First time here at this salon. Such a beautiful place right in downtown Fullerton. Comfy seating while crystal washed. Cut. And styled my hair ! I went in not knowing anything, or what or how I wanted my hair done. She was very informative, polite, and sweet. Crystal gave me tips, tricks. and even some reccomendations for what I could do with my hair and style. I've seen her work , cuts and color I can honestly say she'll be my GO to from now on. I came in for a last minute trim and was surprised by how many openings they had for same day appointments. When I called to book the appointment, the woman on the phone didn't bother to tell me who would be working on my hair or how much it would cost, even though I was a new client. It ended up being a little more than $50 before tip, which isn't that unreasonable, but for a very basic trim I probably would have gone somewhere cheaper had I know the price beforehand. I found it a unprofessional that my stylist would make comments about what my previous stylist probably did wrong when coloring my hair. These comments were pure conjecture, as my hair has grown out to its natural color, and even if my previous stylist had done a poor job (which she didn't) I always find it to be in extremely poor taste to rag on other professionals in your field. However, the stylist here was helpful in other ways. She gave me a few styling tips and told me up front that paying with card would be more expensive that with cash. I paid the stylist through an app on her phone rather than paying at the desk up front, which I found to be a little odd, but perhaps that is what everyone is doing these days. In a pinch I wouldn't mind coming here again-- the location is good and the inside of the salon isn't terrible either--but I doubt I would become a regular here. read more

I am leaving this review just in case anyone is thinking of purchasing a gift certificate. Since the manager did not reply to my recommendation I just want to give everyone a heads up so this does not happen to them. A gift certificate was purchased for me a while back and I thought I lost it until recently. When I called to see if they uphold their old gift certificates the manager informed me most likely no but asked me to text message her a photo of the gift certificate and she would let me know exactly why. She said that the paid gift certificate was issued by an employee who is no longer with the company and not issued by the salon so the salon will not redeem it, but that I could find the employee and try to redeem it by her wherever she is. And keep in mind she said this even though the gift certificate was purchased for services at that salon. This is really unfortunate because my mother paid $125.00 and nothing will be done. I think it is completely dishonest for a company to issue any type of gift certificate/card that is not guaranteed by the company. Especially with the laws that are in place to protect consumers from these deceitful practices. And the fact that salons tend to have high turnover rates, it is even more important to inform the customer before purchasing a gift card of its restrictions. I am completely turned off by this salon and their unethical practices. I hope no one else gets swindled this way. read more

This review is for Caitlin. My twin sister and I have been using Caitlin for a couple years now and have be extremely happy with her work. We usually get a blonde partial weave or full weave and she does it perfect every time. In the past, at other salons i used to go my hair would either turn out a little on the orange side or just not happy with the customer service they would provide. She leaves my hair the perfect Golden Blonde that I love. Caitlin is also very fun to talk to and listens to what you want. She is very sweet and talented and I would recommend her to all my friends and family. I have been to her about a dozen times now and I will continue to go to her. I walked into this salon knowing how professional and experienced all the stylists were because I knew someone who worked here a long time ago. I was a bit afraid to do a walk in because it was a couple months right after COVID-19 lockdown and a place like this I feel would be picky with their walk-ins considering the circumstances. Claire took me fortunately and did an amazing job cutting my hair just the thing is she charged me an extra $5 to cut my thick hair. Why? Just why? I have latina thick wavy brown hair and every hairstylist I've had never had a problem with it. Don't do that again, Claire, it was rude. I've been to Salon Technique a couple times and I always left satisfied! My last appointment was with Doug O'Connell, who is nothing less than amazing! I'm a little bit on the quiet side but he made my appointment enjoyable. I showed up early but he was able to take me in right when I had arrived. He's easy to talk to, which made the long process easy and tolerable (which is a big thing for me since I hate just sitting there quietly as each minute creeps by slowly) and he knows his stuff! He was able to assess my hair, asked me what look I wanted to achieve and made the results happen while maintaining the integrity of my hair. He listens to his clients and will always give his clients his honest opinion. What really helped out was the communication prior to the appointment. This really assisted in Doug being prepared for my appointment so he knew what to expect and, in return, achieve the look I wanted. If you want a hairstylist that will be honest with you but also try his best to achieve the look you want while maintaining the health of your hair, Doug's your guy! read more

