Ahhhh Salt & Straw. I vibe with this locale. The others are always so busy. No nice places to sit and chill. Lake O has such a pretty downtown, shady spots to sit, and a cute locale. The staff is super friendly and it was NOT packed. Oh my word it was NICE to be able to hang with my kids and enjoy our ice cream and be in the shade. OH - and parking is easy and free here - covered parking garage (obviously the best for summer heat!) and they have doggie bowls outside for the puppies to get their water too!! Love this location. 4.5 OMG. If you want ice cream this is the place to go. Rich, creamy, decadent, flavors. The chocolate gooey brownie was just like it sounds, chucks of gooey chewy brownies in a rich but not overpowering chocolate ice cream. The cone was crispy crunchy to the last bite. My second flavor was the salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough. I was not as impressed with this one it missed its mark somehow, I did not get a cookie dough bite. But my partner in crime got the sea salted caramel ribbon which was beyond fabulous. As you turn the corner walking into the store you get hit was the smell of the waffle cones being made fresh. The brightness of the shop and welcoming staff member guiding you in the direct of the line. The staff member who we were told switches off every half hour allows for the line to maintain its orderly faction and moves it along in perfect order. I love their classic honey lavender (reserved a place in my fridge) and I love to try their limited edition. This time I picked the goat cheese marionberry habanero and Huckleberry oat crisp/ foraged porcini. Double scooped and I finished it!! Super yummy. They have the Tacolatte which they collaborated with Taco Bell in a fridge, but I didn't get to it (yet!) This location has room for people to get in line, taste some, and eat some inside the store. Aside from the great tasting ice cream, Salt & Straw has the most eclectic flavors of ice cream that include pear & blue cheese as well as honey lavender however they have most of the classic flavors as well. The staff are very willing to let you try whatever flavors you want and encourage you to try everything. I settled on a waffle cone with chocolate gooey brownie and it was fabulous! I tried the pear & blue cheese and the hazelnut cookies and cream. The flavor of blue cheese dominated and lingered. Beautiful ice cream shop with lots of unique flavors! A nice bonus is that they let you do a flavor taste test before commiting. I did a taste test on the pear and blue cheese (good but yes a rare combo so definitely needed to test first). It was good but I needed a pick me up so went with the coffee nut flavor. The ice cream was good, just note that it does melt a little quickly even while walking around in only 60 degree sunny weather. They also have a points program. This is a great Salt & Straw location. There's ample parking in the near by garages and there's a nice area to sit outside of the shop. The staff has always been fantastic and even left my autistic toddler hold onto a tasting spoon when he didn't want to use the plastic spoon because of it's texture without any hesitation or question. Salt & Straw's ice cream is a cut above! Both the ice cream and the mix-ins are made from scratch, and the texture is extra creamy. Flavors are balanced perfectly. The menu consists of permanent items as well as a rotating monthly menu with unusual and sometimes adventurous flavors (e.g. the Halloween-time offering "Bon Bugito's Creep Crawly Critters," which contains chocolate-covered crickets). I tend to mix it up, but the standard "Coffee & Love Nuts" is a frequent go-to, and it makes a great milkshake. For a departure from typical flavors, try "Honey Lavender" or "Pear and Blue Cheese." Some flavors are gluten-free, and if your allergy is severe, the staff will happily scoop from special inventory in the back, to ensure no cross-contamination. The Lake Oswego location is in Lake View Village, so you can sit at the tables outdoors, or enjoy walking around in the adjacent Millennium Park. We loved all of the seasonal flavors! There wasn't a taste we didn't enjoy. Our group decided to get "split scoops" so we could try two of our favorites and we all wished we had ordered more. The staff, as they always are, was friendly and welcoming. In fact, the woman who assisted us allowed me to try three different flavors before landing on a pint of one of my favorites; gooey chocolate. This is a great spot to grab a cool treat during the summer. It is your typical tasty salt and straw. They have all of their normal flavors and it's a wide open space inside which never feels cramped no matter how many people are in line. And there normally is a line on Friday and Saturday nights. That line will wrap around the building. Do not expect to get in and out quickly unless you order ahead. That is the secret. Order online, and then enter the store through the other entrance and simply wait for them to bring you your order. That is much faster than waiting in line. I do wish they would offer more seating outside. There is so much space on the inside which is not utilized that it seems they could install some kind of rolling like garage door on the front of the store to open up on nice days and really expand the seating. read more

I just love Salt & Straw no matter the location, but the Lake Oswego one is in a neat area. There a lot of good places to choose from if you want some lunch/dinner before your dessert and weather permitting, down the way is a nice place to sit and enjoy the view of the water.
