Every time I dine here I imagine I could live here. The architectural design really resonates with me. I imagine the perfect rainforest retreat in Hawaii, with the large concrete and metal structures surrounding the building creates a secure and private courtyard. The seating outside is spacious so you don't feel like you are sharing your conversation with a neighboring table. The food is amazing, every time! Last visit I had the breakfast porridge. I will come back for it again. On a previous visit, the pumpkin curry was enough to make your toes curl with pleasure! The wait staff is pleasant and attentive. I think the ownership has been Changed! Totally disappointed by the dishes that we've been enjoying so many years. I tried their new menu, Crab dish but tasted really bad with some strange smell. I honestly don't know what happened to this place. I used to come here regularly, and both the food and service were always great. It had probably been 1-2 years since my last visit, so I was actually really excited to come back. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment. Let's start with the food: Crispy Pork Belly with Chinese Broccoli - Where do I even start? The pork belly was extremely dry, over-fried, tough to chew, and somehow still flavorless. It felt like the meat was an afterthought, just tossed on top of a pile of Chinese broccoli drowning in sauce. The Chinese broccoli itself was cut into huge chunks and was incredibly tough. To make it worse, I was charged an extra $3 for a bowl of rice because apparently none of the entrees come with rice--which feels ridiculous. Rad Na with Chicken - At first, I genuinely couldn't find the noodles because they were buried under a mountain of Chinese broccoli, sauce, and chicken. When I finally did, the rice noodles were mostly broken into tiny pieces instead of full noodles, making it seem either overcooked or already broken before cooking (I'm leaning toward overcooked). The chicken was rough, dry, and chewy, and once again, the Chinese broccoli was way too tough. Saladang Pad Thai - Probably the best dish out of the three, but that's not saying much. It was incredibly sour--almost overwhelmingly so. The noodles were again broken into short pieces instead of the usual long strands, and they also seemed overcooked. The pork was dry and tough. So the overall theme here: everything was overcooked, the meat was dry, the vegetables were tough, and nothing tasted particularly good. As for the service: There was one woman who was very nice--she took our order and handled the bill at the end, and she was pleasant throughout the meal. However, there was another older woman (probably mid-40s to early 50s) who greeted us with what can only be described as major RBF the second we walked in. She didn't say a word until I told her we needed a table for three, and she simply pointed to a table in the back. No greeting, no smile, nothing. She also dropped off our food without saying anything, and even after we thanked her, there was zero acknowledgment. What really stood out was after we paid and were leaving, I noticed an older white couple walk in and get seated at the same table we had just left. Suddenly, the same woman was smiling, waving, and chatting with them like they were old friends. We're Asian, by the way, so I'll just leave that there for your own judgment. Thankfully, the other server was kind and professional, which helped a little. Sadly, I won't be returning after this visit. An $80 bill for three overcooked dishes and a side of attitude just isn't worth it. There are plenty of better Thai restaurants nearby that would be much happier to have my business. read more

I've been coming here for years and guess I haven't gotten around to reviewing them. I used to go to the one that is directly right across, but I stopped going after they changed ownership. I do enjoy sitting outside a Saladang Garden. You see alot of business groups come here for lunch. It's one of those easy convenient places. I'll be honest.It does seem like the food has declined over the years, it's just not as good as it used to be. Probably my most favorite dish from here is the appetizer the coconut shrimp, after that, everything else seems pretty mediocre and the service is okay here, they're never really friendly, kind of just like even kill, very stoic personas. I don't mind coming here if i'm in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way anymore to go there. read more

Warm and friendly service. Excellent Thai cuisine. There is a sister restaurant next door with similar name and menu but i always like the Garden more. Same open floor plan but you can see more greens and flowers at the garden. Saladang Garden's menu also has more varieties. Patio sitting also available during the day. It has the traditional Thai staples like tom yum, papaya salad and curry etc. you will find exotic dishes here too. Like whole catfish and lamb shank. Corn fritters from the appetizer section was also a big hit. Of course we have to end with mango sticky rice. Convenient parking in the parking lot. Some street parking too. read more

