We love our date nights at Sally O's, and once again, our dining experience was fantastic! We've been here many times before, and we're sure we'll continue to return. It's our favorite local spot for unique, delicious, and beautifully presented food. The restaurant is wonderfully decorated for Christmas, and we loved the festive atmosphere. Since the space is on the smaller side, I highly recommend making reservations--even on weekdays. Our waitress was lovely--kind, attentive, and helpful throughout the meal. I started with the seasonal Froasty the Snowman frozen cocktail, which was refreshing and festive. For appetizers, we shared the Caesar salad, which had an incredible flavor. My partner always orders the Not Nashville Chicken Sandwich, and it's always a hit. The buffalo hot flavor is perfect for anyone who loves a little kick! I tried the blackened MD Blue Catfish, which had a very strong pepper flavor from the blackening that I didn't quite enjoy. I probably wouldn't order it again, but the butternut squash "risotto" with shaved Brussels sprouts and candied walnuts that came with it was absolutely delicious. We were here like 3 days ago and we're back againthat should tell you the caliber of this place We sat outside this time. They have heaters at each table so it wasn't cold. There's not much lighting outside though. This time they paired our focaccia with whipped honey ricotta. Individually they were nice but the pair wad weird. The bread itself is very herby and the sweetness of the ricotta was strange with that. I'd say 3.5/5 for the combo. Cocktails: Star Tropics: 3.5/5. Tasty. Not too sweet. Offseason: 4/5. Heard about the happy here so I had to come by for the $8 drinks. Upon entering, the restaurant is very typical Baltimore: a friendly neighborhood establishment nestled between residential row homes with a distinctive vibe and menu. And the vibe here was definitely an elevated dive experience. The bar for happy hour was packed but luckily we snagged the last seats. Onto the food! We decided on the Sally Mac and Cheese, the Carnitas Quesa-Tacos, the Fall Salad, and the Not Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. The Sally Mac and Cheese was yummy and had noticeable notes of rosemary that really made it stand out. My only complaint is that all of the cheese was on the bottom and the noodles were resting on top, but once you gave it all a good mix you got a perfect ratio of cheese to noodle in each bite! The Carnitas Quesa-Tacos were absolutely delicious and a great cheat meal. The meat inside was very tender and the tortilla was the perfect amount of soggy and retained a decent crisp although saturated with the delicious flavors. The dipping salsa was the star of the show though it was phenomenal. It was similar to a salsa verde with a tangy flavor but also with strong notes of sweetness and cilantro. The Fall Salad tasted very refreshing and light, and I felt healthier with each bite! Lastly, we got the Not Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, which is a pretty standard choice so expectations weren't too high, but this absolutely blew us away. The chicken was juicy, tender, and packed with delicious flavors. The buttery bun complimented the crunchy chicken perfectly. It was a huge portion for the price too. Amazing dining experience. The decor was super cool and the staff were all incredibly friendly. We got a bottle of wine for the table and one of the staff was able to guide us into picking a bottle to pick out a refreshing option. The food was also so delicious and the portion sizes were HUGE. My table got the Sally Mac & Cheese which was cheesy (amazing cheese pull) with the best crisp for that texture difference. The Steak Frites was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the truffles fries hit the spot. I had so much food that I had leftovers and the steak reheated so well the next day. The house steak sauce paired beautifully with the steak but the steak was super flavorful even without it. The Highlandtown Smashburger and the Impossible Smashburger (vegetarian) were both juicy and delicious and are definitely a must-order for this restaurant. We couldn't decide on a dessert so we got their dessert board which includes the birthday cake, brownie, and an assortment of icecream. It was waaay too much for 5 people but their icecream flavors were quite different. There was bourbon, coffee, chocolate, and honey. Obsessed with this place. My friend and I grabbed a drink and tried the majority of the appetizers. Everything was fantastic - from the vibes to the food and the service. Cocktail - King of the Road - Highly recommend this one if you like a smokey drink. We started with a few of the HH apps, not sure of the names because they weren't on the regular menu. One was a tomato sandwich on focaccia with basil and it was FRESH, so damn good. The other was a magical dish with ratatouille over a sort of zucchini bread. It was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. Please get it if it's available! We also got the lunchbox beets - presentation was super cute and the whipped goat cheesr and beets paired so nicely together. The summer burrata was also delicious. I loved the peaches and the basil oil was divine. It came with the focaccia, which I wish I could have 3 baskets of. Lastly we had the mac and cheese. My niece brought us here because it's her favorite restaurant. First off, it's adorable inside. Very cutely decorated with a lot of pink accents. The staff went above and beyond. Every time someone went by, they grabbed empty plates. They were all very friendly and I could tell they loved working here. They had a great cocktail list as well. We got the carnitas tacos, tempura asparagus, truffle fries, and a curry dish. The curry dish was just ok. We wouldn't get it again. The standouts were the asparagus and tacos. We love Sally O's! From the tropical decor to the well-executed comfort food to the friendly staff, it's becoming more and more one of our favorite spots in town. We've been there a good few times now but I have seldom been disappointed. A few words for the wise - 1. If they have a special that sounds good, try it! You won't be disappointed and while the menu changes a little from month to month chances are you can come back again and try something from the main menu. 2. Hours of interest- Happy Hour Monday-Saturday 5-7pm and Late Night Menu 10pm-Midnight with bar open till 1. It's a nice place to come later in the evening! 