This restaurant has really great food and drinks. I had the shrimp fry which came with fries and cornbread. The shrimp was delicious and crispy and they gave a huge serving of fries with it which was great. I also really liked my cocktail. I can't remember the name of it but it was really good. The bartender did a great job- the drink was sweet and strong. The decor here was cozy and nice and the service was good as well. Would definitely recommend. read more

The service by our waitress, Sherry, was top notch. She was very attentive to our table of four's needs as well as other staff members. I enjoyed the best cornbread I've ever had! It wasn't your typical buttery type, but more of a true southern corn style. My dinner was a pork chop dish that came with collard greens and flavorful grits. Everyone at my table agreed to freshly prepared and delicious meals. The dim lighting, art decor and wall paintings felt very relaxing no matter where you sat. This night there was a blend of 70's R&B playing. Great vibe. If you receive great service, ask to be charged $15. This allows you to give back to all the kitchen staff. They get treated to drinks after their shift. Well deserved! I was proud to ring the bell to which I received thankful cheers. We will all return. The food is quite good. The fried shrimp and a large mound of fries are a good dish to share. The roasted artichokes salad consisted of a lettuce leaves and a few tasteless segments of dried artichokes. The Caesar salad was a mixture of lots of croutons , old Romain lettuce and ordinary dressing ( no anchovies). The wine selection is uninteresting and way ,way overpriced. For example, Cloudy Bay, a SB from NZ is a decent wine (90-91) which retails for about $25. The wholesale price is less than $20. The price on Salt Air 's menu is $118- a mark up of 6 times the wholesale price. The rest of the wines are equally way overpriced. read more

I love salt air. I've been here so many times. Tonight, I was disappointed. I ordered the halibut, which is not cheap. It is $42. The plate that was delivered to me with perhaps 2 ounces of fish on the plate. It was a pathetic dish for a high end restaurant. I told the waitress who brought it back to the kitchen. She returned with the same plate telling me that they weighed it and that it was 7 ounces. This is simply not true. I am attaching a picture with my finger for perspective. I have been coming to Salt Air for years, and it has never disappointed. I usually order the corn bread, and it has always been wonderful. The cheese baked crackers they bring out in place of rolls are delectable, and their new mock-tail menu is quite exciting. The service was well paced, and there was something on the menu for everyone. I got scallops, and while the scallops themselves were delightful, the rice was too spicy for my taste. What a delight! I decided to come here with my mother on a beach trip based on the positive Yelp reviews, and was not disappointed. We were lucky to get a reservation for a Thursday night (quick tip: do not expect to be seated before your reservation time. Our reservation was for 5:15pm and we arrived around 5, were told we needed to wait until all 5pm reservations were seated and had to wait a few minutes.) The Parmesan crisps were indeed crisp, and we enjoyed the spread that came with them. We split the Tempura Broccoli, which was a revelation! Perfect consistency and texture, loved the sauce, just a hint of heat but not spicy. For entrees, my crab cakes were excellent, the best I've had in years. My mother got the shrimp fry, which she also enjoyed, the portions are very generous. I plan to return during a future beach trip and save room for dessert! read more

