With affordable prices and generous servings, I really appreciate the food and flavors they bring. Inside has good seating, and is very cozy. Service is also attentive and kind. The food came very soon after we ordered and there were no misses! The veggie samosas were delicious! Crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside, and I love the sweet sauce it comes with. The papaya salad was also really good with some tanginess coming from the fish sauce. The pad thai is great, super flavorful, ample amount of protein, very saucey. The pad see ew was also good! I'm normally not a fan of pad see ew, but Sala Thai 3 does it very well bringing out a healthy soy flavor. The pumpkin curry was also creamy and decadent. Came to this mall for another place really but it was closed for lunch break so I end up checking this place out. This mall pretty much just cater to the tech workers lunch crowd. I actually used to come here when this spot was a ramen place. Anyways, I order Penang curry with beef lunch special dine in and padthai Togo. Both were 15.95 lunch special At first I thought the portions on the curry seem kinda small but it is actually sufficient if you are dine in. Just eat rice with the curry sauce mainly. The beef is pretty much flat little pieces. You are better off just getting vegetarian tofu. It's just small bits of beef that's hard and chewy I ate the padthai a few hours later and it was ok. I don't like the container it was packed in. Made the noodles all compressed and sticking to each other. The chicken is pounded flat pieces. Pretty slim pickings as well. I was going to get shrimp but that would be +3 dollars. So I just went with chicken Total was $35. I gave $2 tip. Since the padthai was Togo, $2 on $16 dollar lunch special is sufficient I think for a quick lunch for the tech workers these specials are ok. But they are very frugal on the meat... Perhaps the dinner dishes are better as I saw inside on other tables. But, for today. I thought the items I ordered was just average. I would not do the lunch specials again. I feel the Milpitas silk road area restaurants give you a much better deal on similar food. read more

I love Thai food but was very disappointed in Sala Thai. Very welcoming atmosphere but slightly dirty. Lots of flies inside the restaurant. The service was very fast and the staff is nice. But the food is so bland. The egg rolls are soggy, wouldn't recommend. The crab fried rice is very bland. There is a good amount of rice with eggs and crab meat but it's just plain tasting, very bland. The pad Thai noodles with beef looks flavorful but it's also very bland. Just overall disappointing. Ate 1/3 of it and had a lot of leftovers. As there's lots of restaurants in Fremont that serve Thai food, I wouldn't recommend Sala Thai. Location is close to my office so I tried this past week. Ordered basic Pad Thai and Nam soup to go. And since this was a to-go order my review is on ordering and food only. I ordered via Yelp which was easy but didn't receive a confirmation or status update. So not sure if that was in the Yelp or restaurant end. Nevertheless, my meeting went long and I ended up picking up later than expected. I've had a lot of good Thai food (including in Thailand) and I make my own, so I was managing expectations. Overall food was good but not amazing. Pad Thai sauce was okay but tasted somewhat packaged. We were looking for somewhere open just before 5pm with a group of 12 people, and they were able to accommodate us despite not calling ahead, I think because it was kind of an off time. Food portions were quite large, and the food was pretty good. The roti appetizer was decent but very small, and the Thai samosas had good flavor but a little lacking in crunch. The pumpkin curry tofu was really flavorful, would recommend that. The pad see ew was pretty standard, but a large portion which is appreciated, and the noodles were nice and soft. I've been to Sala Thai a few times across different locations, and each one has been consistently great. My new favorite dish is the crab fried rice is packed with flavor and cooked perfectly every time. I also highly recommend the fried fish and green beans; it's become my go-to order. They serve them with a side of ketchup (like fries). The spring rolls were veggie but I thought they were going to be shrimp. Very good with a sweet dipping sauce ( I think plum). Pad Thai: I've always loved Pad Thai but usually I order Pad See Ew. I don't eat Thai food often enough so every time my Thai craving comes around it has usually been a long time since I've had Pad See Ew. This time we decided to switch it up and get Pad Thai, and it did not dissappoint. Tom Kha: Always a solid soup to warm the soul. Okay I see the hype now as to why Sala Thai is loved by many! I typically don't eat out for Thai food since I eat it at home, however my friend insisted we go here after a long day of work. Say less if that means I can drive home without being hangry on the road and unwind by eating delicious food!! Service was better than typical Asian restaurants and it was a packed house around 6pm on Friday! Their coffee tastes pretty authentic to me and I loved it. Their portion for Panang Curry was tiny and I easily could've ate it by myself oopsies. I will say the flavor was spot on and a tad bit sweeter which I didn't mind. You can't go wrong with their Sala Thai chicken which my friend really enjoyed and their Pad Thai was not dry at all!!! Not many shrimps were included, so a little meh but oh well. Got the beef pad thai and it was fine, it's of the more tomato based variant. They offer Thai tea and green Thai tea too which is nice. Food and service are prompt - nothing special, but good enough. The restaurant is not that big but they do have seating for larger parties. However, not sure if it's because of the spacing/arrangement of the tables or because it's a small restaurant but it was incredibly hard to hear anyone talk even if they were across the table. The restaurant was probably at 80% capacity but I felt like I had to raise my voice just to be heard across the table. I could see this being a good takeout or quick drop in spot to eat, but if you're trying to talk and catch up then the noise level might be an issue. read more

