When is getting your "flower" waxed ever pleasant? Never! But, if it's done well it can make you go back for more. I've been seeing Pervana for years! She's the only woman allowed to touch my girly spots. I'm not going to lie, waxing hurts like a bitch, but it's worth it. Smooth like a baby's bottom! Be prepared though, Pervana will pluck out the stray hairs 1 by 1 and she will dig out ingrown hairs with a (sterile) needle and make you bleed. Girlfriend is thorough. "No pain, no gain." Before Pervana I tried several places... All places claiming to know what a Brazilian was, but none did. One place took a little off the top and sides, then said "OK, you done." I literally laughed. What about the stuff in between? What about my ass!?! (I won't go into anymore detail, no need to be graphic *hee hee*) Pervana knows what a Brazilian is. Maybe it helped that I told her I'm Brazilian and I wanted to visit my native country and lay on the beach looking like the other hot babes. She just giggled and was probably thinking "Girl, you need more than just hair removal for that!" Never the less, I finally got what I had been looking for... A Brazilian! Thank you, Pervana! Contrary to all the reviews on Rachel for Lash extensions there is no perfect person. The reason I had decided to try her was because of the great reviews I read about her. Had I known and paid close attention to my gut feeling about her I'd a NEVER gone through with the hole process. From the beginning very stand off kind of woman. Cold. Unprofessional. No emotion from her upon our first greet. I didn't trip, I figured everyone has their days. She takes me into her "spa" room. Dirty walls and floor. Uncomfortable bed (which you have to lay on for one to two hours per treatment) the blanket on the table left lint all over my clothes. The first thing she said to me was "I don't know why you want to have lashes you have alot already, most my clients that come to me have barely any lashes" For the record, I could care less about your other clients genetic issues. I could care less as well about you questioning why I want to do this. Professionally speaking you don't ever question a customers on why they want to purchase your product. Unless they've talked about past bad experiences or allergic reactions which I hadn't. Finally after that awkward moment with her I thought let's just get this over with. My first experience was ok. I thought maybe she'd talk me through what she was doing but...no she was mute and I just felt everything she did. I should have known better that's what I keep telling myself! Ugh.. Second experience went for a refill spoke with her for 15 minutes as she lectured me on "not wanting to waste my money as 3 week only not enough time for refill your lashes still look good you see my other client they not look as good as yours" again, it is none, absolutely none of your concern how i spend my money what I spend my money on and what my decisions are in life. So I agreed with her and r/s for the following week for a clean with her "Strong chemicals " as she calls it and a new fill. Third appointment with Rachel came. Got there on time she see's me, doesn't acknowledge me with a professional greeting like a hello - she goes directly to her phone. When done with her phone call she then makes eye contact stating "it'll be a minute my last client is just changing " again, no hello, nice to see you or welcome back nothing. So I finally get back. Lay down and want to get this over with. I chose the mink this time she says ok lay down and I'll clean your lashes. I say; and then we'll do the mink lash correct? She looks at me, yes I remember what you said the last time. Seriously ruud. Just plain ruud. I was so distraught this time I couldn't even fall asleep this time. I was tearing heavily after the cleaning and she stated that's very normal... Kept tearing even while she was placing the new lashes. At this point she was wiping them away. Finished the entire damn process and after both were just burning and tearing. 15 minutes later she strongly suggests that I remove them for my safety that my eye is "too sensitive and that her glue is just too aggressive even though it's approve by FDA" I have to then go through another cleaning process with more burning and by the time I'm done, my regular beautiful lashes were unbelievable short my eyelids looked burnt and my hole eyes on the inside were extremely red. Long story short I ended up with an infection had to go to the er.. As I walked out of her spa room she said "there's the door" still contemplating on what further action I'm going to take. 5 Stars I've been coming to Parvaneh for years to clean up my eyebrows.....been to a few different spots, but she is easily the best. She was trained in Italy and has been doing this for so long, she can do a better job w/ her eyes closed than a lot of other people that do this for a living. My hairstylist is Alan Vu and he's been styling my hair for the last 12 years or so. I've followed him to 3 different salons and have landed at Salon Salon. The crew that he's worked with over the years is also at this salon so there are lots of familiar faces. I've seen Alan cut hair for many people in the bay area. Perhaps his biggest clientele are other Asian females. Because he's also Asian, he really knows what to do with Asian hair. Over the years, he's given me almost every style known to woman. From a bleach blond short messy cut, to a bob, to the "Jennifer Aniston", to a body wave, to just long and straight with highlights. I've also worn my hair every color except green or blue. Alan is really good at letting you experiment with different looks that work for you. He's also pretty honest about what won't work for you, so take his advice. He has great technique for coloring and highlighting. He always does a fantastic job at coloring and finds the right color balance to complement your skin tone. He knows when a color will make you look washed out, tired, or not age-appropriate. He also uses color products