    Ginger Duck
    Peyton C.

A small little Thai place in West Hartford. It's a cool vibe and pretty affordable all things considered. The staff were nice. I got the Ginger Duck. Flavor wise it was good but a little dry for my liking. It was accompanied by rice and vegetables that were honestly fairly bland. The rice added nothing to the dish. The appetizers were much better than the entree. I got the Thai Tea cocktail, it was good.

Went for weekday lunch. The iced coffee was sweet and smooth, and everything came out in a reasonable time. The calamari was crunchy and hot, and the stir fry vegetables were crisp. Our server was very friendly and gave ample space for us to enjoy our meal.

We tried The Blue Elephant Trail over the weekend. It's a cute little restaurant on Main Street in West Hartford. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. Gluten free items are clearly marked on the menu. We tried the chicken satay (gf), the pad Thai (gf) and the green curry (gf). Our friend also got the drunken noodles. Everything was delicious, and huge portions. I took half my pad Thai home. Definitely a great place to stop in if you're in the area!

The Blue Elephant Trail restaurant is located in West Hartford. The other location, The Elephant Trail is located in Avon. There is on street metered parking at the WeHa location. We stopped in for a late lunch on Saturday. We opted to sit outside on their patio since it was gorgeous out. We started off with the curry puffs; the pastries were flaky with delicious curried veggie filling. I had the penang curry chicken with white rice. The dish was beautifully plated with a flower on it and the curry had the perfect balance of spiciness and sweetness. My son had the plain pad Thai bento from the kid's menu; this was huge! It also came with steamed mixed veggies, chopped pineapples, and two fried spring rolls. I had a taste of his meal and it was very good, we had enough for leftovers. Everyone in my party thoroughly enjoy their meals and drinks. Service was friendly but I did notice the food came out a little bit slow. In the end, we enjoyed the food and drinks and will definitely be back!

Delicious Thai food with amazing flavors every time! Love that they always have great vegetarian options -- perfect spot for authentic Thai cravings......

    Massive sheet of rice noodle.

I will say the food was very tasty. Well seasoned, good proportions, everyone liked their dishes. But their attention to detail is definitely not there. A giant wedge of iceberg as a lettuce wrap? That's just bizarre. And my pad se ew had massive sheets of rice noodles that you had to cut (no knives in sight) to eat. But it was a lovely place. And I do appreciate the amount of options. But it would be great to have allergens marked on the menu.

Ordered this on DoorDash so don't actually have any feedback on the service there or location just strictly the food. I got the Chicken Satay, Massamun Curry with beef and Mango sticky rice. The chicken satay was seasoned nicely and the peanut sauce was good. I wish the beef in the curry was more tender I found it kind of tough and not enough beef/veggies to curry ratio. The mango sticky rice was ok but unfortunately the mango was not as ripe as I would've liked so it was kind of tough and bland. Probably what irked me the most was that they did not include any utensils in my order. I was in a hotel room for work and specifically ordered DoorDash cuz I didn't feel like going out and wanted to be a bum. And how do you expect me to eat curry with no utensils?!? I had some leftover chopsticks from ordering sushi the night before but it was a poor substitute for a spoon. Would not order here again sadly and prob not interested in dining there either.

Really delicious Thai food. I can't believe I haven't tried them sooner. My daughter and I ordered in tonight. We had the Tom yum soup, Thai basil beef and larb with sticky rice. All the flavors were on point! We'll be back for sure to try more dishes. Thanks Blue Elephant!

Restaurant is located in the heart of West Hartford. There are some outside sitting. I sat outside. Went there on a Thursday night, there was no wait time, I immediately sat. I ordered Pad Thai with Shrimp, jasmine team, and iced Thai tea. The quality of the food was great. Service was not the best. I had to ask them to bring hot sauce, again ask them to bring chopsticks, they did not come to fill my water. Overall not happy with the service, but food quality and ambiance were great.

    Thai Calamari (Tod Pla Muek)
    Neeka P.

This place was super cute and yummy!! The calamari was a bit weird, it was very thick but still good if you like big chunks of calamari. The chicken lettuce wraps were delicious and so were the drunken noodles, I wish they were a bit spicier though! Overall I'd return, the service was ok.

