Our service was attentive and professional, and everything came out well prepared. We ordered calamari, seasonal vegetables, ribeye, grilled broccolini, and the Parmesan Crusted Chilean Seabass. The seabass was beautifully cooked and flavorful, and the ribeye was a great choice as well. The sides were fresh and complemented the meal nicely. It began with our arrival. We had a reservation, with a special note, but the receptionist didn't find the request. Thankfully our ressie was found, amidst much confusion with arriving customers and staff. We ordered a drink, and while we were waiting for it we ordered our dinner. Our soup and salad orders arrived, yet still no drink. When we asked our waiter, he had forgotten to order the drinks. While eating our first course we asked for salt & pepper and some crackers. Neither appeared before our entrees were served. The Caesar salad which my husband ordered for his entree was barely enough to have filled a small cereal bowl! And wouldn't one think a seafood restaurant would have anchovies available for a Caesar? Not this one! My pricey piece of parmesan Chilean sea bass ( $58) came with a side dish, and the special was Crimean mushrooms which I ordered. Instead, the plate arrived with a few pea pods. Tasty but not what I ordered. We flagged down a different waiter and asked for the mushrooms, salt & pepper and crackers which had still not been served. Our waiter had not inquired about our entrees nor had he asked if we would like another drink. When we asked about the special soup of the day, and the featured vegetable, he had to go back to the kitchen to ask. We have enjoyed better food and much better service at every other comparably priced restaurant in the area, and several that are lesser priced. My goodness--I'm so glad I finally got to try Salt at Carmel City Center! I've had my eye on this spot for a while and was so excited when it got picked for a work dinner. The entire experience was a 10/10. The space itself is stunning--I honestly wish I had taken more pictures, but the vibes were so good I didn't want to disrupt anyone around us. We ordered a variety of appetizers for the table, including crab cakes, calamari, and kung pao shrimp--everything was perfectly flavored and absolutely delicious. For my entrée, I had the grilled salmon with the Parmesan herb crust, Salt-style, and loved how customizable everything was. It made it easy to stick with something you love while still trying something new. I paired it with the Parmesan risotto, and the whole dish was incredible. I took the hummingbird cake to-go--it's a coconut vanilla cake with a blackberry-style syrup on the side. I'm not usually a coconut person, but this was so good. *sigh I went to Salt for the first time earlier this week. This location is in a great spot, and while parking may not always be quick, there are plenty of spots nearby via multiple garages. The inside of the space was bright and beautiful. While the food was good, the service we received was truly lack luster. We joked that our server hated us because she never checked in on us, nor did she ever make eye contact with us to flag her down. At one point, my friend had to get up and find her. I'm honestly unsure if I'm willing to give this place another try. The drinks and food were expensive for the poor service. I had ordered the blackberry margarita, which I didn't enjoy. Once again SALT delivered. Went on a random Tuesday evening so no reso needed. Made one anyway. Alicia was our server and she was so attentive and amazing and they really had her running around. She apologized but there was no need. She was a rockstar. We've been big fans of the Geist Salt location so it seemed only fitting we visit the new Carmel location to experience the differences in menu and ambiance. We seated ourselves at the upscale bar and were greeted warmly by our friendly bartender/server. The cocktail I ordered was perfectly crafted and tasted delicious. For starters, we ordered the Seasonal Crudo as well as the Harissa Spiced Shrimp. For mains, we opted for the Blue Crab Angel Hair Pasta and the Parmesan Crusted Chilean Seabass with Pan-Seared Scallops added. We shared everything and enjoyed the presentation, flavors and portion sizes of each dish (and even had leftovers!). When we dined here the name should have been "Smoke"--there was an issue in the kitchen that engulfed the dining room in a smoky haze for over an hour. This is a sloppy casual place, wear whatever T-shirt you've been wearing today. Service is the same, neither timely or particular. The biggest disappointment was the food--the ribeye was about a half inch thick, no bone--thin enough to be used in a sandwich. At $65, that's a bit of a rip off. Shellfish selection was not great (East/Wesr Coast was as specific s the server would describe) Sides were not done properly. No real attention to detail at all in this restaurant. I sat alone in the bar while waiting on my daughter...and the service was A1. My sever, I believe her name is Jennifer...was such a beauty. She was very helpful (I'm a frequent visitor of the Mass Ave location) and to know they are not affiliated shocked me. My server gave me some good advice about what I should order since I wasn't TOO hungry, and I'm glad I listened to her. I ordered the broccolini, they city center surf n turf, and the broiled oysters Rockefeller style. It was the perfect amount for me. Broccolini was grilled to perfection, the Rockefeller was yummy, and I can't wait to order the surf n turf again. The new Salt location did not disappoint!! No reservation needed on a week night - we were seated immediately. The interior is super light and airy but they have the space separated still so people have plenty of privacy and it's not just one big noisy room. Our waitress was super friendly and our meal was ready SO quick. I had the Spicy Seafood Pasta and my husband had the Lobster Mac n Cheese. I LOVED my pasta. It's not a standard