Salted Egg Yolk Buns (when hot it's like a lava bun), however on this visit all 3 orders were cold making it like custard buns. I've been here for dinner but first time for dim sum. The highlight was the steamed seafood roll 鮮竹卷 and egg yolk bun 焗流沙包, they tasted decent. However, the wonton soup noodle had no taste in the soup base, I will not recommend ordering that. Love that this place serves all day dim sum. When we walked in at about 12:20 on a Friday afternoon, there was a long line from the door all the way up to the podium. One woman turned toward me and told me that this was the to-go line. For a table, we should walk up the left side to the podium. The dining room was about 50% occupied, some tables with food, others waiting. We noticed four employees working the front of the house. Two Asian women, one Asian man and a Caucasian man. There wasn't anyone working the podium or both women were passing by it and barking directions to the two men or the customers themselves. The Asian man did answer questions at some tables and collect their lunch order sheets. The Caucasian man helped where he could by clearing and setting tables, bringing extra napkins and filling tea pots with hot water when requested. He also collected our order sheet when our host thrust it out at him. Food came out from the kitchen relatively quickly. It seemed like the bottleneck was mostly due to not having a stationary Host managing the dining room. Table assignments appeared to be helter-skelter rather than in an organized fashion. I would have tried to seat incoming tables together in one area so servers wouldn't have to pinball throughout the entire restaurant. A minute of walking saved becomes a minute to offer service. The Caucasian man was friendly and working but I think that he lacked proper training. If he were constantly picking up empty plates from tables, it would create a reason for him to interact with the guests. Familiarity should lead to better service. At least that's my opinion. How was the food? Unfortunately, not as good as I remember. The skin on the Har Gow was too thick and felt even more so when it got cold. The balance of Seaweed Salad and Jelly Fish was off (see picture). The XO Sauce on the Rice Rolls was probably house produced. It lacked the depth of flavor that most XO Sauces give. The Chicken Feet were so-so. The skin on the Chiu Chou Dumplings was also too thick. We also have Deep Fried Chicken Wings (I forgot to take a picture). While the flavor was okay, six flats on a long plate just looked pathetic. The Pan-fried Shrimp and Chive Dumplings and the Siu Mai were both very good. I suspect that if management could come up with the salary for one more server, freeing up one of the women to manage the front of house, that the waits would be shorter and business volume would improve. For now, we'll be watching from the sidelines with an occasional visit looking for the restaurant to return to it glory days. read more

This restaurant is tucked in around business buildings. I have not found a good dim sum restaurant here in the east bay until I came across BK bistro on a random sunday. When we entered, we were so confused cause they had a sign saying to check in and take a number which we did. Apparently there's a lady all the way down the walk way on the side and if another guest didn't tell us to walk all the way down she wasn't gonna know there was a guest in the front. Customer service was decent. I think the time we went everyone was on break except one person. So all the servers were sitting in the dining room eating and chatting with each other along with the only server they had. The food was actually amazing. The dim sum was really good. The steamed bbq pork buns is how I remember it to be. The original taste of a bbq pork buns not the ones that people be changing the taste to. The siomai was really really good as well. Everything was cooked to order so everything was hot when it got to our table. The restaurant itself is huge, definitely need some cleaning and organization. I think this is why a lot of people also orders to go maybe but the food is really good, service can be worked on. read more

Five stars for the dim sum, especially the baked bbq pork buns that are even better than Michelin-star Tim Ho Wan. Currently the best value for dim sum in Fremont. I miss their mango shrimp roll, but the shrimp chive tofu skin roll is a good substitute when I feel like a fried shrimp item. If we're being honest, not my taste palette. Past through SJ looking for a good dimsum place, had good reviews and good looked great but taste didn't match trust me, I wanted it to. The shrimp balls that I'm used to usually are wrapped with fried wonton, but it was more like a breading like chicken katsu. I will say it had a good amount of shrimp and flavor was okay! Shu Mai was OK. and the shrimp wonton was not too bad either. Everything came out