Doing the happy dance. The only reason I come here is for the fried fish! So yum! My friend and I tried their Tom Kha and I like this better than the tom yum. I say this cause I had 3 small cups of soup. Everything we ordered was enough for two hungry people. They asked if we like spicy and we said yes, they left us with some condiments, they have 4 different spices. Sambal, pickled jalapenos, dry pepper and a fish sauce with hot peppers I think. This location isn't as big as the one on Walnut but the service is immaculate. Very nice people working here. They checked on us 3 times. They were attentive to our needs. Without us having to ask. Refilled our water, asked if they could take our plates. No early bills like how most restaurants do. They waited until we looked ready and gave us the bill. I definitely recommend this location. Both the dishes were delicious! The fried rice was perfectly flavored. Each bite was sensational. The fish was so crispy on the outside and so soft on the inside. The sweet garlic sauce paired so well with it. The workers were so kind and often checked in with us to see if everything was good. And the food came out pretty quick. First time ordering from here - I ordered the pad thai spicy with beef. It was solid and had good flavor. Portions were fairly smaller than I expected for the price of $18 for a medium container. The beef was a little on the dry side. I would've preferred some more beef to increase the ratio a little bit. I tried some of the crispy fish from a friend and it was so good with the sauce!! The crunchy and crispy outside texture was perfect and the fish was juicy inside. Next time I'd get this one for myself. I also liked the pad see ew that I tried a bite of. I ordered to go so i was able to come in and pick up the food pretty efficiently and quickly. It was a nice dining area inside with a lot of tables and booths. The decor is simple with a few paintings/pictures. One restroom only. Pad See Ew: Stir fried flat noodle with egg, broccoli, and choice of meat (chicken) with sweet soy sauce (3.5/5). The noodles were soft yet had a nice chew to it. The other ingredients like the broccoli and meat was sparse. Spicy String Bean: Sauteed string bean, carrot, bell pepper, and basil with choice of meat (beef) in chili garlic sauce (3.5/5). The default spiciness is mild, which it was. Though, they did bring out the condiments of Thai chili, etc. The string beans were cooked perfectly. The beef needed more tenderizing. Crispy Fish With Sweet Garlic Sauce: Battered and deep fried filet rex sole topped with sala Thai sweet garlic sauce (5/5). Definitely a Sala Thai favorite! Sauce goes well on Jasmine Rice too! Yellow Curry (chicken): Yellow curry paste in a coconut milk with onion and potato (4/5). Creamy, thick curry waiting to be spooned over the steamed rice on your plate. Jasmine Rice (4/5). Panang curry was a generous serving and was quite good - best dish we ordered. Drunken noodle tofu was second best, we ordered it spicy and they delivered. First time at this location, tonight on a Friday. (I've gone to the Sala Thai 1, sometime last year). This location is smaller than the other (and not small by any means), but roomy, and has a nice vibe, with lots of good lighting. I ordered the Pad Basil with ground chicken (I thought ground chicken would be better compared to regular chicken but did ask for the staff recommendation). When asked on spice level, I asked for the spectrum: they have mild, medium, spicy, thai spicy. I think that was all unless there is a hot before spicy. I asked for medium to be safe as the other location might have been a bit spicer.. I felt like the medium was a mild for this dish when received but their dried chili, fresh chili, chili paste selection of condiments gave my dish the perfect spice boost it needed. I think I could have done spicy or somewhere in between medium and spicy. (My tolerance is high, FYI). The service staff were great - they (not just one server, but two) checked in with me to see if everything was good at different times or if I needed anything like hot sauce, etc. And I got myself a thai tea- delicious, nothing else to be said. I saw this place on TikTok and I'm really glad we stopped by when we were in the area! We got chicken pad Thai (no peanuts) and the crispy fish with sweet garlic sauce. I thought the pad Thai was solid but not amazing. I liked the tofu but unfortunately the chicken was pretty dry. The noodles were good though. The crispy fish however was amazing. This is one of their most popular dishes, and for good reason. The fish is fried perfectly, super crispy and crunchy but still tender and juicy inside. I also loved the sweet garlic sauce. Rich and flavorful but not overpowering. You definitely gotta order this if you come here! Staff was also very kind and friendly throughout the ordering/pickup process. Located in a shopping plaza that didn't seem too busy with plenty of parking. I came in for lunch on a weekday and there was plenty of seating available. Maybe not good for bigger groups, the restaurant is considerably a lot smaller than the first location. I ordered the chicken BBQ and it came out fairly quickly. Had dinner here on a Thursday evening, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, casual setup with about 6-8 tables inside. The staff was friendly and helpful. The wait for our food after ordering was about 15 minutes or so. We got the crab fried rice, spicy string bean with chicken, and beef salad. The spicy string bean dish was tasty, but it wasn't spicy at all, even though we ordered medium heat. In fact, the beef in our salad was spicier, with large pieces of iceberg lettuce that we had to cut into smaller pieces in order to eat. My favorite dish was the crab fried rice, simple ingredients (rice, crabmeat, scrambled eggs, onion), cooked perfectly and satisfying. We had hoped to finish off our meal with some dessert, but they were out of the sweet sticky rice with mango, so we decided to pass. This spot is not nearly as busy as the other location in deep Fremont. On a weekend lunch, we were pretty much the only customer in the restaurant. There were mostly takeout orders lined up. *Crab pad thai is so flavorful despite the very pale appearance of the noodles. The sauce is tangy, sweet and salty all at the same time. The fluffy scrambled eggs and crab pieces are so delicate and sweet complimenting the noodles well. *Chicken satay was one of the better chicken satays I've had in a while. The chicken is juicy and tender and comes with a sweet peanuty sauce. * Duck curry was probably my least favorite of our entire order. The red curry was creamy and sweet while the duck meat was a bit tough and chewy. The bell peppers were crunchy and fresh. Definitely order a side of steamed rice for this. * Crispy garlic fish was so delicious. The fish was fried perfectly with a brown outer shell. The interior is super flakey and soft. The cuts are thick so it stays really moist. That garlic sauce is just everything you look for- sweet, salty, and garlicky. Service is fast and efficient. You really can't ask for more.
