The prices were very reasonable, the front counter staff okay and the place seemed busy; especially the drive thru and pick up orders. Formal Complaint Regarding Service at ANF Gyro - Winter Haven Location Dear ANF Gyro Customer Service, I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my recent experience at your Winter Haven location: 1050 6th St NW, Winter Haven, FL 33881. I placed a normal order for pickup, however, my issue began after I picked up my order. Time of order: Approximately 9:00 PM Fake manager name given: "Adam" Upon picking up my order, I noticed a gentleman outside who appeared to be homeless and was clearly looking for some food. Out of goodwill, I walked back into the store and informed the staff that I would like to buy this man a meal and a drink. Adam immediately told the man to leave, and subsequently told me that the man was "trespassed." When I asked if the police had been notified, Adam then turned to the man and said, "What do you want? Your usual?" Amazing how he's trespassed but you know his order. This was incredibly frustrating because it showed that Adam knew exactly what the man wanted, yet he chose to be dismissive instead of simply allowing me--a paying customer--to purchase food for him. Side note: I gave the man $20 outside, so technincally he WAS a paying customer. On a busy Friday night, rather than valuing customer service and a genuine act of kindness, Adam made it clear he did not want to deal with the situation. The behavior I encountered was unprofessional, unkind, and unacceptable. It reflects poorly not only on this employee but also on ANF Gyro's reputation for quality service. The icing on the cake was when "Adam" let me know on my way out "See you soon, brooooo." Sir, you've clearly never been disciplined by your father acting like that. Shame on you. I am requesting that this matter be promptly reviewed and addressed. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and provide me with information on the actions being taken. We ordered food that was not edible. The wings were fried extremely hard and crisp to the point that there was no meat on the bones. You would break your teeth trying to eat it. Being a Chicago native(the best food on the planet in my opinion), I was excited about getting a authentic gyro. I was highly disappointed! I am rather surprised since the name of the place is AnF GYROS and grill. The meat was over cooked and very bland. The pits bread wasn't grilled and very little taste on the whole gyro. ANF is one of the few places in the area where you can get a great Gyro right of the cooker. We drive from Davenport to get one. The owners used to work for Salems if you are familar with that chain and decided to open their own place and do a great job at it. Their fried food is excellent. I love the shrimp. Hand battered, it is just the right amount of batter, light and crispy. They have alot of other fried food like chicken wings which are excellent. The combos come with fries which are cooked to order and good and they also just added another choice for a side..rice and beans which is good as well. I was asked if I was ready to order I explained I wasn't ready, that I was waiting on one more person to join me. 2 minutes later I was asked again, and this happened until my other person joined. Came here and they were just rude to both me and my friend. It was our first time and we said we had 2 separate orders and they took one and just left us sitting there for the second, and when we said hello they said "what do you want?" Once we ordered he told us we couldn't get burgers or hot sandwiches cause he already turned the grill off. As we pulled up to the window the lady asked us what we ordered. I have been walking and driving by this place for a while and always seemed to miss it until recently, when one of my kids pointed it out to me. I was a bit apprehensive because I am an early lunch eater (around 10 A.M.) and the parking always was empty when I traveled by. After eating Wendy's till I got sick of it I decided to bite the bullet and stop in. I am glad that I did. The employees were both friendly and well tempered (I asked a lot of questions about the food choices) and they answered with a smile. One of the first questions I asked was, "Are drink refills free?", they are, but, they are refilled by an employee behind the counter, which I don't mind. The food was a bit pricier than I usually spend (I'm a cheapskate), but, not for the quality, quantity, and type of food you get there. I paid $6.99 +tax for a Cuban sandwich, fries, and a drink vs. the $4.50+tax I spend for a value burger, value drink, and value fries at Wendy's. Since I arrived there right at opening time, 10AM they needed a few minutes to get the kitchen up and running, so they recommended I take a seat at a table till my food was ready. As I waited I noticed the dining area was small, but, extremely clean and tidy. I used the washroom to clean my hands and the washroom was small but, immaculately clean. I was able to pick up complimentary Brighthouse Internet service (I am a subscriber), but, I did not see a wifi service listed for the business. I don't know if it is available but, I didn't pick it up. When the food arrived at my table, my first impression was amazement at the sheer size of the Cuban Sandwich and the heavy portion of fries that I received. My son who was with me ordered the 1/2lb Chicken strips, fries, and drink which were only $5.99 +tax, and like my own meal his portions were huge. I proceeded to dig into the Cuban and it was delicious. They use several types of meat, a dressing, and fresh veggies stuffed in a toasted flat bread, that combine to create a complex savory flavor. The fries were salted, but, not overly so. The fries had a "fresh" flavor that tasted like they were sliced and fried on demand. My son told me the chicken strips combined with the Buffalo sauce were better than any chicken strips he could remember eating. We were both stuffed by the time we left the restaurant with free refill in hand, and I can honestly say that I plan on returning as frequently as my budget allows. As a note: Their menu has quite a few items on it, like craw fish, calamari, shrimp, that I am eager to try out. read more