Mixed reviews on this one. The soft spring rolls were delicious, and were prepared with generous fillings. But the pad thai was .... atrocious? Gloppy? Tasteless? It was a bunch of noodles with an omelette on top. I only managed to barely salvage the dish by dumping my cucumber salad (tasty) INTO the pad thai, so that it would taste like something. I was shocked by how poorly this place is managed now. It is unrecognizable, under the new ownership. It felt like we were sitting in the breakroom of an old furniture warehouse. Dingy, dated, and the staff is very cold and distant. The food was horrendous. Like cafeteria food and way, way overpriced. The Pad Thai was so bad! Congealed noodles drowning in some kind of red/brown sauce - this isnt Pad Thai. Served with a very sad looking salad (not fresh) and some kind of awful wonton thing. The corn fritter used to be served with a fresh cucumber salad/dressing. Instead, they gave us what looked like day-old thick slices of dried out cucumber. The seats were dirty (had to brush crumbs off of mine). We had to seat ourselves. When we paid the check one of the wait staff came over and looked at the signed receipt and then walked off. The whole experience was awkward, and it felt as though the staff knows they aren't providing service or food that warrants the price. There is a bad feeling in this place. I love me Thai food, always. Such a beautiful restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant always feels so inviting with their floor to ceiling windows and high ceilings! The space is very bright and airy, but also can be very moody for dinner. I read on their website that the space (indoor or outdoor) can be reserved for events as well. Parking never seems to be an issue here, there are plenty of parking in their lot and street parking as well. What I ordered: Crispy Pork Salad 10/5 - There's something about the sauce that pairs so well with this salad. It's like a fish sauce but more on the sour/vinegar-y side. Such a refreshing dish and I swear I can just eat this all to myself. Haha the portion size is shareable among a few people. Yellow Curry Chicken 5/5 - Super fragrant and not spicy, although I believe you can change your spice levels. BBQ Pork Rice Bowl 2/5 - The picture on the menu looked so promising and honestly this one disappointed me. The BBQ Pork was very dry and lacked so much flavor. I wouldn't order this again Garlic Pepper Pork Bowl 3.5/5 - This tasted much better than the BBQ Pork Rice bowl. It was lot more flavorful and the meat wasn't dry. It has been so long since my last time here. It was so nice to come here again! Came here for lunch with my colleagues, and we shared the dishes. We ordered the Fish cake, Crispy trout, Hainan chicken, tofu Pad Thai, yummy eggplant Salad, Chicken yellow curry, and Pineapple fried rice. The food was so good! We celebrated one of my nephew's college graduation with 40+ invitees. The place is clean and very spacious, not crammed. The staff were not overly friendly (smile) but they were polite and attentive. I only had to proactively ask for water once, but after that they came by several times for the party guests. For someone who has been to different parts of Thailand numerous times, their food was good and authentic. The chicken satay was tender and delicious. The pad thai was well balanced, most restaurants in Los Angeles make it too tangy. The crab fried rice was a crowd favorite. The chilli eggplant with tofu was my favorite. Their curries were tasty as well. The whole fried fish is also recommended. For dessert, mango is in season and their sticky mango rice is decent tasting. I've been to this place in person and ordered through Postmates. The food overall is 4.5 stars, full of flavor (5 stars), but the meat in the curry (both chicken and duck) was very dry (1 star). Service is mixed: one waitress deserves 2 stars (smiled once and seemed like she hated her job), while the busboy earns 5 stars for smiling and being friendly. Now, the reason for my 1-star rating: When I ordered via Postmates, the restaurant added an extra $5 to my order without explanation. I didn't leave any special instructions or modifications that would justify an upcharge. I contacted Postmates support, the first rep said the charge was correct without even contacting the restaurant and refused to refund me. When I called back, another rep tried calling the restaurant (they didn't answer) but thankfully issued the refund. After looking into it, I realized the restaurant had listed a breakfast item at $10, but after my order, it was removed from their breakfast menu and only appeared under the lunch menu for $18. That means they changed the price and charged me extra after I'd already paid, which is illegal and dishonest. Companies are required to honor a posted price and definitely cannot change the price once you've paid. This kind of sneaky pricing practice is unacceptable. I will not be returning, and I'd recommend being cautious if you're ordering delivery from here. read more

Be sure to order the Khao Soi, northern curry soup. We dined family style and it was everyone's favorite dish by far. Next time I'll get a small side order of rice to soak up every bit of that yummy curry broth. The crispy trout is great in house, but I would not order it for takeout. The Thai style fries are really spicy, crispy and good. I would order them mild spice next time, and, again would not get then for takeout because I want them to be crisp. The other food items we have tried are also very good. I do not like Asian style desserts, so I won't comment on them. They have a selection of chairs, so look around. the ones without cushions can have a bar that digs into the thighs of shorter guests. The one with arms can dig into the thighs of taller and heavier guests. We eat here every month and like the open atmosphere inside and out. Service can be an issue for larger groups, so be clear with your server about what you want and who's paying for what parts of the order in advance. Parking is convenient and free. It is possible to enter and exit from the alley, but that area is a maze, so stick to the Fair Oaks driveway. read more

