We noticed also the outdoor seating options. We were seated in a side room still open to the main restaurant but a bit more secluded. The menu consists of healthy food choices with a lot of fresh components. I had the ancient grain bowl with seared salmon , glazed sweet potatoes cubes , onions, portobello mushrooms, avocado slice , snap peas and pistachio pesto which delicious. I could have eaten the pesto by the spoon My friend had the Chinese chicken salad with bok choy, watermelon relish, mixed greens , pickled ginger and avocado. The food is healthy AND delicious. The server suggested the Edamame dumplings as appetizer which was heavenly tasty. He also recommended the jasmine green tea where I as an avid tea drinker immediately noticed the bursting flavor of jasmine. I've generally had good in-person dining experiences at True Food Kitchen, and the staff has usually been friendly, but my recent to-go order experience through Uber Eats was frustrating and inconvenient. I placed my order in the morning because I had a busy workday full of meetings and calls, and I wanted to have lunch handled in advance. Unfortunately, I later received a voicemail letting me know that items needed for my order were unavailable. At that point, I had to take time out of my schedule to call back, ask what was actually available, and choose another option. I ultimately ended up with my third choice rather than what I originally wanted. The bigger issue is that this should have been handled before customers were able to place orders. If certain ingredients or menu items are out of stock, that information should be updated in the app as early as possible so customers are not ordering items that cannot be prepared. It also creates problems for delivery drivers, who may arrive expecting an order to be ready only to find that there is confusion or a delay. Because the delivery app also made it difficult for me to cancel the order and take my business elsewhere, I felt stuck dealing with the inconvenience rather than being able to make a quick decision. I understand that inventory issues happen, but restaurants working with third-party delivery platforms need to make sure their menus, timing, and communication are accurate and up to date. Overall, I still appreciate the positive dining experiences I've had here in the past, but this to-go experience showed a real need for better coordination between the restaurant and delivery apps. Our server sort of disappeared for about 10 minutes, and one of my table mates said our server was hanging with coworkers in the kitchen. But after a wait, we placed our orders, and received our meals very quickly. I got the poke bowl, which was very good, and my coworkers all seemed to enjoy their meals, too. So, my 3 point rating is based on good food, average or less table service, fast kitchen. Some of my party would have loved a soda, but that's not available here. I have been wanting to to try True Foods for quite some time. I love this mission to provide healthy foods: grass fed, pasteurized meats, non-GMO and no seeds oil. However, my experience was terrible, waitress could care less about her job, food took over 35 minutes and the temp on the burger was well instead of requested medium rare! I waited so long I was starving and didn't care to send it back, the manager did comp the burger but it was a wasted time and a terrible experience. Also, my fries were composed of little nubs! I think the pricing is a little high but the portion sizes are generous and the food quality is good. Our server, Alan, took our order quickly and food came out at a nice pace. No complaints! ROASTED BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP (7/10) - This was a seasonal offering. I thought it had good flavor overall. SPICY PANANG CURRY BOWL (8/10) - You have to pay extra if you want to add a protein (chicken, steak, shrimp, salmon, or tofu) so it gets quite experience quickly but it is a massive portion! I used to love this place , I could come in any day at any time and the food was great and the service was outstanding. Not anymore. The food has been made mainstream and more like every other restaurant and less health based. The focus has shifted to appeal to a broader base of people yet it's driving people away. Many friends and family tell me they avoid coming here for the same reason I have avoided coming here as often. Air fried French fries that taste like microwave fries from the frozen section , sweet potato chips instead of roasted sweet potato hash and that's just the beginning of a list of changes that have taken the whole concept of this place away from its original purpose. Nothing is consistent the staff on Tuesday night February 3 2026 where more interested in talking at the bar than anything else. Even the expo guy came out of the kitchen and was just chatting up the hostess who wasn't even at her station up front when we arrived cause she was previously talking to the bar tender before the expo guy and couldn't be bothered. When we were seated our waitress didn't even greet our table for 15 min no exaggeration. I really wish I was because it was just a nail in the coffin for us not wanting to come back. Our waitress took our appetizer order and I ordered one drink out of the 5 of us who all got water and had to ask if my drink was ever going to come which ended up coming with our food. Again everyone was busy talking at the bar with other staff but zero customers around the bar to justify the whole staff minus the cooks just hanging out all together for long periods not serving anyone or refilling drinks. I mean if you can't ask for refills the company can't sell more drinks same with food or dessert. Look I get people get brakes I get the staff can chat I get nobody is perfect and the service industry is