hot. I asked for hot water and they charge $1 for it. I asked also for a usual chili oil sauce that most dimsum restaurants had and they directed me towards theirs, which was like a blended chili oil and a diff flavor that I'm used to. Also, walking in they tell u to enter your phone number, I was waiting for a bit and saw there were so many empty tables. It was until I said something to the waitress that they then seated me.... I've never seen a restaurant get so busy right at noon on a weekday! A group of us decided to try dim sum for lunch, and I'm glad we arrived around 11:30. It was already starting to fill up, but there was no wait and we were seated right away. Service was quick, our orders were taken promptly, and everything we tried was delicious. We started with steamed Shanghai dumplings, sweet pork buns, and potstickers (the potstickers were my favorite!). Next, we had shrimp and pork dumplings and beef rice noodle rolls (so good) , which were also excellent. By the time we left at 12:30, every table was full and there was a long line of people waiting to be seated. The restaurant is huge, with multiple large tables. It's been awhile since I've been here to sit down and eat. We usually order the dim sum items to go and it has never disappointed us! Food here is very tasty. The dim sum is good and the main dishes as well. I came here as a party of 8 around lunch on a Tuesday and it was a little busy for the linch hour, but we were still able to seated right away. Service was a little hectic. We had to ask for little things (water, napkins, more food) more than once before we got what we needed. At one point we weren't sure if the server was even listening to us. It was also very stuffy inside the restaurant, like there was no air flow! Overall, the food is good for the price. This is one of the last few decent dim sum places in Fremont. If you don't feel like driving to the South Bay for dim sum, this will definitely give you your fix. I may be biased because I used to go here with my grandma in law when she was still around. We've ordered everything here and it's all delicious. If you don't want to have to wait, get here right when they open. Otherwise, you'll be stuck waiting a long time to be seated, especially with a party greater than 4. Once it gets busy, you'll have the expected liveliness and hectic dim sum ambiance. The place is casual and can be crowded so be prepared. I guess the only thing to note is that you can easily run up the bill. But that's the case anywhere that you order a la carte. It's worth it though! So arrive earlier than lunch time, and arrive hungry. read more

What an amazing feast we have! I love coming here for Chinese food. We were here during my dad's birthday and ordered so much. The atmosphere is nice and the food is delicious. I was so hungry and went full afterwards lol You can see how much space is filled up to the point to where we have to set additional plates at the sides of the table. The reviews on here are WACK! My family loved this place :) Came on a random Wednesday lunch and it was sooooo good. We ordered fried taro, steamed bean curd rolls, char siu bao, shrimp and beef rice rolls, salt and pepper tofu, TRUFFLE SIU MAI** (get this), and potstickers (skippable). This place was everything I wanted in a dim sum place. Was bummed they didn't have carts but it was even better bc we just ordered everything off the menu and it came out piping hot. The restaurant gets busy on weekends. Luckily on a Saturday afternoon we got a table for 4 in 5-10mins. They hand you over a sheet to pick your options as soon as you enter. There are multiple dim sum options so I would recommend to do your homework before coming, Food was overall good and decently priced. My fav were the chives and shrimp dumplings, very flavorful. Their chilli sauce made everything taste better. They serve as the dishes get ready, however I wish they had served greens with rest of the food, it came at the very end even after reminding the server several times. Everything here was amazing! We ordered the fried flounder, the baked bbq pork buns, and the peking style pork chops. The pork chops melted in your mouth and the sauce was incredible! It was tangy and sweet and got on your hands haha but was so yummy. The fried flounder was light and refreshing but super filling. The baked pork buns were my favorite as I love the flour texture on top. However, the service wasn't the best as we had to ask multiple times for utensils and napkins and the waiters never brought us water even though we asked 5 times. Before Covid this was the spot. Afterwards, food has kind of been different. They have a pull number system now and service is still top notch. So many varieties of dim sum. Would not recommended spareribs rice noodle, the noodles weren't flavored with the sweet soy so might as well order spareribs separately. I've gone here a few times over