I live in LA and was looking forward to coming back, but this visit was pretty disappointing. The avocado and mango in our order were both too unripe, which really affected the overall taste and texture. I understand that fruit can be seasonal, but if certain ingredients are not in good condition, I honestly think it would be better to make those items seasonal or temporarily take them off the menu. Otherwise, it lowers the expectation for customers who are coming back because they had a good experience before. I got the mango mellow ice cream ($7.99), and it came with crystal pearls and mango chunks spread pretty evenly throughout. The mango puree and cornflakes were mostly at the bottom of the cup so it got a bit too sweet in my last bites. My friend got the strawberry blush ($6.99) which had strawberries, crystal boba and cornflakes. It came with a good amount of strawberry slices, and even had two strawberry pocky sticks at the top. Parking in this plaza was insane. It's a paid lot. More parking on the street or nearby lots, both free and pre pay. This little dessert shop offered ice cream, shakes, cotton candy. We took our nephew and niece here specifically for cotton candy. I like that they offer different sizes but limited by color. Just pink or blue. It came in mini, large, dream cloud or mini cloud. The cotton acts as a "cloud" and surrounds the soft serve or other treats. You must order on the kiosk which was easy because of the photos but I had questions and no one was around to answer because they're all busy prepping orders. We also go: Avocado ice cream - crushed corn flakes, coconut flakes, fresh slices of avocado, vanilla soft serve not ice cream. This was good, not too sweet but $7.99 for a tiny cup was too much when only 1/4 of the avocado was used. First time trying this dessert shop, and it was so good! I'm a huge fan of anything Biscoff-related, so when I saw that dessert on the menu, I immediately ordered it. What really impressed me is the menu - so many great creative options that made it hard to decide what to get but good thing the staff is so helpful here. They let me sample one of the ice cream flavors and I decided on the red bean & taro + chocolate twist, and my dessert partner got the popular Dubai chocolate. The other thing I would say about their menu is the prices are decent (especially after spending about $12 on a milkshake the other day). I concluded that the soft serve ice cream has a perfect amount of flavor and much attention to detail, making every creation beautiful. Came here twice because it's walking distance from several restaurants. I wanted boba but I figured Nobibi would be a better option than TapEx. They actually don't offer brown sugar boba here, I guess they aren't really known for their drinks. I've tried the Roasted Milk Tea Brulee and the Matcha Biscoff Milk Tea. The Roasted Milk Tea Brulee was definitely better tasting. Even when I've ordered 50% sugar this drink comes out pretty much tasting like 100% sugar. I'm not too sure what I expected out of the Biscoff Matcha, the matcha quality was mid, and the Biscoff crumbles eventually got soggy and sank to the bottom of the drink. Definitely wouldn't come back for the Biscoff Matcha but out of the dessert places available in this plaza I would definitely choose Nobibi over TapEx anyday. I chose milk for the soft serve and it was creamy. *Flora: tasted like a fancier milk. I didn't care for the "flavored dust" but the chamomile had a pleasant scent. The included cone added some chocolate notes that didn't pair nicely. Overall, the base soft serve was good but the topping quality was mediocre. Nothing was special and I found each aspect done better in other locations in SD. The toppings need some improvement or at least taste less stale. I waited about 20-25 minutes for a bubble waffle. When I received it, it wasn't even a full waffle. I only got one side, and it was completely burned. A bubble waffle isn't supposed to be served like that. Please ask yourself: would you eat a bubble waffle like this if you were the customer? The cereal was on the bottom so once you get down a little, mix it up so you get some of that crunch with each bite. The mango ice cream our friends got was also delicious just make sure you don't forget to add the milk if you any it. The picture shows it but it doesn't come out that way unless you add it. My all time go to fave boba with no boba is from Vanitea...I honey black tea with ice cream and cheese foam. So I figured they'd have something similar.
