They offer different bases like spinach, spring mix, romaine lettuce, etc. There are also a variety of different toppings that you can choose from like tomatoes, cucumbers, fruits, nuts, etc. I like to pile mine on with fruits. Depending on the season, they'll change up their toppings. In the summer, they'll have mango or blueberries. Salata also offers a handful of proteins that you can choose from, but it's extra $$. My friend and I were just around the corner from Salata's doing some shopping, so it was the perfect place for lunch. We arrived just at noon and although there was a line, things moved along fairly briskly--really can't complain. The folks behind the counter were very friendly and helpful. My friend ordered the small salad, I the regular and as you can see in my side-by-side photo, both are generous. They will put in as much as you want of any ingredient, and there are many (see Merredith G's photos). The proteins were extra charge ($3) as were the avocado and artichoke hearts ($1) but well worth the money. I won't regale you with all my ingredients but let's just say they were numerous; I did opt for the chipotle chicken and artichoke hearts. I had the spicy chipotle ranch dressing (and it was spicy--thank you!); at first, I didn't think the amount put into the bowl would coat the salad but it did--perfectly. I've noticed that some reviewers complain that Salata is pricey "just for salad." Okay, my salad totaled $12. But the ingredients were exceptionally fresh (one counterperson saw a wilted spinach leaf she was about the place in my bowl and picked it out immediately) and if you bought the ingredients separately from your friendly neighborhood grocer, you would have spend about 50% more, to say nothing of preparing the food for the salad. When quality of ingredients is evident and I'm full--okay, make that stuffed--I'll spend $12 for that any day. And let's face it, you'd pay that much for any decent lunch, wouldn't you? So the next time you're poking around the Park North Mall, stop in and give Salata's a try. It may cost a little more than an average salad bar but it's well worth it. read more

I am surprised by how much I have fallen in love with this place. After a Yelp Elite Experience at Salata and tasting their menu, I have found myself here a few more times since then. A date with the boo. A stop during lunch. A casual drive by. This is THE salad bar in San Antonio I've been telling my friends and coworkers about for both salad enthusiast and salad haters alike! You start with your choice of size and base for the salad. I like the Salata mix because it has a mix of greens in it. You can also get spinach and kale as well if you want to up your salad game. Next you choose your other choices and the variety is super amazing. I love mixing in some mandarin with walnuts, cilantro and little bit of black beans. Mix it all together with their mango and ranch sauce and you have a lovely combination to add crab to. Yes, crab. Their protein selection is as impressive as their selection of veggie. You can also get toppings, such as bacon, nuts or crunchy breads. With the endless possibility of salads to drool over, I do want to point out that their tomato soup is the most amazing tomato soup I've ever had, and thats with me not really liking tomato soup at all! I do recommend trying that (it's an extra dollar, and totally worth it). And, if you're splurging their cookies are phenomenal, as in gurl Tiff's treat phenomenal. Also, their teas on Tap are great. Be sure to try mixing the flavors for some great combinations. I'm particularly fond of experimenting with their prickly pear limeade. The staff have always provided great customer service. Seriously, if you have an allergy, they will find a way to accommodate and recommend! The first employee who helped us was kind and I liked the pace she was going; she was prompt but she wasn't rushing my partner or I to choose what additives we wanted in our salads. (We weren't being particularly slow, I personally needed a moment to decide which items I wanted.) They ended up getting a bit busy because of the time of day, so another employee came to take over the middle of the line. This employee was not very genuine, was rushing us a bit, and called us sir or ma'am every single time she spoke to us. She was misgendering us, calling me something that I do not go by and doing the same for my partner. I understand manners as I was raised in the south where we were taught to say this to our elders, but maybe don't do this to people who appear younger. I found it a bit off putting. She also put a second layer of dressing on my salad without me confirming that that was what I wanted. I asked her how much would one layer cover, she ignored me and laughed as she poured the second layer on. I don't think it was intentional, as in maybe she was going so fast she didn't hear me, but I can't guarantee that. Maybe take a second to actually listen to your customers! I wasn't 100% happy with the taste of my salad because of this, it was overly drenched in the dressing when I got home to eat it. The overall vibe of the place is okay, I didn't feel like the energy was particularly bad in the entire restaurant. One of my favorite places for lunch! Food: always fresh and delicious! People: Usually pretty friendly, but today the 2nd lady seemed to be a bit irritated, stingy and in a hurry. The spoons are small and I literally got 4 grapes so I asked for more. There was no one behind me and she talked fast and moved fast as if there were a crowd. Her fast movement caused her to drop food off the spoon. This bothered me! I don't like that there is an option for a tip when you go through 3 different people. Now, I'm starting this review off by letting you know I don't usually like salads. Salata has changed my whole perspective on this being as I've already gone 3 times this week. Lol When you walk in to the Park North location everyone is super friendly and ready to make you the freshest salad you could possibly get. All the ingredients seem as if they were just picked from a Garden! Their homemade dressings are all unique and delicious. I would recommend tasting a few samples before you decide and while you are going through the line they will pretty much let you sample anything you want. My favorite is the lemon vinaigrette. My second favorite thing besides the yummy salads are the soups! While I've yet to try the chipotle white bean, the broccoli and tomato soups are great! I usually ask them to add some cheese or croutons to my soups too. Park North has been my favorite location so far as the Quarry location seems to be a little stingy when adding ingredients to your salad. I would highly recommend salata if you are looking for a fresh cool salad on a hot summer day. I will probably be going back again next week :) read more

