I am relatively new to Yelp but not new to Salon Lorrene. I have been going there for years and years. Kristin takes care of me, and Bree takes care of my daughter. I have never had a bad experience there. They take the time to listen. The customer service is top notch from the women at the front desk to the ones who shampoo. Everyone has the customer's satisfaction as their #1 goal. The staff comes across as happy and friendly. I feel like Lorrene knows how to take care of her employees. Interactions I have had with her have also been positive and friendly. The stylists are experts. I always get compliments on my color and cut after leaving there. Went for a haircut and after showing the pictures (curled hair that touches shoulders) Shannon confirmed she knew what I wanted.... ugh... I'm so unhappy. She cut it way too short. My hair is barely touching my shoulders when it's straight. I realized she was rushing right after a girl came by asking if she was going to be done soon because her next appointment was here. I know it's just hair but i actually started crying. I paid $55 for a haircut I hate and because I'm an idiot I still tipped the stylist $17. I regret going here. read more

I have been going to Salon Lorrene for massage for over a year now and can't recommend massage therapist, Marinela, more highly. I can personally attest to her care for her clients, skill and knowledge of her craft. Marinela has been able to reduce or eliminate a number of painful injures for me, including an Achilles injury that had plagued me for over two years. After just a couple sessions, the pain (that I started to believe would never go away) vanished and has not returned. I also appreciate that Marinela also takes the time to explain the source of pain and supplemental alternative treatments. I finally decided I needed a change in my thin, dark brown, never colored, limp hair. I usually go through the cycle of cutting it short and let it grow long until my next cut. Having thin hair I don't like to spend much money since I can't do much with it. Coloring is a whole different world! One day I picked up the phone and called the Salon and told them I wanted to color my hair, they informed me of a free consultation, which definitely eased me when I came in. I was meeting with Kristin, who was so patient in trying to understand what I wanted and thorough in explaining my options using the sample hair coloring book. I came with no pictures and just ideas of what I wanted - Balayage that was subtle. We seemed to both be on the same page as I was describing what I wanted and she described what she was going to do to make that happen. She in turn, put me in greater ease by telling me that to be sure that we are BOTH on the same page to bring in sample pictures of what I was thinking the day I was going to come back in to color my hair. The day of my hair coloring she was amazing. I showed her the pictures and we confirmed we were both thinking the same thing. Unfortunately the outcome didn't come out to what EITHER of us expected. Right after washing it out, she directly told me that she had expected my hair to have more dimension and the lighter colors she had put in didn't come out as expected. Overall my hair was lighter, but didn't come out to the balayage outcome. Kristen told me we could attempt again the same day or I can come back in a week and get it fixed. Honestly I was happy it became a 2 step process. I liked the lighter hair and it wasn't such a shock to have so much color! I came back a few days later and it was fixed! The balayage hair was perfect! My coworkers, family, and friends all told me it looked natural and subtle - EXACTLY what I wanted. AND I am LOVING my hair! I will be back to Kristin when I need my hair colored again. The entire staff is great and attentive, the salon is beautiful and in great condition, and I have found my new favorite stylist!!! You get what you pay for. I have long thinish hair and just need a simple trim. I've been going to another salon and paying $50 for the trim/cut. I wanted to try a cheaper place as it really is only 2-3" of a trim, no layers, no coloring, etc. This place was $35 for a Jr. Level stylist. She was nice however I left looking like I had nothing done to my hair. I explained to the stylist that I wear my hair long at work so I need it to look clean and professional, just a simple trim to get the dead ends off. I told her 2" was ok. She had me stand up, trimmed a little bit of hair and then the remaining 10-15 minutes was spent blow drying my hair. No trimming was done in the front hair that is not as long as the hair in the back. I guess when I said no layers she thought I only needed the back trimmed? Not sure. At any rate, I'll be going back to Tricoci and spending the extra $15 for a cut that actually looks like something happened to my hair. read more

