Salata is the go-to spot for a quick, light, filling lunch. They have so many options to choose from!! You start with your base which can be anything from spring mix to spinach or kale. Then you choose from dozens of awesome toppings with great variety like fruit, veggies, nuts, cheeses, etc. Finish up by choosing protein, dressing, and bread/croutons/pita chips. The smaller salad is around $7 and the larger salad is $8. I will say the salmon was truly fantastic as was the vinagrette. Just note that the salmon is a "premium" meat and incurs a $4 upcharge. I tried the broccoli soup as well and it was pretty good. Overall, I recommend Salata as a great lunch stop. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I've only heard good things about it, and it was my turn to try it out. I came here on a dinner date with 3 other girlfriends and only one of us had experience, so the rest of us had no idea what to do. It's just like a subway deal, you choose salad/wrap, choose what goes in side, the vinaigrette, and then the meat. I think if you get the salad you get a free bread (?) but I got the wrap and it was so perfect. I actually had sweet tomatoes the day before I went to salata, and I don't think I could ever go back to sweet tomatoes. Salata gave me a very good experience (although I chose everything that went in haha). If you don't know which vinaigrette you want, they will let you sample, but if you notice, the herb vinaigrette is the least full, there's a reason why. It's so delicious! I fell in love with it once I sampled it. Then when choosing meat, I went on the safe side with pesto chicken because I absolutely love pesto on anything ;9 The wrap was big in my eyes, but my stomach wanted more (I usually thought your eyes eat more...) I've wanted to check this place out for a while but honestly never took the time. As of last week I can officially say I had the pleasure of trying Salata and it was a real treat! They have over 50 toppings to choose from including an array of lettuces, vegetables, fruits, cheeses, seeds, nuts, 10 different house-made dressings and your choice of several different chicken or seafood protein options. I think the serving bar set up with only two main options is a great customer friendly idea although at lunch time this place gets really packed. I think its fair priced at $8.00 per salad and $7 per wrap (not including a chicken or seafood add on) considering the unlimited toppings they offer and how large the salad bowls are. I mean they are huge and I had a small salad. All together I really enjoyed my Salata experience, the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable and I thought it was superb when I learned that all of the dressings, marinades and soups that Salata use and offer are gluten free. In addition to the portion size and topping options I really like the home-like vibe I get from eating at Salata. My favorite items are the Salata Mix, Asian BBQ Chicken, the Cool Cucumber tortilla, the Balsamic Vinaigrette and the Tomato Basil soup. There has been much improvement since my last review. Employees and service has gotten much better and the food tastes better too. The salads are nicely chopped or distributed and the proteins are not served cold as before. The only complaint I have is how stingy the employees are. I usually ask for a variety of vegetables and all I get is a little bit. Sometimes I have to keep asking them for more and more and all they give me is perhaps 2 or 3 extra pieces of whatever I ordered. I understand if I ask for a lot, but not even. Still not the best salata location, but for now it's do-able if I want a salad fix. Hopefully it'll improve some more because I know it can. read more

Solo I go here on and off. They have good salads, a little pricey. It's quick, clean. But last time I was here, they ran out of their main lettuce, that's right a salad place that ran out of salad. We asked the employees a few times if they were sure they would not get in more, they said only spinach kale and spring mix. By the time we got to checkout someone was bringing lettuce. I stopped by to pick up a salad for dinner on my way and what a disappointment. There was food scattered all over the counter, food in the salad dressings which made the food uninviting. I struggled to eat it when I got home. I have been to this location several times and it has never looked this bad. I will give it one more try and hope things are better. read more

We tried this location yesterday. I have been to several Salatas. With this one, we felt rushed by one of the women behind the counter. We kept having to ask her to go back (up the line). She also was super stingy with the vegetables. For example, I asked for cucumbers. She put in half a spoonful. It was probably the equivalent of 2 whole slices of a cucumber cut into quarter pieces. In any restaurant that serves salad, you will get more than this. I had to ask for more. We are unsure why she was in such a hurry, as there were no people behind us or in front of us in the line. We did not purchase anything but a drink for one of our children, while the other one got a salad. The cash register woman asked us in an elevated voice, "he's not eating?" We felt it was rude and not really her business. We do not think she was asking to be helpful. WWe will not return to this location, as there are other locations with better service and many, many other restaurants in this area with great service. Update - went back this weekend. The service was much better. It took longer to get through the line, but we did not feel rushed at all. Well done! read more

