Food is really good and comes out in larger portions. The environment is more upscale. The view of the water is just beautiful

First had a weird mix up with seating. We ended up sitting and eating in the waiting area. Shrimp app was very good (sauce was very good, some kind of bourbon or whiskey mix). Salad also was very good. Ordered the pork chop, wasnt a fan. Was very chewy, I figured this place was going to have more of a seafood menu. With that view I would of loved to eat some king crab. read more

5 stars for the waiter named Rebecca who was so kind and patient and answered all my questions since I am on keto/low carb diet. For drinks I started with vodka and club soda with mint and lime which was recommended by the waiter and I loved it cause it was low carb and was refreshing. For my entree I had the prime rib which was a special for the evening. I ordered it with creamy spinach and broccoli to keep it a low carb meal. Everything was delicious. I would love to be back when I am no longer on a low carb diet to try more of the menu. read more

One of my favorite places to go and grab a bite to eat every now and then. This was my first time going down to the creek since Covid and the food is just as delicious as before. I came here with my boyfriend about a week ago and ordered the steak medallion with mashed potatoes. Now I will admit the presentation for this one looked messy, it looked more as a to go order where they throw it all in a box and don't expect you to check it until you get home, but the taste and flavor was still there. My boyfriend had the salmon over mashed potatoes and that looked amazing. I usually order this entree, but I wanted steak that night. The ponzu sauce on the salmon is very complementary. It's addictive! So delicious . This place makes one of the best mashed potatoes!!! So this is usually our side dish. My only issue was the alcohol beverage that I had. It was super strong! If I would of finished that drink I wouldn't be able to write this review due to me not making it home. The waitress was very sweet she attempted to have the bartender make another one, but It still wasn't enjoyable so she removed it off the bill. I held my daughter baby shower here August 13. Not only was the food incredible but so was the service. Anthony went out of his way to accommodate any special requests I had at the last minute. Everyone had a good time and commented on the great food. I believe they have gained new customers from some of the guests that hadn't been there before. Clean, attentive, classy establishment right on the river. They have a nice little backyard area with some seats for those waiting, and even a long dock with benches at the end. In the front, they have an electric fire also for those waiting. High ceilings, wooden beams, sorta cabin-like. This place is a classic staple for the Jersey shore / Monmouth County area. Extensive menu with a wide variety of apps, burgers, fish/meat. The Warm French Loaf was large, with a cheesy, garlic inside. The calamari came with an interesting creamy, mustard sauce. The grilled Caesar salad was lightly charred and delicious. My mom's fish was cooked perfectly. My sister's roasted portobello was nice with the ponzu sauce, beets, butternut squash. My other sister's Braised Short Rib Rigatoni was hearty, but I'm just not one for those heavier, meaty, stewy flavors (like Beef Straganoff). Everything delivered, including our two bottles of white. A group of 7 family members gathered (May 2019) for a b'day dinner celebration. As guests arrived from near & far we sat outdoors by the open fireplace, had drinks, and we were looking forward to dining by sunset. This restaurant is in a lovely location right on the Navesink River. While we waited we took a walk around back and took great pics of the lovely water views. There is valet or self parking available. Once we were all there we were seated. The manager was kind and attentive and seated us overlooking the sunset/ water view. He was also patient, as we did not seat ourselves right away, with all the picture-taking and catching up! The favorite appetizer was the cornbread with honey-flavored butter. Served warm. I had a pretty tasty beet salad w goat cheese. Everyone seemed very happy with their selections. The apps were cleared away, we chatted, and then five of seven entrees were served. We patiently waited, opened gifts, and still noticed two of us had no entree. Eventually our waitress explained due to some "mix-up" two orders were not put in. I understand stuff happens. ...After a good while, the last two entrees were served. Everyone ordered either fish or steak and they felt that the food was good! I expected that the restaurant would "offer" to either reduce /not charge for the two late entrees, or even offer to pick up dessert/ coffee as a gesture of apology/goodwill , for their misstep with the two meals arriving long after others were served, but, they DID NOT. WE also did not mention it, as it was a bday celebration and we did not want to cause a kerfuffle and spoil our time together. But, it diminished the fine impression overall of the restaurant experience. All in all, good food, bar service was a bit slow, ( ...and not a busy bar!!) great setting, and friendly wait staff, but a manager should have come over and at the very least offered compensation for the two entrees that came out late. Went here for Thanksgiving and the food was very good. Waitress was attentive and the scenery was very, very nice overlooking the water. Classy crowd with little to no riff-raff. Nice place to relax, enjoy your meal and have a few drinks (if you drink). They have a nice looking bar too. On a side note: I have no clue how they did it, but. my turkey was hands-down the best, most tender, most juicy turkey I have ever had in my life. Definitely not worth the price. I used to come here when I was younger and thought the food and overall experience was a lot better than what I've experienced in recent years. First off it's super dimly lit up which is a huge red flag to me, why make it so dark in there what do you have to hide? I guess maybe the lipstick stain that was on my beer glass the second to last time I ate there and all the waitress said about it was "that's been happening a lot lately". The meat portions are very small for the price especially when compared to other places in the area. They try to seem like it's a fancy place (especially with the prices) while you have families coming their to dine in their sweats and leisure attire. The place definitely went down hill and seems to just cater to the local wealthy people who treat it like it's their own Outback Steakhouse. The only reason it gets two stars in my book is because I've been to multiple weddings there where the food was decent. I have been to Salt Creek Grille many times, and I found my last visit was disappointing. Mark, our service I'd a good job keeping up with the full house of tables. The first problem was the noise level. When did this restaurant turn into a banquet hall for families? The tables were large groups of loud-talking adults, coralling kids from running around or screaming in their highchairs. The second problem was the quality of the food. One diner asked for medium well for their steak and recd rare. It took several minutes to receive her meal back. Another dinner had Stroganoff dish and it was very dry, needing more sauce. Overall, the restaurant has come down a notch. I hope changes can be looked at to limit number of people sitting at one time, and you can return to the quality food you used to serve. read more

