Salt shack is a hidden gem! Walked in with a big group about an hour before closing and they took us in ever so rapidly. Our server was great and so patient with us. It was a cold night so we sat inside, but they have such a cute outdoors area in the back. I was told I had to try their wings and they did not disappoint plus it was a good portion! Also had their coconut shrimp which was delicious with their house made sauce on the side (better than Bahama breeze which is tough to say lol). Enjoyed all of this with a lovely mango pina colada. First time here!! My daughter and I came to try something new. They were busy but great atmosphere!! The service was great and very friendly. We had the ceviche to start and that was absolutely amazing!!! My daughter had the dirty banana drink and the grilled gulf shrimp and I had the skinny margarita and the Island chicken. It was all very good! We wanted to sit outside but because it was very busy (a Saturday night, so it was expected), we opted to sit inside for a less wait. The experience was still great and now I want to bring my husband when we're back in town. Went in at 12:30 on a Sunday with a group of 5. No wait time for a table inside. We were immediately given menus and asked if we would like to start off with any drinks. Service was IMMACULATE the whole time our party was there. My empty water cup was replaced with a full one in the blink of an eye, without me asking. I regret not asking for the servers name because she was so nice and attentive. She was petite, had a slick back, and her lashes done. We decided to venture out and give this hidden gem in Clermont a try. It was a busy Sunday afternoon but we did not wait very long to get a table inside. Both hostesses and our server were friendly and attentive. We ordered the tuna tower, coastal crab cake sandwich, mahi tacos and the island chicken tacos. Everything was made to order with quality ingredients and with great flavor. We also had their margaritas and they were delicious! 1-Star Review (only because zero isn't an option) This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. We were seated promptly, but after that, we were completely ignored. We waited around 20 minutes without anyone coming to our table--not even to offer water or acknowledge us. During that same time, another family was seated nearby and was taken care of immediately--greeted, drinks served, and checked on right away. After waiting that long, I finally flagged down a waiter. His response was that he wasn't assigned to our table, even though we were seated directly between two tables he was actively serving. That explanation didn't make sense and only added to the frustration. To make matters worse, we were the only Hispanic family in the restaurant, and also the only ones being completely ignored. I don't want to assume intent, but the difference in how we were treated was hard to ignore and left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. Eventually, a manager came over and apologized, but by that point the experience was already ruined. My wife, my 5-year-old son, and I had been sitting there hungry and overlooked for far too long, so we decided to leave. At best, this was extremely poor service and lack of basic coordination. At worst, it raises serious concerns about how customers are treated. Either way, we won't be returning. read more

Amazing little spot on the lake! We were worried about a wait as the place was packed but we're sat within 10 min and had amazing service! The food was Devine! Not one thing was bad! We accidentally got Gator bites instead of fish bites which was a happy accident as I've never had Gator and according to my table mates it was the best thing ever! Went here for Mother's Day and absolutely loved the place. It's located lake-side and offers great views from mostly any part of the restaurant. I do recommend outdoor seating for the best view, though. The food was delicious and the waiter was very fast and friendly. It does have a bit of a parking issue with it being located in downtown Clermont so be aware of that, but once you find parking be ready to enjoy great food, people, and outdoorsy music. read more

You HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE! I had no idea that clermont could boast a beach restaurant on their lake and make it feel like you left the Orlando area all together ! We got there around noon and wanted to eat outside , they led us to this large patio area where we were able to sit at a round picnic table and look at the water. It was busy when we arrived! A ton of families , some sports teams, dogs , but everyone was having a blast! The beach area is nice for the kiddos and kids were swimming while the parents were enjoying the day with their drinks. It looked like the area we were in had a set up for live music so I would love to check it out. Our server was extremely attentive , I don't remember her name but she was great and got our drinks and food out to us very quickly despite it being so busy. But the total when the waiter brought me the little handheld machine (I hate those things by the way) was $93 and change. Then I added a tip on top of that for a total of $109 and change. So I ended up tipping $38 on a $71 meal. Yes I was in a rush and stupid. The only explanation I have is that they automatically add a tip. But they don't tell you this or at least my waiter didn't. And if you automatically add a tip then why prompt for another tip?? Maybe it should ask the question do you want