Sal's has all the ambiance of a great casual Mexican restaurant. Great service! We stumbled onto the place because of the charging station nearby and boy, did we luck out! I had an a la crate Fish taco and my husband had the Original Combination. Everything was delicious. The fish taco was served open face to show off the pretty piece of fish. Ive been to Sals twice this month after not going for 2 years. I must say the food was excellent and better than I remember. The Beans, Rice, Chips, and Salsa I think are the best in Madera. Love the Chili Con Carne plate as well as Carne Asada and Shredded Beef Tacos. Sals is now our favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

Went there late but we called ahead of time to make sure it was ok we come in 30min before close. Girls were nice, place was ok, not super clean and they have carpet (a big no no for me). Good food but Fresno's Sals is way better. Better portions Chips and salsa come with the to go orders, just like your served when in the restaurant, Madera charges over 5 bucks for chips and salsa on to go orders . My last order from Madera was half the size I've always gotten on my James special. You get two corn tortillas in Madera, Fresno you get three. I came to Sal's in Madera with my co-workers and boss to celebrate my 25th birthday on 12/5/17. My boss being a Madera native informed us that Sal's is very popular and recommend we come here. I am so happy she recommended us to this restaurant because they were so accommodating. They allowed us to bring my birthday cake from Menchie's that was gifted to me from my amazing co workers. The menu has a huge selection and variety for each taste bud. I ordered the Full fancy burrito which is a delicious wet burrito with Chile Verde pieces. My boss did not lie! This place was packed for sure. We all had a lovely time and our waiter was so attractive! The staff came out and sung happy birthday to me....along with my co workers. I felt really special, I received a free virgin daiquiri which was delicious. They gave us plates and huge knife so I could cut the cake, which they went above and beyond about! They even joked about grabbing a slice. The decor is beautiful! On 12/14/17 my co-workers and my boss return and my boss took down our order so when we arrived our food would be there waiting for us. So we get there and was promptly seated, we all came in with these large gifts since we were doing a secret Santa among all 7 of us. I decided to get the 2 item combo of Chile Rellano and chicken taco, so goood!!!! It also came with beans and rice, a must try. We had the same server from my birthday celebration and my co workers felt he was flirting with me heavily which made me turn pink haha gotta love women especially my bold co workers. Once again Sal's is the place to for large events they are very accommodating and friendly. This is my go to spot in Madera for Mexican food since I am here and don't have to worry about the language barrier, an 5 star restaurant for sure! read more

I've been to some of the finest dining establishments that are ten times the price and I still choose to come here. We both had a two-item combination plates, and everything was so delicious! My pork chile verde burrito was perfect, the meat was tender and flavorful. The tamale was large, and our waitress asked upon serving it if I wanted warm enchilada sauce on top. The beef taco was huge and delicious, and the chicken enchilada was full of shredded chicken breast. Our server Angela was so attentive, and when she left for break, she let us know. The waiter who took over knew we wanted to place an order before we left, and he asked if we wanted our leftover chips bagged up. We thanked the manager on the way out for an overall wonderful experience, and my sweetie left a huge tip. We look forward to returning once we're hungry again! read more

Although we live out of the area we try to eat at Sal's whenever we are near Madera, which is a few times a year. Over the years the food is always excellent, the service prompt and friendly, and the prices great. This is one of our very favorite Mexican restaurants. read more

Chips and salsa are great. They're usually always crowded. So sometimes you have a little bit of a wait. But all the food is very tasty and good. This is the 2nd time eating here. Both orders were takeout due to Covid. 1st time the food was ok - good but not great. I had grilled chicken nachos but the chicken was tasteless and the pieces were too big for nachos and they don't come with too many ingredients (no olives, onions, bell peppers, cilantro, etc). I ordered ground beef crispy tacos for the kids but the didn't really eat them because the tacos just fell apart, only crispy on the edges. Husband ordered an enchilada and he said it was good. We also had a bean and cheese burrito which was tasty. So on our return visit I figured I'd give nachos a second chance but this time get shredded chicken instead - the chicken tastes much better shredded. Unfortunately my nachos were missing the sour cream and guacamole so they were pretty blah and I was even more disappointed. Husband wanted a chicken burrito this time, apparently you can only get this by ordering a custom burrito which only comes with 3 ingredients (meat and 2 fillings) after 3 ingredients you have to pay extra - so extra charge for basics like lettuce, tomato, etc. (seems like a rip off). All in all, it wasn't worth the money. If I ever order again, it won't be anything special - just stick to bean and cheese burritos I guess. read more