Since I am visiting this area from Los Angeles, I was disappointed that my request for a window table on a stormy evening this summer could not be accommodated. I was seated near the window instead. I saw several available tables next to the window for the duration that I ate, so I don't know what the magic words are to get a window seat here! But the food was exquisite and the service was impeccable, so I've made a reservation for my family to return next week. Hopefully, they love the food here as much as I do. read more

Love going here to sit at the bar or in the bar area to have dinner. Nice vibe, upscale but casual. Good menu everyone can have what they want, meatloaf to vegan ( cauliflower steak) to raw tuna ( tuna tower app). A good time was had by all. Having dinner at the Salt Creek Grille was a truly enjoyable experience! As delicious as the food was, it was the service and the ambiance of the grille that stood out to us. We were greeted warmly by the valet parking staff, seated promptly and served graciously by Elaina (who knew the menu forwards and backwards). The decor was intimate, and all of the tables have a great view of the river. Reservations are definitely needed for window seating. Of note were the 2 fire pit lounges at the entrance. We could have sat there all night! My wife and I have special dietary needs, and the staff had no trouble making sure our meal was memorable! We had the prime rib special which they blackened for us. From the friendly employees including Barbara who took our Easter reservation to our outstanding server Sky, the bussers, hostesses and managers all were terrific! I passed this place many times a d finally made reservations to try it. Wasn't thrilled. The bartender was great, after that it seemed to go downhill. Our waitress was slow as molasses. We watched the next tables server and she was spot on. The food was just ok. It seemed stuffy inside also. Our dinner guests felt the same way of the place. So to me it's just an ok place to go but there are better high quality restaurants nearby that I'd recommend before Salt Creek. read more
