The lady asked me if I wanted to thin it out and I told her maybe a little if needed but NOT too much, I don't want it to be thin and now it already looks like I need a new haircut again. She didn't even show me the back upon leaving so I never saw my hair until I got home. I would have just cut it shorter if anything to even it out but she already cut it shorter than what I initially asked for. I had gone to Mehana Salon in my town city of Kapolei where the stylist there (Nani) had effe'd up my hair. I paid her $500 plus a generous tip to do a honey & ash blonde balayage. Well turns out she not only knew My hair was thin but foil/fried the shit out of my hair! This was NO Balayage! I got Full highlights with very little to non toner at the end! My husband & All My kids hated it! I looked 10 years older & The bottom line, She couldn't care less but she lost my families business that was seeing her for over 20 years! Anyhu, Ladies & Gentlemen back to Thee Wonderful Fantastic Ava Salon & The Awesome staff here. All so very polite & friendly... even their little poodle pup. I showed Brandon the hideous haircolor & cut that Nani at Mehana Salon gave me. & I did explain to Brandon that it took me a year and a half to grow it out with several Keratin treatments & hair trims. I'll insert the picture of before (the ugly) & after Brandon at Ava Salon had worked his hair magic on me. I gave Brandon 2 photos that surely did come from Ava's Salon. One was caramel balayage & the other was Mocha balayage. I told him i didn't want the upkeep for the moment so no ash blonde balayage please. & I gave him the reins to do his best & told him I trusted him with his color combo. He did just that. He put me at ease & Walked me through the first few steps of process & Also told me that he was gonna add foils but nowhere near leaving me under a dryer. It came out BEAUTIFULLY done. && Way under the cost that Nani at Mehana Salon took from me. Ladies, Gentlemen & Teen kids if ya'll are looking for a salon that razzle dazzles you then come here. My straight perm was amazing! Very kind & sweet stylist. The process is about 3-4 hours. Hair is super shiny & straight. Sadly my only issue is a trimming I got. Which I didn't initially make an appointment for. Before we started she mentioned my bangs were slightly uneven on the sides. Last time I got them trimmed was about 2-3 weeks ago and I usually curl them so it isnt too bad. But I agreed a trim would be needed. For reference, I have layered side tufts some of which I have been growing out. When she went to "trim" my bangs. She cut them extremely wide & my tufts with them. I sat there, not wanting to seem upset. I did express how I felt at the end & she was super apologetic and asked why I didnt tell her. Not much to say when you are already cutting them off. Completely change the shape & the style of my hime/hush cut. I know they will grow back and I still think the japanese straight perm is beautiful! But I would advise to be weary getting any trimming or cuts here. read more

I had a great time at the salon. I wanted to treat myself to a wash and style at a new salon and I found Salon Ava online. They were so sweet and during my wash they suggested a scalp treatment. They let me know how long it would be and how much it would cost before it started. Since I was on a time crunch I took out the style and had them focus on a scalp treatment. I think this is gonna have to be part of my regular hair care routine now. I definitely recommend giving it a try if you have scalp issues! read more

First off, the online scheduling was easy, and anyone who lives here knows parking can be a headache, but that was also easy here too with the free parking on the second floor. staff was super friendly and welcoming. They even offered me a cup of coffee that actually tasted high-quality, which really set the tone for the visit. For my cut, my stylist knew exactly what she was doing. I gave her a general idea of what I wanted, and I was very satisfied with the result. If you want a sharp fade or a clean trim and a relaxing experience, this is definitely the place! I also don't know what shampoo they used after my haircut but it smelled nice and I felt so refreshed. It wasn't just a quick rinse, they really take their time with the head massage and make it feel like a premium service rather than just a chore after the cut. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but I had to say something. Basically they charged me $500+ to turn my hair orange. My hair was dark brown (dyed). And I understand that it's a long process to make it light brown again, but they knew they messed up and it left me crying. To start, the stylist double booked himself and instead of rescheduling me, he stuck me with a random stylist that seemed lost the whole time. They said they toned my hair but I looked like a pumpkin at the end. Not to mention, the older woman who worked on my hair, seemed rushed and immediately walked out the door after curling my hair. Idek if she toned my hair. I would have asked her to tone it again, but she was gone. She also barely spoke English so after she dried it, I couldn't get through to her and ask about the color. Or even the possibility of toning it again. The stylist, who I was supposed to see, was still working on someone else's hair. Keep in mind, I saw him for a consultation on a Monday and he scheduled me for that Friday. So idk how someone got booked at the same time. The guy at the front desk was nice and could tell I was sad though. He gave me a free hair mask. But all the employees gave me this look of "oh sh*t that looks bad". I think they were waiting for me to say something, but I was just so embarrassed. It felt like everyone was judging me. I asked about the color and when I could come back to get it fixed, they said two months. That would mean two months of bright orange hair for me. And the stylist (that barely worked on my hair) told me my photo was unrealistic and "looked white". It was a picture of someone with light brown hair, not white. The same picture I showed him at the consultation. Idk why he held that in til the end of the appointment anyways. I got flustered because it seemed like he was mad at me for even asking for that color. I didn't even know how to respond except with "I didn't think it looked white" and then I got quiet. Ended up crying in my car in their parking lot for 45 mins until going to Ulta and asking them to fix it. Ulta toned it and put a gloss in it to at least make it look normal. I was so embarrassed and hated how I looked that I even cried in front of the Ulta employees. Not proud of it...but it happened Bottom line, I'd find another salon. read more

I finally got around to cutting my hair after 5+ months. I've been coming to this same salon for a few years now, and I keep coming back because it's close to where I live and they always do a great job with my haircuts. They even threw in a free wash too with my cut. It came out to be ~40, which for most areas in town is pretty reasonable I think. Their dog is also super cute!
