Sala Thai has become somewhat of a lifeline for me. They've become my go to spot for takeout Thai food. Without them I'd be basically left out to dry when it comes to Thai food, but thankfully they make some mad decent eats. They have some of my favorite pad thai here. It's actually thick and super flavorful. They also don't skimp on portion size at all so my broke butt can make one order and have enough food to last 3 meals. I really liked their crispy spring rolls too. And their angel wings are huge!!! So big, they might have took them off an actual life size angel. Or maybe just a fat chicken. But they are super yummy. I've actually never eaten inside this restaurant, but they workers have always been nice to me whenever I pick my food up. Price is pretty good too for what you get! Definitely gonna keep coming back here. read more

Ordered crab fried rice but what I got instead was a container full of onions. They add onions to Literally everything and entirely to much, it's as if they want you to taste the onions more than the dish you ordered. I had probably a small pieces of crab. For the price of nearly $20,..... would not recommend the crab fried rice unless you are literally sitting down inside of the restaurant. read more

June 9, 2020. I ordered a pad Thai for pick up, I was eating at home when I saw a cockroach in my pad Thai! I immediately stopped eating it and felt so disgusted afterwards. Not only did the order take long, they're also using only one pan to do stir fry foods, and that's not to mention there was a cockroach. I highly recommend not coming here if you don't want this to possibly happen to you. I'm extremely disgusted and disappointed because I used to eat at this place. read more

For under $20 I was able to get a drink, meal, and dessert. I ordered the Thai iced tea, side of fried rice, and mango sticky rice. The fried rice was amazing and got so much for only $3.50! The that iced tea was extremely sweet, not my favorite. The mango sticky rice was perfect! Definitely will try again! read more

First time trying this place because I was craving Thai food! I've never had a bad experience with Thai food. The food here isn't the best, in my opinion. But that's because I enjoy Authentic ThaiFood. The pad Thai, was too orange and it was overflowed and topped with garlic, that's all I could smell when I picked up my food. The pad see ew was okay. Wasnt the most flavorful and it's my first time having cabbage in my pad see ew? The mango sticky rice was alright too. The larb was good. Fan-freaking-tastic that food! This place is hidden in a shopping center, squished between a Taqueria and UPS store. The service has always been awesome when I come, the waiters are attentice but not annoyingly over-attentive. The decor is nice and cozy, I am currently staring at a mural of some tiny (what I presume to be) Thai children with a cow. No lie. The colors and lights all create a very inviting and relaxing atmosphere. The food is delicious, I am currently eating Pad See Ew and it is extremely flavorful, with just the right amount of chicken and brocolli. The basil catfish is awesome and the CRAB FRIED RICE!! The restaurant has changed names and management ( ownership? ) a few times - and there have been comings and goings with the quality. OK last night - WE TRIED IT AGAIN - and it was Amazing. And Busy - could be because the quality is back or maybe just the line two doors down at the dispensary . So leave more time for your order. The Tom Ka Soup was simply absolutely marvelous. I bought extra for left overs and both the soup and the curry rewarm well after refrigeration - in fact even taste a little better. We tried some new things for us and some regular - so check the menu for something exciting. Very nice decor and lighting. I did like the restaurant interior. I was expecting a lot better food but kind of disappointed. We tried Roti with curry dip first. It's not an"roti" but a Pakistani Brand "paratha" which you can buy a 25 pack for $7 and always have these in my fridge. Took the first bite and I went "omg really?" Dip is kind of ok but someone was heavy handed with coconut in the dip so a little too sweet. Entree was a spicy basil trout. First of all it's not spicy and there is nothing special about this trout. Whole trout dipped in batter and fried with bell peppers and sautéed onions on a bed of cabbage. When I asked about rice then they gave us rice because they "forgot". This is the place I frequent since it's on my way home from work. The food is great and the staff has always treated me well. I usually order takeout but the few times I've eaten in were a delight. Especially the guy who is always surprised by my high spicy tolerance... He's a cool dude. Anyway, the place is spacious and there's enough room for big parties from what I've seen. Definitely worth checking it out if you haven't already, but parking can be a total drag sometimes. read more

