The Big Salad seems over priced for what you get. Yes, you can select your ingredients right in front(not sure how fresh the ingredients are). Service is so-so. The food is good, but nothing special. The dressing are different and not a wide range of selections .

I was craving a salad so picked up some friends to try this place out. It was worth it. They have custom salads or you can make your own. They have the big salad or baby salad. The baby salad is big enough for 2 people. My husband got the Caledonia salad and he liked it...my son got the honey chicken sandwich and loved it. The tortilla soup was really good also. We will be back

Do not eat here! Both my guy and I were sick this morning after eating lunch here. You walk in and it seems very clean and organized. I should have known better than to disregard the HUGE chunks of black mold that came out of the tea urn. I served myself ice from the soda machine. Then I proceeded to pour green tea into my cup for my beverage. Big black gunk poured out Into my cup. This was NOT tea leaves. I am positive! I told the cashier and showed her what I pulled out and squeezed it between my fingers. She apologized and gave me a new cup. I then opted for a Pepsi. We received our order and neither of the two employees came out to empty the tea urn and take it to the back to disassemble the spout and clean it. We ate our meal and still the tea urn sat on the counter for people to use. Not until we got up to leave and they asked how everything was, and we inquired about the tea urn, did they finally react. This was disturbing. I didn't think about it again. We went on with our day and I made dinner at home. Being in the food industry myself, I know how long it takes to react to anything bad you ingest. I am certain the ice bin and Pepsi nozzles are so dirty with black mold and this is what got us sick. I should have know better. The second knock to this establishment is that we attempted to have dinner the night before and arrived at 6:45pm. The web states they close at 8pm. When we arrived the two staff members had everything covered and said they close at 7pm. The window also states 8pm, but hey, who are we. The salad was good. The soup was thick like gravy and the sandwich looked NOTHING like the marketing.

Mexican tortilla soup & a salad of my own design: romaine, spinach, broccoli, carrots, onion, feta, almonds, bacon & sesame ginger dressing

Spring is growing by leaps and bounds with new restaurants popping up every day! Here's why you should stop in to The Big Salad: 1. Have it your way! Take advantage of the build-your-own salad option and get all your favorite toppings in a baby sized (which is actually quite large) or big sized (enough salad to feed an island of rabbits) salad. Start with your lettuce choice: iceberg, spinach, or romaine. Or hey get crazy and get a mixture of lettuce! *My go-to salad is a mix of romaine and spinach, broccoli, carrots, onion, feta, almonds and bacon! Top it all off with the delightful ginger sesame dressing and you have a trophy salad! 2. Pre-designed salads: if you only have enough brain power to decide where you want to eat but not what you want to eat; grab a Pre-designed salad and enjoy your meal without the hassle of making several decisions. 3. Tomato Basil Soup, Mexican Tortilla soup, and broccoli cheddar...just ALL the soups! Can't decide what you want? The friendly employees will let you sample them! 4.Cleanliness: this is a brand new storefront in a brand new shopping center, so this place is impeccably clean! 5.Music: dine in and enjoy the lovely "dinner music" playing in the dining room. 6. Real plates & Real silverware: I tend to hate cafeteria style restaurants because it feels so wham-bam-thank you ma'am, but not here! The plate ware bumps this place up. Have you stopped reading yet? I would have...this is a novel. But seriously, go get a fresh salad. Treat yourself to a delicious soup. And meet the friendly employees eager to help you make the right food selection. *Bonus!* There is a rewards app for freebies and discounts. I got a free big salad during my birthday month.

I totally get the hype about this place! If I lived nearby, you can bet I'd work my way through…read moretheir whole menu. There's just something different about this style of sandwich. I've had sandwiches in NYC and Boston, but Tony's were definitely better! The menu is overwhelming because so much sounds good, so we went with two 7 inch sandwiches to split--one hot and one cold. Although a helpful tip from the cashier is that you can order any cold sandwich hot. We had the Lucky Luciano (hot) and the Sophia (cold). Both were really good--it was hard to choose between the two. But if I'm being honest, that cold sandwich was reminiscent of subs I loved in the early 2000s from places that no longer exist...with that super thinly sliced turkey, thick slice of Swiss cheese, and basil mayo--it really hit the spot. We also had a cannolo--not as good as others I've had. The bottled root beer was delightful. The Lucky Luciano was the kind of sandwich I came here for, and don't get me wrong, it is deliciously cheesy and will make your hands messy. But the Sophia is the kind of sandwich I'll be craving. My only regret was not taking a sandwich to-go for later. Open a location closer to Houston, please. :)

They are a pepsi place (booooooo!), and there's no diet pepsi (pepsi zero is their only zero calorie soda option). If you drink Diet Coke (most popular diet drink in USA), then you don't want diet pepsi, but you'll probably drink it if you have to; however, you're very likely to hate pepsi zero (and Coke Zero, too), so no soda for you here anymore! A full Coke setup that also includes Dr Pepper AND Diet Dr Pepper is ideal. I realize a pepsi fountain is more profitable because of distributor incentives, but pepsi is favored by almost nobody and hated by many...so is it really worth it? Tony's is so great that pepsi just does not fit in. Hopefully they don't deteriorate further and change to Wonderbread for all of their sandwiches. Bottom line: at the very least, please add diet pepsi to your soda machine if that brand remains in place.

