Two meat plate with pulled pork and ribs with baked beans and Potato Salad
    Christina A.

Located in ballpark village and one of the only things open later when a game is not going on. The deviled eggs and sides were the best part of the meal. Bbq is different depending what part of the country you're from but the original sauce was too sweet for me and the other ones just weren't to my liking. The service is what gave this place low stars. The hostess were very friendly. We were told 25 minute wait but watched another party walk in and ask about the the tables outside that they were able to just sit down at. We asked about the other table and were told we could sit after waiting thirty minutes, not sure why they weren't using those tables to begin with and weren't asking if people wanted to sit inside our outside. Our waitress was just terrible. Took her forever to come to our table, we were ready when she finally showed up but would only take our drink orders. We heard her tell the other table as well who was ready to order they'd have to wait until she came back with the drinks. She also didn't come around to check on us and only offered the table next to us refills. A bus boy also passed our table asked to remove empty plates but left ours.

bestie combo: ribs and pulled pork, sides are mac and cheese and brisket chili

Salt + smoke is a great place to stop by for a meal if you want something filling and hearty. The portions of the bestie combos (what we ordered) are more than enough! Had to take the leftovers home cause we couldn't finish it! We ordered two 2-meat bestie combos, one with dry ribs and brisket, and one with sweet ribs and pulled pork. The dry ribs were pretty good, loved the slight charcoal flavor. The beef brisket was bland to me. The sweet ribs were very flavorful, but the meat was a bit too lean. On the other hand, the pulled pork was very fat and dry. I guess it makes sense because when I ordered it, they ask if I wanted my pulled pork to be on the leaner or fatter side, and I chose fatter. So, keep in mind that if you choose fatter, you're getting very fat. For one combo, we ordered beef fat fries and creamed corn for two sides. The beef fat fries were so yummy, but it was too salty for me. Though the fries were on the thicker side, they still had some crunchiness to it. The creamed corn was a personal favorite; loved the rush of hearty flavors. Though it's creamed corn, it actually doesn't feel too heavy. For the other combo we ordered brisket chili and mac and cheese for two sides. The brisket chili wasn't bad, but I think that the chili was a bit too watery. Also, it could use some more beans in there. I LOVED the mac and cheese! If I knew before I would've ordered both my sides as the mac and cheese! The mac and cheese had a dryer texture and some bread sprinkled on top that was absolute delish. 10/10 recommend. The staff was very nice and attentive, asking if everything is alright every once in a while. They're very patient with you when you're torn about what to order!

Got the half slab of ribs, and it was all so tasty! Sat at the bar which was super chill. Bartender was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Loved the nice range of sauces for my fall-off-the-bone ribs. Can't point out a single fault in my dinner experience.

Pulled pork and Jalapeño cheese bologna!!! Creamed corn is absolute amazing as well!!

Food and service is perfect! Came to St. Louis on opening day for the Cardinals! What a fabulous excitement throughout the city! My food was delicious!

I ordered the Bestie Combo (2 meats, 2 sides). My choices were brisket and spicy ribs. I had 3 ribs and 3 short slices of brisket. The meats were very well seasoned and tender! My sides were the mac and potato salad. Both were also good! I rarely order mac but today I said why not? I actually liked the crackers on top. (I'm not a breadcrumbs on mac person.) The portion was small in my opinion. If this were for my husband and I to share, it wouldn't be enough. I haven't purchased bbq in a long time so I don't know what the cost should be. Hopefully $20 wasn't too much. The inside is beautiful! Not sure that the food made me want to visit again but I am glad I tried it.

The only bbq place I visited in St. Louis. I meant to try more but this is not how I eat, I like fish and vegetables mostly. But, this place is great! Highly recommend the platter with different meats. Skip the smoked wings since they have a weird taste but the burnt tips are actually very meaty and flavorful. Lots of good bbq sauce to try.

