We have been coming to this restaurant for quite some time and have always enjoyed our previous visits, which is why tonight's experience was especially disappointing. We arrived at approximately 5:00 PM and were told by the three hostesses at the front that there would be about a 20-minute wait. We provided our phone number and were told we would be contacted when our table was ready. We also specifically asked if we could be seated outside, but were told that they were not seating anyone outdoors. We waited patiently, expecting a text or phone call. By 5:55 PM--nearly an hour after we arrived--we still had not received any communication or update. We finally went back to the restaurant ourselves to ask about our table. Only then did the blonde hostess tell us, "We could sit you now." What made the situation even more confusing was that after specifically being told earlier that they were not seating anyone outside, we were then seated at an outdoor table. Unfortunately, the entire experience left us feeling unwelcome and overlooked. A quoted 20-minute wait becoming almost an hour is frustrating on its own, but what was most disappointing was the lack of communication. Had we not gone back to ask for an update, we honestly do not know how much longer we would have been waiting. We have always enjoyed coming here, particularly during the off-season, when the staff we encountered were consistently warm, welcoming, and accommodating. That positive history is exactly why tonight stood out so much. The hospitality and communication we have come to expect simply were not there. We understand that restaurants can get busy and that estimated wait times are not always exact. However, keeping guests informed and making them feel welcome should still be a priority. Tonight, unfortunately, we did not feel that way at all. This was a very disappointing experience from a restaurant we have genuinely enjoyed and supported in the past. We hope management takes this feedback seriously, because this was certainly not the level of service we have experienced here before. read more

Stopped here for a late lunch/ early dinner on a Saturday. No wait and sat us immediately. The interior is very nice and spacious but sat on the patio by the fountain. Nice ambience! Plenty of umbrellas for shade. Service was very attentive and found us shortly after sitting. Only one hiccup was I ordered my beer and it didn't make its way to the table until the food arrived but a huge deal. Had the crab dip with old bay which was really good. We have been vacationing here for about 30 years and had stopped going to the Summer House after numerous menu changes, restaurant layout changes, etc. we decided to give it another shot on our visit this summer based on everyone seeming to find something on the menu that they would like to try. We had a large party of 10 people. They have limited large party seating so we had to wait about an hour after putting our name on the waiting list. The server seemed slightly overwhelmed with a large party and misunderstood a few of our questions / requests. The appetizer (bacon wrapped goat cheese stuffed dates) were my favorite thing I ate. The seared scallop meal was pretty good. Not super impressive but a very decent portion size. The truffle mushrooms were good and paired as a nice side to the meal. The hot honey chicken was very good and flavorful but a lot of bones to pick through. The kids chicken tender / fry meal one of the kids at the table received didn't appear to have been cooked all the way , server was notified. Overall, just average - no one was super impressed with their meals. The outside seating / fountain area does look very nice! Probably won't try again for another couple years! read more