3. So far I have loved their burger and chicken sandwiches, enjoyed all the drinks I've had there, and liked most of the sides! (Sally Mac = yum!). I didn't try it but my friend said the tacos weren't quite as good as everything else, and other things are so good I haven't tried. Have had a few crab things here and wow! So good! 4. If you come as a couple or by yourself, take a seat at the bar! There are plenty of seats and you can get some good conversation in with the bartenders since they are friendly. I stopped here in mid Jan. & they were closed for remodeling with a week left to reopening. We returned on a Friday a week later around 6 and there was a wait so we ended up sitting at the Bar-too cold for outside even with the Patio Heaters. Although the interior looked good, can't say much about before/after for the remodel as our first time here-a smaller somewhat cozy spot with a mix of regular and high top tables. Started with a cocktail -they have a few interesting creations that appear to change/rotate. Star Tropics was refreshing and made me feel like it was warm outside. On the other hand Maine's Nitro Stout (Mean Old Tom) was the appropriate draft beer for this cold evening. Took advantage of their Happy Hour prices which are good M-Sat 5-7. The appetizer special that was recommended were the House made chips paired with a Crème Fraiche/Chive/Salmon roe dip. Dip was tasty and chips were ok. Another special was the Foieloni and this one we had to try given the description -House made Bologna, topped with Foie Gras & American cheese. Very tasty although I didn't taste much of the Foie Gras. Mustard/pickles balanced it out-great one to try but it was a special and not a regular menu item. The Highland Town Burger was solid with their house blend of short rib, brisket and Chuck taking it over the top. Our Parm Truffle fries paired nicely and were tasty. Listened to the dessert list and couldn't pass on the Chocolate Torte. Rich and decadent but we somehow got Vanilla Vs Coffee Ice Cream. No bother as it worked fine and happens to be House made. Also, enjoyed a recommended Amaro-can't remember the name. Couple next to us ordered Steak Frites for two-wow! Next time. This is a perfect late night spot. On this particular night, we had just left Fells and I wanted a burger so bad! The service and the server was cool offered lots of suggestions and checked in on us. Good service for late night spot because typically you're just on your own after hours. Parking was on the street. Also, the cocktails are pretty yummy! My friends only gripe was that her chicken sandwich was a bit too salty, but that is personal preference. My Burger was everything I needed to be at 11 PM. I really enjoyed the Fried Buffalo Tofu. I'm not always a huge fan of tofu because of the texture, but this dish was cooked perfectly and was packed with tons of flavor. My sister, who strongly dislikes tofu, even enjoyed it. The fried shishito peppers were good too. The special for the night was a Lobster Risotto. I was not a big fan of the flavor or texture of the dish. It was a bit mushy, but risotto is a tricky dish at times. I didn't have any cocktails this night but I will be back to try more of the menu. The space itself was really cool and well decorated. I ordered the cranberry thyme highball to start which was really tasty and later got a glass of wine which was also solid. First time visiting Sally O's because I was in the area after work for some happy hour. I arrived exactly at 5pm which is when their happy hour starts and was surprised to be the first one there! After an hour the place definitely started to fill up. The place is beautifully decorated with a trendy modern vibe and kept clean. I was kindly greeted and immediately offered service. The staff were really attentive and nice, offering to help with any questions about the menu or give recommendations. I did try a new seltzer that I ended up loving! The food was really good and came out very hot. The home made focaccia bread is moist and has great flavor dipped in the pizza burrata. WOW. I ordered Sally O's to go last night and from the moment I walked in the door on Gough that puts you right at the bar (the door on Conkling puts you at the host stand) I knew we would be back. The vibe and decorations were fantastic. Our to go order was ready right away but we still grabbed a mocha slush at the bar while we waited. This menu, while curated and small, offers some of the greatest diversity of vegetarian options. You want to take your veggie friend out for a nice meal while you still get your meats, this is a superb option. Lunchbox beets - I don't eat beets (we all have our food things) but my partner was VERY HAPPY Buffalo tofu- This sauce. THIS SAUCE! While the tofu could have had a bit more crunch, they got some great flavors in this tofu that seemed to go beyond just coating it in amazing sauce, the tofu itself seemed to have some jazziness all the way through