Love the vibe here. I've been searching for someone who can cut my hair in such a way that it air dries nicely. Danielle is AMAZING. She takes the time to ask me question about my hair that may help her with the cut. She makes sure I know exactly what she's going to do before she does it, and most importantly she asks and cares about what's most important to me. I honestly have found my forever stylist. I don't think she does kids cuts on a regular basis, but I brought my 5 year old with me during my latest haircut and Danielle did an amazing job with her, too!! I was so frustrated with the outcome of my highlights I had done at all the PREVIOUS SALONS I've used.. Then, I found Salon Lorrene. When Aubrey looked at my hair she could see the frustration on my face, and said, "You're hair won't look like this when I'm done." I had immediate confidence in her abilities and skills. Aubrey was 100% correct. My hair finally had real, beautiful, blonde highlights. My hair was so amazing, and all I could do was smile and thank her so much! I asked if she also cuts hair, and she said, "Yes." My new favorite Salon is "Solan Lorrene." I absolutely love this place. Aubrey told me that all of the Employees receive the same exact training from the Owner upon hire. All Hair Artists use the same Techniques and won't be hired if they don't pass training. So I have high confidence in all their Employees!!! From the moment I entered and stepped up to the Welcome Desk to Check-in, I received the most friendly and professional service ever!!! As for price, my last desparate service was simply going to a Hair Cuttery. That was the first and last time I will ever use a Hair Cuttery. Hair Cuttery charged me $180 for Highlights and I walked out the same way I walked in. My Hair was still all brown on top with very few highlights. Salon Lorrene's price was close to the same price. Go figure. We all know Hair Cuttery is a chain and there's no training. Nor has any of the other places I've used. Needless to say... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND SALON LORRENE to everyone!!! They do more than Hair too. They have every service one could imagine and there were plenty of men getting haircuts while I was there. So that says a lot about their Prices. Excellent service! Scheduled the day before for a consultation regarding the possibility to donate to Wigs for Kids. Michelle helped me set up the consultation and haircut for this morning. Everyone was welcoming and easy to talk too. Place looked clean and modern. My hair stylist, Danielle was awesome! Her professionalism and helpful suggestions made the whole experience more relaxing than it had any right to be! I was recommended by a friend to come here and after hesitation, I did. I lost my hairstylist a few years ago and have been in search of a good one ever since. I am so glad i came here! I scheduled an appointment and they took me in. They have nice long hours so you're able to come in the evening (some salons don't). I was hooked with Shannon. I told her what i wanted done, showed her some pictures and then we discussed what dead ends i have (which were a lot). I ended up cutting about 3 inches at least. It hurt, but i knew i had to do it. I knew i was in good hands when she explained and answered all of my questions. I went to get my hair washed and the person that washed my hair also gave me a head massage! It was a pleasant surprise! We then went to get my cut done. I asked Shannon about styling my hair different ways and she showed me and walked me through some ways. She was awesome. Lots of people tell me how easy it is and expect me to learn from that statement. Shannon showed me and slowed it down to make sure i understood what she was doing (we were putting in curls/waves). I scheduled another appointment for a trim 3 months from now with her. I never do that! But, i think i found my new permanent hair stylist! Woot!! This is a great salon, it's clean and organized. Zero respect for peoples time. After arriving on time, I was made to wait 45 mins before color was applied for a routine root touch up. They take on multiple clients at the same time - hopping from client to client during your appointment. A 1.5 hour appointment turned into 3+ hours. If you're going to take on that many clients at a time at least have the capacity to properly manage and ensure quality service or at least let your clients know ahead of time. Update- Months later, my brows still aren't back to normal. So annoyed. Came here a few weeks ago for my eyebrows and it was the worst experience ever. I've left a review on Facebook but didn't get an acknowledgement so I'll post it here. I got to my car and started crying immediately when I looked in the mirror. My brows were so botched I didn't know what to do. There was no more hair left on the ends and they were so spotty. I've also NEVER had a reaction to wax like that either. 3 days later it was still red. The esthetician should've focused more on my brows than chomping her gum in my face and trying to see me a facial that I clearly did not want. Don't forget to take cash when you go either. You can't tip on the card but no one tells you that until AFTER you pay or unless you've been there before. Really wanted to like this place because it's so close to me but I'll drive the hour back home to get them done from here on out. read more

I'm very happy with my haircut! Kylie did a wonderful job fixing up my attempt to give myself a pandemic cut. I ended up with too much hair with very choppy layers. She was able to smooth it out and make the layers more feathery and natural. I loved it! She styled it in such a way that it was soft with no flyaways. I am really happy with it. I was also pleasantly surprised with the price, I was expecting to pay at least 20% more than I did. Really I am super happy and I'll be back. Kylie is a true professional and is a cut above any other stylist I've gone to. It seems the whole crew works well together at the salon. 5 stars! Note that the current recommendation as of this review by the CDC is to mask up regardless of vaccination status. They let people wear the mask per their preference -- not my favorite policy. I guess it's awkward to police such a thing, and the recommendation did just change last week, but still, just know that this is their policy now. Not a deal breaker for me obviously but it might be for some. read more

I have gone to this salon since it opened It is amazing! My stylist is Stacy and she is an expert at cutting my curly hair - no small feat. Additionally, she is an awesome colorist. The salon is beautiful. There are no clocks and yet appointment times are kept. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes. The reception desk staff greets you by name and are efficient and friendly. My current stylist is moving so I thought I'd give this place a try. I called to make an appointment for a haircut with someone recommended by the front desk staff. I arrived 5 minutes early and checked in. I was waiting for over an hour and never got a haircut. Mind you there is no place to sit so I was standing around awkwardly. The front desk staff tried their best to ignore me, but I checked in with them twice asking for an update only to be told 'she's almost done' both times. After an hour, I left. I find it incredible rude to be left waiting and standing around for an hour when I had an appointment, with no updates and made to feel like I was bothering the front desk when I rightly asked for an update. There are plenty of other salons around. Take your money to where your time and money will be valued. read more