Located in the Ballpark village area somewhat near the arch, I ordered takeout from here on a recent trip between visiting the arch and heading back for meetings. I placed my order online via their website which uses Toast at 12:55pm the estimated time it would be ready was 1:14pm. I walked in at 1:16pm and picked up my order which was already waiting for me. Nice and smooth. I walked back to my hotel about 10-15 minutes and then unpacked my meal. I ordered the "Bestie Combo 2" with the Combo Dry Rib 3, Brisket Combo as my meats and the White Cheddar Cracker Mac & Beef Fat Fries as my sides. I also got the Mustarolina sauce on the side. All this also comes with a bacon & cheddar popover as well. I'm going to be honest, it was all pretty cold by the time I got it back to my room and microwaves or ovens or air fryers are really not a thing in a lot of hotel rooms. So room temp or cold is the way I had to go. Stand outs. The ribs and the fries. The fries came in a special container that was "sealed for my safety". Not sure if that's so in delivery people don't steal some of my fries or it's supposed to keep the hot fries from burning skin while still giving them a vent to stay crispy or what, but it worked. The fries were still crispy and flavorful even while being room temp. They must be amazing hot. I love that they were still crispy as takeout which is really hard to do. The St Louis Cut ribs. Their menu describes this as "St. Louis cut is a combination of spare and the baby back cut, think middle of the rib." I had the option of sweet and hot but I went with the dry rub. I want the meat and its spices flavor and smoke to standout before any sauce. Three came in an order, and even cold they were good. I liked the spices. The mustarolina sauce was good if you like the mustard style bbq sauces. I used it very sparingly as my fav items didn't need any sauce but I did try it and it could definitely be addictive. I don't know anything about any of their sauces before so perhaps there was a better choice but this one was good. Just ok The brisket was ok. I got 3 slices in this combo as well. I think it may have been better if it was fresh. I also prefer fatty brisket to leaner brisket as I find lean brisket to get drier faster. The Mac and cheese. The crackers added an interesting twist but again it's probably 10 times better fresh and warm. The popover probably faired the worst in the time from when my order was prepared to when I could eat it. I'm sure it's better on site. But really nothing could save it. I would give this place a try. Get the ribs and the fries. And try to eat in there.

There are multiple locations and locals told me this one wasn't the best. Maybe don't let this review completely put you off if you are headed to one of the other locations. This one was the most convenient from my nearby hotel and a nice walk through town, so we went. We also visited nearby Sugarfire Smokehouse on this trip and it was a no contest win for Sugarfire. My overall impression of Salt & Smoke is that it is all style and no substance. Beautiful smoke ring on the ribs that was very pleasing to the eye. The meat pulled clean off the bone like it should, but it was tough to chew and the smoke flavor was completely missing. Sides here were just fine, but not noteworthy. My favorite bite on the plate was the Mac and Cheese. The popover looked cool, but tasted like nothing. Beans were beans. Sauces were all forgettable. Thinking back, I don't even remember them enough to describe the differences. Contrast all that with Sugarfire whose Honey Badger sauce I meant to buy and take home and whose ribs had delicious smoky flavor and my choice is easy. Travel another five minutes for much better BBQ.

My new STL hangout. Close walk to downtown hotels and the ballpark. Great food and service, but when the run out of something you were salivating over, they run out, so get there early! You're likely to emerge from the restaurant with your clothes and hairreeking of wood smoke, but it can be an aphrodisiac to the right person!

We were at the arch and found this place to go after! It defiantly gave sport bar vibes but had a lot of windows for sunshine! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful with whatever we needed. My chicken plate was great! The beans were nice and smoky. The coleslaw had more of a vinegar dressing and had apples, which I never had before, but I loved it! The chicken was juicy and paired amazingly with the mustarolina sauce that I had to buy me a bottle! My friend had the wings and said they were the best wings she's ever had! This place did not disappoint!

The casual bbq restaurant was next to Busch Park & near the arch. We smelt the smoke and the pork before we even opened the door and stepped inside. The big bar was quiet, but the restaurant was busy at lunchtime. We ordered a half a rack of St. Louis cut ribs with a bacon cheddar pop over and two sides. Recommend we're all the sides, we chose fries & Cajun corn. Lunch was outrageously delicious, the meat fell off the ribs the ribs with smoky juicy, and cooked to perfection. We shared the signature goey butter cake for dessert. Amanda, our waitress was amazing, service was impeccable.

GREAT PLACE FOR LUNCH NEAR THE SAINT LOUIS GATEWAY ARCH ====================================================== My husband and I didn't do a lot of sightseeing on our 4,000 mile road trip to Indianapolis and back, but I had to stop to the see the Gateway Arch. When we parked at a nearby building we asked the parking attendant if he could recommend a place for bbq. You can't go to Missouri and not eat bbq as much as possible. Salt and Smoke was really good. I am a creature of habit and either go for a pulled pork sandwich or baby back ribs. The sandwich was great. My husband always goes for the brisket. They have good drink prices too.