Toastie- there can be nothing wrong with a piece of bread coated in cheese topped with spring veggies. I liked it. I'd probably opt for the burrata on the future though Chicken sandwich- over the last 3 months I have eaten 26 fried chicken sandwich, let me tell you this one is utterly unique. The juiciness of the chicken was on point. I loved the contrast of the pickled onion and arugula with the spicy Mayo and pimento cheese. Just a decadent sandwich that was nicely balanced, although a touch salty. Anyways, I'm obsessed. I visited this restaurant with a couple of friends because we had heard about this place from a Reddit post. The interior of the restaurant was very inviting, colorful, and upbeat with the music. Also, our waitress was really kind and very attentive throughout the night, which I really appreciated! We had ordered the Crabonara and Steak Frites with Green Beans. Okay, so we decided to go here lastnight for a drink or two. It was around 9ish pm on 12/22/24. Remind you we have been here before. We walk inside. A man sitting at the bar right by the door says "Hey! Welcome back!" Loud and enthusiastically. In my head I was like "wow." Cause the last time we were here he didn't interact and we were lowkey anyways. So I'm surprised he remembered us. I definitely appreciated it though cause good service here in Baltimore is a once in a lifetime thing. He also says, "we don't have any food. But, you all are welcomed to come in and have some drinks" We didn't come for food anyways. We walked towards the bar. At this moment, I hear one of the bartenders say something like "wait, what's going on here" then he comes to us and says, "sorry, we're closed for a private event. We're not usually opened today anyways" We were just like okay....? That whole interaction was weird and sus af. Cause why did the owner, manager, or whoever he is told us otherwise? So you don't know what's going on in your restaurant and you're sitting in there? Get it together. He coughed up a weak "sorry" and that was it. But uh, yeah. I have been to Sally O's five times now, ordered different food and drinks all five times, and it has consistently been five stars!!! The cocktail menu is a standout on the city, and the specials are consistently on point. Do not pass on the frozen cocktails - the pina colada was a special during one of my visits and it was so strong, smooth, and balanced. I always order an appetizer and can recommend the wings, ratatouille tartine, and crab dip (when available and seasonal). Meat is perfectly cooked and flavorful. I'm a sucker for duck and the duck steak is phenomenal. And this may be the absolute best smash burger in the city. So juicy, you will make a mess and you will not regret it. And pasta!! I've had two fantastic pasta dishes. You can't go wrong, and the menu is constantly being refreshed. AND SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT!!! Even if it's just an affogato. Finally made it to Sally O's with some friends for restaurant week! They had a really great menu for restaurant week with so many choices and everything we had was delicious. For drinks, I had orange wine for the first time which was fun. However they had some really great-looking cocktails that I would have also ordered if I wasn't driving. I got the Mac and cheese for my appetizer, which honestly could have been my entree because it was such a large portion! Then for my entree I got the sweet potato gnocchi, which was so yummy (although the pork was sliiightly too salty for my liking). And then for dessert I got the panna cotta, which was very tasty and used some fun and fresh ingredients! The food is always great, our favorites include the Sally Mac (with the Shishito Pepper app when they're in season), the Steak (seriously the best green beans I've ever had), and any version of the duck in any season never misses. The cocktail menu is always exciting and has something for everyone, and I appreciate their unique wine options as I always like to try something different. Been here twice and I would like to say this place is officially one of my favorite late night Baltimore spots to grab a bite! The kitchen stays open later than most places around and their late night menu is delicious! I believe the kitchen stays open until 12am, but I would call and confirm. Drink selection is small, but good for what it is. Good beers on draft and even had some holiday cocktails available around Christmas. Their mulled wine wasn't good, but their hard warm cider was delicious! The smash burger is a classic and you can't go wrong with that. It definitely hits the late night burger craving. What's better than the burger? The fried chicken sandwich is phenomenal. The fact that this is a late night item is a gift to the community. Stumble in drunk, angry, sad, whatever state you're in, this will satisfy you and leave you happy. This was my first visit to Sally O's to eat. I figured since it was Restaurant Week, may as well treat myself. For $35, definitely not a bad deal. The waitress was lovely. She got everything right and even double checked with the kitchen about whether there was any pork in a dish. Since it was Restaurant Week, even at 7:30 on a Wednesday night, it was packed. For my first course I went with the Summer Melon Gaspacho featuring butter poached lobster. The broth was delicious with a cantelope taste and sweetness to it balanced well by the seasoning and texture of the lobster. Having the oil and herbs in there was a plus also. My second course featured the Pan Roasted Rockfish, which had pepper & tomato stew, corn pudding, summer herbs. The corn pudding reminded me of a polenta with its sweet creamy texture. Again, a very well balance dish with a good portion size and medley of flavors. Lastly, I opted for the Black Bottom Cake with chocolate sauce, which was gigantic. As good as it tasted (and it checked off all my dessert boxes), I couldn't possibly eat it all there so I took some home. Very soft and full of chocolatey goodness. Also, you can get any bottle of wine for $35, which is a great deal. They have a great Marshmallow old fashioned that I love getting during happy hour. We came for dinner and drinks on a Friday afternoon. