I contacted at least 3 real estate agents who specialize in my neighborhood for a referral to a professional electrician who could do more than install an EV charger in a garage or recessed lighting. Zero referrals. Then a friend referred us to Salt N Light Electric, owned by Matt. We were happy to learn that his company is local to Tustin. He was responsive to our request for an appointment for an estimate. The estimator was prompt, professional and attentive to my questions since our project was complicated by condo floor plans and different owners. We appreciated the itemized estimate and Matt's willingness to discuss it. A "home run" or dedicated 40 amp, 220 V line run from the circuit panel in the garage to the kitchen (to install an electric induction range and oven, and stop using natural gas) required many holes cut in the ceiling. The work was done within one business day. Matt's brother and assistant were professional. Drywall holes were replaced, and floors were fairly clean considering all the work done above them. The drywall repairman arrived another day. The patching was done within one business day. The work was excellent; the ceiling doesn't look like it was touched. We don't have to repaint the ceiling. If we have future electrical work, we'll be calling Matt & his team. read more

I hired Matthew and his crew for all new electrical lines in my older home. Price was lower than other bidders. The installation went well with all new switches and outlets!! Some rooms have wall paneling. They made their entry holes on the opposite walls that were plaster so my plasterer could hide the holes easier rather than more holes in the paneling that would not patch up easily. This took extra effort that I appreciated so much! Told Matthew I wanted a permit and all work was done to code!The permit inspection passed with flying colors! What a polite crew! Salt N Light Electric are true professionals and honest folks. I hired them to install a NEMA 14-50 for EV charging. Matt was responsive and helpful in evaluating my project. Most importantly Matt was honest about the work that needed to be done. He did not unnecessarily recommend a panel upgrade thinking I wouldn't know any better (too many electricians I contacted did this without even doing a load calculation). I have 200 amp service, did a load calculation, have space in my main panel, and looked at 1 year of SCE data to understand my house's peak amperage draw. I knew for a fact I did not need a panel upgrade to support EV charging. This is how I know Matt and his crew are honest folks. On install day Joseph and Samuel showed up as scheduled to do the work. They were very clear in communicating what they were going to do and took the time to confirm my preferences in terms of conduit placement. They also went above and beyond by using proper high quality materials, i.e. an industrial grade NEMA 14-50 receptacle, correctly sized #6 THHN copper wires, and 3/4" EMT conduit. This allows me to upgrade to a higher power 48 amp EV charger in the future without needing to redo the wiring. Joseph and Samuel performed a clean install and left the job site clean. I'm more than happy with the end result. I would not hesitate to work with Salt N Electric again. They are a truly professional and honest crew that clearly take pride in their work. read more