I was expecting a great experience coming here after reading the reviews. We had a reservation but had to wait about 20 minutes and were treated awkwardly getting our table. I did very much enjoy the complimentary crackers and dip they brought to the table. The tempura battered soft shell crab snack was small and the corn mixture underneath was ok. The sweet and Smokey scallops were good too, but for $39 I would expect a bigger dish. The salt air's famous shrimp fry was by far the best dish to get. Large servings of perfectly cooked shrimp and fries for a decent price of $26. I ordered the coconut crusted tofu and it was so awful I sent it back. No crust. The most bland tofu I ever tasted. I do not recommend ordering this dish. I ordered a waterside wedge salad in its place. I found the combo of flavors a bit off. Or perhaps I was just turned off at this point. They had great craft root beer with a vanilla foam float. My son loved it. My daughter got a nice kids meal with chicken tenders fries and broccoli. The broccoli was unseasoned and needed salt. Which was taken away from the table when we sat down because the table is small. They actually have a very nice selection of kids meals. Overall a very mixed bag at a high price point. After 20+ years of going to Rehoboth at least a few times a year, this restaurant is still my favorite of all time in Rehoboth. It consistently has good food, good cocktails, really nice vibe and decor. It's not cheap, but it's also not the most expensive, and it's better per dollar than any other place within walking distance of downtown. Took awhile to place our order but the bar was crowded at this time so understandable. For dinner we ordered the crab cakes (which FYI are gluten free) and famous shrimp fry *warning - is such a large portion of a meal* also the appetizers we ordered were mussels and shishito peppers. My partner and I had a lovely date night at Salt Air this past July. It was during the small window when we all started to feel safe eating inside again, so everywhere was packed. The service was beyond excellent. The current and training wait staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. The food was good. Probably some of the classiest for Rehoboth beach. And it came without a pretentious atmosphere. You can be comfortable here in a cocktail dress or in jeans and a top. We even saw a few families dining. Service was good. Our waiter was attentive. Chef was abysmal. My dad ordered a medium filet mignon. It looked great on the outside, but it was very clearly rare on the inside. The waiter apologized and took the steak back. They cooked the steak some more and brought back an overcooked piece of cardboard. The waiter looked at it, shook his head, apologized, brought it back, and came back with a new steak, about 1/4" thick. I've never had a 1/4" filet before. It was definitely some other cheap cut, not a filet. And this was another piece of cardboard. We finally gave up and just left. I felt bad for the waiter. He looked so embarrassed but there wasn't much he could do. Can't make up inedible food with great service. Horrible chef. Great waiters. Don't go to this restaurant. Very good! Service was great and server had terrific recommendations. Cocktails were fun and different. My girlfriend had ravioli which was the highlight and I had tuna which was also very good! We split the crab deviled eggs which I highly recommended. Restaurant was on the louder side but wasn't packed tightly even on a busy weekend. Went here for a day trip at Rehoboth beach. We found this cute little spot and everyone was raving about it, so we made the walk there for dinner. The decor was very modern barnyard-like. Many twinkly lights and decor everywhere. Now let's talk food. We ordered the shrimp pasta, the shrimp fry, and the blackened tuna (we freakin love sea food). Here's the problem. The blackened tuna? Salty AF. The pasta? Salty AF. The shrimp fry? Not even seasoned. Like what bro? They definitely named their restaurant after their aggressive seasoning on that tuna and pasta. But they didn't even try to season the shrimp fry dish. I will admit that the cook on the pasta, the fried stuff and the fish were great. For that, they deserve at least two stars. The better part of the meal were the fries - actually fried to perfection, and the cornbread - soft, sweet and fluffy. Everything else was kind of inedible because of the 47826 pounds of salt they put on it. The portion sizes were decent for the price you pay. The service was wonderful and the people there are incredibly nice. I just wish the line cooks back there would adjust their seasoning or else I'm going to confiscate their salt. read more

We have dined here several times in the past but never left a review. Our experience has always been very good and we have eaten here every year when we visit Rehoboth off season for the marathon in December. The decor is charming and especially so for the holidays. We always receive good service. The food is delicious. This time we started with the Brussel sprouts with blueberries. We had never had the combination and it was amazing. We both had the seafood stew and it was very good, filled with seafood and the broth was very tasty. I had a glass of the Italian Chardonnay and it was a very good wine for the reasonable price. I could not eat another thing but could not pass up the banana cake so I brought it home to have later and it did not disappoint. We come to Rehoboth every December and I am sure Salt Air will continue to be a tradition. read more

Worth the wait. Beginning of the off season, and most places are now closed until next summer, but both salt air, and henlopen oyster next door, are slammed with patrons all night long for every day available. We walked up and had a 90 minute expected wait on Wednesday night, starting at 7pm...yeah. Wait wound up being 45 minutes, and were promptly seated after our txt notification. Extensive cocktail selection, all artfully crafted, and wine list to pair with any appetizer/entree selection. The cheese crackers and butter are like crack. The burrata, peach, arugula salad was excellent. I'm a sucker for burrata and peach, so they nailed this one. Soft shell crab at a quality restaurant is a no brainer, and they did not disappoint. Don't pass this up if it's available. Yeah, they're busy...for a reason. Either call after 1pm to get reservations, or wall up and expect to wait, but stick it out. read more

We had a reservation for 6:30 pm on a Thursday in July, we checked in at 6:30 pm and our table was ready at 6:41 pm. The complimentary fresh goat cheese and crackers were a great change up from the traditional breadbasket. The PEI mussels were the highlight of the meal, we wanted to savor every drop of the broth. I enjoyed the pan-seared scallops, but the grains soaked up a lot of the purée leaving little to drudge the scallops through - although the scallops were perfectly seared. Walking in- The cozy and stylish atmosphere makes you feel as if you walked into a farm. Service- The server wasn't the most attentive since it was packed but the food came out in great time. This place is a gem, and has been our family's favorite restaurant for many years. We enjoy the menu items which change, as well as the long-time classics. One of those classics is the Salt Air's Famous Shrimp Fry. When we first tried it over a decade ago, it was amazing. Our server shared the secret ingredient: the crispness of the batter comes from corn flakes! It became an instant favorite, the best fried shrimp anywhere. Our visiting family from out of town love to go there just for the shrimp fry, sometimes with 5 of six orders at our table being the shrimp fry. On a visit this week, we had the shrimp fry. Something changed. What was once a perfectly crispy and uniformly crunchy coating is now too thick, so it's crunchy on the outside, but gooey, clumpy, and almost raw batter in some spots on the inside. It was very 'meh', and not any better than can be had at any other restaurant. We looked at the menu, and noticed that it now is described as "panko encrusted". I think that's what ruined it? It seems more like the "Formerly Famous but now Run of the Mill Shrimp Fry". I won't be ordering it again unless the batter recipe changes back to the Famous one. Oh, and bring back the cole slaw, too. read more