I switched to Salon Lorrene and Shannon about 4 haircuts ago. Even though Shannon texturizes my hair (a way of thinning it) it still looks shiny and smooth. She's done a few different styles on me, so she's not afraid to take risks and do what she thinks would look best. She does a great job with my blond highlights as well. I called Salon Lorrene last night for a last minute haircut. As a new customer, they squeezed me in right away with Vanessa. Hands down, best haircut I've ever had. She really knew what she was doing - I have wavy hair and she straightened it to clean up the cut at the end because she said if it is even when it's straight it will always be even - no one has ever done that before. The cut looked great when I left and great this morning when left to my own styling devices - I'm a low maintenance wash and go kind of girl. Overall the whole experience was top notch. From the reception girls to the shampoo girls to the stylists. They even got me in for a brow wax after my cut. I will say Salon Lorrene is on the pricey side... I paid $65 for my cut. Normally, I avoid anything over $50 for a haircut, but this was definitely worth it. I really did get what I paid for. I will be going back. read more

I went to this salon beginning in 2016 when I had just moved here and didn't have a "hair" person. At first it was great, but then I had someone (don't remember the name) do my color for over 3 hours and by the end, it looked exactly the same. The stylist thankfully recognized that there was no color change and said I could come back in for a color correct on another day. I came back for a color correct with one of the senior stylist and felt kind of awkward that someone else had to fix a mistake they didn't make :/ But they didn't charge me- it just took more time out of my schedule and I felt bad not tipping so then I spent even more money. I then changed salons and hadn't been back for a year or so until recently when my usual hair girl was out of town. I decided to try this salon again. The girl did a nice job but the total was like $230 and that was before a tip. So total was pretty much $300. Maybe that's expected but...just know that you will be paying A LOT if you go here. read more

The actual salon is nice. Its very big with plenty of room. They have a nice set up and it looks like everything is kept clean. My experience was not great. Andrea butchered my hair. I ended up having to basically shave my head. She over bleached it. Then tried to say my hair was falling out because I had health problems. I was telling her about my acid reflux before lol. The shampoo girl even made a comment about her putting the bleach all over my head and not the roots. I sat to long with very strong bleach on my already white hair. Its not a mystery this is what happened. Yes I paid for this disaster. She told me to not blow dry or style my hair. To try not to touch it. Not practical. In the manager/owners? defense she gave me a lot of products for FREE. She gave me advice on how to grow back my hair and how to make it stronger. She had me come in and basically cut all the damaged hair off and dye it back to dark brown for FREE. She tried as best as she could to mend a very broken situation. The problem was I was basically a number 1. I had a shaved head. Every time I look at my license picture I shudder. I very much dislike that Andrea actually brought up the fact that my hair was falling out because "of my health problems". My hair was falling out in the bowl at the salon. It didn't just start happing over night. Not cool. Say I messed up I'm sorry. Don't go blaming someone else for your mistakes. I think that's the worst part of it all. She took what I said to her in a general convo and threw back at me. Its an easy way out. If your going to come here. I recommend booking with the the actual owner to avoid any mistakes. read more

I have reviewed this business before but that was 3 years ago, prior to their renovation and I have also recently been making use of more of their services. I took my son in last week for a cut with Andrea (we usually see Shay but she wasn't available) and I was very happy; we all know getting a little boy's hair cut is not the funnest chore on ot list but Andrea was so engaging and high energy that he just thought he was a prince with all the attention he got, not to mention his haircut was awesome! I also recently saw Shay again for my color and I have to point out how important I think it is that she is always up to date with the new techniques, I bought her a picture and she knew right away that it was an ombre technique and in no time, I had a new look that turned out perfectly! I also took time to see their new esthetician, Annette, who was wonderful... beautiful brows and really took the time to make everything perfect, not hurried at all. I've tried many salons through out Chicago land areas, but when a friend recommened me to Salon Lorrene I figured it would be another fad salon. It def. was not, and by far the best experience. I had a haircut and dye with Vannessa, who is AMAZING at everything she does. She was very current with the styles, and does exactly what you want. The only thing that I did not really like was the rude receptionist, and the salon should work on that. Other then that everyone else is very friendly and work together as team members! I was at the Salon a couple weeks ago and Shay did such an amazing job. The hairstylist I had before messed up my hair and when I went in by Shay she told me what needed to be done. But wasn't sure how well the foil would pick-up. I was so nervous and it being my wedding in 2months freaked me out even more. Once I was washed and noticed the AMAZING job she did I was so happy with the turn out and her amazing work. My hair is back to normal. I will be continuing to go to her to keep up this great looking hair. Also, the salon was such an awesome atmosphere and all the girls there were so nice and friendly.
