Having known Rey and Damara and even worked with them 7 years ago I don't understand why I continue to be a salon whore and then always end up back with both of them to fix my messed up head. After a couple years away and needing a change (definition = whoring around on my stylist/colorist) I made an appointment to go lighter and get a cut. As always Rey and Damara welcomed me back with open arms and fixed up my hair. The Joico color that they use at Salon Fluxx is amazing and is a million times better than the Redken so many other places use. I always end up leaving after trying to make Redken work for me, it just doesn't. Damara gave me the hightlights I wanted and made my base lighter with no red (a pet peeve and something Redken pulls on my hair so I'm never really happy). Rey fixed up some issues with my cut and it looks like I have new hair. I have a friend who cheated on the same stylist we used to go to with Rey on the same day. We're done whoring around and are with Salon Fluxx for the long haul. read more

I love Liza's work as well as my color with Damara. Unfortunately I have cheated on them for a few salon visits due to time constraints ( I live an hour away), but I couldn't be happier after my last visit. Liza's always funky style ( which i absolutely love) shouldn't be a reason to be put off if you are a conservative type- she will give you exactly what you want, need, didn't know you wanted but you will love it! Staff seems to be not very familiar with styling and coloring natural African American hair. My first time stopping in for Mother's Day weekend. The colorist admitted to being 'honest' and blunt, but in actuality was very rude about my natural hair texture. I was told to basically set up two different appointments one to cut and straighten (flat iron) my curly hair to make it easier for the colorist to color it on a following appointment. I drove several miles for a rude and lousy consult, it almost ruined my weekend. I'm usually not a salon goer, I have long hair, and usually a quick $8 trim is all I need. I wanted something different... a body wave perm. So I scoured Yelp for the best rated salons that offer this service in the Naperville Area and Salon Fluxx was at the top of the list AND they were offering a $40 for $50 deal, so I bought that and called to make my appointment. I was able to get in the next day for a 7pm appointment with Lisa M. Lisa took some time with me to discuss what I was looking for, I showed her the pictures I had gathered from Google and Pinterest, and she told me which were 'curled' and which were more likely permed - so my expectations were set. She then proceeded to roll and roll and roll some more to get my hair all ready for processing. She was wonderful to chat with while working. She took care that I was comfortable through the whole process. She really wanted to do a trim and shape before I left, but they were already 20 minutes passed closing time, so I scheduled a 2nd appointment to come back for a cut. I'm so happy with the results, even without the cut, it's exactly what I was hoping for, and the price wasn't astronomical either! I've found that to be a rare occurrence in the salon world. Exceptional service and great results is what you can expect from Salon Fluxx! Its not very often I get to leave a place without thinking how I'd like something done differently for the next time such as "I'd like less/more highlights" or "perhaps a different shade would be better." I went in for color services with an idea of what I wanted and Liza Espinoza and George transformed my hair into something even better than what I had expected. They had great questions for me and seemed genuinely interested in what I was looking for while considering my skin tone and creating a look that compliments me personally. Their passion for what they do really shines and is defintely evident within minutes of going in. First visit today at this salon, and even though I only called yesterday, they found a way to fit me in (albeit haircut first then color which was totally fine by me), they accommodated me from that very first call. Rachel (cut) - amazing! Not only was she personable and professional, but this is the FIRST time I have had someone cut my hair and NOT round brush it out to hide any potential flaws. Dianna (color) - also amazing! She was able to sense my personality and fear for doing anything too dramatic while at the same time daring me to make a change from boring to subtle hombre. Very sorry I have to update and downgrade my previous review. On my second visit to Cara, she was just as friendly but when my highlight was done she unilaterally decided to dump a bunch of brown lowlight on, to the point where I couldn't even see the blonde highlights she just put in. I told her it was much too flat and brown but it was her quitting time so I just had to deal with it until I could get back in to see her another day. When I came back, she stripped off the brown and I could see why she had done that in the first place...the highlights she had put in were super sloppy, not starting close to the head and uneven. I'm convinced she saw this and decided the quickest way to get me out of the salon was to dump the brown on so I couldn't see the disaster she'd made of the highlights. Once she took off the brown we could both see it but she was already busy with her next customer. I won't be back....Don't have time to come in three times for something that needs to be done right the first time. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Salon Fluxx. I live on the East Coast and have searched years for a salon that measures up here. I have yet to find one! Thankfully my family lives close to Naperville so I am able to schedule appointments when I visit. The salon is clean, unpretentious, and the staff is super accommodating and friendly. I was there a week ago for a cut and color. I described to Damara what I had in mind for my color and the results were even better than I envisioned. She corrected the blocky color that was done here on the East Coast and made my hair look natural, healthy, and shiny again. I then had my naturally curly hair cut and styled by Liza. Liza carefully works with the individual curl pattern on your head to bring out the shape best suited for your hair and face. I have had several DEVA cuts and they don't compare to the detail and precision of Liza's cuts. I returned to the East Coast early this week and have not only received numerous compliments on my hair from friends and colleagues, but I have also received compliments from three complete strangers! So I have yet another wonderful review to write regarding my last visit to Salon Flux! I had my usual highlights done by the amazing Cara and afterward I had a haircut with Tennille. I've never had my hair cut here but decided to have it done at the same time as my color to save myself time. She is a newer stylist but I would have never guessed it! I just needed a trim but Tennille made it much more than that! She was able to fix my not so good layers and make a plan for me to get the hair I've been wanting. I came here on July 1st, 2020 to re-touch my balayage and to go a bit darker. Danielle did an excellent job before, but she really messed up this time. She left the bleach on for more than an hour and the color was a lot lighter. However, if this was my only issue, I would not be writing this review. Danielle was getting bleach on my face and I told her to take it off politely, but I barely noticed the bleach all over my neck. The weeks following my appointment with Salon Fluxx, I had a terrible burning sensation on my neck and it was red, and I assumed that it was because I was using new acne medication. However, as time passed, parts of my skin became lighter and darker, and it was quite evident that the bleach burned my skin. I politely called them back and let them know, and they told me to send them pictures, which I did. They called me back and yelled at my parents calling me "rude", a "liar", and said "I don't know what I want." Now, if they didn't believe me, they could've explained that and told me I need a doctors note, like a civil person. However, the fact that they yelled at a 17 year old girl because she let them know what they did is completely immature, unprofessional, and embarrassing. So anyways, I went to a dermatologist appointment, and they, in fact, did agree with me that this was contact dermatitis from the bleach. I am leaving this review to show you that they may be polite in salon during ur appointment, but their customer service is absolutely terrible and embarrassing. Even if they did not believe me, there were so many civil ways they could have handled the situation. The fact that I'm younger than all of them and able to act more professional and mature than them, should really show their true colors. All I'm saying is, this salon is a hit or miss. They honestly sometimes get the hair you want spot on and sometimes they go far from what you want. Just don't expect them to act professional if they are faced with criticism. read more

