Salata is heavenly bliss for vegetarians, vegans, and even carnivores. You start off by selecting a small or large salad. The small salad with a protein added is about $10 and is quite a decent size. Then you move through a line similar to those Subway sandwich shops we all know so well, but instead of selecting the type of bread you want first, you select the type of greens you want. Romain, spinach, spring mix, and finally a Salata Mix. Then you move on and choose any toppings you want - you can choose as many as you want until you get to the avocado and the proteins, and those are extra. Protein choices include chicken, turkey, quinoa, baked tofu, and falafel. Then you finally choose from one of the 10 exquisite dressings they have to offer. When you get to the end of the line, you choose whether you want your salad to go or to eat there. Great customer service and friendly staff, but it is kind of hard to hear what the staff is asking you as you move along each station. I won't remove any stars for that, but they really do need to speak up since it can be a bit loud in here sometimes. We have always enjoyed the salads at Salata. Was really looking forward to having one tonight...no such luck. We walked in and were treated like we were an imposition to the man who was at the end where you start your order. He was making several to go orders. He told us multiple times that he was short handed and was multitasking. He never looked up at us so that we knew he was taking our order. He continued to make the to go orders. He then asked what our first person wanted next. He never moved down to the next section of food like they normally do...he said he had two feet and could go between...his attitude is hard to convey. He was extremely rude and did NOT care if we stayed or not. My husband said let's just leave and the man said "ok bye" and waved to us. A customer should never be made to feel uncomfortable just trying to order their food. We eat out a lot and TOTALLY get that restaurants are short handed. So many different types of ingredients to choose from for your wrap or salad and all those amazing dressings they offer. I love the Chipotle Ranch one, which is my favorite. Don't door dash this restaurant. Every time I go in person, they get everything right and give me decent quantities. However, every single time I use door dash at this restaurant, it is missing items, and filled half way. One time, it was missing 3 items I asked for. Another time, it was missing chicken (chicken that I paid for), and this most recent time, it was missing bread. The one constant in all three cases was that the container was barely half way full. They obviously don't care to give you good service or even care to make sure the order is correct unless you are right in front of them staring at them. Very disappointed after three tries. They also make wraps in a similar fashion. The interior is somewhat neglected. The employees are somewhat slow. I told them that I would be eating here in the restaurant and they put my food into a plastic to go container. I didn't realize there was such a margin for improvement on the standard salad in general until I tried Salata. Salata was recommended to me for quite some time but I didn't take it seriously since spectrum of casual salad places goes from Subway (Mashed Vegetables and Lettuce), Souper Salad (Acceptable), to Wholefoods (Guaranteed Acceptable). Having tried Salata, there's a now a cap to the high-end I shall call Salata (Premium) and excitedly, here's why: Every single ingredient is given fresh and/or house-made. I have to praise the protein options, the meats and seafood are marinated and there's a fresh falafel option for vegetarians. The protein are large, chunky and truly gourmet in make and seasoning. (Whole Foods protein is still rather bland despite its presentation). There's over 50 options of ingredients, fruits, nuts, fungi, olives, house-made croutons, or some other crispy options. Soups are freshly made and very much differentiated the industry standard, out of a Campbell's can soups. The only downside is the pricing. There are three "tiers" to add onto your salad. A base salad is $7,8 (small, large) but, of course, going down the line you would add your protein (+$2/3) and the smell of soups haunts you to give in as well (+3/4). By the end, my bill was $14. If only protein was given in the salad base then I would come all the time. read more

