Ordered street nacho with steak and fajita steak. Choosed medium rare for fajita steak on options. All steaks were dried and very very well done. Also they used taco steak for fajita. All chopped small and grounded. Veggies were over cooked. Nacho was also almost like 5 hours old looking. Chips were soggy and almost no cheese on it. My dog liked it thought. We ordered the street nachos with chorizo and two tacos 1 Al pastor 2 Barbacoa. The margarita and the mojito we ordered were very good and nice size. The food was very good, packed with great flavor combinations. Over all a good experience for our first time to this new restaurant. The service are a bit disconnected between drinks and food orders. I also did feel the drinks cost were wee a bit on the high side. Will try then again once they have been open for a while. read more

Placed an online order at 4:30 PM which wasn't available for pickup until 6 PM. Upon arriving I still had to wait in line for 25 minutes before speaking to the employee at the cash register. The employee then looked up my order but stated "we are very backed up in the kitchen and it looks like it would be another 30-40 minutes" and offered to refund the order. I told them I'd be willing to come back for the order, to which they stated that it would really take closer to two hours and then pressured me into just accepting the refund. They also stated they would be processing the refunds that night and to call back the next day if they weren't reflected on our credit card statement. It's now been 5 days and after multiple calls to Salsa Street and their credit card merchant we still have no refund. I personally witnessed 5 out of the 8 other patrons in the restaurant with me also get forced into accepting refunds, and saw at least a dozen more on the sheet they used to take my order information down. For what appears to be such a major mistake on their end I had hoped they would be putting extra effort into rectifying this issue. Extremely disappointed and at this point I'm just hoping to eventually get refunded so I can be done with them. read more

I ordered Salsa Street from GrubHub tonight. I was so impressed by the variety of tacos that they offered! We ordered the mushroom, the Cubano and the fried fish with rice and Mexican street corn. We didn't care for the rice, as we aren't fans of cilantro. The corn was phenomenal but small (especially for an up charge). The tacos were excellent. Especially the mushroom and fish. The pineapple salsa on the fish was delish! The meat on the Cubano was a bit tough but the flavor was excellent!! I can wait to try other kinds of tacos! And the drinks!! Super impressed! The food was good. Portion size was perfect. The staff was friendly. But it was the SLOWEST service I've had in years. The prices were very reasonable. But I just can't get over that it took 45 minutes from order to service. Also, the tables were not bussed well. We found a chopped onion stuck to the wall in the booth. Menu lineup is pretty impressive. This one mexican place that had good vegeterian Taco options . We tried following six tacos Wild Mushroom Taco - Really really good ! Relleno Taco - Amazing ! Queso Fresco - Spicy and Out of the world !! Braised Creamy chicken - Loaded with chicken and spinach. Chicken Carnitas - Pretty average but sour cream made the difference Chicken Tinga - Really tasty marinated chicken Rice was well seasoned and perfect .Salsa Verde was average.Nearly each item is a step above the average place: fresh ingredients, careful cooking, attention to detail.Notable thing here is the tacos a loaded with meat and are huge. It's a hidden gem by the theater. We stopped in for a quick bite before heading for movies. Incredible food. We were in a hurry so didn't really pay much attention to the service but it wasn't bad. The drinks, salsa and the food were delicious. Next time, I'd like to go with time instead of rushing the dinner. It was quick and we were able to make our movie within in half an hour. read more