The waitress hostile .. our friends took us out for valentines .. the waitresses rushed us once we were ready to order .. no one could eat that fast unless they were in a food eating contest. The restaurant closed at 8pm without ever warning you when you call to book a table. No ordering food after 7:30 pm. This was a gross disturbing waste of money. No one should eat this food! Save your time and money. A super disappointing embarrassing experience. We were the last ones there .. they brought the cart with the dirty dishes right next to our table and started piling noisy dishes on top encouraging us to "get out"Never again !! This place is a "garden" so it offers lots of outdoor seating. There's plenty of indoor seating too. It's pretty much all windows for walls which means lots of natural lighting. Really nice. The food was great. I had the catfish fillet. $16.00. It came with rice and salad. The fish was deep fried...kind of like fish 'n chips, but rice instead of chips. It was super light and tasty. Too bad they didn't have french fries to go with it. I'd be all in! OK, sorry, I regress, I know it's a Tai restaurant. haha. My friend had the Papaya Salad. $14. She loved it. I had a taste. I loved it, too. Nice and fresh. The service was great, and the atmosphere was too. Perfect to have a nice meal and a nice chat. I saw a small group of people celebrating a birthday there. First of all I want to say that the staff probably works hard but every time I go in I feel rushed and they never want to seem to want to refill my iced tea. I paid over $5 for an iced tea and would like refills when needed. I feel like they are upset when doing that. Last time a staff said "again?' while refilling my drink. Need I explain to you that you probably pay bulk items for an iced tea pouch and I am almost sure I pay for a whole box with that $5.50 I spend. For us, the serving was big. * Kai Kata - This is one of their breakfast dishes. It had two over-easy eggs, ground chicken sprinkled with green onions, slices of Chinese sausage. I also picked brown rice for my order. Yummy and filling dish. * Basil & Chili Lunch Combo - This was served with chicken, two veggie wontons and mixed salad. My friend picked brown rice also. Delicious and savory. * Thai Iced Coffee - Sweet and refreshing! This is the first time I had this drink. It kind of reminds of Vietnamese coffee, but not as intense. Private parking available. Saladang Garden is a beautiful dining experience! The building is tall with large windows and a lavish interior and beautiful orchids on each table. We came on a Tuesday night and ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp, basil and chili eggplant with shrimp, and soy ginger sea bass. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, soft and tender on the inside with a delicious soy sauce glaze and shredded ginger on top over a bed of bok choy. It was on the pricy side at $35 for the dish, and the fish was smaller than we expected. The basil and chili eggplant was delicious where the eggplant was slightly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was a flavor bomb that absorbed all of the sauce and paired great with rice. It was not as spicy as we expected. The shrimp in our drunken noodles was delicious and the drunken noodles had a great texture and bounce to the noodles. It reminded me more of chow fun noodles and the sauce was slightly sweet. For the three dishes, it did come out to ~$80 before tip. Overall, Saladang Garden was a great dining experience and excellent food. The only thing we were confused by is that there is a Saladang restaurant right next door and a Saladang Garden and we're not sure what the difference is. read more

We weren't properly greeted or told where to sit, so we asked if we could sit at one of the round tables. We had to ask for waters, straws, and lemon. The lemon wasn't brought out when we asked, and we felt as if we were ignored. The only time we were greeted was when we were ready to place an order... No one else passed by to ask if we needed to have our waters refilled or if we needed extra plates or anything else in regards to service. I probably wouldn't come back due to the lack of service even though the food itself was decent. Actually, the food was better than other places I've gone to. There is plenty of parking both in the lot and on the street which is good for customers. People giving this place anything under 4 stars is tripping. The portions here are huge and the flavors are on point. The service is lacking because there's only 3 staff most of the time. But we came here with a family of 9 and had the biggest best tasting spread in a while. This is 2025 people. The fried catfish is as good if not better than lotus of Siam in Vegas. The crab fried rice is awesome and can feed a family of 4 easily. This is not super refined Thai food like the Saladang next store. This is awesome bang for your buck, flavorful family food. read more