Honestly, i wouldnt give a single star if it were an option. First of all, she was late to the appointment i booked. I came in, asking for shaved sides and bettie bangs, all fine and good, pretty simple youd think. WRONG!!!! Clair COMPLETELY BUTCHERED my hair. at first glance (horrible salon lighting) it looked alright. but when i got home to take a look for myself.. oh god. My sides were shaved at about 3 different, patchy lengths. babyhairs everywhere, chopped off patches and I even watched her reaction as she cut a huge chunk of my hair in the back as a "layer" (i use the term lightly because it was literally, a huge chunk cut straight acrossed, about 3 inches shorter than all the other layers. does NOT blend at all. she did ZERO parting, very very messy. I asked for edgy, as in precision, especially the sides and bangs. So, for $70 I got a nightmare of a "haircut" So, I took myself down the street to Barbarians barber shop to my new hairdresser when i was then told that Claire did a total hackjob not worth $70 , and the barbers there said they felt bad for me for getting so ripped off and basically taken advantage of (but i already knew it was a disaster). I had my hair completely re-done (beautifully !!!) for 15$. FIFTEEN DOLLARS. So, i text clair and I explained to her nicely that i appreciate her service, however the haircut was done poorly and that id like at least half of my money back. she told me "absolutely not". she said that i am a "bad person", "Karma will find you", "dont blame me for whatever is going on in your life", among other things. she swore up and down that my complaint had nothing to do with the haircut and basically tried saying that i just didnt like her as a person and was out to get her. I spoke to the woman at the front desk and after explaining my situation she told me that all of the hairdressers guarantee their work. apparently not Claire. I feel completely taken advantage of, i am 18 and claire is 50 something and is said to have 30 years of experience under her belt, I find that very hard to believe considering she completely F**ked my hair and ran with the money. at the end of it all Claire completely disrespected me, ripped me off and got away with it. everything that i told her meant nothing and at the end she basically treated me like i was crazy for not liking her hackjob she then additionally and sarcastically told me "may god bless you and fill your holy spirit". Not only that, but she was quite rude during my haircut and hardly said a word to me. at the end she just shook my hair around for about 10 mins straight to try and cover all the mistakes she had made, and sent me on my way. This is how she does business, carelessly, unfairly and hastily. This was my first and last time at salon technique. Save your time, money and please go somewhere else. I am still out $70 because she refuses to refund me even half of my money and the salon wont even help me. read more

I saw crystal at the salon. I came in with extensions that I had in for 7 years never taking a break, on top of it I am blonde so bleach my whole life too. I was heart broken when I walked in because my hair was ruined. I had kinda known that already and was afraid of what I was going to find. I was nervous a few years ago when I began my search for someone new. A friend of mine recommended Doug and I spent over a year following him on Instagram. I was lied to and treated really badly. I don't wish this salon to anybody. It's unfortunate they aren't professional and cannot treat their customers kindly. I left this place feeling betrayed and let down. No children are allowed apparently either. Not a place I will ever return to. I witnessed a stylist hiding while pouring a Sally's brand of volume and bleach. Which is a cheap products they use. It's not quality product. But they want $200+ for the labor/product. When they are paying 6.00 for the product they are using. I'm sure any other salon will be better then this place on all levels. I will start by saying the day before my appointment I walked into the salon and talked to a tall red headed woman and let her know I wanted to have my hair bleached blond. She said no problem and they can easily do that. I asked how much it would cost worst case scenario? She replied no more than $70.00. She booked my appointment for the next day for 1pm and I requested someone with experience doing this sort of thing as I've had problems with another salon turning my hair orange. She said OH I can guarantee that won't happen here. The next day at about 12:15pm I received a text from the stylist that was going to do my hair and she asked where I was? I replied I live right down the street why did she ask? she then replied that her time on her phone was an hour off and she thought I was late. After she realized her mistake she apologized. I offered to come right then and so I did. Alysha was the one to do my hair and she asked if I had color in my hair and I said yes. She then said she wanted to use a color remover on my hair and not bleach it. I said I didn't think it was a good idea that I wanted to use bleach but she refused and starting mixing the color remover, as she was doing that I noticed her reading something on her cell phone and I asked are you reading the directions on how to use the color remover? Alysha said yes because its a complicated process. This was my first clue of how wrong things were about to go. After using the color remover on my hair it was a light orange color and she took me over to wash it out, She then proceeded to completely drench the back of my shirt. She then put bleach on my hair and after that process it made my hair a DARKER BROWN! Alysha said we will have to repeat the process of color remover and then bleach each time she washed my hair my shirt was getting wetter and my hair was getting darker or orange. After more than three hours I had enough and asked her to throw a dark brown color on my hair to at least make it look somewhat decent, she used an ash brown and I again said no I want a dark brown like the same color as her hair and she assured me it would be dark. IT ISN'T! its a light brown color. After she used the color on my hair she once again washed my hair and asked me if I wanted conditioner and I replied YES after all the bleach and chemicals that she used on my hair I thought she should use a deep conditioner on my hair. At this point Alysha replied very flippant and said they don't use conditioner on mens hair and I had nothing to worry about because she washed all the chemicals out of my hair. One last thing as I was leaving I said if I was her she should have offered to cut my hair or something. Alysha's response was she only charged my $35.00 for a color procedure that should be at least $100.00. Two things are so wrong with this 1. I didn't want any freaking color I wanted to have my hair bleached. 2. I let her know I was quoted only $70.00 for the bleaching and at this point Alysha said nobody at the front desk would ever quote prices and I let her know I certainly was quoted a price and it was worst case scenario. Some advice for management when someone comes to your salon and spends more than three hours and leaves with a soaking wet shirt and hair color I didn't want I shouldn't have been charged ANYTHING and should have been made an offer to come back to have things made right. read more

