Great authentic Italian. Great Pizza, Calzones and Salads ! I highly recommend this place.

I ordered 2 pastas from them which I called in and had the order taken from their staff myself. It was supposed to take 45 minutes at the maximum. An hour later I call to check on it of which they had NOT EVEN STARTED on it yet. So after an hour they call me assuring me they will make it and it will arrive in thirty minutes. Had really high hopes after reading all the great reviews, but sadly, not anything like the reviews. The first 2 pizzas we tried to order, we were told they were out of. Huh? So we finally order just a pepperoni/sausage and some calzone she said they had left. Both had COLD raw dough and undercooked toppings. It was so gross. Ok, let's get one thing straight: The food's amazing. Some of the best Italian I've had in a long time, and I'm not just talking pizza. The place was clean, prices were fair. Our server, Jada, was AMAZING. Why the three star rating? Because I don't like it when ownership or management treats staff like dirt. They publicly chewed her out because she was being attentive to us, and another table had come been seated. The older gentleman and another man were behind the counter just standing around while they ordered her around. She was great, but they weren't. I have been going to Sals for years in Nashville and was glad when they opened one in the boro. It is by far the best in town and very authentic. Old Chicago is garbage IMHO compared to Sals. read more

I moved to TN from Philly 7 years ago, and have struggled to find pizza/Italian food that is on the same level as Philly/NJ/NY. SAL'S IS IT! The Alfredo sauce tastes just like a Mom n Pop shop in South Philly, the pizza is incredible and everyone that works there is so nice! Bravo Sal's! Highly recommend! read more

I work nearby and started going here for lunch when I work. Best sauce I have EVER tasted. The pizza is terrific as well as the pasta and meatballs. I haven't come across anything that I didn't like. Sal's blows the chain pizza places out of the water! In my opinion, this is the best place in town to get pizza. read more

The best pizza in Murfreesboro! Authentically New York style pizza. My husband is from New Jersey and has always missed the pizza he had access to up North. After eating at Sal's he won't even consider eating pizza from anywhere else here. Buffet is reasonably priced and has great options. read more

I stopped in at Sals today for lunch and couldn't have been more impressed. Rosa greeted me promptly at the door with an amazing smile and upbeat attitude. She told me about the wonderful buffet they had for lunch and didn't even have to up sell me because it was all laid out so nicely. Everything had the most perfect touch to it. The salads were cleanly put out with multiple toppings including real bacon bits. Then, the bread was delicately brushed with a light oil and one had a homemade pesto on top. The pasta selections were amazing and I even made my own spaghetti with their fresh tomatoes sauce. The slices of pizza were huge and the strombolis were stuffed to the max. The staff here is not only great and friendly, but the atmosphere was comfortable and clean and I will definitely be back. : ) read more

We ordered from here this past Friday night around 8pm. Delivery took about an hour and 15, but for a Friday I can understand. We ordered the Sicilian style pepperoni and mushroom, and boy was it a HUGE pizza. Tasty, but not the best pizza I've ever had. Crust was thick, but did not have much depth of flavor. Cheese and sauce were a little on the bland side for me. With some homemade doctoring (hubby's addition of this spice and that spice on top), it was better. Still searching for my perfect pizza in this area, but for now, Sal's will do! Definitely worth a try. read more

Maybe it is just an off day but Sal's Pizza disappointed us totally. Never seen meatballs floating in hot water before. I guess the other reviewers here think that is the norm. The garlic rolls looked great but were ice cold, the chef said this is intentional. I prefer hot. We are perplexed. Salad was lame with minimal toppings. Pizza was ok, could use more sauce and about 3 more minutes in the oven. The Buffett was pathetic. They never replenished the spaghetti or anything while we were there. We know Good Italian and this isn't it. Pity. Won't be going back. read more