I found Salata and read through the reviews. It was 50/50 but we decided to give it a try. We got there and it reminded me of a Chipotle but with alooooot more options. I was totally overwhelmed but I was starving. They asked if I wanted a regular or large salad and I was starving so I said Large. Now I'm a small eater so I go back and my meals usually last me 1 or 2 more meals. But this Salad was huuuge. I ate only a quarter. Snacked on a few more bites a few hours later. Then munch on more when I got home from work the next day and one more little munching session. Now I added Pesto Chicken and Avocado. I think my total was around $11. Now, think about it. If you go to any sort of good restaurant a gourmet salad would be $10-$16 range so I felt the price was waaaay justified. Especially because the salad is customizable. Oh, be still my heart. A place where you can put unlimited toppings on your salad and NOT be charged by the weight? Sold. Anyone who knows me, also knows that salad is my go-to meal (unless bubble tea is nearby). Back in Boston (where I previously lived), most salad bars were by weight. So if you wanted to layer on cheap-but-heavy toppings (like tomatoes or eggs), you were SOL in the money department. It wasn't uncommon to have a mediocre-sized salad end up being nearly $10 because of the toppings. Not so for Salata. They give you a HUGE bowl (you can choose the large or the small bowl, for $1 difference) which you can fill with whatever your heart desires. They have a good variety of greens (romaine lettuce, spring mix, kale, spinach) and damn, is their topping selection awesome. Literally every vegetable topping you can imagine, lots of fruits, good cheese and nuts variety, tons of dressings. Meat is unfortunately an additional cost of $2-3, but as I don't like meat on my salad, I'm okay. I usually order online for pickup. Every time, my salad has been ready before the time I specified in my order. Great service! The only minor complaint I have is that if you want to eat inside the restaurant at lunchtime..... good luck. This is popular spot for lunch during the weekdays and it is packed! Salata is a fave of mine. This location was no exception to the rest. Everyone was very courteous, service was fast, and everything was very clean as well. The location has great parking, and is tucked away a little in the shopping center where it's located. My husband is in that area frequently, and had no idea it was there. I really want to like Salata, I've had good salads from here. But everytime I order from here the service is usually pretty dissapointing. Multiple times I have ordered for pick up and my salad has been wrong. Sometimes it's a custom salad, and once it was a standard salad with no alterations and it was still wrong. I think today takes the cake though as every single topping except TWO was left off my salad. Not to mention the lettuce looked a little slimy today in my opinion. I try to be understanding and have patience because I know everywhere is struggling with staffing right now, but multiple mistakes on multiple visits is a little too much for me. And being asked if I want to drive BACK to the restraunt to have my salad made properly when it should have been correct the first time is also a little too much for me. As my wife might tell you, I often have performance anxiety issues when under pressure. Maybe it's deciding which of the "31 flavors" to choose (don't get me started on toppings), or answering the 17 questions it takes to build a proper sandwich at the local sub shop. So, the first time at the just-opened Salata may be a nightmare for some. Sure, the setup is assembly-line Chipotle-style (or even Luby's-esque) meets the friendly "what can I do for you" staff of an In-N-Out meets a Top Chef mise en place challenge. But whereas at places like Jason's Deli or Souper Salad you can tweak your salad as you dine (dodging children jamming their fingers into the pudding), at Salata you build the whole thing at once. Well, they build it for you, as you move down the line of raw goodness. I'm glad we went after a walk in the park; after the dinner rush. During lunch, I'd probably be so stressed I'd run screaming and get something from the vending machine back at work. But the staff member who helped us was amazing building our two salads. We even got a little sample (with the requisite tiny spoon) of dressing to taste. She even suggested a combination of two dressings to try. Talk about choices. Feel sad when you see the dried cranberries and you already added the raisins earlier? Add them in too. Only the proteins and avocado will cost you extra. Everything seemed perfectly fresh. Some things even looked amazing: the hand-sliced grapes, for example (which my wife says tasted as good as they looked). I did learn that eating kale is like eating something I don't even want to step on in my yard. My only complaint is for the price, it would be better to have "real" plates. As it is, a $4 bowl of soup (save $1 if you also got a salad) is served