One of my favorite places to eat, and they are mostly great. However, as their customer base has increased, they are not paying as much attention to cross-contamination. My daughter (10) and I both had the same salad and got incredibly ill 30 minutes after eating it. My husband did not because he did not eat what we did. Here is what I've noticed, the sanitary gloves. If they are wiping off counters with a dirty rag, then they need to change the gloves before putting our salads in to-go containers. New gloves if they are touching anything other than the salad bowl or salad. I know it gets rushed, but health of the customers is more important, and the simple switch will help. This is the first time that I've ever gotten sick here, I really tell everyone how great it is, so maybe this fix will prevent future occurrences.Change those gloves and change those cleaning rags. read more

I am so sad to make this review. Prior to COVID-19 we used to come here monthly. It used to be clean, quick and staff was always friendly. We came in for dinner today and the place smells like pee. The bathrooms are the culprit of the pee smell. The tables and floor were covered with food!! The leather on the booths are peeling off. Then the employees made a snarky comment, very loudly, about not getting enough tips. What is going on?! I am extremely disappointed. I am also noticing similar reviews as of lately. Amazing customer service! This was my very first visit and the manager and crew member had many recommendation for us. They even joked around a bit and had my girlfriend and I laughing. Okay, this place has gone downhill. Either you don't treat your staff right or you just hire the worse people. 6/3 at 830pm, we came to get salads, no greeting, the guy look at us like we were a nuisance to be there. I noticed the pink hair girl and the other braided hair girl cleaning up the containers and holders of the salad, I was expecting her to change her gloves right after because the rag she was using was disgusting but she didn't and asked me what I wanted with the same gloves. I wish I took a picture I told her to change her gloves as politely as I can because tbh this is basic sanitary procedure for food handling. You don't use your dirty gloves to serve food and all of them looked like they were wearing the same gloves. Please wash your hands and change your gloves whenever you touch different surface areas. This place is full of yum! I know, I know. You're like.....but its salad and soup. Big whoop. Who wants to eat rabbit food?! I tell you no lies when I say this is good food. You start out with a salad: pick your greens. You can have spinach, salata greens, and I think there's one more option. Then you can pick out a pretty assortment of veggies. You'll be able to eat all the important colors in one bowl. Now on to the chicken. My personal favorite is the spicy chipotle chicken but the herb grilled chicken and the asian bbq flavor are also good. I believe they charge $2 to add chicken to your salad. I've never added seafood but its an option for those who prefer it over chicken. They have a good variety of dressings as well. I usually go for the sun-dried tomato or balsamic vinaigrette dressing but I've heard ginger lime and chipotle ranch are good. They sell their dressings in bottles for anyone who wants to pick up some for home or work. I like that the line goes by quickly so its a good place to stop in for a quick lunch. No long prep time, which I guess makes sense. The chicken is already cooked so all they have to do is mix up all your chosen ingredients into one big bowl. I had no problem getting full from the bowl they served me. It was a generous portion. They don't give you a tiny plate with a couple of spinach leaves. Someone told me to go to Salata because it's like Chipotle but for Salads. I laughed in their face because... salads? Why would I go out of my way to get a salad for lunch when I can go get someone more filling elsewhere? It just doesn't make sense. But guys - I was soooo wrong! Salata is a wonderful unicorn and somehow it works and makes sense. Everyone should come here! Everyone!! The workers at Salata are crazy efficient. They do everything so seamlessly. It's a salad assembly line and they are very good at it. If you want to come at a peak time and you have never looked over their options before - do yourself a favor and look through them! I can't tell you how overwhelming all those dressing options were for me! I am a naturally indecisive person so it was a struggle. I just went with a flavor I normally liked and prayed it would make sense with the protein I picked. But honestly - if you didn't look beforehand, don't sweat it too much. Everything is very good. Why? Because it's so fresh! Just pick your favorites and it will be alright. For my first order I got the spring mix with a variety of different toppings I like. I got the ginger lime dressing which turned out to be my favorite. It's not too lime-y or ginger-y. The chipotle chicken is my favorite protein. It's so good (and not that spicy)! Your order comes with bread but honestly - I'm not impressed by the bread. It pales in comparison to the salad in a big way. And I normally love bread. I'm a total carb monster. But the salad IS that good. One of the features of the restaurant is the calorie posting at each of the little stations. So you know what each bit will cost your calorie-wise. You can order a variety of drinks too. Their plastic takeout containers are really cute and they serve the salads in these big silver bowls if you decide to eat in. At first it may seem like they're