We live close by and eat here regularly. The food is not bad. My fav is the ribeye sandwich. The chicken sandwich is also very good and their corned beef is good. The bbq is ok, not great but ok. The catfish is good. The veggies are ok but canned. They used to have some really great cakes and desserts but they don't offer those anymore. So the food is ok and they are convenient. The down side is the service. They are a very close knit group that seem to be related or at least old friends. They have a large group of regular customers they treat fine but if they don't know you they can come across as very rude. Service is very slow and they will ignore customers for long stretches of time. Don't eat here if you're in a hurry. So food alone would be 3 stars. Good service could have bumped that up to 4 but poor service puts it down to 2. read more

Has gone down hill lately. I live within 5 minutes of this place and in the last 3 months when ordering a "smash burger" it comes plain, never cheese, or onions cooked into the meat. They should label this just a plain hamburger. I had to add my own cheese once again. I forgot about the other two times until adding my own cheese. Fries were cold after waiting an extra 5 minutes for food to be cooked for takeout. Don't do takeout from here, dine in that way they can fix their mistakes when they make them. Breakfast here is better in my opinion. Service reflects the kind of a small town diner and im sure regulars are always remembered. I've never met the owner, but I'm sure they come around. Military & Local Law enforcement are appreciated and this restaurant is not shy about their Patriotism and Pride for country. Sure wish social media was kinder to this place. read more

WHERE'S THE BBQ??? Went to this place after we visited the Dallas Market thinking we would get some good BBQ. They were out of fried green tomatoes which is one of the reasons we decided to go there in the first place. I ended up ordered fried mushrooms and split a pulled pork sandwich with my wife. The mushrooms were soft, probably old and very salty, didn't finish them. The ranch dressing that came with then was watered down, and the sandwich, which wasn't much bigger that a McDonalds hamburger, didn't even have any smoky flavor, like the meat came out of a pot of boiling water, had no flavor. They had no sauce or condiments of the table, the BBQ sauce was rationed out I a thimble size plastic container. The sweet tea I ordered wasn't very sweet, even after adding five packs of sugar. I feel like the owner is trying to cut a lot of corners to save money. All-in-all a very disappointing experience. If you're looking for good BBQ my recommendation would be to GO ANYPLACE ELSE. This establishment has the worst bbq I've ever had. Overcooked, definitely not presentable absolutely no taste. Ordered sauce on the side and as you can see the sauce is in the meat, and the taste is horrible. The greens were salty and inedible. The pulled pork was extremely dry and tasteless. A 4 if you stay away from the pasta specials. The good. Wonderful service. Updated decor. Surrounded by locals. Yummy breakfast and a hell-of-a-good burger. I am not going to try the BBQ again. I'm just too home sick for North Carolina style. And Texas. I've seen others enjoy their BBQ. each their own. The bad. Sometimes a home made dessert in the case goes VERY old and dry. Never....I warned you... never order any pasta special. They over cook the pasta. Found myself explaining al dente to the waitress. Not my finest moment. What I can rave about is the burger. Unfortunately we ordered the special of the day, Beef Stroganoff. This wasn't even close to beef stroganoff. No seasoning at all, no mushrooms, no sour cream and overcooked noodles. The beef was tender, but tasteless. Add salt and pepper at least. Service was great! The salad and Texas toast ( frozen kind) were good. First time there today and the food was 7/10. We had teriyaki wings, lemon pepper wings, collards, Cheeseburgers, the Philly cheesesteak with fries and a pecan pie. The pecan pie was not worth the $4.25. The collard greens need some type of meat in it for flavor like smoked turkey or a neck bone. I had to add salt and pepper for some sort of flavor. I got it as a side and for $3 it came in a tiny bowl. Really not worth the price so I probably won't get that again The wings were delicious The burgers was ok but eat that fresh. We've ordered pulled pork many times and it's very good. We'll for sure order it again. However, I've had the Country Fried Steak twice along with mashed potatoes, green beans, and cornbread and have been very disappointed both times. For Southern food, the taste is not very good at all, even the cornbread. The only other vegetable I've tried was beans as a side and they were literally pork and beans out of the can. Today we ordered online, brought the food home and settled in for football. Our appetizer was fried mushrooms, which were probably the best I have ever had. So Good! My bride had a pulled pork sandwich and she reports that it was also very tasty. I got a rack of ribs. A full rack $$. I was excited. But, before I continue, let me say I promise I'm not a rib snob by any stretch of the imagination. I'm super easy to please. Boys, I swear to God these ribs tasted like they were made in a crockpot. I've been here twice now. The food here is barely edible. I came with a large group the second time. It wasn't my choice, but I'm always willing to give a place a second shot. We all ordered and ate a wide variety of items. I can not describe this any other way. The food is almost inedible. Some of it, like the chili, was simply disgusting. Even the tea tasted rancid. I'd tried Rodney's BBQ at an event once and decided to stop at their restaurant for takeout when I was in the vicinity.  Rodney's has a vast breakfast-lunch-dinner menu with plenty of non-BBQ offerings as well. I ordered a BBQ pork plate ($11.99). The platter's a good size and comes with your choice of two sides (there are around 20 options!) and bread (Texas toast, fried cornbread, or biscuit). The pork was slightly dry and super smoky. The baked beans were really tasty with bits of onion in a thick sauce, yum! The collards were all right but needed a little salt. The cornbread (I was thrown off at first since it looked like a pancake) didn't really stand out in particular.  The wait time for my order wasn't too bad after the lunch rush. I occupied myself by checking out the huge selection of cakes in the cases near the register; ordering a slice after a meal seems like a popular way to go. The staff were pretty nice, especially the woman who cheerfully brought me more BBQ sauce upon request. However, the employees were in various states of mask-wearing (correct, under nose, down by chin) which was concerning. read more

An outstanding barbecue place. Probably the best place to eat in New Hope, and one of the best in the Dallas area. Breakfast goes till noon everyday, and it's delicious. The portion sizes are really big; loved the pancakes, the omelettes, the chicken. As for lunch & dinner, again, really sizeable portions, and the barbecue can hardly be beaten. Excellent taste. I haven't had a bad thing yet: I've especially enjoyed the barbecue chicken, the sweet potato fries, the chicken tenders, and the grilled chicken patty melt (huge portion size, delicious chicken!). They have daily specials, too. The barbecue sauce is homemade, I think, and both the house (a little spicy and vinegary) and the sweet are excellent. Service has been excellent every time I've been there. The servers are courteous, kind, and on top of drink refills and anything you might need (like a new fork when you've dropped yours on the floor). Save room for desserts! Ms. Tammy's cakes are amazing. The Holy Cow Cake will have you saying its name, but any of the cakes on display are fantastic. Triple chocolate, peanut butter pie, and mint chocolate chip are all outstanding. You can call in your order, which is what you should do if you want it fairly fast, or enjoy a leisurely time in an original atmosphere. The seats are typical diner or family style fare; the booths are a bit more comfortable. Atmosphere is somewhere between a Cracker Barrel and a Zaxby's in terms of decor. Service has been very good each time I've been there; great server staff who are friendly and accommodating. All in all, well recommended! read more

Love the food and have for many years. They may need to hire there old girls back the new ones are horrible. We literally sat 15 min before someone came to get our drink order. Then she had attitude as if it wasn't her job. I love Rodney's and of course will be back because the food is good but I will be looking out for one of the regular girls. My boyfriend had the combo plate as well bt with chicken instead of pulled pork, fried cabbage and potato salad. We also had fried green tomatoes and corn bread that tastes like my grandmama's.