to add an extra tip? Anyway, it's on me, but I think it's still sketchy business. When we arrived, we had the option of waiting 20 min for outdoor seating or no wait for indoors. We were hungry, so we went with the latter. The service was excellent and quick. Our waitress was attentive, but not overbearing. She also anticipated some of our dietary restrictions and noted that there was pork in one of the sauces, which we wouldn't have expected. She had great suggestions for alternatives and ensured we were accommodated. Now, on to the food. We had virgin piña coladas to drink -- delicious. We ordered the calamari as one of our appetizers. It tasted fresh and light. We also had the ceviche (first time). It was very tasty. I ordered the crab cake sandwich for my entree. It's not something I'd normally get but I was feeling adventurous. I enjoyed it more after requesting some extra citrus mustard (so good!) to pair with it. I got yuca fries as the side and those were the best I've had at a restaurant. My husband had the fire grilled fish of the day (pompano) and loved it. While the food was great, I think we would've enjoyed the ambiance outside a lot more. Saw this place being advertised on Insta and had to check it out. This place is right off the Clermont side of Lake Minneola and has a substantial beach footprint with a dock for folks to visit via boat, wave runner, or paddle board/canoe. It also has a separate parking lot and is closer to Clermont city parking, so big plus for ease of getting here. Let's talk food! I sat at the bar on a a Thursday afternoon for lunch and the bartender was very friendly and attentive. The view was also perfect to enjoy the waterfront. I ordered the Ceviche to start. On this day, they had shrimp but they also use various white fish as available. This dish was fresh and absolutely delicious. Squeeze of lime brought the flavor and it's served which these soft yet crunchy chips that are made IN HOUSE! Love that and perfect way to get you ready for your meal. For lunch, I tried the Fish Tacos. Now, you can get these with Mahi, Grouper, or Shrimp. I went with Mahi. Blackened perfectly bringing a little heat that goes well with the slaw, avocado, and the cilantro lime crèma. Even the fries were warm and well seasoned. I also went with a rum runner for a good day drink and to my surprise it was fresh made vs batch. So good and perfect for a lake front lunch. There is an inside bar, plenty of open seating, and outside seating as well. The prices were extremely fair for the quality served. We started off with the lobster bisque. It's served in a blue mug and is very light but creamy. What makes it unique is how stringy/chunky the meat inside is. We also had the fritters which had a thin crust but were super soft & chewy inside. These were alright but not the best I've ever had. For my entree I ordered the Shrimp burger, wow- absolutely loved it! And instead of being basic and getting fries I ordered the fried yuca! A little confusing to find the host stand depending where you enter. We wound up having to go on the other side of the restaurant to be seated. It took a little while to be greeted at the table as well so I was getting a little worried, but when our server did come over, everything was fast from there. I ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos with yucca fries. The Mahi was dry, but the tacos were delicious. I didn't care much for the fries, but the tuna tartare app was amazing as well. I have never been treated as poorly at a restaurant than I was at Salt Shack. Walked in around 6:45. We could see the place was busy, but we knew we wanted to sit outside and were prepared to wait. No problem. We were greeted at the door and told that there were not outside seats available so we could have one of two tables inside. We questioned if we could wait for a table outside to open up, to which we were told they weren't "offering preferential seating". After a few moments of questioning what that meant (never heard of a wait list being referred to as "preferential seating" they finally got to the point. No, we could not sit outside. We were then told "we could walk around the park and come back" and maybe a table outside would be open, maybe one wouldn't. The woman speaking to us, who I later found out is the owner(!) proceeded to try to convince us to sit inside and "enjoy the A/C (the building was freezing). We told her that we're from Michigan and were here to enjoy the weather. She then proceeds to berate us for being from Michigan. At that point, we walked out. I went with the catch of the day which was Wahoo or Snapper, I chose pan seared snapper, it was okay though. Could've definitely used a lot more seasoning. The rice and peas were good, they had some sort of coconut cream sauce. I sampled my tables app of fried oysters (no picture, sorry) - the batter is flavorful but the oysters are very small. Although it was busy, I quickly got a lakefront table. The wait staff greeted me promptly and took my drink and appetizer orders. I was impressed by how quickly everything arrived. The service was excellent, and the food and drinks were even better. I started with conch fritters, jerk wings, and a Salt Shack Mai Tai, and for my entrée, I chose the blackened grouper tacos. Every bite was delicious, and the overall experience was exceptional. It was a nice breezy afternoon, perfect for enjoying a meal by the lake. I highly recommend checking out the Salt Shack if you're in the area, I'll definitely be back.
