Consistently good service! Love trying the monthly rotating flavors. Clean interior as well.

We had the sweetest experience at Salt & Straw! From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming, patient, and happy to let us sample flavors until we found our perfect scoops. For my baby girl, we ordered a scoop of Pot of Golds & Rainbows, and it was pure magic. Colorful, fun, and packed with that nostalgic cereal milk flavor that makes you feel like a kid again. It was a total hit! For the hubby, he went all in with a double scoop of Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. The Chocolate Gooey Brownie was rich, fudgy, and indulgent without being overwhelming. Every bite had thick brownie pieces that tasted homemade. The Salted Malted Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough was perfectly balanced with that subtle malt flavor and generous chunks of cookie dough that were soft and flavorful. The texture of the ice cream is what really sets Salt & Straw apart. Ultra creamy, smooth, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Every flavor tasted intentional and thoughtfully crafted. Five stars all the way. We'll absolutely be back to try more creative flavors!

When I saw that Salt & Straw had a collab with Taco Bell to bring back their version of a Chocotaco, I had to come try it out. The Tacolate ($7.95) is pricey for such a bite-size dessert, but I really appreciated all the details into creating this. The taco is made up of a cinnamon-ancho ice cream held by a waffle cone shell and covered in dark chocolate and quinoa crunchies. Each bite was nice to get a bit of everything; I especially enjoyed the crunchies though you gotta be careful eating because it can fall apart a bit. Also loved how it came with two sauce packets reminiscent of Taco Bell's hot sauce --so fun and creative! Love the idea and concept here despite its high price tag. It's worth trying once! Nonetheless, the ice cream are always solid here too.

The service here is so quick & very friendly! The worker let us sample all the new Fall flavors which are very unique. We love how creative Salt & Straw flavors are & the wide variety of options. This is one of our staple dessert shops. The consistency of the ice cream is perfectly thick & creamy with delicious mix ins. We both got the split scoop, & as you can see, they pack it! Pumpkin Pie Tiramisu - 8.6/10 (the pumpkin flavor is very strong & a great fall flavor. i think it was lacking in the tiramisu however. i wish there was a stronger coffee essence. i very much like like the bits inside!) Honey Lavender - 9.6/10 (such a delicious floral flavor! one of our fav ice cream flavors of all time. this is our go to here!) Pear & Blue Cheese - 9.2/10 (this combination is delicious. the blue cheese is not funky at all, more on the lighter side. the pear bits adds a fruity sweetness. a combination you didn't know you needed hehe)

First had Salt and Straw in Santa Clara, then in LA, and now San Diego. No matter the location the quality is still the same. While the description is informative, the best way to finalize a decision is to do a taste test. For this round I ended up picking Coffee and Love Nuts and Chocolate Gooey Brownie. The coffee ice cream is one of the best I had. It's the combination of all the built in toppings. From their website this flavor is composed of a smooth, caramel-y medium roast coffee from Colombia, blend it with their cream, and stud it with immaculate Love Nuts-pecans caramelized in Tahitian vanilla, sprinkled with sea salt, then coated in 14 layers of chocolate. The entire flavor profile balances it perfectly! The shop has a few seating, but I like to explore the mall with an ice cream cone filled with 2 generous scoop of deliciousness in hand.

It's really cool that they have a monthly limited menu vs the regular classics. For this month it's their Halloween theme. I even saw they have a pumpkin spice waffle cone! I am a huge pumpkin spice latte + pumpkin bread girlie so when I saw their Jack O Lantern Pumpkin Bread it was a no brainer. I ended up choosing the normal waffle cone as I was worried it may be too much of the pumpkin flavor! First of all the presentation looks really cool with that neon green swirls! Then the pumpkin bread is nicely spiced and it's just fits the Halloween theme so well! Service was spectacular. I didn't feel rushed and she was super patient and friendly.