being stingy with the amount of each item they are putting in your bowl, but by time you're finished picking all of your ingredients, you'll think the amount of each is just right. It's a place where your salad toppings will greatly outnumber the amount of actual salad/lettuce by time it's built. My husband opted for the marinated chicken with chipotle ranch and I opted for no protein with fresh herb vinaigrette dressing. You go through a line and tell the server what lettuce (spring mix, kale, spinach, romaine) you want, pick ANY of about 30 toppings (veggies, fruit, lentils, egg) with no extra cost no matter how many you get. You can then pick one (or more) of the many delicious dressings, protein ($2 for chicken, $3 for turkey/seafood) that come in many flavors and a slice of bread that's included. Salata is awesome, and is one of my most common lunch spots these days. Although it's a little pricy for what you get, it's worth it because of how fresh everything always is!! I usually order the small salad because you can request as many veggies as you want, making it a filling meal (and you save $1 or $2 ordering the small rather than the larger portion). I'm usually tempted to spend the dollar I saved on adding avocado! Also, their fat free sun dried tomato dressing rocks my socks off. Must be the best fat free dressing I have ever tried. My major complaint is the bread. It is somehow always soggy and stale at the same time - and is never toasted enough (which a good toast would solve both of these issues!). We happened to be in the area hoping to go to Zoko, but found it closed. Within site is this establishment. I'm not a salad person and I must say this place is delicious. They have a great selection of items to choose. The staff made it easy for me to make good choices with their recommendations. It is set up like a buffet, where the staff places your selections in a bowl. Service was fast and proficient. They even let you taste the samples of meat prior to making a choice. It was a great touch! My favorite was the roasted turkey. With it I got spring mix greens, red beans, corn, mushrooms, feta cheese, pumpkin seeds, tomatoes, sesame sticks. I wasn't sure about dressing so I asked the girl helping me. She recommended mixing two dressings of chipotle ranch and regular ranch. It was fantastic! Best part is they don't overdress it. The prices were good. 7-8 dollars for a HUGE bowl. Add a couple dollars for meat. I am a hefty eater and I left stuffed. Tried this place out yesterday and really enjoyed it. The restaurant has a Subway/Chipotle layout where you go down the line and let the employees know which ingredients you would like. They put the whole sha-bang into a metal bowl where it is individually tossed with tongs. I really enjoyed the selection of veggies they had. To me the greens are the most important part of a salad and I was happy to see they had four types including a lettuce mix with green/red/Romanian lettuce, a spring mix with spinach, red lettuce, arugula as well as two other types. As for the veggie toppings they had a large variety such as broccoli, radish, peas, edamame, onion, bell pepper, and various types of beans. Next, you can add nuts and cheese and I was happy to see they had a good variety. Lastly, you select you dressing (I chose the herb vinaigrette) and was happy with the flavor it added. My only complaint was the protein section where I got the baked tofu which was $3 (I believe). It was honestly an awkwardly small amount (maybe 4-5 small chunks) and not worth $3. This aspect disappointed me but I have read other reviews and many cite the same small portions disappointment. I would like to see Salata increase their protein portion by at least 50% to ensure customers stay full long after they leave the restaurant. With that being said, I would give it another shot and In fact look forward to it. read more

I love Salata! A salad bar where you don't have to worry about people sneezing on your food or children sticking their hands in the croutons... it's amazing! Basically, it has a Chipotle type setup, where you point at what you want and employees add it. They fill your bowl, and everything is included in the price except protein and a few expensive add ons (like avocado). So pile it on! And unless you are training for a decathlon, get the small bowl. It's still huge. They have all the usual veggies and toppings, with the addition of healthier, trendier items, like kale, garbanzo beans, edamame (seasonal), artichoke hearts, etc. I used to be concerned about making sure everything "went together" but then I realized it all tasted good no matter what. If you like it, have them throw it in there! Their dressings are good, but if you're dieting, stick to one ladleful. I have to say I was really impressed the last time I went here. I took my parents, who had never been. My mom has a ton of food allergies, including canola oil, which is unfortunately in all their dressings. She told the employee she would just eat the salad dry, but when the manager overheard that, he went in the back and brought out little cups of olive oil and lemon juice for her to use as dressing! How nice is that! They even sliced fresh avocado to be sure it didn't touch another ingredient that she was allergic to. Talk about above and beyond! I would like to sincerely thank them for that. I had a mix of salata greens and spinach to start and added all kinds of toppings like cucumbers, bell peppers, green olives, red onions, mushrooms and green peppers. Topped it off with some delicious crabmeat and flavored with lemon vinaigrette dressing. I opted for