I've been to Sala Thai a few times across different locations, and each one has been consistently great. My new favorite dish is the crab fried rice is packed with flavor and cooked perfectly every time. I also highly recommend the fried fish and green beans; it's become my go-to order. I usually get takeout, and the staff is always helpful with friendly, efficient service. Next time, I'll definitely dine in because the atmosphere is warm and inviting.

Small location, fast service. Food server named Thai is the sweetest most attentive server! Sincere and didn't miss a blink! My favorite dishes here are #1 crab fried rice and #2 shrimp pad Thai. OMGEEEEE! So good! We ordered fried green beans & spring roll appetizers. Cooked to order and super fresh. The green beans needed seasoning, every time I order I forget that. They serve them with a side of ketchup (like fries). The spring rolls were veggie but I thought they were going to be shrimp. Very good with a sweet dipping sauce ( I think plum). The crab fried rice is AMAZING perfection EVERY TIME! I can't describe the shrimp pad Thai its so creamy and again perfectly delicious! We also had hibiscus tea & sparkling water. There were annoying gnats at the table which is why I will only order TOGO from this location, going forward. The carafe of water was bitter like bad tap water in need of a filter. The parking lot is busy so order ahead for pick up and grab & go!

Good quality food, they have a lunch special, and the pricing is good. Service is quick. The ambiance is pretty old and beat up. It's a hole in the wall spot. It's not super clean and far from fancy but the food is good.

Okay I see the hype now as to why Sala Thai is loved by many! I typically don't eat out for Thai food since I eat it at home, however my friend insisted we go here after a long day of work. Say less if that means I can drive home without being hangry on the road and unwind by eating delicious food!! Service was better than typical Asian restaurants and it was a packed house around 6pm on Friday! Their coffee tastes pretty authentic to me and I loved it. Their portion for Panang Curry was tiny and I easily could've ate it by myself oopsies. I will say the flavor was spot on and a tad bit sweeter which I didn't mind. You can't go wrong with their Sala Thai chicken which my friend really enjoyed and their Pad Thai was not dry at all!!! Not many shrimps were included, so a little meh but oh well. Would give 5 stars if there was more protein and the portions were better. I still give this place my stamp of approval for coming close to home cooked food and will be back!

Got the beef pad thai and it was fine, it's of the more tomato based variant. They offer Thai tea and green Thai tea too which is nice. Food and service are prompt - nothing special, but good enough. The restaurant is not that big but they do have seating for larger parties. However, not sure if it's because of the spacing/arrangement of the tables or because it's a small restaurant but it was incredibly hard to hear anyone talk even if they were across the table. The restaurant was probably at 80% capacity but I felt like I had to raise my voice just to be heard across the table. I could see this being a good takeout or quick drop in spot to eat, but if you're trying to talk and catch up then the noise level might be an issue.

My review is for a to-go order. I was pretty disappointed by how much the food container sizes have shrunk. When paying $19 for basic Thai fried rice, $18 for Pad Kee Mao, and $16 for red curry, I'd at least expect regular-sized to-go containers not portions that feel closer to lunch special sizes. The food itself was decent, but the value for the price was hard to justify.

OMG!! The food and service was AMAZING! Literally 10/10 for everything. :D My bf and I ordered the pineapple fried rice w/o shrimp and crispy fish w/ sweet garlic sauce. Both the dishes were delicious! The fried rice was perfectly flavored. Each bite was sensational. The fish was so crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. The sweet garlic sauce paired so well with it. The workers were so kind and often checked in with us to see if everything was good. And the food came out pretty quick. I'm going to be thinking about this place and the crispy fish nonstop. Sala Thai deserves all the customers they can get. If you're ever in the area pls pls pls go try this restaurant and these two dishes!!!

First time ordering from here - I ordered the pad thai spicy with beef. It was solid and had good flavor. Portions were fairly smaller than I expected for the price of $18 for a medium container. The beef was a little on the dry side. I would've preferred some more beef to increase the ratio a little bit. I tried some of the crispy fish from a friend and it was so good with the sauce!! The crunchy and crispy outside texture was perfect and the fish was juicy inside. Next time I'd get this one for myself. I also liked the pad see ew that I tried a bite of. I ordered to go so i was able to come in and pick up the food pretty efficiently and quickly. It was a nice dining area inside with a lot of tables and booths. Overall I'd say thai elephant has better value for the price but the flavors are pretty good!

Pad thai 0/10 and why would they give me a spoon...

