This Christmas 2020 during a year of let down after let down , Sals of CooperstownN.Y. did not disappoint. I had Sals Cater my Christmas dinner. We had 5 immediate family members at dinner and had Andrea from Sals Cooperstown organize my order . We were not let down , Sals prepared 7 trays of the following Chicken Parm Eggplant Parm Lasagna Baked Ziti Boneless Hot Wings Sausage and Peppers Antipasto Salad No Complaints , delicious , no skimping on the volume of food , and purely Italian every tray of Italian food. The America trays , Susage and Peppers and Boneless wings just Great. The Boneless Wings were pure great Chicken , not like the frozen bag stuff in SUPERMARKETS of tough, rubber ,full of nerve , junk. Sals Cooperstown Boneless Chicken was Grade A and a full tray no shortage of delicious boneless wings. Sausage and Peppers, oh my , more then enough, Onions , Peppers , Sausage galore , so tender and just pouring out in rich flavor. Lasagna, thick ,packed with Ricotta , and Mozrella , Meat, layer after layer of goodness ! Baked Ziti like my Mom use to make. Eggplant Parm, was tender , sweet , oozing with flavor , and most important , not tough or bitter or full of that hard Eggplant centers . Chicken Parm , wow, no skimping on tender Chicken breasts and just the right thickness. Layer after layer it was delightful ! The Italian Antipasto Salad , was perfect , plenty of meat, and the lettuce and cucumber just so fresh and smelled great , tomatoes , no soft mushy tomato here , they were fresh , ripe Juicy , and not one green tomato center found in the tray. Sals Cooperstown Tomato sauce just good old fashion Italian sauce like my Mom made every Sunday morning. I can't say enough about the service I was given and the wonderful food that was catered from what felt like my Moms Italian kitchen to our dinner table on Christmas Day 2020 I highly recommend Sals of Cooperstown N.Y. for your next Catered occasion , you won't be disappointed ! read more

Let's start by saying the food is fairly good (3.4-4 Stars) and there is a ton of room for big groups but these folks that run the place are grumpy, unhappy, miserable and very unsanitary. Seriously. I came to yelp to try to figure out if the staffs rudeness was a shtick. This place is from the 70s and hasn't been cleaned yet. The guys behind the counter walk around with food yelling out numbers and belittling guests that don't answer quick enough. I guess they don't count on repeat business because it's touristy. Pizza was good, garlic knots are huge compared to what I'm used to. The counter guy was a little gruff but that's not a huge deal. The place was pretty empty but we were there between lunch and dinner times so that explains that. read more

Ate here while visiting the Baseball HOF with a friend of mine, back in late Aug 2015. The place very much has an Italian-style feel to it ( at least compared to anything around Portland, OR--where I was visiting from! ) Both pizza and Saranac beer ( you can't find Saranac beer anywhere in Portland, and it tastes better than the local beers here too! ) were both great! I'm both a huge baseball fan ( Phillies--yeah, they suck now, but give us a few years lol ) and will definitely be visiting the HOF again, and when I do, a stop here will definitely be in the works! read more

Cleanliness and proper food handling should be your priority. Shame on you all for handling money and then the same register person, with your bare hands will grab slices and put them into the oven and then again grab the edge of the crust with your bare hands and put it onto your paper dishes to the customer. You have a Great product but without keeping to other important issues, people will avoid your place/product. Improve these issues cause this is not the only review that has noticed. I paid for it and threw the slice away and did you a favor. But simple remedy, take pride in your business and value your customers by using a tong to grab food. read more

Food service tip #1: NEVER.......EVER handle money then directly touch food. The staff did not use gloves and did not wash there hands between the register and the pizza oven. Unacceptable. Food service tip #2: NEVER.......EVER serve cold food that should be hot. Its not my fault there were too many customers for this under staffed pizza joint and they couldn't fully heat my stromboli. Lazy. The food was OK but this place is run by complete morons. Silverware and straws had to be given to you by an already understaffed register girl. AWFUL! AWFUL! AWFUL!!!! We went there because so many people recommend it. After experiencing it first hand I am SURE they must have been talking about another restaurant! To start I cleaned off the tables before our group could sit. Then after waiting for 20 minutes I had to go get a waitress to come take our order. We waited for another 20 minutes before I walked in to see where our drinks were only to find out they had not even started to make them. I got the drinks together ( making 3 separate trips) took all the drinks out to our table. On my way back and forth I was approached by nemerous other guest asking if I could help them! I'm sure you could imagine their faces when I told them I didn't work there. Finally after one hour and everyone around us getting their food our food finally arrived!! It was some of the worst food ever! Most of the kids didn't even eat at all!! Now when you can't get a hungry 12 year old to eat pizza....well what else need be said! Finally it was time to pay the bill. After waiting forever the checks were wrong and to top it off 15% tip was added! Seriously! Where was my tip?!? The pizza here is so good! We are in town for the baseball tournament and went here for lunch one day. The pizza is amazing and unique. I got the chicken bacon ranch pizza and it was delish! OK maybe I'm a bit spoiled living in Philadelphia and having great pizza and Italian places close by, but I didn't really see what the hype was about here. Pizza was alright, kinda dry, not much flavor, of course it tasted alright after walking around all day, but anything would have tasted good. I'm surprised that Sal's doesn't have a better rating, because the pizza is really pretty darn good! It's WAY better than the other pizza place in town.... Thin, flavorful crust with appropriately chewy edges, plenty of cheese, and yummy traditional toppings. Sure, it's nothing fancy, but it's also relatively inexpensive ($2 per slice) so I'm willing to overlook the droves of loud, baseball-playing kids and their parents! Went there tonight, horrible!! Sal the owner was an absolute jerk. No customer service skills, rude and unfriendly. Pizza was okay (much better places in town), chicken tenders were decent (basic fried bar food you can get anywhere). Sal not only was super rude after asking him a couple questions, one being what do you recommend and what's good? His response, "it's all food". Then asked him what beer they have. He walked off and a nice server was there so I asked her. He came back and literary yelled at her in front of everyone (guests and other employees) saying "you want to help them now" in a rude, yelling and condescending voice. Lots of pizza options, limited sandwich options. Like, real limited. The interior is pretty old, could use a face lift for sure, but seemed pretty clean. We both ordered pizza--BBQ chicken and a spinach, garlic, tomato, ricotta. Both seemed equally exciting. Then, he piled a bunch of shredded mozzarella atop each slice before putting it in the oven. This is the perfect place to eat after a day at the baseball hall of fame. For a guy who has never been to New York and was interested in having some New York style pizza this place was perfect for me. They serve big huge slices and offer a variety of different pizzas. I had to bus the tables from the people before just to make room for our group. The owner was rude and did not even acknowledge the fact that they didn't know what they are doing. Was rude when I asked for a to go box. Was there for 2 hours and the server did not even come to our section. It was all serve yourself and deal with a rude person in the process. Went to Sal's on a recent trip to Cooperstown NY. My family and I were extremely disappointed. The place was filthy especially the bathrooms and the service was terrible. We had asked the waitress three times to please wipe our table down because there was bird poop on them, she replied she would but never did. She placed the food right on top of it. When I complained about it she said she would be right back to clean it and never returned. They also messed up the calzone I ordered and when they tried to correct it the calzone they returned with was cold inside. When I complained about it the waitress told me that since I cut it open I had to pay for it. Needless to say we will never go back to this place and advise all to stay away from this establishment they do not care about their customers or cleanliness. read more