So I decided I wanted some Thai food and tried my original place . I'm not sure what's going on but this would be my last time coming here . As soon as I walked in I wasn't greeted and I had to seat myself . I ordered my usual and waited for about 10 min. the food came quick I was happy about thAt . Halfway through my meal I noticed none of the servers came to see if I was ok or needed any water etc . When I finished my meal I was ready for dessert once Again no one came by my table I literally had to wave , make eye contact , and make gestures for someone to see what I wanted . It was ridiculous! The dessert came out quick too that was probably the only thing I was satisfied about . When i was ready for to pay I had to flag down someone again . I have no idea why this restaurant only has 3.5 stars overall. All I know is, I've never had less than a 5-Star experience anytime I've visited, and I've eaten here consistently for the last 9 years at least. The food is RIDICULOUSLY delicious, the service is wonderful and consistent, the atmosphere & ambiance are smooth and warm, and the owner makes sure his team services their guests with a smile and a bedside manner. I love eating here, and so does my lady, and if it weren't for her need-for-variety, we'd be eating either lunch or dinner here every day. Great customer service and quality food with large portions. I enjoyed the veggie egg rolls and crab fried rice with extra crab ( $6.00 additional for extra crab). The À la cart garlic broccoli and mushroom dish( larger portions/ without rice) was seasoned well. I opted out for the rice because I order the crab fried rice. 10% discount if you pay cash! Went to Sala Thai after finding out they were open for takeout. I've been many times before & have had enjoyable experiences. They were open until 9:30PM & I arrived around 9PM. I ordered the Thai Spicy Salad (lime, chili, onions, served on lettuce) with spicy grilled beef strips ($10.50) & a Thai Iced Tea ($2.50). I overheard the owner, who was manning the cash register speaking to a customer about current operations. Despite expressing sales had been effected he informed the customer he would not be opening for dine-in services because he was concerned with keeping his staff & the public safe.. He was very nice and personable & offered me a complimentary Thai Iced Tea & gave my friend a free drink & $5 off her large order.. He gave a homeless man a container of fried rice & a drink & both he & the young woman working were wearing masks the entire time. Once I got home I noticed the box my food was in had a strong spoiled odor, I opened it & my actual salad smelled fine so I switched it into a bowl of my own. I ate a few bites of my salad but I couldn't get over the odor of the box & unfortunately I did not finish my meal.. I have never had a problem with my food or takeout here before so I'm going to chalk it up to a whim. I will rerun & encourage everyone to support this local business! read more

What a lovely visit! As soon as we came in, the manager greeted us with a smile. I liked that a lot. This restaurant is always clean. The restrooms are clean. I like that too. I ordered the Pad See Ew again. This time with more noodles and less vegetables. It was perfect! I wanted to taste more of the noodles and too many veggies in a dish get in the way of the taste. This dish was very flavorful. I also orderes the Fried Shrimp Rolls. They were decent. They came with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. I went overboard by ordering the Fried Banana and ice cream. Score! Omg! It was delicious! There were four halves of bananas deep fried with a crunchy batter topped with coconut ice cream. I like pineapple was in it. It was just what I needed at the end of a long day. I truly enjoyed this dining experience. The food was great and well presented. I was checked on throughout the meal. I appreciated that. Came here for lunch. Ordered red curry. The curry itself, I would give three stars. It was decent enough, but the vegetables had kind of weird dish water flavor to them. The broth was also too thin for my liking. It had decent flavor, but it was also not the best I have had by a long shot. My main issue was that we were in there for over an hour! Seriously, the place was only half full and it took our server almost 15 minutes to take our order and it took almost an additional 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Naturally, we needed to flag our server down to get our bill as well. Normally, I am not a stickler for service like this, but I just feel that over an hour for three orders of curry is a bit unacceptable for lunch service. read more