in a cardboardy to-go container. The prices are practically what you'd pay for a salad, on glass plates, with real silverware, brought to your table for you, at a casual full-service restaurant. It is terribly easy to do gluten-free there, even all the dressings/soups. And it was fun to rock to "Pink" while dining. If I can turn into an ordering expert, and it stays as fresh and clean as it is now, it could become a go-to place. I am curious how it does in a crowded lunch. This is what I put on my salad today: -- Spinach -- Spring Mix -- Romaine Hearts -- Carrots -- Beets -- Banana Peppers -- Black and Green Olives -- Cauliflower -- Broccoli -- Tomatoes -- Peas -- Corn -- Sundried tomatoes -- Feta -- Smoked turkey That whole thing cost me $11. It would have been $8 if I didn't put protein on it. It comes in a big silver mixing bowl that seemingly has no bottom. Other bonuses are a brand new space, flavored teas and lemonades, fast wifi, comfy booths and a really friendly staff. If you're in it for the weight loss, make sure you take a look at their nutritional information. The dressings can be more calorific than you might think. I'm giving it 5 stars, not because it's a culinary masterpiece, but because it fills a much needed gap in the lunch salad space. They have everything you can think of for veggie and fruit toppings. It's good to go in with a salad end game in mind. They make all their dressings in house. I happen to love the fresh herb vinaigrette the most, if you are uncertain they always let me have a sample. There is no weight scales here. For $8, you have an unlimited selection of veggies, fruits, nuts and cheeses, tossed with dressing, and served with a slice of bread. Chicken can be added for $2, they have many different flavors to select from, or a seafood selection can be added for $3. They also have a wide range of house made teas and lemonades to choose from. At the end you have a large beautiful creation in a shiny silver bowl to take away too a table with you after paying at the register. I couldn't eat it all, and was able to get the remaining salad placed into a takeaway container. They have a fairly spacious inside seating area, or a couple of shaded tables outside. For dinner I wanted a good salad topped with a little seafood. My original choice had been Salata but having never eaten there, my family pressured me into going to the ever-predictable Red Lobster. As soon as we stepped inside the RL, I regretted my passivity. We were seated in a booth table...that was like a million booth tables I had sat at in, at a million corporate chain restaurants. The lighting was muted, the music generic, the menus slightly sticky and everything seemed to convey the message that we would receive a mediocre dinning experience with mediocre, yet overpriced food and leave with a smaller bank account but an over extended yet unsatisfied belly. Yuck! So, I did something I had only done once or twice in my life--I said I wanted to leave. I really wanted to leave. My family was slightly shocked (and some got mad) but we left. Anyway, we got in the car and drove to Salata. When we arrived I was instantly grateful we had changed venues. The shopping "mall" where Salata is located is lovely--nice stores, pleasing landscaping and just a good vibe. Right away my family admitted the change was better. The front of Salata is tucked into a private corner with tables and chairs for outdoor dining. It was a lovely evening so we did end up eating on the outdoor patio. As for the restaurant itself I can't say enough good things about Salata. The food is delicious and the portions generous. The Regular size bowl is huge!! The variety of fresh veggies for salad toppings are amazing and the crisp lettuces as well. There are also several flavors of chicken chunks or types of seafood or cheeses to add for proteins. There were over a dozen dressings to choose from. I chose the Chipotle Vinaigrette...which was excellent. There were 3 types of soups to choose from as well--the server recommended the tomato basil which was very yummy. Also, several types of breads were offered. There are fountain type drinks but also bottled drinks including Perrier (for extra $). There are also boxed juices, etc. A big plus in my mind is the fact the whole salad bar is served cafeteria style, so only the clean, gloved hands of the staff touch the food and the serving tools. No kids with grubby hands touching the salad tongs or people sneezing on the food. The price was very good--about $40 for 3 Regulars and 1 child. (Which is served Bento box style.) We had leftovers which we took home. And lastly, the staff were very nice and helpful. Salata will be our favorite take-out/eat-in place now. We loved it!! Ps.