relentless but this was pure lack of care and laziness like whoever was the manager or in charge was out or something and everyone took advantage of it and slacked off without an afterthought on how it would affect the company as a whole. I'm one person you can pretend it was just my experience and I'm just grump or whatever you want in the end it will be hard to hide when more people write similar reviews or complain directly anyway. My daughter's pizza was beyond burnt on the bottom and was terribly bitter. We asked for it to be replaced and it didn't come out till all the rest of us were basically done eating. The quickest most responsive service of the whole dinner was being asked if we wanted our check and was promptly brought over. Then asked over and over if we were ready to pay , like damn I wish we had that kind of attention for our whole meal we don't even get refills once. The response to wanting us to hurry and pay and leave was faster than any of our initial waters had been brought to the table faster than being greeted by the hostess faster than our orders where taken or anything else , you get the point. The amount of lack of care in this place is sad because we used to know everyone by name and come quite often at one point this place was our favorite restaurant. All the changes all the bad service and all the people we loved are all gone. I'm predicting unless a miracle happens this location won't be around in 3-5 years at this rate. Stopped in for a quick bite while in the area. the avacado toast was good, both of us ordered it a little different, his toast was was larger then mine however both were thick and plenty of food. the dressing on the greens was maybe a honey mustard vinaigrette, it was good to top each bite of toast. the chili oil was a nice touch. Did date night at True Food Kitchen with my girlfriend. We love this domain locations ambiance and variety of healthy, delicious food + drinks. The matcha drinks here are some of the best in town! On this visit we did the "dinner duo" which allows you a choice of appetizer to share, one entree each, and a dessert for $50. While there were a good number of entree choices, a few of them had upcharges if selected. What's the point of including those on the dinner duo menu? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. We ordered the guacamole to share as the appetizer. For mains, I ordered the poke bowl and my girlfriend ordered the margherita pizza with pepperoni added. They only have one choice of dessert as part of the dinner duo - a flourless chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. The food was overall very good, but it would've been nice to have at least two dessert options to choose from. When we got the check, we noticed it was way higher than expected because of the upcharges put in incorrectly. Thankfully we did the math and pointed it out to our server, who after a little confusion fixed it. We stopped in here for a late lunch one afternoon. It was almost 3 o'clock so they were wrapping up for the day for their dinner service but we are able to get lunch. We were seated right away. The location is very bright very spacious and the service is exceptional. Our server was absolutely adorable and so sweet and so was the young lady that she was training. The cheeseburger was OK - the concept around this restaurant is that they focus on fresh food and healthy ways of cooking. All the french fries are air fryer cooked. Unfortunately, the ones that my husband got basically tasted like they had been at the bottom of the fryer basket. That maybe because they were getting close to closing. He said the burger was OK. You did have some flavor but overall just didn't hit what he was looking for, but served the purpose of having food in the stomach. I got the Chinese chicken salad, which I found to be the perfect size portion wasn't huge, but it was enough to fill me up. On my birthday we hosted our son and granddaughters for dinner. We ordered 3 glasses of wine and 2 soft drinks initially. Before we were served the waitress spilled another table's red wine on my granddaughter's shirt and my son's new shorts and shoes. No apologies were given. The waitress brought napkins and my requested glass of club soda. Then she disappeared. A different waitress brought a mop and began cleaning the floor behind my son. It was littered with broken glass and a carafe of spilled red wine. I had to ask her to move us to another table, which she did. After awhile the first waitress returned and took our order. After we were eating she told us we could have 2 free desserts as compensation. We did order the desserts. When the bill came, my husband paid it. Afterwards he said they discounted the meal. Upon looking at the receipt at home I saw that we were double charged for the 3 wines, then that overcharge was removed plus another $50. The bill totalled about $130. I was irate that my husband had not called the manager over to dispute the charges. He said as it was my birthday he didn't want to ruin it by causing a scene. I told him it was already ruined by the restaurant and he should have done more. I posted this same review on Open Table and the restaurant responded with an apology and assurance that they would discuss changes with the staff. However, no compensation for the ruined clothing which had to be replaced and cost significantly more than $50. I have never experienced anything like this before and am so outraged by the poor customer service and disregard that I am posting this review. Hopefully it will help someone else. read more