a small salad which was just the right size for me! My lunch date had a chicken wrap that came with pita chips (wish they offered hummus as a side dip). Total with these two selections and 2 drinks from their teas/lemonades section was $22. Although it was a great meal my wallet doesn't allow me to make this a daily meal. My suggestion would be to offer a smaller salad and soup combo for about $6-$7. What a surprise how great Salata was! I came here on a lunch break with a co-worker and was pleasantly surprised how good this place was. For a city with not too many healthy options, Salata does a really great job providing a good salad with all of the options you could want! It took me forever to finally try this place, but I will definitely be back in a hurry. If you're craving a salad - this is the place to go. It's set up like any basic build-your-own serving line, and they offer different sizes as well. I ended up going for the smaller salad, but it really depends on what and how many toppings you choose to determine the actual size. It's unlimited toppings, and they have TONS! All the veggies, cheese, and other toppings you can imagine. They also have various choices for protein, including vegetarian/vegan options like tofu and quinoa. I wanted to get the salmon, but the serving size for the small salad portion just seemed a bit too small, so I went for the tofu. It was perfectly cooked and firm, which is how tofu should be! My only complaint is after visiting Doc Green's (pretty much the same concept) while I was back home, they offer a "chopped" version of their salads, so they basically run a fun little blade through your salad bowl before serving it to you. I think it makes eating salads a little easier, but anyway...this is apparently not an option here. My salad came out perfect, and the dressing I chose had a great flavor as well. I also got a small piece of bread (there are a few different options of this too) as a side, which I assume was included, so my total came out to $9 even. Not bad! read more

Maybe I was unfair with my stars because I am not the target market - here is what I like: simple ordering with set pricing and all the toppings you want; fresh ingredients (unlike other salad only places I know); good dressing; I like fast casual order at counter no waiter places; and very helpful friendly staff. Here is what I didn't like - first off it was too expensive for what you get. Mine was $10 and I got a wrap with chicken and artichokes. That didn't include a drink either. A bit more than I think it warranted. Also we went there because it is healthy and while it is healthier than Chinese food or a burger there was a lot more calories in the dressing than I thought. My co-worker turned me on to this place a few weeks ago. I try something new every time I go and I have never been disappointed. The line is often long but it is quick. At lunch time the seating is non-existent but I just get it to go and head back to my office. Everything but the obvious things are gluten free which is great for my husband. Salata is pretty much a salad version of Chipotle which is probably why it's so freakin' amazing. They have such a huge variety of salad greens, vegetables, beans, dressings you'll definitely find something that suits your needs. There are two options-- salad or wrap. I have yet to be disappointed in the freshness/quality of the food at the Salata chain's that I've been to. I never really "crave" a salad or wrap, but every time I go here, I'm always glad I did. Even though it is a bit pricey, I always leave full or feeling a very healthy satisfied. Like I said (and like it's been said), it's a bit pricey for a wrap/salad. I know it's fresh, but it doesn't feel like green choices should cost this much. I haven't tried this yet for my wrap options, but I know at Chipotle, if you ask for the bowl and then the tortilla separately, you get more for your buck. Let me know if you've tried this here and if it's worked out well for you! My other issue is the seating. I've been to this location during lunch hours, and understandably it's bit busy and a bit crowded. Though they keep the line moving decently, the seating set up doesn't seem like it's set up in the best possible way. This is probably a message more for upper management, but this is a hopping Salata location. If you want more customers coming in, I highly recommend getting the seating to arrange in a way that'll fit more of your customers. This has become my (at least) once a week lunch spot. Great if you are meeting a friend for lunch or eating solo - lots of table space without feeling over crowded. Their salad mixes are great plus all veggies are fresh all the time! I love picking and choosing all the different veggies especially ones I don't usually have at home (beets and radishes for example) and seriously if you decide to go on back to back days you can have something totally different. Home sweet home !! Now I don't have any excuse as to why I don't eat healthy. After reading all the reviews on this place I decided to give it a try . It was packed when I arrived . Freaking amazing. This was a new find for me. I'm vegan and often times it can be difficult to find places for lunch that are fresh and fast. What's great about Salata is the fact that everything is customizable. You get to select your ingredients from the beginning and don't have to worry about modifying a menu item that may or may not be allergen-friendly. The tofu was pretty bland when I tasted it by itself, but in a wrap it was chewy and meaty and a really great addition. I think the service was appropriate.