But here's my experience: I walked in. There is a gentleman with blonde hair and a cap on who welcomed me. I tell him that this is my first time ever coming to this establishment. He doesn't rush me. He allowed me to pick what I wanted. Now the next young lady who started making the sandwich was veryyyyy new. She was nervous so we'll bypass her little mistake. There's another lady by the name of Bernice who was absolutely amazing. Her attitude was upbeat. She helped me to understand the process as well. Now it's time for me to check out. There is an older lady that's tall who gave NO allowance to the fact that I was a NEW customer. She asked if my meal was to go or not, but she gave me the impression that she may have jumped the gun by wrapping the sandwich before asking the question. So I say, "whichever is easiest for you". It's obvious that there are new employees there so I tried to work with everybody. She lowers her voice and speaks to me in a stern manner. I expressed again I was new to the restaurant and did not know the process. I asked,. "Are you going to put it on a plate and give it to me if I eat here or do you wrap it up and bag it regardless I don't know your process." She explained the process. So I told her just to put it on the bag and that I would work it out . I said thank you. I asked for my cup that she forgot to give me. She says oh yeah, she passed me the cup. At this point, I wasn't gonna ask her for the lid. Then I just said," no worries. We are all new here". At THAT POINT, I knew I would never come back because of her aggressiveness. So as I'm eating my sandwich, here comes Bernice with a smile on her face who asked, " how do you like your sandwich and is everything OK for you?" THIS CHANGED EVERYTHING!!!! When she thought I was done, she came back to the table and said can I help you with anything? How was your meal? Mannnnnn, she won me over!!!! I managed a call center in banking for 7 years and stayed in management until, I retired. When I tell you Bernice totally changed my mind about everything! I will be back. The food was good!!. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and even helped us select an entrée for Mom. We both ordered the Chicken Panini, hers with broccoli soup and mine with chicken pot pie soup. Our meals were delivered promptly by a sweet, cordial young lady. Mom was excited to see her entrée, but after a few bites, she found her broccoli soup too salty. I tasted it as well and suspected the cheddar cheese base was the reason. I went to the counter to request a bowl of hot water to dilute the soup, which helped a little. The gentleman who took our order noticed and immediately asked if everything was okay. When I mentioned the high sodium content for Mom, he kindly offered to bring another cup prepared with more milk or to swap it for a different soup. Mom opted for the potato soup, and he graciously brought it out. The Chicken Panini was excellent -- warm, well-made, and flavorful. The side of plain house chips was decent, though a bit salty for our taste -- especially when paired with the soup. A baked chip option might be a nice, lighter alternative for some guests. The restaurant itself was clean, and I appreciated seeing staff promptly clearing and wiping down tables as guests left. It added to the welcoming and well-kept atmosphere. We ended our meal with a smooth, delicious ice cream cone -- the perfect sweet finish. While a few items were on the salty side for us, the outstanding service, clean environment, and overall meal quality made the visit worthwhile. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately about a year ago from the date of this review, Peter, which was the Asian owner of Chinese decent, decided to retire and long be gone. I was saddened to hear they I cannot get my delicious cheese steak sandwiches that I have not been able to find anywhere else. I'm a little bit biased to this establishment because I used to work there in the late '80s for a few months helping to make the preps for the foods there. Forward to now, I found this place upon a recommendation from a friend and semince this is a block for my residence I decided to try it. BLAST!! This is a spitting image out what ROCKY'S tasted like when it existed. I was blown away also when I heard that owner of this establishment that's been here for decades, was high school friend with Peter. (of Rocky's Subs) so they decided to open a business amongst each other in different places hence the parallel recipes as well as the pizza. It is rough inside and it showing its age but there are such thing as hole in the walls and sometimes they are the best places to eat correct? Well here is one of them and the bonus benefit is the prices are early 1990s currency! Where else can you get a Cheesesteak Hoagie for the price of around $7 and some change plus half price on the next one? This place never seems busy you know I was wondering how it stays open but hurry and get your cheese steak fixed before this guy decides to follow suit. There are coupons for the pizza that you can pick up at the counter and already at a very purposely priced average layout of $12 ish you can even get a discount off of that which you can feed a small party. This is one of those places where I tried it three times in one week and those that know me no that I will legitimately return as a nuisance until I'm sick of an establishment... and here I am. That Ambience is Cafe style and you're not going to get any decorations or happy cashiers but you will get a glimpse of its past ghostly history which seem to have been a Mexican restaurant at one time....decades ago! Don't let the outside deter you because there's not much to see and if you're driving past here fast enough, you might not see it and then when you step inside, don't get a double whammy of being surprised but just try the product for pizza sake, you will love it.