I love Salata. I go to different Salata locations at least 3 times week. I have been to this specific Salata location about 20 times probably. All of the staff is typically nice. There is a girl who is always down by the register. I think she is a manager because she wears a black or maroon shirt at times (short young hispanic girl). She is always rude. Never smiling. God forbid your salad wrap be packed full of toppings. She gets mad because it's hard to fold. Well, that's your job. If you do not like your job, QUIT. I would like to add that your counter is always dirty and it's DISGUSTING when you use your glove to wipe off the counter and then you touch my food. Use a towel for crying out loud. The guy with the beard and glasses is so bad about it. I stick away from cross contamination when it comes to food, especially because I am allergic to nuts. Tonight when I went in to order my salad, the entire place was TRASHED including the line. Toppings were empty and food was all over the place. I did not care. I just wanted my salad. Well when I got home, I realized that I had a short hair in my salad. There is no way that it could be mine because I'm bald. No hair anywhere on my body. The guy who helped me was the guy with the facial hair and glasses. Might be time to shave. I'm just shocked. This place makes me WANT to eat healthy. I come here so often that the employees recognize us immediately. I personally love a salad wrap with celery, cucumber, and crab meat. I love that you can even add bean sprouts and alfalfa! They also have a really good raspberry punch and even a selection of soft drinks and alcohol. I'd say the only downside is that if you're ordering a salad wrap, be careful about how much stuff you're putting in it. Otherwise, when you're eating it, a lot of the stuff will end falling out all over the place! o_o Salata is definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Vintage Park area and I recommend it to anyone looking for a healthy lunch or dinner. read more

Two of the women who were serving looked unhappy to be there and gave an attitude. I wish I knew this one woman's name because she was the most unpleasant and it felt really awkward. She was the same one who put a bunch of salad mix into my bowl and then realized she put a little too much of the salad mix (i didn't think it was too much) so she took some of it back out of my bowl. I really wish I had asked her what her name was. Anyways, I ordered a salad with falafels in it and they only give 2 falafels pieces which they break apart with their tongs to created "pieces" of falafal. There wasn't even enough falafel pieces and it seemed like they were really cheaping out and trying to put the most minimum of everything. My new favorite place for a healthy wraps! My better half had been talking up this place for some time but I was skeptical - not because of the food but having to make my own salad. I've always liked my salads pre-made - meaning that the ingredients are selected to go with one another and a complimentary dressing. The first time I went I wasn't too pleased on my choices; but, he introduced me to their wraps, and now I'm hooked! The ingredients are so fresh - I've yet to see anything that is wilted or days old. I was craving a salad and was planning on picking one up from potbelly when I saw this place and decided to give it a go. The base price for salad is $8 and to add chicken is $2 and fish is $3. Being the broke college student I am, I just decided to make a veggie salad hoping that an $8 salad for lunch would suffice. I really liked all the options and how fresh and clean everything was. But by the time my salad was made i was just like "that's it?!" they were very stingy with everything I asked to be put on my salad including the lettuce. Despite an $8 salad not coming close to satisfying my appetite, it tasted really good. The spicy chipotle ranch dressing was actually pretty spicy which i liked a lot. Overall if you're a woman looking for a salad and don't care about money this is right up your ally. I just don't see any normal sized guy being satisfied with the portions. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at Salata. This place has sprouted all over Houston. My boyfriend has been dying to go there but I haven't been too interested. Everytime we pass one, which seems like all the freaking time, he always comments on how he wants to go there. I couldn't have cared less. I've never enjoyed salad as a meal. It always been a side or an appetizer and mostly to help me feel less guilty about indulging in whatever fattie-friendly food I've ordered. But I guess in relationships you have to compromise sometime or so I'm told. The set up is pretty straightforward. You can get either a salad or a salad wrap and there are two choices of sizes for the salad. I went with the small salad which was a good helping and enough for me. Then there are the 3928773 choices and the kicker is.... there are NO labels. So unless you know what most things look like, you're on your own. Of course the veggies are straightforward but they have things like chickpeas and jicama. I would have never known how to spot a chickpea until I googled a hummus recipe. And what the eff is jicama? All these more enlightened people than me kept adding it to their salad. Next you get to pick your dressing. They have quite a selection. Luckily, they have taster spoons before you commit to one. I went with the herb vinaigrette and so glad I did! After your dressing, you get your choice of protein. There are variety