The boiled shrimp at Saltwater Crab was as good or better than just about anything I had down there. Big facts. The seasoning is so good. It's so good that I haven't even tried anything else here. I did have the seafood dip one time and that was super duper fire. I have to try the oysters next. Tried it for the first time this week after the old restaurant there failed. First - the food was really good. Not great, but for the price, a really good meal out. The service however will cause me not to go back. It was honestly embarrassing for myself, my dinner party, and I think even the waitress. We placed our alcohol order for a bottle of wine and our appetizers at the same time. Next our appetizer plate of seafood dip came with what looked like someone emptied the bottom of a bag of crumbled chips onto the plate. We sent it back and out came fresh hot chips. They just should have waited. Then we asked about our wine "oh, I forgot to tell you that we can't find that bottle." Then, way too late, they brought out one entree. 10 minutes later and before anyone else had received their food, the waitress looks at this clearly uneaten plate and reaches to take it. Soooo, where do I start...? Saltwater crab has a great street presence, once arriving I noticed the beachfront appeal! Great appearance indeed, which made me feel as if I was eating in Pensacola or Santa Monica!! Once we stepped into Saltwater Crab, I immediately saw someone eating an amazing amount of seafood! Once we were guided to our seats, which didn't take long at all... I wished, I would have sat in one of the cushioned chairs versus the wood bench. Anywhoo, ordered drinks and a seafood platter, which were sooooooo delicious I didn't want to stop eating until there was nothing left!!! Lol! However, in reality I had about 10-15 shrimps to take home! Great!! Saltwater crab has, Great portions and incredibly good sauce and seasoning in the seafood "bag". Relatively new still, and there are definitely still kinks to work out, but it has potential. We went for an early dinner with friends, and while we enjoyed it, it wasn't as good as expected. First, they were out of tea, so I ordered Diet Coke, which was also out. No biggy. Then we ordered a cocktail- also out of the ingredients for that. So I stuck with water because they had some of that. We got a few different food options and they were all pretty good- scallops, sushi, bruschetta, po' boy, brussels sprouts. Wish I could of got to try Saltwater Crab, drove all the way to midtown. Was put on the wait list at 7:30 after being told was a 25 minute wait by one hostess, then 35 minute wait by another. No big deal. Went to Bayou and had a drink, arrived back at Saltwater Crab at 8pm and went in to check on the wait. Was notified it would be another 35 minutes and 11 people in front of us! So glad our first chose for dinner was closed or we would have missed out out on this wonderful place. Saltwater Crab is absolutely delicious. They have only been opened for 5 days! The service (Jackie) and the food was great. Although some of the drink options were not available, the bar staff made cocktails that were not on the menu. Keep in mind they are updating the bar menu daily. The restaurant has beautiful outside seating and a place for live music. If you love sushi, this is the place. The fresh seafood boil combos have plenty to share. In case you're wondering, there's cold and warm water oysters. There are fried seafood options as well. You won't have to worry about breaking the bank. Prices are reasonable. I will definitely be back and tell all my friends. Great food! We had crab cakes and crab bruschetta as appetizers- both amazing. The vinaigrette drizzle on the bruschetta was so good! The boil combo #1 was plenty to share and delicious. Grilled salmon was also tasty, but the side of miso butter Brussels sprouts was unbelievable! So sweet, they could have been dessert! We added a spider roll and spicy yellowtail roll. We ate at Saltwater Crab tonight for the first time. I'm giving 4 stars but would probably do 3.5 if possible on yelp. The decor is amazing and modern, we were greeted and decided to sit at the bar. My husband always jokes the best service is always at the bar. The bartender was very nice but was very obviously overwhelmed. The spritzer I had was delicious though! The food came out in weird waves and we had to ask for silverware. We also had to wait to have our plates taken, even though the bussers walked by us/ to the bar several times. I kind of am cutting them some slack here, it's a brand new restaurant. Here are my complaints. My romaine salad with tofu... the salad was good and I'm grateful the Caesar dressing had no archovies BUT the tofu was disgusting. And for an additional 4 dollars was completely pitiful. It was firm tofu that had barely been heated and was still soggy from being removed from the package. Please offer a better vegetarian/vegan protein. My husband enjoyed his food. But then the bill came and we had been charged for 5 drinks someone else ordered, after he had ran our card. The bartender was super nice and said he'd give us a break, but it didn't really add up even then. And we didn't receive any confirmation of a voided receipt....sooo, we're keeping an eye on our statement. So, I want to come back and probably will. But I just think attention to detail all around would be nice. And please get a vegetarian entree option! read more

Tried Saltwater Crab tonight with my husband, and was NOT disappointed. Our server was Alex, and she was professional, friendly, and so knowledgeable about everything on the menu. We ordered the oysters, three sushi rolls (saltwater crab roll, dragon roll & south beach roll), as well as 1/2 lb of snow crab boil and 1/2 lb of green mussels in the garlic butter sauce. Soooo amazing! We are coming back in two days to try everything we didn't get to this time. This is my first experience here and I will definitely be back! I came in for lunch with a coworker and we sat on the patio. The rather inexperienced/ very shy server came and greeted us after sitting for quite some time and only asked if we were ok with water. She then walked away and we looked puzzled??? Another young lady came by and asked if we were ok and if a server had been by. We told her no and she apologized and said she'd take over. We ordered several different things to split which I posted pictures of with the prices. Everything was so good and was spaced out enough for us to enjoy each course. Came here with some friends for a birthday dinner. I had the oysters (James River) and Los Angeles Roll. The oysters were soooo fresh. I wish I ordered more! The roll came with 10 big pieces that I did not finish. My waitress was a sweet young african American girl with braids. She took very good care of our party.
