I live in the area and was looking to get a blowout before a date on a Friday. The reviews for the salon were great and I was happy to find it out was 5 minutes away. I booked a blowout with Emily for 4:30. Around mid-day she let me know she had a cancellation and was able to see me sooner. I moseyed on over to the salon around 3:30 and was welcomed by the team at the salon. Emily came out to greet me and we were off to the races! I have 24" hand-tied extensions so I was used to folks taking an hour and a half when it came to a blowout and curling my luscious locks. Emily went to work and I was done within an hour and it looked *so* good. Little did I know my $50 blowout would also come with a comedy hour. We laughed the entire session and let me tell you, I'm an awkward introvert but Emily is such a welcoming presence, I felt comfortable sharing my dark sense of humor from the get-go. I'm have been seeing Wendy for my haircut and highlights for about a year now. I enjoy getting my hair done by her and the prices are decent for this area. Wendy is talented and we always have a good conversation. There is parking within the parking lot of the small strip mall. Never had any issues with that. read more

Very punctual..this is a big one to me. The staff are all so very friendly. The owner was on site and was friendly to everyone. The salon was recently updated and it's just beautiful. Prices are overwhelmingly fair. Emily spent over 2 hours on a foil color weave on my hair -I was a special challenge wanting 3 colors. She worked so hard and efficiently, but made it look easy. Don't know how she was able to have the great conversation we had, with how hard she was working. Cannot recommend this salon enough. Why was I paying so much, for so much less (in every way) elsewhere? So glad I gave you guys a try! You are my salon now. read more

I have been a client of Summers (co owner) for about 3 or 4 years, I can't remember. I started with her when she was at the old salon, and now have followed her here. As a Salon as a whole, the place is great! The location is good, the place is very cute, and all of the girls there are sweet and professional. Summer is the only hairdresser I have stuck with for more than a year because she really knows what she is doing. I used Ali Harris (at Salon Ninetynine) for 8 years - And I absolutely LOVED her! I am very particular with my hair and Ali was the first stylist to earn my trust and long-term loyalty.  If you are trying to grow your hair out or have slow growing hair, Ali is your girl! She never cut mine shorter than I asked. Some stylist are scissor happy and chop the length off to THEIR preference, not YOURS. But Ali always listened and delivered EXACTLY what I ask for. Even when I wasn't quite sure what I wanted, she helped me figure it out and brought my vague visions to life. I used her for everything... Cuts, Color, highlights, balayage, and color correcting (after a few at-home dye disasters spiraled out of control.) She found ways to save the hair I thought I'd surely ruined. And she's taught me a lot to keep me from making more mistakes in the future. I've had stylists that are great with hair, but not-so-great with people... Ali is talented with both, so my salon experience was always positive. I felt completely at ease and the conversation was never awkward. My time in the chair always flew by. It's really hard to find a good stylist who listens to you, doesn't over charge and knows what they're doing. I've lived in Portland for 3 years now and had not found a good one until now. I just started going to Salon Ninety Nine after I asked a friend of mine (who has gorgous hair by the way) where she went. I have had my hair cut and colored twice by Summer and I love this place! Let me tell you, I have found my salon and stylist, no reason to go anywhere esle! I've been coloring my hair since I was in high school... a very long time ago ... and I've never recieved so many compliments on my hair! I LOVE the color and the cut. Summer is great. She's so sweet and personable. In fact, the last time I went I was 30 minutes late and stressing out big time.... She was just patiently waiting for me WITH a glass of wine waiting when I got there! How great is that? This is a 'classic' salon, not a "Portland froofroo" place that only uses organic seaweed whatever BS is popular and upsells you on crap you don't need. They love product, big hair and know how to treat their clients right. The atmosphere is fun and relaxed too, not upity at all. Was a customer here for many years till my last appointment was canceled for no reason and was never rescheduled!!!!! Very extremely poor customer service here if you ask me have not been back since and have never received any calls to why I don't come it for a hair cut!!! Was a cut for about 18 years and now go elsewhere to get my hair cut all over an appointment being cancelled and not reschedule at all!!!! First I would like to say that I love this salon. It has cute decor with snacks and coffee and really makes you feel warm and fuzzy. The staff is welcoming and friendly which is always a plus. Second I would like to say Ali is not only a hair stylist but a certified magician. I thought I had a pretty far fetch dream about what I wanted my hair to look like and being told previously from another salon it was virtually impossible..