that are safe on your hair so you don't have to worry about damage. Alan is also very meticulous and won't let you walk out a hair out of place. Alan is also fashionable and easy going. He's always up on the latest trends so you can trust that he won't make you look outdated (unless that's what you're going for). Alan is patient and doesn't talk your ear off. He's good at conversing when you feel like conversing, but he's also very spiritual. The products that he uses are always the best, and he changes them up regularly as new and better ones come on the market. Sometimes when I need a bang trim, he lets me walk in and does it for free. As a matter of fact, he discouraged me from trimming them myself and just asked me to come in any time I needed. There's one thing that Alan has absolutely refused to do for me: perm and color my hair at the same time. He really looks out for the health of your hair. I "cheated" on him once and went to another stylest to get my hair permed and colored....boy, was that a mistake. It really damaged my hair and it took years to recover from. I've also recommended many friends to Alan and each one has been very happy with his work. I normally recommend Alan because people will often compliment my hair color or style. This salon is clean, spacious, and has an espresso bar for those who need a fix while getting their hair done. It's in a convenient location near Valleyfair mall with its own parking lot. The only thing I wish they'd add is free wifi so I can do some work while I'm spending 3 hours there at a time. read more

I've been going to see Tim at Salon Salon for over a year now. My sister on the other hand has been going to see Tim for ages. My sister's hair always looks perfect and she's actually recommended Tim to a lot of her friends. They will actually drive all the way from Berkeley to get their hair cut here. I've had haircuts, coloring, and highlights from Tim and have been satisfied everytime. I'm usually not too sure if I like it the day I get it cut (which is normal for me), but the day after I like it a lot. The only down side is the cost. I can't go get my haircut/colored as often as I would like...if I did, I would be living in my car. Living in my car with a cute haircut that is. I'm new to eye lash extensions, but i've gotten it done once before for my bday weekend. It was a horrible experience, but seeing all the reviews here i decided to give it a second try by coming to this place. I'm someone who doesn't wear make up or falsies often unless it's for a special occasion. I was going to attend a few christmas parties so i wanted to look good without dealing with fake lashes. You know the feeling right? Sometimes i could get it to work on one eye and not the other without messing up my eye make up. The price here is fairly decent without breaking the bank. Depending if you're getting the promo they can range from $50-70 which to me is worth it since it can last up to a month. I've been to salons where they do extensions but for few hundred dollars. I ain't got money for that! lol My first set; not going to lie the first few days were difficult. My eyes stung at random times but it was like once a day kind of thing. (keep in mind i don't wear make up) By the first week they felt like nothing. I was getting comfortable with them. Here and there they would itch especially on the right side for me. I noticed some were close to the waterline. So for me i'm guessing i'm more sensitive i started to itch it. (BAD THING TO DO) so of course i had fall out, but my eye lashes still looked great for the most part. Rachel was the one who did my lashes and she was very thorough and sweet. She listened to what i wanted. The refill process was shorter. It didn't hurt, but at times my eyes was twitching. It was just very minor irritation. Anyways getting lash extensions is serious business because you need to take care of your eyes. Cleaning it and brushing it is important to keep your eyes prone to infection and for them to stay on. She did tell me if i didn't do the procedures every day to up keep my lashes than i might not be able to continue refilling because my lashes are very new (babies) I prob damaged my own when i was scratching and pulled out some! UH OH, haha. For me my first set only took 2 hrs and they are proportioned to my eyes, and they curl up. The refill took about an hour and a half. For the refill she took awhile by removing the bad ones. My overall experience is very good. They lasted about 2.5 weeks before i went to get a refill only because i didn't follow the procedures to a T. Hope this helps :) read more

I am a black woman (which means I have to go someplace else to get my hair straightened/flat ironed) and what I like about the salon is that they 1. Didn't look at me like I made a mistake when I walked in t he door. LOL! Everyone was super friendly!! 2. Pri is so precise with the hair cuts and she always gives me a super cute cut that MOVES. From now on Sherwin is the only person who is allowed to cut my hair-EVER! I am very particular about who I will allow to cut my hair. A bad hair day is about the worst thing that could ever happen to me. So after having my hair colored in SF, I trek all the way back down to San Jose so that Sherwin can cut and style my hair into perfection. Yes... I am aware that I should conserve gas but I'm contemplating a Prius just to ensure that no one but Sherwin ever cuts my hair. He's an artist with a pair of scissors. He listens to your vision and adds his own expertise to the mix and the result is the perfect cut for your hair type and face shape. He is the first stylist I have ever encountered that really listens to what look you are going for and works with the challenges and tries to make it happen for you. I have naturally lifeless hair and I jokingly told him that my dream hair was that big wavy curly seventies look. He magically layered and styled my hair into big bountiful curls the likes of which I thought I'd never see in the mirror. Later when I wanted