I've gone here since it opened. I've tried different things and have liked it so far. I enjoy choices and the combinations of flavors are always good here. Several varieties of tacos. If your into street corn they offer that here too. The appetizers are a little pricey for what you get is my only drawback Give it a try , you won't be disappointed! I ordered Salsa Street on Saturday, December 15, 2017 at 7:09pm through the Grubhub app. The app states that delivery would occur within 35-45 minutes. By 8:00 I still hadn't received my order, so I tried calling the restaurant. Busy signal. I tried calling many more times over the next 20 minutes and still got a busy signal. Luckily the Grubhub driver texted me to tell me the restaurant was taking a long time to make my food, but was unable to give me an ETA. The food finally arrived at 8:35pm, an hour and a half after I ordered. Very disappointed in my first experience with Salsa Street and am extremely hesitant to order again in the future because of how long it took and the lack of communication. I've been sort of disappointed with the local Mexican cuisine offerings, until we stumbled onto Salsa Street. We ordered take out and I was amazed by the various offerings. I got the 3 taco meal, which I didn't come close to finishing. I ordered a barbacoa, ground beef and a steak taco and all were delicious! Great place for tacos! I recommend the steak and the Al Pastor tacos! The guacamole is real good too. I've only been here once, but everything our party tried was good. just ate here for first time, little family owned place, hole in the wall but the food was amazing. they have a pretty extensive fish menu including buckets of crab legs. i had steak tortas with rice and beans, i actually enjoyed the rice and beans and you could tell they were fresh aaa opposed to old, the torta was heavenly with the rightt balance of meat/veg/bread. totally worth checking this little gem out, prices are very reasonable and they have a solid beer and liquor selection read more

Today I embarked on a journey to find great tacos in the burbs .... oh salsa street how you did not disappoint. I have eaten tacos all over the city , including Big Star , Antique Taco and in Pilsen! I'd put these tacos up against any of these restaurants. Had the Steak taco , al pastor and the Mexican barbacoa , for sides the street corn and the ancho chile fries. Everything was freaking fantastic. This food is from the soul , everything is homemade and done with passion. Our server was attentive and sweet. Positives first: The cilantro rice, black beans, mushroom taco, and the house salsa were good. Now onto the negatives: Service was not good, we had to ask for refills on our water repeatedly, the rest of the food we had was not good, and the appetizer we ordered came out with our meals. Our food was lukewarm and not very flavorful except for the salsa. I pretty much eat everything, even when it's not great, and couldn't eat the creamy chicken taco. It literally made me nauseous. I brought it home for my sister, who also pretty much eats everything, and she couldn't eat it either. I definitely will not be going back. read more

Very nice menu, huge selection. The food came out quickly, it was beautifully presented and it was FANTASTIC. The food was fresh, clearly homemade and delicious. Portions were good, not over the top huge. I didn't like the salsas, we tried 3 of them it's just personal preference that I prefer a good pico. Service was good, she was knowledgeable and friendly. The menu and the food is nicer than the atmosphere, don't let the look of the place fool you, it's a diamond in the rough. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

Oh my, this place is outstanding. Thank goodness I found this because I certainly have been looking for an above mediocre Mexican restaurant in Palatine. Well my dear friends, look no further because here it is! I was yearning for dessert and wine to satisfy my craving so I used old faithful - Yelp - to help me find something suitable. I had a Sangria, a nacho trio with 3 meats which in itself was enough to feed a hungry gal and her 2 kids. Unfortunately it really did fill us up and was so amazing. If hubby were there, he would've loved it and polished it off...but he's out of town. Boo. Oh, forgot to mention their complimentary salsa verde and nachos are waaaay good too. Our meals came and we could hardly touch them after stuffing our faces with the appetizers. That's not normal for us too. Their horchata was the bomb!!! I thought I read someone not liking it, but trust me, that was a fluke because it's pretty darn amazing now. We will be back! Nice place for families. Many tables for plenty of people to eat. I was greeted instantly upon arrival and seated quickly for a mid-week 6pm dinner. Chips and salsa are complimentary. The chips were crispy and not too salty. The salsa was green, and appeared to be homemade and freshly ground. The meal also came with tortilla soup. I've never had this before so I don't know what else to compare it to, but it was tasty. I ordered the triple meat fajitas. This came with steak, chicken, and shrimp. My only complaint was that there were only three shrimp, but to be fair, they were large. Everything was cooked well, and in fast order. Staff was friendly and always used the term "Sir" when speaking to me. I had the churros for dessert. It came with 4 sugar coated churros filled with a hint of caramel.
