Looking for authentic Hong Kong-style desserts, this spot was a major disappointment. We started with the fried tofu, it was served in a tiny basket (I uploaded a photo with my finger for a size comparison), it was honestly the smallest portion I have ever seen. We also ordered the ginger tofu-fah (tofu pudding with ginger syrup), and it was easily the worst tofu-fah I've ever had. Have not been back to this spot for awhile, today we are bringing our friends visiting from HongKong and they enjoyed the desserts. They chose Mango Mochi Gelato, Sago with Taro and Coconut, Black Sticky Rice with Taro and Coconut, and I chose the White Fungus with Almond Soup. For dine in, you order from scanning the QR code on the table. It was a bit weird that they did not take our orders at the cashier even though the sign said so. It was a bit confusing. Lucky we got there slightly early, past 8:30pm, this place is packed! There are some tables with round chairs for medium to large groups, or you seat facing the window like a bar table for 3 in a group. Our friends are very happy with the Mango Mochi Gelato. One lady found the Black Sticky Rice soup too sweet. I like my almond soup, although the white fungus could be softer, but the amount of white fungus was ok, so I'm glad it's not just watery soup. Service was very limited. There's no water offered, and the staff only delivered the desserts. You need to grab the key near the cashier to go to the restroom. So sad, my family and I have been coming to Sweet Indulgence for over 15+ years and it never fails, the owner lady with the short hair (and sometimes glasses) is ALWAYS so rude!! She's always so soft spoken and cares a lot about her customers. I forget her name but when I use to frequent Sweet Indulgence more, she actually remembered my drink order and favorite dessert. That's when you know she cares! The workers here are generally pretty nice and helpful too which is another saving grace. I'm glad to see them still in business after all these years since they are one of the only Asian sit down dessert spots in the area that opens til 10pm but sadly, it's never a pleasant experience when I encounter the rude owner. What a shame! Food wise and desserts have been consistently these years and they have incorporated many cute desserts and different flavor gelato. Their in-store menu prices vs. their online menu prices with the QR code are slightly different. I think the online prices already tacks on a credit card surcharge. If you order from the counter and use a credit card as well, you will see a credit card surcharge on your receipt. I'm not sure if it is clearly stated somewhere on the counter that they impose a surcharge but just a heads up. Ordered their slices of tiramisu and matcha crepes cakes ($8.95 each). Not sure if they were freshly made in house or store bought, the matcha one was light and fluffy filled with fresh cream whereas the tiramisu one was dry and flaky. It didn't taste fresh. Located on a street corner in the downtown area of Millbrae, Sweet Indulgence offers a large variety of different sweets and desserts. The place inside is quite clean and has a very casual vibe to it. The place is quite spacious and there are some tables to sit down and enjoy any desserts. I really like their little miniature displays by the window featuring animated characters and other miniatures. On my latest visit, I got a black sesame frozen dessert drink which came with grass jelly and tofu ice cream on top. It takes them a while to make but they do a really good job blending everything together and ensuring that the black sesame taste is balanced throughout.