of chicken offerings from chipotle chicken, bbq, and pesto. There's also baked salmon, shrimp, and crab meat. I went to the worlds smallest piece of salmon. Then more decisions!! You get a choice of bread. Then there's soup. When I went there was cream of broccoli, tortilla, and tomato basil. I went with a cup of cream of broccoli and it was fantastic! I'm always down for broccoli soup that isn't doused in cheese sauce. I really love going to eat at a great salad bar, which is what I thought this was at first, but was very surprised to see they make the salad for you, you just tell them the ingredients! Went down the line and picked from amazing, fresh product. I really didn't know what to te expect with Salata, but I love it! I entered this location, nowhere near me, on a Saturday afternoon. Not very busy but there were a decent amount of people in there. I am a big salad fan..especially putting many things in it! So I love that there is so much variety and things I didn't even think of putting in a salad! The salad is huge, I must admit and I scarfed that whole thing down! Its not too bad priced $8 for the salad $2/3 to add meat to it. Their chicken, they have different seasoned types, I had the pesto chicken. I was tempted to get soup but it was flipping hot out and I decided just to go with the salad! Wow, this place is the bomb! Delicious wraps and great selection of toppings. I had my boyfriend bring a wrap home for me for lunch and it was a great choice. My boyfriend had a salad and he said it was great! The wraps are really huge and I was full eating only half of a whole, but that just makes it better to save the other half for later. if you don't want to wait in line, they have an order menu where you can order everything you want online and then all you have to do is pick it up and pay for what you ordered. Went here with my mom and gotta say I'm not a huge salad fan. I would prefer a double bacon cheese burger any day. That should tell you how much salad I eat. Anyways went here and was wildly surprised. I loved loved the seafood spring mix. I mean I ate everything in my bowl and was like wow. This restaurant is set up similar to Chipotle where you order and pick the various options you want to add to your entree.You have a choice of of salad bowl or a salad wrap! Then the fun begins where you can pick what type of salad you want, toppings, dressing, meat! The only complaint that I had, is that when the workers wrap up your salad you have to make sure they wrap it tight enough, so that it won't unravel when you're eating it! It's like a Chipotle/Subway assembly line joint. I got the large bowl but looking back now a small is enough. You can still add all the goodies to it you want and you really only get more lettuce and not more toppings. We didn't try the wraps. Choice of lettuce - including spinach which I love as a salad. Then selection of salad stuff is pretty decent. If you ask for more than their first little pinch it's ok. Because all you get if you don't is a little pinch. So don't be afraid if you want a lot of beets or a lot of tomatoes or a lot of boiled egg or whatever. I was disappointed they didn't have artichoke hearts but they do have a nice fresh selection of about everything else you could want in a salad. From beans to a few choices in grated cheese - including blue - you can make a terrific chef's salad. For a buck or two more you can add chicken, shrimp or other seafood. They did have a variety of seasoned chicken which was nice. The peach lemonade was fantastic! They had some beer and wines available too. And the tomato basil soup was really, really good for a quick serve place like this. I was kinda struck by how they didn't speak to you about what you were offered as ingredients as you walked down the row. They just stood there and waited for you to speak or point. It would have been nice to have been asked if we wanted bacon in the soup since it was available or what kind of breads they had to add to the soup or anything...but they all just stood there with their little chef hats on and never made eye contact. And the plastic silverware was a big disappointment. I mean you are washing all those big metal bowls. You couldn't spring to wash a few forks? With all the additional plastic trash you're heaping out because of the throw away utensils I'm really disappointed. This location was on one of those booster club discount cards my Godson sold through his high school. So I finally took advantage of it. They do have locations all over the city including one soon near my house. Three of us escaped for about $40. There's nothing about the salads that make it any different than you could make at home except the prep time. But for lunch or a change from Potbelly or Subway it was nice. Yes! I love this place. I love salads. And I love putting a bunch of different veggies and things into my salads. At this place you can have it done your way. You tell them what you want on your salad and they do that and all the tossing for you! There's lots of choices and their marinated chicken is really good. The wraps are good. I like stopping by for a fresh, Mediterranean wrap from time to time, and the pita chips are always a plus. The staff at this location can at times be hit or miss. On a couple of occasions, especially when it is slow, we have felt rushed to eat our meal. The staff will put up chairs way before it is time to close. It just doesn't feel welcoming. I understand that employees would like to leave right after closing -- just don't make the customers feel like they have to leave early.
