Another thing is I didn't like the way my ends were trimmed. Yes the color is very nice though. Sam did my hair and he did a really good job. I want to give 5 stars but I also felt misled simply because a good chunk of my length was lost from this and it was not worth the price paid for. It does not sit well with me. The reason I gave 3 stars instead of 4 was because the way my ends were cut were chopped off. They weren't trimmed. They were just chopped off. That'd be okay if I weren't charged $400. $400 charge was to maintain my length, but wasn't. UPDATE: Edited mine to 4 stars because I really do love the color. Sam did an amazing job with my color. Hopefully I can get my ends fixed though! After washing my hair, my color still comes out beautiful. Photo is posted.

The stylist was working with me and tried to achieve what I was asking for, I just wish there was a bit more conversation about how to achieve what I want. Instead, I was impressed with how the stylist reiterated the hair cut back to me in bullet note like fashion, but it didn't initiate more conversation but instead felt like a: I'm telling you what I'm doing so if you dislike it in the end, it's your fault not mine. Giving 4 stars because I only had the stylist the one time! Don't knock this place until you try it, but this was my experience. I'm posting some reference pics along with my haircut. After the gloss was washed out I noticed grays and asked about it. It was then I was told, "a gloss doesn't cover grays. We'd be lucky to get 30-40% coverage with a gloss." After getting home I now realize the gloss isn't even and pulled reddish. I did leave without a blow dry out of frustration so in all fairness I'm sure they would have adjusted that had I stayed. But also, I figured it would probably be fine since it's a gloss but not the case. The manager did offer for another appointment with the owner or another stylist but I declined and they did not charge me. Just posting to help another person avoid this.

I don't write reviews often, but a salon that offers Mimosas and jazz every Sat morning? Come on! My regular stylist moved to FL and after searching high and low I settled on trying Salon Capri and booked an appt with the owner. His parents were both hair stylists and he grew up knowing this was his life's work and took over the business from them and grew it. Well it shows. What a talent. I highlight my hair and not only is the color fantastic, but it grows in really well. And the cut is awesome, done by his own hand, not passed off to an assistant. And yes, the shampoo chairs are massage chairs and they're brilliant. I treat myself to an Uber car to get here just so my whole day is posh and fantastic. I love this salon. I couldn't get an appointment with my regular stylist so I figured I'd give it a try but after getting my hair cut, colored, blowed and styled by the stylist Kate Honer I am officially switching!! She does great work and did exactly what i wanted without even showing her a picture or comparison. She didn't over cut, (which they always do!) but it was enough that my hair looks and feels healthy. Also the blow dry and style that didn't even take half as long as it usually does looked awesome! I decided to try Capri Salon because I was very disappointed in every other salon on Newbury Street! I called and got an appt. with Kate. They offered me great times that fit my schedule. Everyone was as nice and friendly as they could be. I will tell you.....Kate is my new best friend for life! I went to salon Capri last Saturday and had the most amazing services!! I was recommended to Kate honer from a friend of mine, that couldn't stop telling me how wonderful she was. I just had to see for myself what all the fuss was about, and i am glad i did!!! She did such an amazing job!! I had highlights and a cut and I could not be happier. She also did a break base, which I had never heard of before but it really helped to brightened everything and made it a perfect blend! I am definitely going to tell everyone I know about her! Sarah does my color. She really listens. She really cares. She's REALLY talented. She's done something I didn't think could be done: taken me from coloring my roots every month to gray blended so skillful and pretty that people think I'm naturally blonde. They don't really see the gray, which is insane. Now I get color every 3-4 months and could probably go longer. Bella cuts my hair. First of all, she's the coolest. 6 feet tall, can (and does) wear anything. Her blowouts are crazy good and have that indefinable perfectly imperfect quality. I'm heading down to the salon in a few minutes. It's been five months since she last cut it. I could go longer, but I'm entering my My Montecito Summer in MayWinter Boston phase and want the clavicut, whatever collarbone length bobs are called. I have (Sarah created) blonde hair--wavy, white lady. I see Bella doing cool cuts in people with textured hair, too. Grace also does epic blowouts and is the cutest. Can't wait to see what she does once she's optimized as a stylist! This review is long because it's easy to keep talking about a place you love, and because I see some Yelpers taking some truly bizarre shots at the salon. I wonder if they've actually been there or maybe they just call and pick fights with whoever answers the phone. Nice work, idiots, if so.

I have proof of this charge, further proof this salon does not have your best interest at heart. Also - no, a warm shade is not needed. I've been way blinded than I was trying to go this time and never had a horrible burner orange shade. Your stylists just aren't skilled. I hate to write poor reviews but I had absolutely the worst hair experience of my life here. I have naturally dark hair and I wanted to go light, which I have done before. I explained to the stylist that I understand it will take a few appointments to get to the color I wanted. I will preface this will I came in for a consultation before o committed to anything. I told him it had been over a year since I colored my hair and provided a list of products I use. He seemed to know what he was doing so we got started. After about three hours, he washes my hair and it is ORANGE. I mean deep burnt orange, I had never seen my hair like that. I tried not to be upset so I paid and I left. I was looking at it in the light as I walked home and started to cry. It was the most unnatural orange hair I've ever seen on anyone. I went back the next day to speak to them and the stylist proceeded to yell at me and yell it was part of the process. Actually it's not, I've been blonde before and never had an orange step. He is actually being rude to me while the owner was sitting there. Mind you I paid $354 for burnt orange hair. They agreed to fix it at their other soon with another stylist. She did what she could to save it, it was better but still a hint of orange. My hair was also so damaged. I paid over $400 with tip for orange damaged hair. I eventually had to chop my hair about 8 inches because of the damage. Six months later, a million treatments and being self conscious it's still not great. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. DO NOT SEE MICHAEL. DO NOT TRUST THE OWNERS TO DO THE RIGHT THING. just avoid at all costs, save your money and your hair.

Very good business ethic from Jay. ** Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE experience with Avanti this Sunday, July 20th 2025. My sister was getting married on Sunday, an 11:00AM ceremony. We made an appointment with Avanti (Corey specifically) for that morning. After some back and forth on timing we received confirmation that Corey would come in early for the service at 9:00AM. We were quoted a base fee of $150. (confirmation email attached) The morning of the wedding arrives and we take a cab across town to get the bride's hair done. We go up the four flights of stairs and arrive at a locked, dark salon. No one was there. No lights, nothing. We knocked, no one. We pulled up the email and confirmed again that Corey had promised to be here. We emailed them confirming we were waiting and to please get in touch (they never responded to that email - also attached.) We called the number listed and it was an automated message, no way to speak to a real person. The bride is obviously distraught, the ceremony starts in two hours and we have no one to do her hair. We waited around until around 9:30AM and finally couldn't wait any longer. We were beyond grateful to the outstanding salon next door, James Joseph Salon, for their extremely accommodating, empathetic, and beautiful work. They rushed us in the door immediately and had us BOTH walking out 45 minutes later with incredible style, at an unbeatable price. Halfway through my sister getting her hair rescued, we received a call from Avanti asking where we were. I stated that no one showed up, it was unacceptable behavior for ANY day let alone a wedding appointment. She said "Well, we're here now." No apologies, no empathy, nothing. She should be lucky I hung up before saying what I wanted to. DO NOT trust this salon with your time, your credit card information, or your hair - you'd be much better off heading next door to James Joseph Salon. They show up.