My first time at this True Food location. It was pretty dead for a Saturday night and we were seated right away. It was freezing inside the restaurant so we opted to sit outside since the weather was beautiful. Unfortunately it rained the day before and the seat cushions were soaked! I ordered the seasonal market salad which was a bed of mixed greens, dates, roasted carrots and cauliflower, crumbled feta, pistachios, and dressed in a creamy apple tahini vinaigrette. I added a side of grilled chicken. The salad was light and refreshing but quite filling. I wish I skipped the chicken--it was extremely dry. My husband enjoyed the grass fed burger. I was first introduced to the "ingredients obsessed, chef crafted" True Food Kitchen in Cali, although they now extend across 18 States, with 2 locations in Austin. I love the idea that "good for you" can taste good too, and their menu caters to dietary restrictions (GF, DF, vegetarian, zero-proof) without sacrificing taste. This specific visit wasn't the best, with seating moving slow during an off-time and my protein over-salted, but the kitchen quickly corrected and the bartender was able to fill service gaps. We've been passing by True Food Kitchen many times when we hang out at the Domain but never had an opportunity stop in for a meal. We had to run some errands at the domain today and decided to stop in for a Sunday brunch. True Food Kitchen has brunch menu that run from 11 AM to 3 PM on Saturday and Sunday while still maintaining and offering their normal lunch menu, which is great. Reservations are available through OpenTable but for a Sunday around lunchtime didn't feel like we really need one. The place filled up quickly after we arrived, but I wouldn't say there is a wait line to get seated. We thoroughly enjoy the healthy brunch. Our server Steven was very attentive. They offer a decent selection on their kids menu, which we appreciate. Edamame dumplings - (3/5) these dumplings are a little too healthy for me and the stuffing is too mushy for my liking. The broth is quite light with flavorful earthy undertone and a nice touch with fresh cilantro to add brightness to the dish. Ancient grain bowl - (4/5) the dish has a nice balance in flavor and texture. Packed with nutrients. Definitely can fill you up. Kale salad with added protein (Shrimp) - (4/5) I will enjoy this dish, specially the lemon dressing. Dressing really add Value to this dish. The shrimps look bare and plain, but very tasty. Matcha Horchata latte - (4/5) typical matcha latte and did not carry a hint of Horchata, which is quite disappointing. The kids ordered the grass fed cheeseburger from the kids menu ($10) , and they really liked it. Really underwhelming all around. I remember coming here a year ago and it being good enough to recommend after some Top Golf. We were able to get a Sat evening reservation quickly, which was great. We were seated with menus and must've slipped through the cracks. After 15 min, we had to check with staff if we were assigned a server. We hadn't yet been helped. Our server came and another team member came by to tell us it wasn't that server's fault, so we were ready to start fresh and enjoy our meal. Honestly, I tried to give this place a fair shot. The quality of the food is typically good, but my past three experiences have left me not wanting to go back. Typically, I pick up my food, and it is usually at least 10 if not 15 minutes later than the given pick up time. The last time I went here, about three weeks ago, I left a three star review because the portions were small and it took nearly half an hour for my food to be ready. I decided to order again today, just to see if anything has changed. In this case, I ordered the Chinese chicken salad, which was notably missing avocado, bok choy, and the almond and quinoa mix it's supposed to have. The only positive I can give at this point is that the food is still tasty. Portions are very small given the cost, and to forget a third of the ingredients doesn't give me much confidence in the rest of the food preparation. We recently had a friend who was vegan visit Austin and wanted to find the most accessible option in The Domain for their diet and ended up at True Food Kitchen. True Food Kitchen has numerous vegan and vegetarian options and is generally very mindful of food allergies/alterations that need to be made. Parking is abundant with it being in The Domain although it's good to note the parking lot behind the restaurant is typically VERY packed so keep that in mind for your visit. Entering the restaurant the check-in process for our reservation was very quick and we were seated promptly. The restaurant is clean and has a sleek modern look with a glass window view into the kitchen where they prep the food. Ordering was quick, although our waitress was a bit flighty, coming back multiple times just to get our water or to double check on allergies we told her about before. It didn't impact the final product of the food, but was a strange interaction to say the least. We ordered the seasonal spinach & mushroom pizza and the all-american burger. The pizza was a surprisingly good meal. The roasted mushrooms and spinach were great toppings and the lemon ricotta on top was a fantastic addition. All around a much better pie than anticipated. As for the all-american burger it was ehh. Nothing was very impressive about it BUT there was something that irked us and that was the fact that fries were an additional $2.5 with the burger. Since the only other sides you can get were salads (huh?), it felt like you had to fork over the extra money. When a burger is hanging around $20 it should be standard to have fries included. Not to mention the fries were awful. They're air fried and came out crispy as could be, what a huge miss on that. Ultimately, True Food Kitchen is a good spot to take those with vegan or vegetarian diets but is probably a skip unless you're looking for that specific reasoning. I've been coming here for years and have always thought of it as a solid