One of the best selections of seafood in town, and with a more varied & interesting menu than in the restaurant's previous iteration (of Doc's Marina Cafe). We have eaten there twice since the changeover, once for dinner inside, and once for lunch out on the deck. We enjoyed our meal and the service both times. Wednesday evening dinner @ 5:30 pm, summer. We did not have a reservation and waited about 15 minutes for the 2 of us to be seated. The restaurant was full. We sat in the main room against the wall by 2 windows. The other options were outside, at the limited counter bar, and some other back room. The salmon was slightly too dry for both of our plates. The biggest issue was the noise. There are no sound buffers. For inside dining, it is one large room. There were 2 large loud groups near by, and then near the end of our meal, a screaming- really screaming 4 year old. The parents tolerated their daughter playing/ messing with the blinds; oh at least she was not screaming. I do not recommend this restaurant unless you are the family with the screaming 4 year old. This place is best if you want to sit outside and meet up with some boat folks. The view is mostly of camper vans. It feels like we were sitting in the middle of a parking lot. 2 dinners; one drink each= $160. Never again. A better option is Quench, near the ferry; or Sirens, a classic mid-town consistent option with a great water view. read more

Had the Fixe Prix many of golden beet salad with arugula, feta and apple, Steak Diane with purple potato puree, and apple tres leches cake for dessert. Very impressed. Steak was cooked perfectly and amazingly tender considering it was New York which is usually tough. We had stopped going before they changed from Doc's to Salish Grill because quality was going down hill. Glad to see they have improved quality and we will definable be back. read more

Really wanted to like this place but it went wrong at the front door. The hosts was abrupt and rude to my party. We weren't sure if we wanted to eat inside or outside and that seemed to irritate the hostess. Once we decided to eat outside she abrptly and condesendingly said, "is that you're final decision?" Did she thunk this was Deal or No Deal? I would have left right there but others were willing to give a second chance. The food was reheated Costco. They add 3% Service Charge. Went for late lunch, no trouble getting a table without a reservation. Clam chowder was delicious, the risotto was tasty too. Fish and chips were nothing to shout about. Our Easter lunch visit left much to be desired. Service was friendly and casual. We spent 1 3/4 hours there. That was about 1/2 hour more than we wanted or needed. We asked for take out of soup at the time we ordered our meals. We told our server that we were on a schedule. Nonetheless, it took an exorbitant amount of time even after we paid our bill to get the soup. As a result, we were 1/2 hour late to our appointment. Food gets no stars or maybe one. Can you imagine a burned English muffin with watery hollandaise sauce at a supposedly decent restaurant? That's what we got! Plus, the prices weren't appropriate. Wow! This was a fantastic meal. Probably the best gluten free clam chowder ( better than on the Cape!). We shared the Gravlox appetizer. I had the salmon. Incredible. Hubby had the fish and chips. The location is stellar, out on the Point Hudson Marina tip. All else is mediocre except for the pricing, which is very high. Waitstaff seemed disinterested and I had to flag down my server more than once. Food is ok but that's about it. Probably bought from Costco. Beer prices are the highest in Port Townsend. Great atmosphere, food and service, not to mention the harbor view and view of the straights! I had the Prime Rib and Cheddar and my wife had the 2 piece Fish and Chips. The prime rib sandwich came with creamed horseradish and au jus. I prefer non-creamed horseradish, because I like hot and spicy food, but it was ok. The sandwich itself was packed with meat and juicy. I loved the thick sourdough bread it was on. I proceeded to make a mess of my face but, who cares when you're enjoying your food lol. My wife's fish and chips were great for her, as she likes panko breading (I'm a beer batter guy). Nice and crisp with moist flaky cod!! Fries were great. Her coleslaw was tasty for her. She doesn't like it with too much mayo and it was perfect! Washed down with a Blue moon for her and Port Townsend Stout for me. Finished up the meal sharing a delicious creme brule. We popped in there for lunch recently. I set the bar low because waterfront fish restaurants are either great or a bust. I was pleasantly surprised that this restaurant falls into the great category. The inside was spotless and did not smell like frying oil that was last changed when Jimmy Carter was president. The food was delicious and the serving size was generous. Our waiter was engaging, knew the menu like the back of his hand and did an excellent job of being attentive but not annoying. If you are ever in the area and would like a generous meal at a reasonable price you should swing by, you can't go wrong. read more

