Did it take out for Gus's barbecue. The mac & cheese is out of this world and so is the sausage and all the sauces. Just absolutely delicious. That's all I had but it's really just absolutely amazing food just spectacular prices are just crazy. You recommend you come here. The prices are just fantastic just like the food.

Gus's Hot Wings - southern honey chili crisp

Wanted to check out Gus for a while now and knew we had to start with that cast iron cornbread. It comes with a side of jalapeno jelly and honey butter. It's a litttle on the dry side but another some honey on there and all set. Honey butter never disappoints. The bowl of smokehouse chili is very filling and loaded which chunks of brisket. It was a hearty flavorful bowl and for $9.95 solid choice. We tried the southern honey chili crisp hot wings. Good sized wings but I like them a little more well done. The sauce was really good too but didn't really stick to the wings. Ordered the picnic platter which lets you choose a couple things to try. We went with brick chicken, Memphis BB back ribs, and brisket. Plate also comes with your choice of two sides. Ribs were tender and brisket was a little dry. There are a couple bbq sauce options on your table and spicy vinegar hot sauce to jazz up your plate. Carolina gold sauce has a nice mustardy taste to it so if you like mustard this is your jam! Didn't get dessert but that butter cake looks noteworthy. Our server , I believe her name was Melina, was super sweet and gave great service!

Food was good. Many options to choose from and their sides esp the creamed corn was good! The sausage links were also delicious. We had a reservation for 14 made on Father's Day. So I understand it's busy and exhausting but I feel like many things fell through. Our reservation was for 630 and did not get seated till past 7. We had a toddler in the group and it was pretty crucial to get an early time so the child wouldn't get too tired and wired. For whatever reason they sat us and that too at two separate tables which is not so bad. At least we were next to each other. The menu did not seem so clear so one in our party realized there was peanut in the sauce for the wings. It may be on the menu but there are restaurants who prioritize asking about allergies regardless when they take the order. So wish they had. That in itself makes customers feel good and confident about being there. I'm sure being a day of celebration made it hard but hoping for better experience in the future

To update from my last review I got to talk to the management and they were so professional and polite really changed the mood. Decided to celebrate my partner here during our movie marathon! This time around we had our server check in with us throughout the meal! Constantly filling our waters and seeing if we needed anything else. The food came out hot! I been trying out all the local happy hour deals to see the best value. I will say I got full from the two brisket sliders. My partner loves the brick chicken here! Says she dreams about it! Really made her happy to eat here! I love the interior you definitely feel transported to a different part of America!

Wanted some greens and cornbread so I know where I can get some when my mom does not make it. We had greens, cornbread and chicken wings. Everything was made fresh and hot full of goodness. Our waiter, Riley was phenomenal. He was so personable, kind, funny, attentive, and professional. He made our time during our dining very pleasant. Nice atmosphere with refreshing light and televisions to watch soccer game.

Was extremely impressed during my first visit to Gus's BBQ in Porter Ranch! The food and service were excellent. Basically every employee we interacted with was attentive, friendly, and greeted my mom and I with a smile. Our waiter, Fredi, walked us through the menu since it was our first time visiting and truly provided the best experience for us. The restaurant has a great vibe and was very clean, spacious, and modern. The theming is spot on, and I loved the space as a whole. The food was absolutely fantastic, the deviled eggs were a highlight. The blackened Cajun catfish sandwich was unique and flavorful, and the french fries were out of this world. Honestly, all of the sides were incredible! This is officially my new favorite Caesar salad in the Valley: so fresh with really unique flavors. Fredi also kindly offered to split the salad into two plates for us since we were sharing, which was much appreciated. Before being seated, we had an interaction that left us feeling a little uncomfortable. While waiting by the host stand, manager Ashley was repeatedly calling out "table for Maria" while looking directly at my mom and I and motioning toward us. After she said it a few times we indicated that we were not that party, and she appeared surprised. It may have been unintentional, but since we are Latinas, the assumption felt a bit off putting and left a strange impression at the start of our visit. Besides that, the night ended on the sweetest note because Fredi brought out a sundae for my mom to celebrate Mothers Day. He is such an amazing waiter & we hope to come back soon!

Ordered Ribs and 2 meat combo, 10 oz Texas Prime Beef Brisket, 2 Mac N' Cheese, and 2 Roasted Garlic Mashed potatoes from Gus's Barbecue. This was a delivery so, I didn't observed the ambiance. The food was appetizing , speedy delivery , the food was kept hot.

Came here to celebrate my son's 22nd birthday and wasn't disappointed! The food was incredible and the service was even better. We ordered the cornbread, fried chicken, tri-tip, and spare ribs, and every single dish was delicious. Beyond the meal, our server, Brian H., really made the night special. I had brought a cake for the occasion, and Brian took care of everything--he brought it out, provided the candles, and helped us sing Happy Birthday. It was a fantastic experience, and I'm so glad my son and his friends had such a great time. Huge thanks to Brian!!!