spot for if I'm in the Domain area. It was really the one place I could get a good gluten-free, dairy-free pizza -- with many delicious customization options such as almond ricotta, chicken sausage and more. I'd get this pizza really every visit -- but unfortunately, as of my most recent order, it looks like they changed the gluten-free pizza crust to inherently include dairy. This choice is really bizarre to me, and I don't really understand why they would go out of their way to add allergies to a food that previously really accommodated them. It's extra bizarre when all of their add-ons are also specifically made to be vegan. I'm afraid I've lost really the one reason I regularly come here, which is pretty disappointing. Recently went back to True Foods after a hiatus of a few years. Once we turned vegan, we had found their vegan offerings were lacking in consistency and quality so we had stopped going here. We decided to give it another try when they announced airfried French fries and boy am I glad we did!!! The French fries are crispy yet soft inside, and they brought us 3 vegan dipping sauces for them. The harissa was my favorite, but the pesto was amazing and hubby loved the Peri peri ketchup. The hummus is divine- I was expecting your standard hummus, but this is the best flavor profile hummus-wise we have found in Austin. It's better (and cheaper) than Aba and better than your standard run of the mill hummus. They've expanded their zero proof drink menu, and we've tried most of them in the past month or so of going back at happy hour to enjoy the discount on drinks and hummus. We recently tried the vegan pizza (which had severely disappointed us two years ago) and WOWZA! The quality has skyrocketed. Yummy caramelized onions, vegan ricotta, lovely mushrooms and piled with toppings. The service is good and it's quiet enough that we can chat easily through dinner without having to raise our voices. Went to True Food Kitchen in the Domain and it was better than expected. Honestly you see healthy restaurant and usually think no flavor or small portions. That was not the case in either sense. The food was excellent and had much more flavor than I expected. The edamame dumplings were super herbaceous and flavorful. The teriyaki bowl my wife got came out piping hot but she could barely finish it cause the portion was so generous. I got the ahi tuna poke bowl and it was delightful. This restaurant is a great choice if you are looking for a healthy option or need gluten free, vegan and vegetarian options. They even have some fruit juices and non-alcoholic drinks. Man I love this place. Elevated healthy food! So yummy! I was fortunate that my boss gave me a generous gift card to come here. My husband encouraged me to go to lunch by myself and and splurge. I got the seasonal butternut squash soup, the roasted cauliflower, and the grilled brussel sprouts, as well as a hangover drink, and a espresso martini. All vegan, all amazing! BRUNCH. The service was AMAZING, the staff were very kind, and helpful, so that's NOT why this place is getting a 3 star. I'll start with the good, the aesthetic is greens nd healthy and cute, and the menu has a variety of vegetarian and gluten free options. THE DRINKS ARE WHERE ITS AT. The healthy juices, the coffee, the matcha... all scrumptious. The muffins are DELICIOUS, the blueberry pancakes were good too.... Now the bad. The fries were tasteless. The farmers hash (being the best brunch option in the menu) was probably one of the worst hash's I've had. The burger was mid, and the tomato basil soup was mid. The good: the waitress was friendly and helpful. Crispy sandwich and pink lemonade were absolutely great. The sandwich was fresh, crispy and the bread was soft and lightly toasted. The fries were extra tasty especially once I got the "Tuscan dust". The bad: I asked for the buffalo sauce on the side and they forgot it. I also asked for the fries to have "Tuscan dust", also forgotten. The waitress brought them both out for me and I appreciated it but the fries would've been better tossed. Great concept of a place. Came here with friends and loved the menu. Tried the teriyaki quinoa bowl with chicken and the clean margarita. Everything was so tasty and well presented. My friends and I had a blast here. There's a few choices for mocktails if you're into non alcoholic drinks. I mean even the desserts were superb. I had the chai cake with ice cream and it was so full of flavors. The service was great. Our waitress was attentive and very accommodating. I do have to come back and try new things. I'm leaving this review specifically for the female employee working the food line on May 12 around 12:20 PM. I walked into the to-go area and waited about five minutes without anyone coming into the to go area. After waiting, I opened and peeked into the "employees only" door just to get someone's attention--I did not step inside! The employee working the line saw me, seemed visibly annoyed, and immediately walked over to pull shut the door while I was still holding it. Instead of asking how she could help, she told me this is an employee only area with a lot of attitude. I explained I was just trying to pick up an order and had been waiting, but she cut me off, rolled her eyes, and said, "What's the name?" She grabbed my food and that was that. I understand the need for employee-only spaces, but the interaction felt unnecessarily rude and dismissive. I was simply trying to get assistance and pick up my food, and the eye-rolling and interruption were unprofessional and inappropriate for a customer service setting. 0/10 I truly love this place- all of the food is amazing and I come here very very often. This won't stop me from coming back, I do however believe the employee's attitude needs to be addressed. read more