Come on BBQ!!!! These meats were so tasteful and tender. Neither of us used sauce because it wasn't necessary! The meat speaks for itself okay! Service was super fast and prompt. Had a great time here and would go back if visiting! Price point is normal for BBQ meats

We arrived right on time for our reservation, stood for quite a few minutes in a half-empty house before being seated, then waited a very long time between visits from our apparently over-stretched waitstaff. The first cocktail I chose wasn't available; nor was the first entree. I settled on the "red wine flight", and it arrived in three glasses. The server recited their names, but I didn't catch them. Food was middle of the road. A smoked sirloin sandwich was tasty, though rather well-done. And the order of "salmon cakes", which the menu says is made of "smoked salmon, roast corn, tomato, cucumber, creme fraiche, and capers" was in fact just one cake (not cakes!), smaller than a hockey puck (about 1/2" thick max) and seemed to be made of canned fish, not the bright orange of smoked salmon. It was accompanied by five thin slices of cucumber and three or four halved grape tomatoes. No corn, no capers. It was so boring, and an overpriced disappointment at $23. If this Bridge is actually closing and focusing on the event space, they've gone out with a whimper. And if they're actually continuing service, I hope they get the food a little closer to the menu descriptions. Our drinks and water glasses were empty for long stretches. I came with my parents and husband and we all agreed it was a great idea and a very comfortable space, perfect for what was needed. I was surprised at how relatively ample the parking was here despite its proximity to the city. We found a spot with no problems. There were discreet signs that directed us up the stairs to where the event was held. It was spacious, airy, and cool, with a decent number of tables and a very nice large bar, as well as restrooms for both men and women. Our family members who spoke were able to stand on a small stage and share their thoughts. The food was served buffet style in front of the stage. Although you'd think it might be hard to hear given the acoustics, they worked out a way to make it so their speeches could be heard easily. Even visiting with other folks after they spoke, it never became too loud to hear each other. There are also nice TVs which displayed photos of the family. Although we used the space for a celebration of life, I can imagine it would be a good fit for all sorts of events, from corporate parties to just a chill hang out space when it's open to the public. It did get a little bit hot in the space as the event wore on, but it wasn't intolerable. The food and drinks were also quite tasty, especially for catered/buffet style food. There were pretzel bites and cheese dip and three different types of slider burgers: a standard/original burger, a taco burger, and an Impossible burger. The pretzel bites were crispy and buttery. I had a taco burger slider. It was a tiny bit dry but had a great flavor. The bartenders were great -- friendly, answering questions, working efficiently, and very kind to all the guests. Husband enjoyed the beers he tried and my mom and I both ordered the "Cranberry Crush," which was a yummy (and strong!) cocktail that was bright and perfectly sweet. We entered through the back where the deck is and walked right in. Upon first glance, you'll notice the hanging lights above the entrance and then after a few feet, the bar is immediately to the right. The tables are all along the left side as to make a walkway for the bar (super convenient). Due it being their anniversary, it was a bit crowded but not too bad where you couldn't get a drink or walk through. My usual go-to is a flavored vodka (three olives grape) and sprite. While they had a plethora of spirits, sadly this wasn't one of them. They had other flavored vodkas but I opted to get a simple Cosmo while my friend got a makers and coke. The Cosmo was just what I needed and might I add, well made! After we got our drinks, we did a quick walk through of the other side called The Oddities (coming soon), as well as the upstairs that overlooks the entire place. The stairs are steep, so it would behoove you to hold on to the railing. While I love trying new places, I was a bit apprehensive because I thought I'd stick out like a sore thumb. Turns out, everyone was friendly, the drinks are great, and the music wasn't bad! They had different acts going on for this particular evening (I'm not sure if this is the norm), but I know my friend is a regular on Tuesday's for karaoke. I do intend to come back and try out some more drinks and food and check out the other place once it officially opens.

Even gave us samples of some things to try, which we didn't expect. It was a pretty calm environment. Decent amount of people so it wasn't too loud. I got a Vanilla Pumpkin Ale which was delicious. We ordered a Caesar salad, Steak and Fries, and a fried pork cutlet with mashed potatoes. It was a great meal. Def a bargain for ribeye steak and fries (which was charred nicely). Almost tempted for dessert, but had to leave. Definitely would go again.

And the most important....always great beer on tap! My favorite is the hefe! Service is friendly and attentive. Even when they are at there max crowd and filled inside and out! Plenty of variety on the menu. I have had their salads, sandwiches, appetizers. Their pita and hummus and pretzels are so delicious! I recently tried the ribeye and for being a brewery even the steak was juicy, tender and cooked to perfection. The tap room is also centrally located and easy to get to. They have a large parking lot and plenty of street parking. Stop by and grab a beer at Schlafly Tap Room!