We recently visited Gus's in Porter Ranch and unfortunately had a really disappointing experience with the food. The brisket was, without exaggeration, the worst I've had -- dry, lacking flavor, and just not enjoyable. We also ordered the shrimp and grits, but ended up sending it back. The sauce had a very overpowering sausage flavor that completely took over the dish. It didn't taste like shrimp and grits at all, just heavily seasoned sausage, and it wasn't balanced. The gumbo was great tho! I do want to acknowledge that the manager Lisanne handled the situation really well and was kind and accommodating, which we appreciated. That said, the quality of the food was enough that we likely won't be returning.

I popped in to meet some friends, catch a Lakers playoff game in Gus's bar area and get some delicious BBQ. I went with BBQ Brick Chicken entree with a side of creamy mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. The meal was just outstanding- the chicken was beautifully roasted in barbecue sauce, had a slightly crispy, charred outer coating, with the inside being very juicy, tender, with a perfect amount of herbs. The sides of mashed potatoes and mac and cheese were very flavorful, with mashed potatoes having creamy texture and mac and cheese being so yummy and probably one of the best I've ever had. Just a phenomenal meal in an awesome neighborhood bbq spot. The customer service was friendly and attentive and the spot itself has a lot of comfortable seating, from comfy booths, to convenient and spacious bar area and to their good size outside patio overlooking the center of the Vinyards Plaza. I will definitely be back!

I visited Gus's BBQ for dinner just before going to the AMC next door. We had a reservation, which I'm glad we did because it seemed pretty busy on a Friday night. We were seated right away. I really liked the modern decor and casual ambiance of the restaurant. Service was prompt and our server was very friendly and personable. Drinks came out quickly. Appetizer was almost instant. We tried the cornbread with honey butter and jalapeño jam. Delicious! Though the cornbread was a tad dry. We shared a picnic platter with Memphis ribs, bbq chicken, and brisket. Everything else was flavorful and delicious. The brisket was good but a little disappointingly dry. The mac and cheese side was delicious. The jalapeno grits were bland. I would have added some cheese and a sprinkle of chive on top for a more appealing appearance. They just looked like slop. My favorite item was the bbq chicken. I'll definitely just get that next time. We ordered the butter sheet cake for dessert and it was amazing! So moist and buttery, and topped with the caramel or toffee ice cream. A must try! Overall, I enjoyed Gus's and would definitely return.

Gus's Barbecue, is another of those enticing restaurants at the Porter Ranch Vineyards. You would think that when you visit here, one should generally go for barbecued meats. However, they also have a Southern Kitchen section on the menu and what is attractive here, is the catfish and chips. Yes, it's different. Furthermore, it is deep fried with a seasoned cornmeal batter. It comes out gorgeously crisp, crunchy and browned on the outside, maintaining moisture on the inside. Instead of french fries I asked for the mashed potatoes. The entree also comes with tartar sauce, which is different, pinkish in color and spiced up. Also coleslaw. The fish was a treat. Well prepared and it combined seamlessly, with the other additions on the plate. Another delightful dinner, at the Vineyards.

I had lunch here to meet a friend & it didn't disappoint us. huge food portion, attentive staff, not too crowded ambience & lots of parking. not to mention amc theater & shopping areas nearby. It's a win spot not only for friends meet up but family bonding as well. will reconsider to comeback, Thanks, Gus' bbq!

Ask the Community - Gus's BBQ

My wife and I wanted to come in but after calling the restaurant and them telling my wife that they can't or won't do anything to accommodate my wife's peanut allergy we will not be dining there?

So, that doesn't seem to be question. As for your wife's allergy, I've never been to this place. But restaurants are not required to "accommodate" allergies. They have the right to say, "very sorry".

Hi! Is your restaurant pet friendly?

They have an outdoor patio area where you can bring your pets.

Can you make reservations for 6 people?

Yes, it's a fairly large space with a separate bar area too.

Do they serve breakfast now? I saw a menu posted saying coming soon.

We are serving breakfast from 830am - 2pm Saturday and Sunday each week. Hope to see you soon

Are there plans to re-open the grass area for dining?

We saw people on the grass a month ago .

Do you guys have the TVs on?

    Just at the bar area

Do you still have happy hours at Porter Ranch Location? If yes, what time? Both Indoor and Outdoor dining open?

Hi Elizabeth, Yes, we offer both outdoor dining and limited indoor dining. We currently are not offering happy hour, but we will be bringing it back very soon! You can follow…

So there's no prices on the menu, does that mean it's eXpEnSiVe??😳😳

Moderate pricing. Combo dinners with 3 meats and 2 sides about $27.00. Plenty of food, usually some to take home!

Is there Western Carolina Vinegar based BBQ sauce as an option?

Yes! We have a Caroline Mustard BBQ as well as a vinegar BBQ sauce--both so delicious (in our opinion).

