So I did a thing, made a reservation here on Thanksgiving! It was busy but they were doing a great job managing the flow, but I absolutely have to call out our server, David! That guy nailed it, working multiple tables without missing a beat and not just being average, above and beyond!!! That being said, ice never been here, but I hear about it a lot! The place was obviously crazy busy but due to our reservation we were sat quickly and promptly greeted by David! He tells us the specials as well as they they were offering full menu even on the holiday. As we're in a steakhouse chose the regular menu stuff... starting with the brisket queso that was maybe my favorite part as the fresh chips paired perfectly. We the ordered our meals, the sirloin, the ny strip, and the brisket burger, our sides being a couple salads, truffle fries and baked potato. Our salads arrived fairly quickly and were great as one was a house and the other a Caesar... those crotons are the best I've ever had so ask for extra! The food was good, we had a little issue with the burger but that was all us but they were more than accommodating, the steaks were good as well. The only issue and they were so busy I didn't want to say anything were the truffle fries were awful, drown, soggy, and cold with truffle oil so just keep those off your radar. The atmosphere was a great environment, but most importantly the people were beyond awesome! Worth a visit especially if you're a tourist looking for a Texas steakhouse! Our whole family loves the Saltgrass Steak House. We visited the restaurant in Grapevine, TX, two evenings ago and had a lovely experience. Our waiter, Robert, took great care of us, answering our questions and making sure our meal requests were precisely followed. Logan, the manager came by and visited with us, checking on our experience. Crispy and fresh salads, creamy mashed potatoes, and hot juicy steaks cooked to perfection. I am a reward member and have had great service and food in the past. Recently I sat at then bar and ordered a hamburger and fries. Normally the burger is juicy and fresh. Unfortunately this time the burger was overcooked and dry. I know I should have told the bartender. By the way the service was great as usual. It was a Friday night busy as time at 7:15 PM. I was able to get in without making any reservations. I don't know you can make reservations here. However, the host was very efficient. We were able to get the table without waiting. The place was packed, we were just lucky. When I walked inside, I thought i was in the cowboy style restaurant. The Saltgrass restaurant is very Texan. If you want to show your guest from different states and you wanna show what is Texas like this place is a good place to take. The service over here was very good. I was greeted within one minute and the server was very fast and polite. We order the food we want and a lot of extra stuff we ordered he was on top of everything. I really think that the restaurant train server very well there. Also, the timing was very good. I really enjoyed my Caesar salad and my son and his wife really like their steak. I ordered the chops steak. I didn't care for the brussels sprouts but I think it's the brussels sprouts prepared burnt for the restaurants recipe. I don't know. I don't like burnt brussels sprouts that's my personal preference. Otherwise, my son and his wife really enjoyed the steak and I had a bite from my son's steak and it was great. Recommend this place? Maybe Inconsistency in the kitchen detracts from the overall dining experience and makes it difficult to rely on the restaurant for consistently enjoyable meals. We have always found the service a bright note. The servers are friendly, know the menu, and are quick to check on us and to refill drinks. When we order tea, they leave a carafe. That's smart! The food is, as mentioned above, hit or miss. Tonight was both, and that's the primary challenge. Tonight I was happy with my meal, but my wife's steak was overcooked. It's hard to recommend a steak house when someone is disappointed with their meal. More about my meal shortly. We don't usually get an appetizer because their salad is the best of any restaurant we've found. It's always so fresh, large enough to share, and the thousand island dressing is excellent. But, tonight we treated ourselves to a quail appetizer. We ordered the Bacon-Wrapped Quail, with Jalapeño cream cheese, Sriracha honey, Brussels sprouts. It's slightly spicy and I thought it was amazing. My wife thought it was too much spice and didn't eat but one small bite. The quail dish consisted of five legs very neatly prepared on a bed of Brussels sprouts. We weren't impressed with the sprouts, and wish we could have ordered only the quail. Grilled Brussels sprouts are best when they have crispy edges. These sprouts were the bed for the quail, and unfortunately, they were overcooked and mushy. Not our favorite! It's an expensive appetizer when all you really want is quail. Unfortunately, unless Saltgrass were to offer more quail dishes, I'll pass of any future orders. My main dish was the ribs. There's absolutely nothing wrong with them. But, here's my opinion. If you close your eyes when biting into a heavily sauced rib, you'd think you were at Chili's Bar and Grill eating their Baby Back Ribs. There's a remarkable lack of uniqueness to the ribs. Seems like Saltgrass would want to distinguish their offerings from other establishments. The ambiance is rustic casual with an always busy bar. There's a fireplace in one of the dining rooms that can be quite cozy on winter nights. Overall, it's a pleasant place to dine, but can get noisy because the tables are too close to each other. In short, we frequent the Grapevine location, but aren't always satisfied. read more