The She-Crab Soup is no longer available. This is so sad, but they told me it was because the cost of crab has gone so high. This was the reason I used to go to Doc's in PT! It was amazing. The food is generally okay (other than as stated above). The servers are nice but a bit slow. The indoor part of the restaurant can get a little noisy, especially if there are a lot of children in the room. Today we stopped in after a hike and had one of the most delicious dinners we have had in a while! We can't stop talking about it. We ordered steamer clams to begin with and they were cooked perfectly in a buttery rich delicious broth with some crunchy grilled bread on the side . Both were done perfectly! We had the grilled rockfish, Yukon gold smashed potatoes and arugula salad. They were all seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection! We were in love with every last bite. I wanted to lick the plate. Our service was so sweet, warm, friendly, and efficient. The restaurant itself is clean and parking is easy. Why does it lose a star? Prices are very high for the portion sizes. I have noticed that the menu prices have been raised numerous times over the past 3-4 years . I get that some increases are necessary to keep up with inflation but it seems overly done now. This would be a frequent place to eat out but the prices will make this restaurant just a special occasion restaurant. All told, highly recommend, just be prepared for the bill. read more

First, we absolutely loved the location. The restaurant was a stones throw from the water. After dinner we were able to walk down to the beach. It was beautiful. The food was delicious. We started with the crab cakes. They were perfectly done and were so good. I had the fish and chips and they were the best I have ever had. My wife had the salmon and it was good as well. Super awesome location in port Townsend. We needed a quick snack before dinner, and stopped by here. Husband ordered the fish and chips. I love that their fried fish was sustainable cod. Potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. 3 pieces of fish had an incredible batter. I could eat these without tartar or ketchup. But it gets better, the tartar sauce was amazing, I'm not sure what their secret ingredients were but I wanted more! They also included a cup of coleslaw, and usually I cannot stand to eat it because it's always runny or too doused in mayo. But theirs was so flavorful and had the crisp and crunch I was needing. Just finished a trip from Anacortes to the Olympic peninsula and stopped in Port Townsend for lunch both when arriving and departing on the ferry. Lunch on arrival was great - clam chowder and fish and chips (loved the spicy cocktail sauce), but our lunch on departure was exceptional. The smoked Salmon Chowder was one of the best chowders I have ever had. A definite 10! A big thank you to the server who recommended it. Not a fancy place but we had great service and wonderful food. It was our family day trip day we stopped at a park I. Squirm to play in the sun and found this place via google maps as it was on our way to a second park in port Townsend just a few blocks up the road from Doc's Marina Grill. We chose docs because my daughter wanted clams and mussels for lunch. Clams and mussels 4/5: super tender and exactly what you expect out of a good bowl of mussels and clams. The wine sauce was a little mild in flavor then what my daughter expected or us she ended up dipping them into a cioppino broth. Cioppino, 4/5: salmon, cod, calamari, the clams and mussels all perfectly cooked super fresh tasting. The fennel tomato broth was mild on Spiciness. So if you don't like spicy food you can also enjoy this dish. The broth was complex you could taste the fennel, bell pepper, tomato's was delicious and first time in a long time I've been able to have an awesome bowl of cioppino. Love how they don't over complicate it with adding pasta just an awesome seafood stew. Herb pasta add salmon 3/5: everything was cooked perfectly the salmon portion was 8.00. The pasta was good but just lacking a little in flavor and something to give it more. My husband said it was good but he would not reorder the dish again and just try something else and hope it's as killer as the cioppino that I ordered. I definitely do not think you can go wrong here everything is solid. But if you love seafood you'll love the cioppino. The ambiance is incredible as it's right on the water and I think you can see it from anywhere in the restaurant. Our service from our server was awesome he was so polite and attentive. We will plan to go back in a few weeks when we are in town for Easter weekend. read more