Never ate here before till today and never will again. When i say this is the nastiest food I have ever ate i mean it. Fries were like chewing on foam and the grease was old . Horrible. The cheesteak was gross the mushrooms weren't even cooked. My husband had pasta. It was flavorless and the can kind would of been better. After reading the reviews, I was excited to have dinner at Sal's. All started well, appetizer was delicious and then they got busy. When the waitress brought out salads, we asked for more bread with our dinner. She said it would be no problem. More customers came in and we noticed our waitress was the only waitress. Our dinner finally came and there was no bread. My shrimp in the shrimp scampi was over cooked. We asked the waitress about the bread and she said she would check on it. We continued to slowly eat. We were finally done eating and as we were getting ready to leave, she brought the bread. When we talked to the people behind the counter about the shortage of wait staff, they blew us off by saying the two others called off because it is a weekend. I really wanted to like this place. GOOD SERVICES AND GOOD FOOD!! We did dine in on a Saturday afternoon... we just missed the daily buffet so we ordered and Xtra large pizza and fried ravioli. The ravioli's were very good served hot and fresh the marinara dipping sauce tasted homemade. We decided 1/2 pep. And pineapple and 1/2 tomato and fresh basil for our pizza, you could tell that the ingredients were fresh and dough was made in house which is a huge plus. The only thing that I will make a note for next time is to ask for easy sauce they were a little heavy with the sauce. Over all great experience and we look forward to our next visit. read more

Best pizza in the Boro. A mom and pop restaurant that has a cheap buffet with amazing food. It's located next to Jozara near Ross and Marshalls so it's easy to get to. Lots of seating. Not sure if they deliver and probably a good thing that I don't, because we would eat here once a week. read more

Sal's is our favorite place to get pizza. We drive 24 miles and pass several pizza restaurants to get there. We have eaten many variations of Sal's pizza, appetizers, calzones and salads. Traveling through. Ordered Wings and salad for delivery. Phone order was very pleasant. Driver was on time and again, pleasant. Wings were average and I guess I forgot to order silverware because it didn't come with and the salad was a bit difficult to enjoy without. Nice folks. Sals pizza is very exceptional. The family that runs it really cares about their food and I feel like a member of a big Italian family. I always go on friday for the buffet with calamari. It is some of the best I have ever had, which doesnt say much but its still cooked perfectly. A variety of choices. They offer an mtsu discount too. read more

Sal's generally had good reviews but the photos I saw of the pizza buffet (which I did not eat) didn't match what was on buffet, maybe the quality has gone down or they don't serve the same things all the time. I ordered a medium vegetarian pizza and a bottled coke. It was 20 bucks before I tipped and I felt like it was way too pricy for what you get. You'd be better off paying the same money at Carrabba's that's a hundred feet down the sidewalk. I think the buffet was around 8-9 dollars plus a drink which doesn't seem like a bad deal, but I still can't recommend it at all based on my pizza alone, not to mention the rest of the place. All the tables we tried were rocky and we ended up putting coasters under one of the legs at the one we stayed seated at. My pizza wasn't inedible but it also wasn't good. It had canned mushrooms on it. I only assume the olives were the same. The pizza sauce (and the spaghetti my friend ordered) tasted like the sauce that comes in a can of spaghetti O's. The pizza crust was the part I liked most but even that had little flavor, it was just cooked well. Also the flatware was flimsily and the knives don't cut well. I would pass on this unless maybe you have kids you want to take to the buffet. read more

Don't bother!! We stopped in for lunch on Saturday at about 1:30. Buffet is from 11 to 2 I think. We couldn't make up our mind...order a pizza or eat the buffet. The young girl at the counter talked us into the buffet. They only kept one hot pizza out there the whole time we were there and it was only half pepperoni half cheese. We asked, can you make a supreme? After looking at his watch he said oh no its too late. It was 15 minutes til 2. Why was she pushing the buffet then? We could of just ordered our own pizza!! Pizza would have scored 4 stars hartley cooked it long enough and been a bit more generous with toppings. I went in at lunch to try the lunch buffet. I was very disappointed in the selections available. It was an expensive buffet for pizza and the only pizza they had were cheese and pepperoni. Nothing else. All the other food looked like it had been there for quite some time. They had black olives and green olives for the salad bar but didn't put any of those on the pizza. The interior of the restaurant was very bland. The restrooms were dirty. They had boxes at the back of the restaurant that look like they were using it for storage. I would not return nor will I recommend this place. read more