red sauce at all - it's full of spices and almost reminded me of a red curry based sauce? The seafood was fantastic. My only minor nitpick item was there were a few shells in it- not a huge deal though. My husband loved his lobster Mac n cheese and said he'd get it again. We ended the night with an espresso martini (delicious) and our waitress brought us a slice of cheesecake on the house for what we were celebrating. We dropped in to Salt on our way to a concert at the Center for Performing Arts. The restaurant was crowded, but when I asked for a table for two, the concierge said "Yes" and took a quick peek in the main restaurant and then in the bar. She was back in seconds, and she had us seated in moments. Antonio, our server came by, introduced himself and then asked if we wanted to order a drink. My husband told him we were on our way to a concert and were a little short on time. Wow. He managed to have all our meal out on time. We were sorry we didn't have more time to enjoy the meal, which was excellent. I had a signature cocktail. It was delicious. We shared a dozen oysters to start. Then, my husband had the Winterfest special dinner: Caesar salad-great dressing, salmon and cheesecake. I had the miso salmon with broccolini as my side. Everything was perfectly prepared and served. It was small pieces of crab on small pasta with a cream sauce and nothing else. Bland presentation and small portion. . She said it was ok but nothing special for $32, she also had a cranberry with sparkling water and a piece of cake that was small her total was $63. I had crab cakes (2) and they were good and I ordered the vegetables for a side dish which were good total $45. Our server was pleasant and helpful. It's located in a busy area that can always be tricky for parking, especially when trying to get there on time. I specifically made an early reservation (5pm) and thankfully found a lot across the street with plenty of parking. Overall, we had a lovely dinner. Just several small annoyances that I didn't appreciate when paying $$$ for a night out. I ordered a drink off the cocktail menu, waited 20 min, and then our server returned and told us that the spring menu was changing and they could not longer make my drink. Not a big deal but would have appreciated knowing that in advance. Then we ordered apps and our server dropped them off with no small plates and we waited a few for him to return so my husband and I didn't have to lean over the one shared serving plate but he didn't return in a reasonable time so we just dug in. And then finally, we ordered entrees and my husband ordered his and was told again "oh sorry, we don't have that tonight." And this was off the main menu! Not a seasonal or specials menu or something. So again, not a huge deal, just tell people when we arrive what you're out of or not serving that night. We've eaten at the downtown location, but enjoyed eating here more because of the ambience and location. My husband had the "Blackened Grouper fish and Risotto" and I had the "Shaved Brussel Sprout Salad with Grilled Salmon" both dishes came out promptly, hot and delicious! I have celiac so I made sure to ask the server about their allergy protocols, he wasn't too sure, but he went and talked to the chef to make sure what I ordered was gluten free and prepared safely! The bechamel sauce on the mac & cheese is beautiful and sophisticated (NOT goopy kid's stuff). The lemon butter caper sauce on the crab pasta is bright, salty, tangy and. Grouper sandwich - Mouthwatering piece of white, steamy, juicy grouper with perfect blackening and grill on a fluffy brioche roll. I added aioli to take it over the top (and removed the slaw, which was a bit too thick and crunchy to compliment the fish) Lobster roll - Lovely soft croissant stuffed with lobster (in a mayo and oregano sauce) which was yummy, refreshing and perfect for lunch. Fries - Not too thin, not too thick, and cooked to (you guessed it) perfection. Wonderful, dipped in aioli or remoulade! Shaved Brussels salad - Crunchy, tasty. Excellent pre-meal roughage. I also had a side salad with a sandwich and those greens were also perfect and clean. They have the most wonderful staff and bartenders, so friendly and accommodating. They can make any mocktail or cocktail you want. I love that they carry Monkey 47 gin! They also have THC cocktails for a buzz without the alcohol! Finally, the buildout and decor is beautiful. I wish I could give a zero. I have been here twice. Last year was great. Yesterday was probably the worst experience dining out I have EVER had. First we were there for THREE hours. Drinks never came. When we finally got our food a friend at the table didn't get his food. We asked about it and 45 minutes later his food FINALLY came. We were all done and had to awkwardly wait for him to finish. While all being mad and frustrated the table next to us had very similar experiences and were complaining to management. We then had to complain bc we never got a second round of drinks hours into the meal and still our friend was eating while we were all done. The manager said he would give us gift cards bc it was terrible and then he left the restaurant before giving the gifts cards. He drove off while the entire restaurant was mad. Most importantly, I was disappointed with the execution of multiple dishes starting with the grilled cheese and lobster bisque. The grilled cheese was burned, and it was clear they tried to hide the really burnt part by placing it face down. We also were unable to sub fries for the lobster bisque, a tad disappointed given the meal was ordered for a kid. My husband, the birthday guy, ordered fish and chips only to be given ONE piece of fish that was maybe 3 inches. He was able to get two smaller pieces after I said something about there only being one small piece. We ordered multiple desserts, one of which was the breakfast donuts. They were RAW inside, like "pull apart and see the dough stretch" raw.