$500 (bill for 6) for cardboard, rotten "Copper River" salmon. Far from anything resembling "wild" or "fresh" as stated on the menu. Sent 2 of 4 servings back. Replacements just as bad. Copper River fish are renowned for tenderness, high fat content and taste. Their flesh -properly prepared- is succulent, rivaling the best prime rib. What we were served wasn't Copper River. Instead it was some other salmon that had been frozen for _at least_ a year and then grossly overcooked (or maybe precooked, then frozen and then microwaved?). It was tough, dry, tasteless. A poor showing especially during Copper River season and especially in a restaurant so close to the source. Any restaurant that can't properly prep and serve it's signature dish is one that needs to close down. read more

Food - the Doc's burger was moist and the bun was brioche, the fries were crispy, yet pillowy soft inside, the French onion soup was terrible. The chef serves it with a ciabatta crouton on top that turns into mash and absorbs the majority of the soup. I asked the waiter if the restaurants stocks, crispy French bread, and the answer was no. Went yesterday and it was the worst meal. Had the wedge salad and the canned shrimp on top were rotten. Could smell it the second they put it on the table. I sent that back and got the roast beef and cheddar sandwich but a good portion of the beef was completely raw and all of it was gristly. Another person had the potato leek soup but couldn't eat it. It was thick and tasted awful. Neither kid at our table liked their meal which came off the kids menu. The only thing that was good was the fries and 3 glasses of wine for the table and the tab was over $150. read more

I generally don't like to give a business a poor rating. I was very disappointed in our meal at Doc's Marina Grill. Here is an accurate summary of why: 1. Calamari - All breading and hardly any Squid. - Terrible for $16 2. Prime Rib & Chedder sandwich lots of fat and small portion of meat - $25 3. Mussels & Clams were smasll portion and 2 small pieces of bread? Had to pay for extra bread - Total was $29 4. Big Doc Burger - Small burger $18 On top of this diappointing meal they charged us a 3% Service fee?? I still tipped 20% on our ridiculous diappointing $197 bill because I care about servers and feel they should be taken care of no matter how bad the food is. read more

They got a great location down at the marina, good amount of parking and a nice big outdoor patio and bright indoor seating. Service was also very quick and friendly. The food was the letdown, the clam chowder had 2 small pieces of clam, the rest was filler carrots, potatoes and celery, very disappointing. The fish and chips were ok, but didn't seem freshly battered. The tacos had canned junks of pineapple and they were super spicy, so it lost the taste of the blackened fish. There were also tons of mosquitoes inside the restaurant that kept on attacking us, just not the experience we were hoping for for dinner. read more

Went to the restaurant for a late Monday lunch. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated within 15 minutes. My wife and I both tried the clam chowder and it was fantastic. Very creamy and full of nice, soft chunks of clams As the main course my wife got the Pulled Pork Sandwich and I got the Tempura Prawns and chips. Both dishes came out quickly and we're delicious. Nice location especially seat outside when you go there in a nice warm day. Facing the ocean and a wide open view, definitely made your food taste better. We parked our RV 30 feet from the outdoor patio. We get to see how busy this restaurant every night. Locals said this is the place to try if you like seafood, so we did. My wife ordered the clam chowder. Little bit on the salty side. The calamari is pretty good. Ahi tuna tacos app is also pretty refreshing. For entrees, I ordered the Moroccan rock fish, well balanced seasoning. The cioppino has a lot of seafood, nice bold flavor. To finish the evening properly, we order a banana bread puddling with some rum and a creme brûlée. Both desserts are above and beyond. If you are in town, you want to stop at this place. read more
