First of all I don't write many reviews however because of the amazing job performed by Salinas Construction and Landscaping, I felt I had to write this one. Salinas C and L had been our gardeners for over 10 years and had always done a pristine job on our front and backyards. After deciding on a backyard transformation, we were very meticulously picky on who was going to perform the upgrades. After many months of researching and asking questions with other companie, we spoke with Hugo and Pedro from Salinas Construction and Landscaping and decided to go with them because of their professionalism, courtesy and many decades of landscaping knowledge. They got involved with the design of the backyard project and after completion, we were amazed on the cleanliness and professional looking hardscape they had accomplished! They installed synthetic turf, repaired all drainage systems, replaced existing water system into a drip system, installed decorative gravel, landscape lighting, pavers, California native plants and also painted and repaired the mow stripping. ( see photos ). After the amazing job performed by them, we decided to hire them for the front yard. My wife and l are extremely satisfied and are in awe with the amazing job performed by Salinas Construction. They turned our front yard into a beautiful and professional transformation with synthetic turf, decorative gravel, succulent plants, replaced drainage, replaced water sprinkler system into a drip system, added professional lighting system, they even did welding and constructed a gorgeous looking gate to our backyard. I needed a revamping of my backyard and called Salinas Landscaping. Saul came out and provided a very fair estimate and some of the best ideas I've heard for my small backyard. His sense of balance and scale are spot on. We needed not only planting material but lighting and irrigation as well, Saul handled all of that with professionalism and expertise. My irrigation needs were unusual since I just erected a vertical plant wall and we needed to add another line and bring the drip system up the trellis to reach the top of the plant wall. Last week (June 2020), Hugo and his team did an excellent job in rerouting my landscape plumbing for flowers, added new lines, fixed several sprinkler heads, reprogramed my sprinkler system and other valve/plumbing. His team removed all the old grass and added new sod. See images below. It should be noted that before Hugo started work, he drove to my house on the weekend and spent about 20-30 min making measurements, testing my sprinkler system, pressure, coverage etc.. This is one of the reasons why I hired him. Bottom line: Hugo and his Salinas team were on-time, on budget, honest, hardworking and got the job done. The sprinkler system works great, the lawn is perfect with no issues. Hugo and his team are based in Anaheim area, but traveled to northern LA/Pasadena area to work on my house. So if you're contemplating who to hire, I would highlighly recommend these guys. They are professional landscapers that care about the work they do for your landscaping job. So my advise is to stop waisting your time randomly looking at other Yelp reviews and call Salinas Construction and Landscaping. THEY DID AN AMAZING JOB for me in the Highland Park area. Do not trust this guy. Promised that there is a 3 month warranty on his work but once he is done and has his money, he avoids your calls. Sprinkler system had multiple leaks, joints on pipes keeps coming off. New sod that was put in had multiple dead areas. When I finally got a hold of him, he said he'll come and replace it but was a no show on the day of the appointment and started to ignore my calls. The gal seemed nice on the phone and set an appointment for Pedro to come out to my place and come up with an estimate for some work on my back patio. Even though I reminded Pedro via text of our appointment and even sent another reminder on the day we were to met. Pedro didn't show up to the appointment. I texted and even called after waiting for 15 mins late. No return call or text to reschedule happened. Honestly, I don't enjoy writing these sort of reviews even more do I not enjoy wasting my time. We decided to go with another company for financial reasons at the time, but I always remember the first good impression. Contacted them a year later with interest to do another project, they responded right away to schedule a time. When that time came, they didn't show. Gave them another opportunity to schedule, and once again, they didn't show or respond. Gave them from April to August to follow up or give me some sort of proper response. Nothing. They were fine upon first impression, but digging deeper, it's clear they have a lot to work on with their communication and taking potential clients seriously. If they were to follow up, they may have gotten my business for a large front and back yard. However, if this is the communication with ME reaching out to THEM trying to get the project even STARTED? It was more expensive than I expected so I only did the sprinklers in the front yard. REGRETTTT! Four weeks of hand watering the backyard and I'm over it! I've had all sorts of problems from leveling the yard to weeds to how-much-do-i-water-this? to what-are-these-spots? and Saul has helped me out with all of it. I'm sure anyone who is reading this would agree that it's really hard finding someone you could really trust and depend on for small and big jobs around the house. I've hired so many people in the past to do projects and each time, I've had one or two negative experiences. We interviewed 4 companies and if you asked me why I went with Pedro and his brothers, I would have to say instinct, and I'm glad we did. He didn't come in with the cheapest bid, but his estimate wasn't unreasonable either. In fact, it was fair and well aligned with what he had envisioned and mapped out with his plans for my yard. We chose his company for a lot of reasons- we could tell right off he was very experienced, knowledgeable and gave out really good advice. But I think what stood out the most, is his honesty, his easy to talk to demeanor and his genuine love for his craft. Whatever problems arose (which happens in any construction) he never bothered us for it or never added cost like some companies have done in the past. They're just good people; what family owned businesses should model to be. It's 3 brothers and the same people all the time coming to the house, which i appreciate bc I always felt safe. Strangers always make me a lil uneasy, so having the same familiar faces helped. Everyday they worked, I noticed and appreciated the little and big things like how they never hurried to finish or cut corners as they were always examining everything they did. I love that they didn't let projects sit as I hate the messy parts of any construction. They came when they said they would come. They did our entire front yard- masonry/concrete, sprinklers, lighting, digging up big tree and planting our new plants. We were extremely satisfied that we decided to trust them with another big project in our backyard- replacing damage cement near the pool and digging up the tree that caused the damage. It is really a relief to finally find a company that we can depend on to do repairs and home improvement.