So...I have a beef with people and salads. I don't actually think people like salads unless they want to be healthy. My evidence is that no one ever looks happy just eating a salad. People argue with me about this but I know the truth. I was brought to Salata once before started trying to eat healthy and I was so miserable. Like I wanted to cry I wanted a cheeseburger so bad. Since then I've worked to eat better and Salata has helped. Since I'm not forced to eat a pre-created salad, I can pick what I like and still be healthy. Staff is friendly and even when busy they move through the line fairly quickly. I appreciate that the spicy chipotle ranch dressing is truly spicy. The kale and spinach is always fresh and I've never had a bad ingredient. I normally get the chicken but today I tried the krab (fake crab) and it was really good with a touch of sweetness with the spice of the dressing. It's a little more expensive than I like because many ingredients have an additional cost. I don't love that. As long as I'm trying to be healthy, I'll return. If I'm wanting to be besties with my diabetes, probably won't. You do good work, Salata! read more

Staff is very friendly. This place is like the subway of salads and wraps. The salads are fantastic. I'm torn between the fact that they don't skimp on toppings and the fact that they skimp on the actual salad. It's as though management has instructed the employees to only fill the bowl up halfway with salad, leaving way too much space leftover in the bowl and not enough toppings to fill that space. I am an airline pilot. By day three of a trip, I wander the concourses and hotels, searching in vain for vegetables. Something healthy. Something besides a $3 unripe banana. Today's work dropped me in San Antonio, and with the other choice being an overpriced hotel steakhouse, I looked on Yelp. Lo and behold! Salata, which I'd never heard of but after having tried, they deserve every 5-star review they've gotten. The nice young man figured out quickly it was my first time. "Would you like to try the dressing first, to make sure you like it?" Oh, sure, thank you! Yelpers, you weren't wrong--the herb vinaigrette is to die for. As are the multigrain croissants. I swear I added half the toppings into my large bowl (that is a LARGE bowl, order only if you want leftovers or are prone to making your at-home salads in a mixing bowl like me). The only reason I didn't go for all the toppings is that the only kind of fruit that belongs in a green salad are tomatoes (there was a large fruit selection too). The veggies were plentiful and fresh, yummy and hit the spot. The protein add-on is now $4, but the turkey was smoky and decent. My only minor complaint? Y'all are doing a great job with reusable salad bowls, but why not offer real silverware and washable soup bowls for the dine-in folks? It'd add to the eco-friendliness.
