Decided to give them a try this morning. Friendly server once someone acknowledged we were at a table. It was a few minutes with lots of staff talking behind the counter and only a few tables. I'm certain they had no idea I could hear, but definite badmouthing of a certain customer. The young man spelled out a foul word twice- I'm certain he'll remember. Table was clean, floor could use a good mopping. Portions were ok for the prices, but food was definitely lacking any kind of flavor. He ordered the southwestern skillet, I had chicken and waffle (one waffle, not waffles) Heavy grease smell in the air from the fryer. Overall not my worst experience, far from the greatest. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. My wife enjoyed her Philly steak omelet but was not impressed with the cheese grits. Our companions seemed to enjoy their lunches. I tried the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was okay, moist & drizzled with a really good BBQ sauce. The mashed potatoes had the consistency & taste of powdered. And were served naked. No butter, no salt, & no gravy. I asked for & was brought some brown gravy, serviceable but not special. I snuck a piece of Herself's biscuit, which looked & tasted like the common frozen standard. We're going to try again. Next time I'll try one of the breakfast items. I really want to like this place! But when we do we'll go earlier. By the time we finished our meal, the restaurant was packed with the after-church crowd (a good sign!) and quite noisy. read more

Wow!! AMAZING!! First time here to Salt and Pepper Cafe, I highly recommend ALL to come and try this southern cooking, homemade biscuit making cafe. I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and fried okra. Yum yum!! A homemade biscuit was my dessert, and ooohh how DELICIOUS it was!! The perfect topping to an outstanding meal!! My son and I enjoyed brunch at your establishment yesterday. We were able to comfortably chat in the shade on one of the many benches you provided while we waited for a table. It was the perfect day to sit outside at an umbrella table and soak up the perfect breeze, social distancing at it's best. Your staff was super friendly and the food was amazing. My son especially relished Shelley's Cheese Steak Omelette, he shared a bite with me, super tasty! As usual your blueberry pancake was amazing! I had Samuel's Grit Breakfast Bowl, it was fantastically delicious. We've eaten here a few times for breakfast and it has always been delicious! I usually get the Garden Fresh skillet and it is not only delicious but enough food for me to take home breakfast for the next day!! Hubby says it's a nice convenient place to stop, not often crowded, usually accommodating, and the vittles are good. =) Unfortunately, efficiency on the part of the servers (or maybe it's the cook) has been lacking. The very first time we ate there, I asked them to hold the green peppers in my Garden Fresh Skillet once, but they did not. I didn't complain but the server saw me picking them out and immediately called someone over and they made it right. The last time we ate there, I had an "Omelet Your Way" and asked them to go very lightly on the jalapenos and also asked them if they could chop them up very fine. My omelet had tons of whole jalapenos. I didn't say anything, I made a pile on my plate of all the jalapenos I pulled out of my omelet. The server said nothing. That's my only complaint. If it weren't for the lack of attention, I would rate this cafe 4 stars. *We have not eat lunch of dinner here. read more

Outstanding lunch today. We sat outside to enjoy the cool weather.. we ordered the porkchop/Gouda M&C/super greens and hamburger steak/baked potato/green beans. The perfect bone-in grilled chop was thick and juicy with a light seasoning dusting. The hamburger steak with mushrooms and onions was very good. The "super greens" are a mix of dark green veggies grilled and I tasted a bit of garlic WOW. The Gouda M&C with bacon bits had a great flavor even though I'm a gooey M&C this batch was really good. The baked potato was also a high scorer must be the type of potato they use. Looked like a basic potato but had a lot of flavor. Even the unsweet tea was perfectly brewed. The prices don't match the level of favor, quality, and service. A real nice local place offering a wonderful meal. read more

Very bad customer service from hostess, when I first arrived she walk outside to grab her clip board asked for my information and told me it be a 30 minute wait and they would call us when a table was ready . Me and my family went for a stroll around the neighborhood while we waited after 40 minutes of not receiving a call we headed back and when i asked the hostess how much longer she responded with an attitude claiming I never answered my phone when I asked her what number she wrote she had wrote down wrong area code when I let her know she said well our policy is you don't answer you move to back which wouldn't be big deal if it wasn't it for the attitude and the looks she was giving me and my family read more

The food is amazing, the service has been hit and miss. Super Chicken and the Chicken and Waffles are well worth the trip from literally anywhere. The jalapeño gravy is excellent, especially on the side. Service the first visit was perfect- timely, friendly, accurate; service the second visit was awful- forgot drinks and had to ask again, food came out wrong, wrong ticket was brought, very slow overall and To Go drinks were forgotten.