Family members have been eating at the Summer House for a while, enjoying their grilled cheese and soup combinations. I finally was able to try it last week. Over the course of a few days, they highlighted cuisine from different countries, and we had dinner when they featured Brazil (my husband is Brazilian). We ordered everything off of the (limited) menu, and all the dishes were delicious! We gobbled up the appetizers before I could take a picture, they were perfect for sharing. Piri Piri chicken was nicely spicy, the seafood in my mouqueca was perfectly cooked, and the steaks were tender and tasty. Everything but the seafood stew came with traditional Brazilian sides: rice, beans, and collards. Four of us shared the giant slice of cake. Yum yum. Highly recommend. Tonight I decided to try the new Sunday Special which is a $20 Steak Frites that comes with a choice of 3 different sauces; I choose the peppercorn sauce! Yum! The 12 oz steak was cooked to a medium rare perfection and fries were crispy! Sundays are ALL DAY HAPPY HOUR too! 25% off all appetizers (did not order) and drink specials including 50% off all Specialty Martinis! Chose a pumpkin espresso! When I asked for my bill, Matt (bartender) asked if I wanted vanilla or chocolate sundae! I told him I didn't order one. He responded that it's part of the $20 Sunday Special. I asked to see the menu to add one or two toppings and he said you GET THEM ALL on the side! Ugh! I received it just to be polite and ate a little, not all. A really delicious and fun experience-- we went for happy hour on Tuesday and stayed to have the prime rib special which comes with potatoes and green beans ($20). The stuffed flounder was the best thing our table ordered. Flaky fish and such flavorful crab and sauce. The mashed potatoes are amazing. Don't burn your mouth- piping hot from the oven. Omg best pot pie ever! And a fantastic happy hour :) My husband and I stopped in for a quick Christmas lunch while shopping in Rehoboth. He ordered the lobster pot pie and I had chicken white chili and a salad. Everything was amazing! We were super impressed with the chili and were trying to reconstruct the recipe as we ate. Beautifully located by the Rehoboth beach in Delaware. The menu was very selective from seafood to burgers. I decided on the Tuna Carpaccio, the lobster empanadas were delicious. Crab Cake Sandwich was just that -sometimes when you order crab cakes you get a breadcrumbs cake and no crab. This sandwich was packed with crab yummy. Oyster Rockefeller-Spinach, Parmesan, bread crumbs, onion, bacon and white wine my sister ordered this sorry I didn't get to taste but it looked delicious. Then we had refreshing summer pineapple martini or pomegranate very good selections . Our server Josh I think his name was very attentive and pleasant. We tried the new libations room this week! The ambience and vibes are very cool and unique. I enjoyed the crème brûlée martini and the butterfly martini both were excellent and sweet. There are drink styles for every type of taste, including NA. We also returned for dinner the following night. I gave this place a 3 star mainly because the burgers were good and the outdoor patio atmosphere was very nice. Beyond that , this place seems to be struggling. It may because it is off season but we thought we give it a chance for dinner. First of all, I ordered a canned beer and it was shelf warm. I returned it for another draft beer which was very good. The beers are reasonably priced but they forgot to take the warm beer off our tab. Then the soup and appetizers. Not very good at all. We ordered potato skins and for $12 they were horrible. The worst I've ever had. They were very poorly prepared ,luke warm and there were only 6 small pieces. Come on ! THESE ARE POTATOES! I think the owners/managers need to rethink that particular appetizer. It was shameful. Then the seasonal pumpkin soup bisque (whatever it was). It had a very odd taste to it and it was only a cup at the most. I would not pay $12 for any of their soups if they of that caliber. The menu stated it was supposed to be a bowl, which it was not . In the upside, the atmosphere was very nice outside in the evening by the patio with the fountain the service was good .....except the one waitress. She served me the warm beer and my soup without a spoon. She just seemed like she didn't want be there that evening and had sort of an attitude. The rest of the staff and servers were doing a good job. We took the high road and left a 20% tip. We will most likely not return here and we do visit Rehoboth Beach at least once a year. read more

The atmosphere was great with holiday music til the DJ started at 9, we had a great waiter who was perfectly attentive, with drinks and food promptly served. My friends chose to eat here cause they love seafood. I particularly don't. Me and my friends were seated quickly, mind you it was a busy weekend night so that was awesome. Very nice look on the inside, big spacious booths, and our server Matt was very kind with attentive service. I got the Shrimp Crab Alfredo which was very pricey, but it was good. Portion was big, and it tasted delicious. My friend got crab cakes which they loved, and my other friend got a salad which was HUGE. First off the place was busy which I like to see so I know the product move. Problem here was we were seated right away which was a great thing but no one ever came by or made eye contact with us to order a drink or anything. It took 20 minutes for that to happen. Service, lack of and I never saw a manager looking over the servers to assist or to be training. It looks like a problem to me but they maybe just happy how it runs. Onions soup was ok, I heard broccoli soup was thin from a couple of other people. The burgers were actually ok as well, great for the price. I just wish establishments would buy a case of potatoes GPOD'S, and make their own French fries; it's not that hard. Beers got mixed up from the server....cheesecake baklava was actually pretty good, got better as it came to room temp. We heard about the Summer House's new "speakeasy" The Libation Room and decided to try it out. We scoped out the restaurant before going and couldn't find it. However, when we followed the restaurant's directions, we realized the door to The Libation Room is around back. (To be in the know, go through their back door rather than walk through the Summer House.) There is a definite speakeasy feel as the room is dark, there is Willy Wonka-themed decor, back-lit menus, sophisticated cocktails, and an adults only crowd. The restaurant has some unique specialty cocktails such as the Purple Butterfly which was refreshing and delicious. My husband liked his classic old fashioned. The Korean BBQ pork belly pinchos was a fun appetizer although the meat was a little too fatty. The kimchi that accompanied it with spicy mayo was the star of the show. The pumpkin, crab, and mushroom bisque was creamy and delicious, and the loaded baked potato soup was also a hit. We both enjoyed the vegan pumpkin gnocchi although my husband's tasted more flavorful with the addition of Italian sausage. This is a fun place for dinner with friends that is on the smaller side with not too many tables. The people next to us finished their meals, paid, and sat for quite a long time talking afterwards . Someone from the restaurant came up to politely let them know their table was needed which was the right thing to do. read more