This is an update to my previous post. I was very touched by the level of concern shown by Lorrene and my stylist at my dissatisfaction. They called multiple times and emailed me. When I did speak with Shannon, she was genuinely concerned and committed to making things right. This level of customer service is becoming more and more rare these days. So, I decided to make another appointment when I was due for a highlight and give them another chance. When I got there, I was greeted warmly at the front desk and Shannon and I talked about her plan for my hair. After the color/highlight was done and my hair was being dried, I could tell instantly that it looked awesome! The color was perfect; exactly what I wanted. On top of that, Kayla dried and styled my hair and it looked really good and healthy...this is a big deal to me because I don't usually like the way my hair is styled at salons. As I was leaving I told Shannon that she was stuck with me now. I'm convinced that my previous experience there was just a "one-off" and I will definitely keep coming back to Salon Lorrene. read more

I had such a weird experience here. I was referred to a specific stylist by a friend. I made an appointment online and received a confirmation. On my way to my appointment, I got caught in a rain storm and was going to be a few minutes late so I called to let them know. They told me I didn't have an appointment and the stylist I made an appointment with wasn't there. I went ahead and rescheduled for the coming up Saturday with the same stylist. On my way to the salon, I got a call saying the stylist I wanted was MIA. They kind of went into detail about how they couldn't reach her and had no idea where she was. It was strange. They asked if I wanted to use Kim instead. At this point, I was already on my way so I agreed. Kim was a delight to chat with and did a good job with my hair. The salon just came off a little wonky to me though and it was a little pricey for my liking. Kim gets 5 stars, salon gets more like a 2. read more

I am usually not a fussy customer, but I would not recommend doing the face wax with Mia. I did first time and my skin was burnt. After long debating I went again after almost 9 months..and still a very very bad experience. Got redness and pimples still 4 days later and skin is still irritated and damaged with face wax. I have been going for face wax for few years now, and this is by far the work experience ever. Not only the whole face got damaged, hair was not removed properly either ...very very upset. read more

Got a caramel balayage with Jessica on a busy Saturday morning! She did a wonderful job. I've gotten similar hair colorings before but never as light as I went this time--it was dark blonde in some places. I know dark/black hair can be tougher to work with because the bleach takes so long, but Jessica was very thorough and even while she was taking care of other clients, I never felt forgotten. My hair is extremely hard to get the perfect colors and depth....in fact no one has ever been able to do it exactly the way I wanted it....but she was able to get it PERFECT!! I took the advice of others on yelp and asked for "Shay"... I promise you - you will never go anywhere else once Shay does your hair!! The salon is very clean and everyone is wonderful there! It's 7pm on a Saturday night and I'm getting ready to go out on the town with my husband and some friends. Usually at this time of night i would be giving up and pulling my hair back into a low ponytail or a twist, or bobby pin the front section back, because it's impossible to get it to do what I want it to. Or, I would submit to my flatiron and I would end up with the front being completely flat and plastered to my head...but at least it would be straight, right? Tonight was not the case, after my first appointment with Shay I walked away with the tools (a boar bristle brush and some curl calming balm), and a few tips and tricks to try at home. I have to say, the results amazed even me. I was skeptical as always, but I followed Shay's steps and after about 15 minutes with my new brush and a hairdryer, I look like I just got a professional blowout! (and I didn't even have to use my flatiron!) I am so thrilled, not only with my haircut, but with the fact that Shay took a little extra time to help me out and give me the knowledge that I needed to recreate the look that she gave me in the salon. I literally said to Shay as I was leaving "I love it, but the test is if I can do this at home". I\'m excited to say, that I could. Her tips were so simple, but they made all the difference. The whole staff at Salon Lorrene was so nice and accommodating, thanks again for a great experience, see you all in 6 weeks when I come back for my next appointment with Shay! Oh and by the way, it turned out that we weren't just going out for dinner...my husband had planned a huge surprise party for my birthday. I went here a few weeks ago and LOVED it. I had a massage and mani/pedi and both were fantastic. My manicure lasted 5+ days, including a trip to NYC. My pedicure looks like it was done yesterday. Olga was my nail tech - she was friendly and did a great job. My only wish would be that she apply more muscle with the massage part of the job, it felt like she was just rubbing her hands up and down my arms/hands and legs/feet. However, I cannot complain too much because I was coming from a hour massage and was already relaxed and knot-free. I'm spacing on the name of the woman that did my massage - I want to say her name started with an M - but she was fabulous. I will definitely go back when I'm out in the area. She worked all the right areas without hurting me, and knew right away that I sit at a desk a lot and that one of my legs is stronger than the other. Weird, but true. This is a full service salon and I think it would be a lot of fun to do a spa day out here with girlfriends. There is plenty of space for everyone to have a service done at the same time - and there is plenty of parking. It is a bit spendy, but hey! You're worth it! read more

She told me about her stylist in Palatine...how perfect because I had just moved to Palatine 6 months earlier. I've been seeing her (now my) stylist Kylie for over a year and can't get over how skilled she is! From the way she listens to what I want, attention to detail in the pictures I show her, to the way she even washes my hair...my results every time have been EXACTLY what I wanted.