I normally love to do stuff like picnics at the park or grilling at the beach, but since I have such a damaged, boring, broken, devided and dysfunctional family, my son and I just decided to come have lunch together. Turns out we were overly dressed for such a casual spot. Established in 1996, this place is clean and average sized. We walked in around 3:30pm on Saturday. There are plenty of tables available for dine-in, or you can place a to-go order as many people were doing. We saw so many people come in to pick up their orders while we were eating. They offer various BBQ options such as pork ribs, beef ribs, tri-tip, and chicken. They even have different combo packages for groups of 2-20, and even more if you wanted to do catering. The prices are very affordable and the portions are generous. Ashley took our order and Iris brought it out to our table. They were both pleasant and helpful. The customer service was great. My son and I both opted for the BBQ Pork Rib lunch special, which comes with a Half Rack of Ribs, 1 dinner roll, and 1 side ($12.95). I got mine with Spanish rice and an additional side of coleslaw (+$2.95). My son chose a garden salad as his side and we also got a medium fountain drink to share ($2.60). Our entire total with tip came out to $39.23. A great deal! We even got an extra rib on our rack, which was a nice surprise. The ribs were not too saucy and not too greasy, just how I like it. They have self-serve station of bottles of extra BBQ sauce (regular and spicy) if you want more. There are also condiment packets like ketchup, mustard, etc...The meat itself was tender and flavorful, and I liked both of my sides. They were a bit small, but altogether a pretty hefty and mighty meal. The temperature of the food was not hot and lukewarm at best. They have one very clean bathroom with all the essentials fully stocked in there. They also have a parking lot with ample amount of spots. There was a TV playing the World Cup way too loud and it was really annoying and distracting. We had a good enough experience here, but I don't think I'll return. Also, they had ran out of wet naps, which is unfortunate for a BBQ restaurant on the 4th of July. They also don't have any dessert/coffee, which I think would be great to have here! I also noticed they put up their "closed" signs on the doors at 4:30, 30 minutes before their closing time. Thanks for a good lunch, but for me, nothing will beat Tony Roma's for the best ribs ever!

They have an assortment of raw meats that you get to choose from and they cook it as you order it. That means you'll wait 15-20 minutes but the food here is worth the wait. I ordered the chicken breast plate with a side of garlic sauce. The chicken breast was juicy and tender. The garlic sauce on the side is a MUST. I also asked for some slices of lime/lemon on the side and they were generous enough to put some in my bag. The people working there were warm and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone in the area :) Im removing one star because my portion of chicken breast was a bit small compared to what I'm seeing in the photos from other yelpers.

It is with sadness that I once loved this place but no more. Been here half dozen times and always…read moreleft happy. But I Stopped in for lunch today and the service was not horrible. It was virtually nonexistent. Btw I was one of two tables seated and not a takeout order came in the entire time I was here. First with the good. The main course was spicy pork. Tasted good and on its own would merit a 4 star review. The banchan was below mediocre at best. I always order refill of kimchi but couldn't even eat the paltry amount put before me. It tasted like it was marinated in ketchup and not fermented. Despite requesting it, my ice water came without ice, water or a glass. I would be a little bit more understanding if the waitress was running around, but literally after taking my order she went to another table and sat down. Waitress then brought me the wrong order!!! How is that even possible when there was only one other table. Thinking it was my spicy pork I put my chopstick in (which I had already used for the banchan) when she actually returned to my table and took it from me and said that was spicy chicken and gave it to the other table.

Location 4 stars: Northeast corner of Roscoe and Topanga Canyon Boulevards in Canoga Park,…read moreCalifornia. Plenty of free self-parking. Venue 3 stars: Unpretentious, basic mom and pop shop. Indoor tables and booths and takeout. No outdoor seating. Tables can be tight and cramped for the huge plates and the many side dishes typical to Korean comfort food. Billing 1 stars: I was disappointed that on the check they recommend the tip amount based on the total after tax, which is not correct. Tipping is customarily calculated based on the total before tax. Some restaurants have attempted doing this recently which I find misleading and I will be calling them out on it. I have posted a picture of the check. Now, this may have been done by the terminal vendor and not the restaurant management but nevertheless I would recommend that the restaurant addresses this to avoid having confused and unhappy customers. Service 3 stars: Again, unpretentious and basic but efficient. Food 5 stars: Korean comfort food, using the recipes from "the real" Grandma Kim. I have been coming to Grandma Kim's for many many years now. I was sad to see that during and after COVID their food quality had dropped noticeably. I am glad to report that THEY ARE BACK! During my last visit the food was excellent! My favorites are the savory pancakes (Seafood, Kimchi, etc.), the Korean Ramens, and the Spicy Pork Bulgogi. Drinks 4 stars: Bottled Beer, Korean Soju and soft drinks. The Bottom Line 3.5 stars: Great destination for Korean comfort food in a comfortable setting. I do humbly recommend that they correct their tipping recommendation ASAP to avoid confusing their loyal customers (see above). Otherwise, highly recommended!