This Salt & Straw location can be found at the Westfield UTC mall, specifically next door to Sweetgreen. Because Salt & Straw is dog friendly, I suggested to a friend to meet here for a doggy playdate/ get together. My husband, our little girl and I came here on a Sunday afternoon, a little after 3 pm. There was a line but it wasn't very long. Soon enough, I was already at the front counter and an friendly employee was ready to help assist me. I ended up ordering: Single Scoop, $6.95 (tax included)- I picked Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper. I wanted to pick something different from my usual favorite (honey lavender) so I opted for this. I liked the flavors of this combination. But I do feel the balsamic flavor is strong in it. Single Scoop, $6.95 (tax included)- My husband opted for his favorite flavor, Honey Lavender. He shared a little bit with our little girl, who always enjoys this flavor (or really any flavor we share with her). Single Scoop, $6.95 (tax included)- This was our friend's first time and she decided to also get the Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper after trying a few samples of other flavors. She told me that she really just loves strawberries and decided to end up with this. ------------------------------------- (Total= $20.85 after tax) Our friend decided to purchase a pup cup for her dog, in which her dog just loved that and devoured it in only a few minutes. She also ended up purchasing a pint of salted malted chocolate chip cookie dough to take home to her husband and son. Overall, we had a great experience (as we have had a great experience at their other locations) and would come back if visiting San Diego again.

Salt & Straw is a popular ice cream chain known for its unique and adventurous flavors including seasonal rotations and vegan options. We ordered 1 waffle cones with Strawberry & Coconut Water Sherbet and a small cup of Sea Salt w/ Caramel Ribbons . The flavors all tasted great, large portions, and creamy texture of the ice cream. Wonderful customers service. They're incredibly friendly and genuinely excited to help you find your perfect flavor. They offer so many generous samples , they'll keep letting you taste test until you're sure. Salt & Straw has a loyalty program, accessible through their app, where customers can earn rewards and access exclusive promotions.  Located in the Westfield UTC shopping mall, plenty of parking !

I'm lactose intolerant but ice cream is my kryptonite. Usually, I keep it simple with my flavors, but every now and then I get adventurous. This time, the Pear & Blue Cheese called to me. You definitely taste the subtle blue cheese and the pear balances it out perfectly. It's the kind of flavor that makes you think, "Do I want more?" but then your stomach reminds you, "Relax, one scoop in a waffle cone is plenty and you forgot to take your Lactaid". I ate it all anyway and rolled the dice :) Service? 10/10. The team is super friendly and patient while guiding you through the flavors. And shoutout to Salt & Straw for letting people SAMPLE before committing. Looking at you, every other ice cream shop that makes us gamble with $7 mystery scoops. Will I be back? Absolutely for that melon prosciutto. Welp! Onto the next!

Vegan month: Chocolate cake (v) and banana Bananas Foster with Candied Pecans (v)
    Bridget B.

We came here after dinner at Amalfi Llama and it totally hit the spot. Pro tip: January is Vegan month so there are a ton of V options as well as their usual rotation. I've come to this location a few times and have had no issues. This time around was definitely the best set of flavors I've had here. The vegan chocolate cake was so decadent to the point where it was hard to believe it was vegan! The banana foster had delicious and natural banana flavors with the candied pecans being a nice contrast.

Went to UTC for some lunch & shopping and was surprised to see a Salt & Straw location right near where I parked! This is located near crate & barrel and the corner bakery cafe. They encourage tasting all the flavors and I wish I wasn't too shy to follow their advice. Unfortunately for me, I was and I only tried about 5 flavors. Perhaps it's also to avoid being overwhelmed by so many delicious options. I went with the peach and blue cheese flavor because it was the most interesting. The strawberry and black pepper was also good, but the savory aspect in blue cheese was hard to pass up. It was so unique and so good in its own right. Blue cheese crumbles were prominent so if you don't like the stinky thing- then you probably won't be a fan of this ice cream. My mom got the gooey brownie which is very rich and decadent.

I loooove the seasonal flavors salt and straw offers every month. Their flavors and usually unique and may not make sense, like turkey as an ice cream flavor?, but there's still a good variety that everyone can find one that they like! The store always smells delicious with the fresh waffles constantly being baked and the staff are always friendly!

Had very low expectations for the gelato to begin with seeing as the colors were extremely unnatural and the way it was heaped was a clear indication to me that it is not legitimate gelato and unfortunately, I was proven very right. I got the strawberry so that my toddler could have a few few bites and it was so unnatural and weird tasting that she didn't even want any... And if that doesn't say something! My husband got the coffee flavor and he literally took three bites and threw it away as well.