I love this place, it has the best thai food in the world. The curry is to die for! The appetizers and entrees are the best . The staff is great the waiters heidy and john jessica all great people . The owner and wife and the whole staff are really great people that take care of their guests. Great food portions and alot of different choices on the menu . If i could eat here everyday i would! Pleasant staff teamed with a capable kitchen that has quick turnaround on authentic food at a great price point makes this worth your visit. Their soups are hearty, full of flavorful stocks. You've got to also try the curries. They are uniformly chock full of heaping proteins, whether tofu, chicken, meat or shrimp. I always walk away full and not empty pocketed. Still the best Thai food in the area, but I'll have to get my Thai iced tea elsewhere from now on. It just gets sweeter and sweeter with every visit. It used to be my favorite here and made the perfect pair with a spicy curry.. so sad I can't have the two together here anymore :( On a more positive note, just tried the fried calamari appetizer. I had wanted to try it since my last visit here when the table next to me ordered it, and omg, did it smell good! It was even better in taste (see photo for description). Service has also always been very good. My only gripe in addition to the thai tea would be the steamed rice that came out with my curry. It was definitely left out for a bit because half of the outer layer had dried out and the rice inside wasn't very warm. That's what I get for deciding to skip the healthy brown rice =/ read more

Love this place! Me and my boyfriend were looking for a new Thai place that served fried chicken over fried rice and we weren't disappointed. Just make sure you let it be known that you want it spicy. They get really busy in the evening but they are so nice and give you updated about your order. I also had the red curry catfish which was delicious! I can't ever leave without a mango and sticky rice fix though. I'm happy we've found out new spot. read more

Worst Thia food I've ever had. The Tom Ka was luke warm made with tones of white onions and hardly any mushrooms or Chicken. The chicken spicy wings were disgusting with no spice or flavor added, to any of the dishes we ordered. I had to ask for some Chilli Sauce just to add to all the dishes to give it some type of flavor. This place was a major disappointment. This is literally my go to and most favorite Thai restaurant in the Bay Area. It's fairly priced and just over all soooo delicious. This was recommended to us by the local that we sporadically asked. I was with my co-workers and we were in the area so we tried it. I'm not sure if this place is affiliated to the one in Fremont. But it was surprisingly really good. I ordered the pad Thai and it was really good the servings were huge, that I had to take home the rest of it. All my co-workers were raving about their meals as well. The service was fast as well and if I were to be in the area again I would definitely recommend this place. The restaurant is a bit on the small side but it's he food that matters. It seemed to get a lot of customers so I would think the word is already out for this place. Must try. read more

The interior is better than most local restaurants. They have a full menu and great service. We both ordered curry which tasted ok but had the appearance and consistency of cream gravy. The salmon is farm raised and so toxic I could smell it across the table in the avocado salmon curry, which is ironically their most expensive curry. They have several beer selections, and wine however nothing in our experience warranted a return visit. It's on par food-quality wise with the other restaurants within a 5 mile radius. read more

Sala Thai - Pleasant and relaxing decour - Thai Near Me - Richmond, California

I work in the area and I've found that north Richmond has very few places that can cater to vegans. I'm pleased to say that this is one of those few places! Conveniently located in a rather busy parking lot, Sala Thai offers a comfortable dining area with very nice decor. The dine in service has always been very good to me, so I enjoy eating here when I can take a long lunch. Onto the food! They have a really great selection of vegan options ranging from appetizers, curry, classic Thai entrees, and soup. I do wish they had a vegan noodle soup option but that's not enough for me to knock down a star. The dishes are always served piping hot with fresh ingredients and booming with flavor. Takeout dishes are no exception, I've taken soup home to Lafayette and it's still nice and hot. It seems there are a lot of negative reviews for this place. Maybe the meat/seafood dishes leave something to be desired? I eat here literally at least 2-3 times a week and haven't been disappointed yet.