The ambiance of the restaurant was comfortable, upscale but not stiff! Perfect for a fun night out. The fresh cocktails were quickly served and on point! The food was freshly prepared and each dish had unique flavoring to make it stand out. I had the scallops which were buttery and delightful, so full of flavor - and the sides were the perfect complement to the scallops. The biggest challenge is parking!!! Give yourself time to find parking. The restaurant, itself, is tasteful, comfortable and airy. Not sure how that changes in July and August but early June was delightful. Servers were prompt, attentive and courteous ensuring we were taken care of the entire time without being intrusive. I wasn't impressed with the menu choices. A bit too, umm, "interesting". I had the crispy skin trout which was really tasty and my wife really enjoyed the Shrimp Fry. On a mid-August weeknight, this place was bustling, in a good way. We had a reservation, but were asked to wait; it took maybe five minutes to invite us back in via text message. Our seating went well, and our server shared specials for the evening, though he struggled intermittently with some of the elements. We ordered cocktails from an attractive selection; my Smoke Show worked well as an Old Fashioned alternative, and a Salt Air Cosmo was appealingly light (but spilled in pouring). We ordered crab deviled eggs to share, which came quickly but were otherwise unremarkable. We specifically called the waiter over to ask that the entrees (which we'd ordered at the same time as the deviled eggs) not come too quickly; so often main courses come while you're still eating appetizers. Our server assured us he'd pace the delivery, and we signaled when we were almost done with the deviled eggs; he said he would put the entree order in. Our efforts worked half well: one entree--an ahi tuna--came to the table, but not the other--a rockfish, lobster, and asparagus dish--to the point that clearly the server noticed and assured us the other entree would be out "in six or seven minutes" and with a comped dessert (a sign the entree had never been put in for preparation). The ahi tuna was good, as was (eventually) the rockfish. When offered, a chocolate cake slice was generous, as described, combined with a dollop of whipped or ice cream on top. Overall, the experience is almost certainly "above average" for Rehoboth, but it probably fell just short of the "excellent" that its outward presentation aspires to. read more

The food here is amazing and service is generally quite nice. The green curry clams were slightly too salty for our taste buds, but the clams were fresh and the sauce went beautifully with it. The pork chop was also marinated to be on the saltier side for me, but the grilled flavor paired with the gravy was rich and delicious. It's my 500th review so it's only fitting I reserve it for the first restaurant we visited in like 2 years that wasn't in our city and, more importantly, one that kicked off the first night of our first vacation since before the pandemic. What an adorable place! It's off of the main strip in Rehoboth but still incredibly lively. We made the mistake of waiting until we were IN Delaware to even consider booking reservations (don't wing it!). Thankfully, someone must have cancelled within the small window we refreshed the Resy page that same afternoon in a last ditch effort to find somewhere we could eat, and we managed to snag a later reservation for 7:30. We called ahead to make sure they were wheelchair accessible and they were very accommodating. (It is flat to get in, but only one of the dining rooms doesn't have steps (the one we dined in, by the entrance, but still very intimate) and was also packed so definitely definitely make reservations. Also, I wouldn't consider the bathroom accessible. While it's very cute and eclectic, it's crammed behind the server station and so not super wide hallways). Our server was knowledgable, friendly, and efficient. They have a really great expansive wine list so we both got glasses of some white I can't remember now to pair with the fish we knew we were gonna order. The menu is a nice mix of casual style and fine dining, but WAY pricy (be forewarned). I get that's everywhere now (it's that damn *supply chain*) and it's a touristy destination, but damn. It was a very good meal but I'm not sure it's worth the high price tag. The basket of addicting parmesan crisps and homemade butter to start was a nice touch especially when you've spent the day driving and checking into your hotel and haven't eaten much, as was the app of creamed cornbread and butter we ordered. For entrees, BF got the special which was some seasonal fish and corn and parmesan and pasta special (the specials rotate AND are listed on the menu that's freshly printed nightly - bonus points!). It sounded heavy but was actually very nuanced, but could have used more salt overall. Per the waiter's and the random woman next to me's suggestion, I opted for their pan seared halibut. I'm not gonna lie, it was okay, but did not impress me much. It was fresh and the accoutrement were good, but it was overcooked and lacking flavor. I was jealous of my man's dish. The ambiance is adorable - very well decorated and a lot of thought was put into it. I'd say if you're looking for an intimate, candlelit dinner with fresh ingredients, this is your place. read more