That said, the hummus was sensational. I absolutely need it again right now. The beet dip was also good, which says a lot coming from someone who does not usually like beets. They had many gluten-free options, and our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. Food: 3.8/5 Service: 3.4/5…read moreAmbiance: 3.7/5 Value: 3.6/5 The Charles is a nice upscale restaurant on Main Street in Wethersfield which opened in 2020 and quickly made Connecticut magazine's list of best restaurants. It is inside an old house of some sort, so it has a charming ambiance. They have a small parking lot so the spaces are a bit tight. Then, although we were on time for our 8:15pm reservation, we found out that they didn't have a table for us on the main floor, which is bad because my parents have mobility issues and cannot climb stairs. They asked us if we would be ok waiting five or ten minutes. Sure, that was fine we said. The host was very reassuring and he let us know that the corner table near the fireplace was finishing up and he'd get it bussed promptly. So that was good. But after we sat down we experienced service issues. Many items were unavailable. No orrechiete. No crab cakes. No sirloin special. It was weird. We hadn't arrived that late, on a Saturday night, how could so many dishes be sold out/unavailable? We ended up going with the scotch egg $11 and butternut squash arancini balls $12 for appetizers, which were both great. The scotch egg was a decent size and came with a mini salad. The arancini balls were small, but the truffle gorgonzola fontina cheese filling was really nice. Entrees were not bad. My Berkshire pork chop cooked medium was tender enough and had decent flavor. My Dad's veal ribs over mac and cheese were really good. My Mom's wagyu burger was tasty and my sister's salad was satisfactory. However the cost of the additional protein to the salad seems high (Grilled Chicken +14 / Seared Salmon +16/ Grilled Shrimp +21 / Churrasco Steak +24). The drinks were well made, but took a while to get to us. The "Charles... In Charge!" with old forester bourbon, montenegro, spiced cherry bitters, luxardo $15 was a hit. My Dad enjoyed his $17 Manhattan made with Angel's Envy bourbon. My $11 FreeBird mocktail was refreshing. Yet, throughout the night we found it difficult to get our server's attention. All four dishes did not arrive simultaneously. We had to flag someone down for more silverware after the appetizers were cleared. Right at the end when we were ready to pay, she got tied up listening to a couple at a neighboring table tell her a story or something. This must have been quite a yarn because she was totally enrapt and oblivious to our needs. We started wondering whether our table was actually her responsibility or not. Finally she came by and we let her know we were done, no dessert or after dinner drinks, just the check and a few boxes for takeout please. This was a new restaurant that we hadn't tried before, and maybe I took a risk by booking it for my Dad's 89th birthday, which was supposed to be special. Our experience was okay, and maybe we'd go again in the future, but there were too many more ups and downs this evening than I would have liked for a special occasion. I am rounding up to four stars overall, even though on this particular evening I didn't think each individual component met that mark exactly.

This may be, perhaps, the best Happy Hour I have ever seen anywhere. It's EVERY DAY from 3:30-6. The food item options are huge (20-25) plus three dessert choices. There's are also seven quality mixed drinks, three beers and seven wines! OMG! The bartender recognized me! I haven't been here since January 2025 (1 1/3 years ago). She is even knew where I sat! The menu is unchanged except for a few minor things. For my first drink, I'm having the Max Manhattan made with Old Overholt Rye, Cinzano Sweet Vermouth, orange bitters and orange twist. This has a nice garnish and tastes great! For my first food item, I'm getting a Caesar Salad made with romaine lettuce, garlic croutons and Parmesan cheese. The smell of cheese is quite strong! It's a good portion. This tastes good! Crunchy croutons and tasty lettuce. For my next food item, I'm having a Salmon lettuce cup. Nice presentation! It's on a bed of ice and a lemon to sprinkle. This is quite good! Next up, I'm having a Cup of Clam Chowder. I believe these are house-made croutons. This came out quick! It's nice and hot! Tastes great! Well, with a little hot sauce that is...I like the classic music here. For my next drink, I'm having an Old Fashioned made with Old Forester Bourbon, simple syrup and Angostura bitters. Damn! Nice presentation (the Amarena cherry on the wooden stick) and a great tasting drink! The bartenders are good here! Very attentive! For my next food item, I'm having the Steamed Mussels made with soppressata, capers, shellfish stock, spring herb butter and Pernod butter. I love the focaccia! It is heavily buttered. The mussels are real good! For my next food item, I'm having the Scallops A La Plancha made with mustard spatzle, pea puree, asparagus and mushroom cream. This is good. It's heavy due to the pasta. It's like an entree. To wash this all down, I'm getting a bottle of Pellegrino sparking water. I like this stuff! For my next food item, I'm having four (Buck a Shuck) Cherrystone clams and four Oysters of the Day (only $1.95 each). These are good! I love the cocktail and vinaigrette sauces (with the crushed pink peppercorns). Sprinkle that lemon! For my next drink, I'm having a Happy Hemmy made with rum, grapefruit juice, lime and vanilla extract. What a great drink! Very unique taste! This has kick! For my food item, I'm having the "Baltimore Style" Shrimp Cocktail made with Old Bay Seasoning and stone ground mustard. OMG! The shrimp are big These are great! I love that mustard! For my next good item, I'm having the Blackened Fish Taco made with pineapple salsa and aji verde. I love it! This is easy to eat. For my last appetizer, I'm having the Happy Burger made with lettuce, tomato and cheddar cheese. I miss this badly! This is delicious! It's a well-seasoned burger let me tell you! For dessert, I'm having the Creme Brulee. This is the cutest Creme brulee ever! On a Happy Hour menu?! This is a first anywhere! My favorite dessert! This is great! For my final drink, I'm having the Gin Gimlet made with Greylock Gin, simple syrup and lime juice. This is good! It's light so it's easy to drink at the end of my meal. That's 11 food items I ate and 4 mixed drinks. What a fantastic meal here!