Bad pad thai. Served with a spoon for some reason. Service was kinda bad too. Don't do it

We've been here a few times to Sala Thai 3. Though, we usually go to the original Sala Thai location. Parking is plentiful in this plaza. The restaurant is smaller and intimate. The decor is simple with a few paintings/pictures. One restroom only. Pad See Ew: Stir fried flat noodle with egg, broccoli, and choice of meat (chicken) with sweet soy sauce (3.5/5). The noodles were soft yet had a nice chew to it. The other ingredients like the broccoli and meat was sparse. Spicy String Bean: Sauteed string bean, carrot, bell pepper, and basil with choice of meat (beef) in chili garlic sauce (3.5/5). The default spiciness is mild, which it was. Though, they did bring out the condiments of Thai chili, etc. The string beans were cooked perfectly. The beef needed more tenderizing. Crispy Fish With Sweet Garlic Sauce: Battered and deep fried filet rex sole topped with sala Thai sweet garlic sauce (5/5). Definitely a Sala Thai favorite! Sauce goes well on Jasmine Rice too! Yellow Curry (chicken): Yellow curry paste in a coconut milk with onion and potato (4/5). Creamy, thick curry waiting to be spooned over the steamed rice on your plate. Jasmine Rice (4/5). Cooked perfectly. Thai Ice Coffee (4/5) - i like it the way they prepare it here. My friend likes it sweeter and asked for more condensed milk.

Good thai food, very crowded on a sun night and a bit loud. Food came out pretty quickly. I tried the drunken noodle, panang curry tofu and the basil fried rice. Panang curry was a generous serving and was quite good - best dish we ordered. Drunken noodle tofu was second best, we ordered it spicy and they delivered. Don't have too much to say about it, was pretty good but didn't blow my mind. Basil fried rice - could've used a bit more flavor imo but still very good , no major issues. Overall solid place for thai food, would go back for a not crowded occasion but wouldn't go out of my way to get it again.

It's a great quick lunch place! No long waiting time for food and service is great. The staff is so attentive! Food is great! The crispy fish is surprisingly good with the sweet soy sauce. The creamy soup we ordered (forgot the name) was a little salty to my taste but I like the flavor. I personally like this one over the other location in Fremont. It's closer to the freeway so it's easier to get to!

My favorite thai place closed after the pandemic, and I've still been searching for a new go-to in the Bay Area. Decided to try Sala Thai as its popped up on my yelp a couple times and I was not disappointed! The pad thai and drunken noodles were both great, and the panang curry was delicious. I just wish the curry had a little bit more meat. The roti (unpictured) was fantastic, but very small for the price. The search for the best thai food continues, but this place definitely satisfies the cravings!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant and will not be returning…read more I called multiple times around 9:03 PM to place a takeout order. My calls rang repeatedly without being answered, and one call was picked up and immediately disconnected. Since I was already driving there, I went in person and saw an employee standing at the register, which made the lack of response even more frustrating. When I placed my order, I requested Tom Kha soup with mushrooms only, but was told that was not possible and that I had to choose either vegetables or shrimp. I explained that mushrooms were the only vegetable I wanted in the soup, but I was still told no. I then ordered spicy eggplant with ground chicken and two jasmine rice. After I paid for my order, I realized I wanted extra eggplant and went back to the counter to add it. I specifically told the employee that I was happy to pay the additional charge. Despite having just placed and paid for my order moments earlier, I was told they could not add extra eggplant because the kitchen was closing. The biggest issue came when I received my food. I specifically ordered spicy eggplant with ground chicken, but the dish was made with sliced chicken instead. When I brought it back, one employee initially insisted that this was how the dish came. Another employee then acknowledged that I had, in fact, ordered ground chicken. After speaking among themselves, they returned and asked if I would simply keep the incorrect order because they could not remake it. When I declined, they agreed to issue a refund. However, during the refund process, I was shocked when an employee named nat, shut her hair in a ponytail, asked for the condiments back because I was no longer taking the food. We are talking about a small container of sauce and a few jalapeño slices. In all my years of dining out, I have never had a restaurant ask for complimentary condiments back after making a mistake on an order. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of customer service. There was no apology for the unanswered phone calls, the incorrect order, or the inconvenience. Instead, I was met with attitude and indifference throughout the interaction. To make matters worse, employees were already mopping the floors while numerous customers were still dining inside. I personally almost slipped on the wet floor. The staff clearly saw customers walking through the area, yet the floors were being mopped before customers had even finished their meals, creating an unnecessary safety hazard. I also witnessed several customers being turned away despite arriving before the posted closing time, while there were still many customers seated and eating inside the restaurant. It appeared that staff were more focused on closing and leaving than serving customers during their posted business hours. Finally, when I asked for a copy of my refund receipt after accidentally handing mine back, I was told they could not print another one. Instead, an employee handed me the restaurant's copy of the refund receipt and instructed me to take a picture of it with my phone. Mistakes happen in every business. What matters is how they are handled. Unfortunately, this experience was marked by poor communication, lack of professionalism, and a complete absence of customer care. I hope the owner sees this review because they deserve to know how customers are being treated. For anyone looking for excellent Thai food and outstanding customer service, I highly recommend New Krungthai Restaurant. They have been consistently wonderful, their food is excellent, and they have always treated me with kindness and respect. They have earned my business for years to come, and I will gladly continue supporting them. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will be taking my business there instead. Good food is important, but customer service and professionalism matter just as much.
