I have been seeing Crystal now for all most 2 years. She always does amazing work, and no one can cut my bangs the way she does. The picture of me in the red sweater is 2 months after she last cut my bangs in March, right before they had to close cause of the pandemic. This is a long overdue review - and one that I probably should have written almost eight years ago now, which is the first time I got my hair cut by Crystal. At the salon where she worked before Crystal opened her own shop on Division, a huge mural of Brigitte Bardot seemed to take up an entire wall and when I saw it, I jokingly said to Crystal, "That's what I want to look like." Well, she delivered. I left that salon feeling transformed by the haircut Crystal had given me. She captures my 70s sensibility with a modern touch and gives me a hair cut that lasts four-to-six months every time. Despite the distance between appointments, my hair remains consistently easy to style because Crystal has an affinity for knowing the personality and tendencies of your hair itself, allowing the cut to keep its style for months on end. Having moved to Denver last spring, I can't see Crystal as much as I would like but you better believe I fly out to Portland to get my hair cut -- that is how much I trust her to make my hair dreams come true. As an out of town visitor in need of a haircut, I rolled the dice and happened upon Pinn, and am very glad indeed! Aside from their stellar Yelp reviews, I was reassured by the fact that they carried Bumble and Bumble and R+Co brand products (and they have a beautifully designed website, to boot). Pro-tip: Make your appointment through their online reservation system. I initially called and left a voicemail, because I needed something very last minute, and never heard back. However making the subsequent online reservation was easy and quick. Even though I was meeting stylist Jessica A. for the first time, she immediately understood what was going on with my hair, and gave me a beautiful wash, trim, and blow dry. Pinn's salon space is also aesthetically lovely, with an unusually striking wooden counter--really nice, but also down to earth and not overly fussy. I think that cuts generally run around $60. Neither haircut was really extensive or detailed so it couldn't give a true sampling of the salon. I went in the second time on my own. I explained my desire for a clean but pixie (b/c i can't stand the grow out). When I came home my husband actually asked if I had forgotten I had a haircut that day. I recently had a cut done by Lacey Brown. I wanted to cut several sad and limp inches off of my hair and start fresh. Lacey asked me a few questions about my routine - which is spend as little time on my hair as possible without looking like I just crawled out from under a rock - and what I was looking for style wise. I asked her to do what she thought would look good and stay manageable. We settled on a long bob with razor cut layers to add texture and thin out some of the volume. IT LOOKS AWESOME. I have never loved my hair at this length in the past, but this is by far the best cut I have ever had - long or short. I don't think I can grow it out again after this because I love it too much! Thank you, Lacey! I have been going to Pinn Salon for a few years now, and every experience I have had with them has been amazing. I have thick hair with a combination of textures that I have always struggled with in the past, but each of the stylists I have had the pleasure to work with have done an amazing job translating my (probably vague) descriptions of what I am looking for into something that works the best for my face, my routine, and my hair. I am revising my review after what has transpired since my cut as this is the most traumatizing experience I have had with a hair stylist. I have cried over my haircut everyday since. It is considerably shorter than what I had requested and brought photos of. Photo attached. The right is a photo of myself I requested to be cut to and right is the length I left with. I left voicing that concern and felt like I was met with "you got exactly what you asked for" and that I would grow to like it. Due to covid there is no wash or style so I was unable to truly see the extent of how off the haircut was from what I requested until I was home and washed and styled my hair. I cried throughout the process and took photos to show Crystal a side by side difference. I wanted her acknowledgment of the mess up. Her response was that the cut is the exact same length. Crystal did very kindly offer to refund the $96 dollars (including 20% tip). I then wrote my initial yelp review. She emailed me asking me to remove my review. I felt her response only continued to place blame on me, the customer, or on Covid (mask, not being able to wash or style). After checking my bank account and seeing that rather than seeing a refund I had been charged an additional $96. I reached out as I assumed she missed the negative sign when she issued the refund. Which would have been an honest mistake. Her response however indicated and a refund was contingent on me removing my review from Yelp. Which not only goes against Yelp's user guidelines but is also illegal under the Consumer Review Fairness Act. I was told I cannot have both a refund and the ability to share my haircut experience. A bad haircut is one thing and I will live to see another day and likely another bad haircut. However, bad customer service is at the heart of this complaint. read more

Beautiful salon. Lacy Leigh is my GIRL, and has been for going on 5 years!! I have thick, long wavy hair, and she has a unmatched way of maintaining the fullness while removing the bulk like no stylist I've ever had. It's an art form, really. Also, without fail, my haircuts always grow into something wonderful and wild; the style grows in incredibly well, every time. I blow out my hair once in a while, but it mostly styles itself (the layers grow in well and fall naturally with minimal styling needed). She also supported me during my bangs days, and is awesome with color. She brings a sense of adventure to every cut, and is always supportive of my vision. Best long haircut ever! Lacy Leigh transformed my locks. I walked in with looong hair, remnants of a so-so cut and a rough idea and photos of what I wanted. After a short conversation, she understood exactly what I was going for and made suggestions to tweak what I thought I needed to be more in line with the look she thought I was going for. I was a little nervous watching her cut some layers but I trusted her expertise and she was absolutely right about what my hair needed and I immediately loved the result (and still love it after some days of styling it myself). She made my hair do things I didn't know possible (thanks Lacy!!!)! She was incredibly skilled and proficient and lovely. Pinn Salon is also cute and had a nice feel to it. What a charming salon! It was bright, chic and inviting. I've been hopping around salons for a while and I'm so glad I finally found Kelsea. I have very thick curly hair that was almost to my bum and desperately needed a cut and color. In the past It can be a struggle to comb through and I'm sure a harder challenge to cut and shape. She offered me a drink and then we chatted briefly about what I wanted. Kelsea is very easy to talk to and very funny. She gave me a soft natural color and a cut that left my curls happy again. I went through a string of inconsistent cuts in Texas and my hair was long and limp and we cut it shorter and she brought it back to life and it was personally empowering, like the opposite of Samson. It's not only just the cut but she really is a hair guru, giving me basic tips to work into my routine that I can do everyday to make my hair look better in less time. She gets me and gives me the right cut and color for my low maintenance ways. With color, she does an awesome job of varying the color so it looks natural.