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we were able to get seated indoors pretty quickly. The staff and service were nice and quick. We ordered drinks off the happy hour menu, risotto, carbonara, the Smashburger, and the burrata as an appetizer. Overall, the food was very average. The star of the show is definitely the winter burrata, but everything that came after didn't really measure up. The risotto and carbonara were both cooked in a way that made it different from how it's traditionally made, and not necessarily in a good way. The carbonara in particular tasted just like noodles drenched in liquid butter, rather than a carbonara sauce. The food felt pricey for the quality that we were paying for, and we were even incorrectly charged for multiple items, some of which we didn't even recognize until after we had gotten home and it was too late to ask for a correction. The ambience indoors was lovely and fun, but given the unimpressive food and service mistakes, I probably would not return. read more

Ive done take out a few times from Sally O's but hadnt had a chance to dine in until the start of the new year. Picking up takeout is the easiest process, they staff were so helpful and even brought things out curbside so i didnt have to wait in the restaurant. Eating inside the staff was just as nice, my reservation group got smaller and they were very helpful and got us seated and taken care of. Either eating in or out the food is great! i got a burger for takeout and wasnt disappointed and brunch was perfect. Me and a friend stopped in to Sally O's for their popping happy hour deals which includes $7 specialty drinks, small plate bites, beer, etc. and we were both pleasantly surprised! The decor of the place is very trendy with the led signs and jungle print wallpaper, like a Gen Z take on Margaritaville lol. Our hostess was an absolute doll! She was so sweet and attentive, the place wasn't super busy when we came but multiple people checked on us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves but definitely not in an overbearing way. We both started with the pineapple white sangria which was DELICIOUS. It was perfect for these warm spring afternoons. They also have a very extensive wine list which I'll be checking out next time. I ordered the "Your Favorite Wings" and wow they actually lived up to the name. You can't tell from the picture but the wings were HUGE and had this lovely grill to them that made them crispy but still juicy. I got extra of the Peruvian sauces on the side cause if you know, you know ;) and it was perfect. The portion size was also big, I was so happy I was able to take some home. My friend ordered the MD blue catfish and she enjoyed it at first, it was a lil heavy handed on the breading but the flavor was nice. However, the potatoes and asparagus underneath were def on the oily and saltier side, especially with the sauce that comes on top. A brighter/fresher vegetable option would work best with the meal since it's already so heavy. The portion size for the fish was also hefty which is always a plus for me. Overall, the service is friendly and I get the vibe that the residents near by visit this place regularly. Don't let the outside fool you, this place is the spot for an after work treat. read more

Everyone raves about this place so I was super excited to visit but I was disappointed but my visit. Everything was good but not great, nothing calling my name to visit again. We visited for restaurant week and the menu was broad and had a lot of options. The appetizers were my favorite part but the main courses and dessert were just okay. Can't stop thinking about Sally O's! This vibey little restaurant is relatively new to the Baltimore food scene, but they have built an overwhelmingly positive reputation and for good reason! The service is extremely friendly, from the hosts to the servers to the bartenders. And the food is SO good! The menu has so many interesting things to offer, and although eclectic menus can often be hit or miss, Sally O's hit the mark on every dish. From the truffle fries, to the ramen, to the impossible burger and Nashville "not-hot" chicken sandwich, to the carnitas tacos, everything was amazing! Also, the cocktails are amazing as well. They even do a few incredible mocktails. Sally O's has quickly climbed to the top of my Bmore foodie list! Can't wait to go back--the carnitas tacos are calling my name. Seriously, order them. First, the food was fabulous! Walked in and were greeted by the bartender who sat us down and provided information on seating on the happy hour menu and informed us of the happy hour drink specials. The menu had vegan options which was great. we had the focaccia sandwich in which the bread alone you could eat without the apples and cheese stuffed into the bread. Next up the Burrta with fresh beef tomatoes seasoned well with basil and olive oil along with slices of the focaccia bread slightly toasted. Mm Mm good! Also, the tempura squash was fried perfectly with the right amount of seasoning. My non-veggie friend may have converted to eating more vegetables based on this one dish. This is a great neighborhood spot with a chill vibe friendly service and good drinks. Make sure you stop by. read more