Called in for an appt last night for the next day, appt, arrived 5 mins before my appt and had been waiting for 25 mins. I see 3 ppl just chatting infront of me wearing apron so not sure whats going on. Not sure if they think I look like a bum ,wont pay good tip, i dont know. So the girl infront took me. I guess they wash your hair first then they do the hair cut. After she washed it, she didnt even bother drying it more, I was soaking wet, and when she was cutting it, water and my hair was just all over my face. I seriously was about to cry, felt mistreated, but oh well shes already cutting my hair, thinking it better be the best haircut ever. NO! it looks like she gave me a straight cut at the back when I specifically said layers , she said "we dont want to cut too much" so I thought shell finish the rest after my color, didnt have to wait 40 mins at the other place, just 20. That was it, everything was done, so I did my best I love it face, and said thank you, paid... Gave it 2 stars coz I like the color she did, and yeah she didnt even show me a color chart, I have to describe the color I wanted,,,would have appreciated if I was shown the colors theyre using on people. read more

I went to salon technique 2 weeks ago and was consulted by Valerie who is now on maternity leave. When I went in she saw my hair and told me I couldn't go any more blonde due to the damage. Cool no problem. I went in today with medium copper hair and all I wanted was a balyage. I didn't want to lighten it since it was already light, so I asked to only darken the top to a medium brown. (My roots were 1 inch grown out, so I just wanted to dye my base to something I could maintain instead of having to constantly bleach my roots.) Rosa S. was the only person available today, and I wasn't being too picky especially since the salon gets so many good reviews. I told her I wanted to dye my base a medium brown and leave bits of the hair that was already lightened alone so that it could look like a balyage. I began to get nervous when I noticed she began to drag the base color down with a comb. In the middle of this a toddler who was the salon with his mother got a little fussy, and she said, "gosh! Somebody shut that baby up". I gave her a blank stare, and she said, "sorry, do you have kids?" And I said, "NO, I'm guessing you don't either". Then she said she had just gotten pregnant. Awkward! Everything went sour after that. Soon after, we went to the rinsing station, and she ran water so hot through my head, steam was coming out. I said "oh, oh. That's hot" . She looked annoyed as heck and said "really?!?you must be sensitive". Umm, do you not see the steam? I sat in the chair and she said "how's it looking?" My whole hair looked almost a solid color. She made the base a light brown, and even colored the bottom with a light hand. There isn't much of a separation. I said..." Umm, you dyed so much, it basicAlly solid." Rosa: well it looks better than what you had." Me: "Right, but this isn't what I wanted". Was this lady really trying to tell me that just because it was better I should have been satisfied? She covered SO much of my hair that my (recent) previous bleach job went to waste. It took so long to lighten my hair, and she darkened it! When my boyfriend got to the salon, she repeated with her snarky remarks by saying, " I don't know what you wanted it looks better than what you had. I couldn't have done a balyage because we would have had to bleach the bottom". Balyage is not just blonde and brown or blonde and black. I came in with hair light enough where if she would have just dyed the top it would have looked contrast to the ends. I didn't say much, but I was clearly unhappy. She then offered to bleach the bottom. Why would you want to do that!!!? I'm not a hair dresser, but that would have been the wrong way to go. I came in with medium copper hair and she had basically darkened it and wanted to re bleach!?!? Yea, no I'm not about to go home crying with fallen hair. She DID only charge me for the product she used, and I was ok with that. After all she did spend her time and product. Not in something I wanted, but I will give her that. I'm really upset at her lack of professionalism. She did what SHE wanted to do. Not cool. Learn to listen to your clients, and have a better attitude. I was so upset after that I just payed her $50, and left. Also, in the beginning, I mentioned to her that I noticed Briana and Robin had gotten a lot of positive reviews and customers seemed pleased with them, and she said. "Yea, I feel that if you ask customers to give you good reviews they'll do it". HATER!!!!! read more

This review is for Jessica. She was nice and talkative but man she messed up my hair BAD!!!!!!!!! I walked out of the salon with hair more orange than a effin carrot!!!! I was so upset, I clearly told her I DID NOT WANT ORANGE HAIR! and when I messaged her to fix it she tried to tell me I had to pay full price again for her to fix her own mistake. With absolutely NO kindness. Eww what a nasty person. I ended up toning my own hair and made it a bit better, but I'm still rocking a carrot head. After my girl of 11 years moved away I asked for a qualified stylist. What I got was a stylist that was new to the salon. I gave her a chance but she ruined my hair. She was so incredibly sweet but she has no business working on hair if she did this to me. She over bleached it and I have had to chop it off just to get it to stop looking like straw. I will not call her out by name because she was so nice but the salon should be more careful with referring people that don't even have longevity at the salon for them to know their work. I've been here on three separate occasions and I have never had a problem until the most recent time I came in. I had Robin and she burned the top of my head. I told her my head was burning after she had my hair in foil under the dryer and I could feel my head burning. She told me that "that's normal" and that people actually blister on their head. For real? I've never heard that before in my life nor have I ever experienced it. She forgot my water too while I was under the dryer. She was quiet and didn't really seem to make an effort to converse (the other stylists/colorists were talkative and friendly last time).