a more clean preppy look to go with my new blond color, he gave me the cleanest little A-line cut with side swept bangs and I loved-loved-loved it. I've been getting my hair cut by Hide for 20 years! He is the absolute best. When I moved to San Francisco, I looked for someone new because I didn't want to make the trek down to San Jose. Hide even recommended his friend in the city for me! Never again. HIDE IS THE BEST. He listens to what you want and cuts conservatively because you can always ask for it to be shorter (but not the other way around obviously). He discusses with you how to style your hair, what styles work best for the amount of effort you want to put into maintaining it, etc. Most importantly, he cuts hair in a way where I can truly wash and go. Other haircuts have me leaving the salon with fabulous hair, but once I wash it at home, I can never get it back. Hide cuts in a way that I can wash my hair and let it air dry, and it looks like it did when I left the salon. I will continue going to Hide for as long as I can. I hope to never have to find anyone else to cut my hair! read more

Rachel was recommended to me by my best friend's sister. Rachel is EXTREMELY knowledgeable, easy going, friendly, and very attentive. She makes sure that you're comfortable, and that you're getting exactly what you want. I love that Rachel is willing to make herself available via phone or email as well for any questions or concerns that you might have. Rachel will always be very honest about what realistic expectations you should have for your lashes (appearance, longevity, etc) and also very honest about what is good for you. She also charges an VERY competitive price. She does promotions every now and then, and let's just say what I paid would have gotten me the equivalent of a fill at one of those ritzy places that charge $300 for a full set. The lashes Rachel did for me lasted significantly longer than the lashes I got done last summer, maybe by a week or two. She's not lying when she says she uses amazing glue. I've had 1 fill since I've started seeing her, and am tempted to keep going rather than taking a break ... but it's all dependent on what Rachel thinks is best and whether my lashes can handle it. I scheduled an appointment with Yong after I purchased a groupon. I am so happy that I did. Yong was prompt in scheduling an appointment with me, and was so accommodating with my narrow availability. From the moment I sat in the shampoo chair, I already felt comfortable. Yong used massaging techniques on my scalp. It was definitely a treat! I showed Yong a picture of what I was looking for and I got what I asked for... if not better. She paid very close attention to what she was doing, insuring that all of the layers were well blended. She also made sure the layers flattered my facial frame! I'm sure that if he stuck to exactly what was in the photo, it wouldn't be as flattering. She is a legit stylist. I love Co. A lot. She's been doing my (very difficult!) hair since I was 5, and my mom's for longer than that--and I will keep going to her forever. I got my hair cut a few times by different people when I moved out of the area, and they were fine, but I keep coming back to Co. My favorite part is her honesty: if she knows a style or color won't look good on you, she'll tell you flat-out... and she probably won't do it to your hair. And she's usually right! I have just found the most awesome hairstylist ever - Tim Cheng at Salon Salon. I had been tolerating poor haircuts for years, some expensive, some not so much. I had given up hope of ever finding a stylist with talent, but Tim is truly an artist with hair. My hope has always been not for a specific style, but just my own hair with a cut that takes advantage of its good qualities and minimizes its bad ones. Search no more. Best haircut ever by Tim Cheng!! I am quite picky when it comes to my hair, have been to over a dozen hairdressers in my life, and had yet to find one who perfectly understood what I was looking for and at the same time made sure he would customize the cut to suit my face, my features. I felt like a canvas in the hands of an artist. And did I mention, that I had waited over half a year because my last hairdresser had completely messed up my layers so my hair was just begging to be saved. Tim listened, never rushed, and took the time to teach me how to care for and style my hair on my own. He does not push you into buying his products like some others do, but he believes in them and it's hard not to when you see the results. His passion and energy for what he does shine through. She is so friendly, you'll feel as if you've been friends with her for years. She's had over 2 decades of experience, yet she is still so passionate and humble about her work. I've been to Salon Salon twice now. I was referred to Co by a friend/stylist and I couldn't be happier! As another reviewer commented, Co will not tell you what you WANT to hear, she will tell you what you NEED to hear! I've been box-coloring my hair for years, and she convinced me that while it might look good for a couple weeks, the long term damage would result in a look that I wasn't going to like over time. So I bit the bullet a few weeks ago, she colored my hair a deep, rich brown, using some of the red from my previous color and I am ECSTATIC. I have gotten so many compliments on the color AND cut...from both men and women. We chose the perfect shade together. She also is very honest about what products to use and steers you to those that you can afford. And finally...she fun to chat with and a very down to earth person; we clicked immediately and I'm so glad that I found her. Make an appointment; you won't be sorry! read more

Too much money and time for less than spectacular results. Got my hair highlighted and cut from a man with stained from hair dye, armani exchange jeans. I forgot his name at this point - but there are others that love love love this guy (he's a tall Viet guy, with a slight accent but otherwise very friendly.)