the past year and sadly, the quality hasn't been as good as I previously remembered. Even though I've come in a small group right when it opened, the food was a little slow to come out and both the daikon and other dim sum dishes (fried shrimp mango) were a bit too oily for my tastes. The prices are a bit higher for individual dishes (think 3-4 pieces for $8-10) compared to other places I've been. They also charge a small fee for hot tea, which seems new, and you're expected to tip even if there is minimal service (e.g. they just bring out the dishes). Maybe it was a fluke the couple of times I've gone, and I might just have an outlier experience. I have gotten takeout here that made for a better experience. I just wouldn't go out of my way to make a visit when there is higher quality dim sum closer to me! read more

I just learned about this place a couple months ago. I go on some Sundays at opening since then. This is your typical old school dimsum restaurant. Pricing is very good for smaller amounts so you can get a variety items for the table. Everything I had here was delicious. This place is not fancy, no frills, just good food for good prices and good company. Perfect for family or friend lunches. The lines do get long on the busier times of the day but they move people fast so the waits shouldn't be too long. We had dimsum with 4 people and only paid $20 per person. Good chinese food from a very extensive menu: Dim Sum, rice plates, chicken/beef/pork/seafood dishes, noodles, won ton soup, congee. Over the years, we have tried about 70% of the menu, and most dishes are very good -- some favorites are their Har Gow (shrimp dumplings), sticky rice in lotus leaf, won ton noodle soup, fish congee, Kung Pao chicken, and Beef Chow Fun. On our latest visit, we all ordered a lunch rice plate special, which comes with a free can of soda. From the photo you can see how generous the portions are, for a lunch special meant to be one serving. The only critiques are occasionally the beef can be a little chewy, the service can be spotty especially when crowded, and the takeout times can be longer than estimated. I have been here a few times and I've always loved their food. Never salty, never bland... just right. They have 2 menus - the regular, which is regular Chinese dishes and the dimsum menu. Came here with my family. We always get our food from the dimsum menu, except for this time where we also tried the crispy noodles from the regular menu. It was good, with a lot of other proteins and vegetables. I made a mistake of ordering the rice noodle roll with XO sauce, I was actually trying to order the rice noodle roll with shrimp. Nonethelss, the roll with XO sauce was still good, although I would not order it next time time, just because I'd like more protein in my food. Another thing we ordered but I forgot to take a picture of is the baked salty egg custard bun. The bun is so soft and salty egg custard is delicious. It could be messy to eat though as the custard could flow from the bun if you are not careful. Everything else were our regulars and were just perfect. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with 3 adults, 2 kids and luckily grabbed the last round table. Ordered about 10 dishes to share. Everything was tasty with good size dumplings! Not the skimpy ones. The only dish I didn't love was the snow pea leaves. I didn't order the food or see the menu, but it's usually just sautéed with garlic but no garlic on this dish. And it was pretty bland. Everything else was good - shu mai, shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings (so big and lots of soup), pork spare ribs, chicken feet, salt and pepper eggplant and pumpkin (interesting dish not usually found at Chinese places). Only thing I didn't get to try because we were too full was a rice noodle roll dish. Decent size place with 4 single room restrooms. I knew what to expect as far as ambiance and I was okay with that as long as service matched the vibe - like fast causal, you know? Logistically, I like that you order everything all at once instead of waiting for carts to pass by with the chance they may not carry what you desire. But in reality, service was inconsistent. Between our first and last item, there was a difference in 20-25 mins which is not preferable. We ordered beef Chowfun as our entree. The beef was not tender or velvety, nor was it flavorful. However, the noodles were cooked nicely. For dim sum, we had pork/shrimp & seafood black truffle shumai, shrimp hargow, braised chicken feet, deep fried shrimp balls, and salt & pepper fish fillet. There was not one dish that stood out as spectacular. Usually shrimp balls are the crowd fav anywhere but here it tasted fishy and the breading reminded me of Americanized fish fry (same with fish fillet which is usually my fav). In summary, unfortunately - I would not return. Our total was $79 before tip. read more