He listens and he delivers everything I ask and then some. He has so much high end speicalized training that his price really should be higher...but I am grateful it's not. I am so thrilled that I found Salon Fluxx in Naperville. It was my daughter's prom last weekend and we had already set up an appointment with a local salon, later finding that the we needed an earlier time as plans had changed. They could not give my daughter an earlier appointment so I went in search of a salon that could do her hair and nails in such a short notice. I ventured over one half hour away. But it was worth it. So happy we found Salon Fluxx on Yelp. We chose to go there because of the good reviews and we were not let down at all. My daughter's hair is really short so I didn't think they could do much with it, but Cassandra did a great job. As for makeup, I can't believe what a wonderful job DeShawn Bowman did on my daughter. This woman is more than talented. She is gifted in makeup artistry. My daughter walked out of there looking like a movie star. I've been coming to Salon Fluxx for around six months. Liza is cutting my hair, and Dianna is my colorist. It's the first time I haven't had the same person for both, and I am thrilled with both of them. I interviewed people at four salons, and there was no question about who I wanted to work with. Liza and Dianna really listened to what I want, which is fun and variety, limited by the fact that I work in finance. They were also very willing to work with me regarding allergies that cause me problems with some hair colors. They've given me hair that I can part on one side for the office and the other side for a completely different weekend look. They work together to coordinate my cut and color, and they're so good that I just love looking in the mirror and seeing what they've done for me. After just a few visits, I quickly got to the situation I love being in at a salon. I sit in the chair, they ask me what I want, and I say, "I trust you. Do whatever you want." read more

I had gone to a few other salons without luck and decided to try out Salon Fluxx- Loryn was my stylist. She was great at correctly assessing what would work for my hair and making the cut fit perfectly. I have gotten so many compliments. Tennile didn't cut my hair short enough. I specifically showed her what I wanted and she only cut half of the length I wanted off. I found out when she went from cutting the back to the side. She convinced me it would bounce up after it dried. Then when she was done blow drying I was surprised that she was done. It was blow dried into a 60's flip. I hate that style. She didn't even ask me what style I wanted and when I told her I didn't want a flip she told me she would up-charge me to flat iron the ends. So basically I paid her for nothing. I was unhappy with my haircut and style and wasted $58. I usuallly get my hair cut infrequently because I can't afford to get many cuts. So when I get it cut I want a good 2 inches off. I don't want a half inch to an inch trim. I showed her a half inch below my collar bone and pinched 2 inches from the bottom of my hair and lifted it to the side so she could see. Then she tried to convince me that my hair would bounce up; yeah if i let it air dry and my natural curl brought it up. (insulting my intelligence). Rude. She should've just started over and done it right instead of convincing me and going through the whole thing and then styling into a flip thinking I wouldn't notice it was still too long.
